This was a brand new restaurant that had only been opened 2-3 weeks (02/26) before so everything looked shiny & new. They offer quite a variety of different foods and it's not all Chinese food. I am not able to eat garlic and I found items I could eat. *Regarding garlic allergies. If you read on the website it states that you can get a "garlic card" from your server that you can hand to the chef at the Mongolian Grill (which makes it clear in case there is a language barrier.) It states you can't eat garlic. You can also ask him to clean the grill from the last person he cooked for that used garlic. On me 18st time there there there there was very good noodle but sushi dry and Mongolian beef weird color. this time there fried ostrich was tasty but soup taste like soap they did not offer me refund after i left meal in toilet, it gave me very bad indigestion. i can only recomend go here if you like brown sushi, dry donut, and noodle with bugs in it. I visited King Buffet for the first time and unfortunately it will also be the last time. It is an all you can eat buffet with a big selection of different foods; however, we found that most foods available were not fresh, undercooked, cold, and frankly did not taste good. Every piece of chicken I encountered across several dishes did not taste fully cooked, were lukewarm, and seemed off-putting. My wife encountered many pieces of crab discolored, foul smelling, and spoiled. The eggrolls were old and uncooked in the middle, etc. I tried to only eat what I felt was edible which was maybe the sesame balls and fried rice (which definitely tastes days old). Despite avoiding most of the food I still got a bit of food poisoning and was sick and throwing up all night. Everything tasted old, stale, cheap, and unsafe. I honestly don't think you can get your value even if you could tolerate and enjoy what was offered. I honestly can't think of very many positives. The service wasn't remarkable, but not poor. This was my fourth visit to this establishment, and for some reason I seem to give it another try about once every four years. On paper, the menu always looks great--plenty of selection, nicely presented, and priced affordably. The staff works hard, and I want to acknowledge that they do a solid job running the place. That said, as a self-proclaimed foodie and taste-bud snob, the food itself is just not for me. Everything I've tried over the years has been difficult to enjoy--not because of portion size (they serve plenty), but because of the taste. On my most recent visit, I arrived toward the end of the day, so I understand that some of the dishes had been sitting out. Still, what I experienced was cold, bland, and in desperate need of seasoning. From the sushi to the Chinese dishes, even the desserts--everything fell flat. To be fair, I think this could be a good spot for families with preteens or teenagers who eat a lot and aren't too picky, especially if you're on a budget. The restaurant is dated and dusty. The staff seems very attentive and friendly. They do a good job of bussing the tables quickly. They have a wide variety of choices here on the buffet line including crab legs and other sea fare. They also have an a la cart menu if you choose to not partake in the buffet. I was hoping to just do the salad bar but it was not an option. So I didn't eat. My husband ate some beef stir fry dish but not much else did not like most of the food he tried. My cousin barely touched her food, she did enjoy the chicken wings, however the fried wonton filling was very little and not great. OKKKK, We have lived in the Reno area for over 20 years...My hubby is not much of a fan of buffets, so we never went in there to eat.... It was always busy, so I thought, lots of cars were always there, so it might be good.... I started off with egg drop soup and they had sweet and sour soup, it was really good!! We then went to the buffet for our food... SOOO much to pick from , yu start from the right side, grab your plate, so many choices to choose from.. Then to the Appetizers.... Lots of sushi rolls, salad stuff, you name it, they had it.. Egg rolls, Wontons, egg Fu Yung, sweet and sour pork, beef broccoli, sesame balls, fried rice, rice, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! You can so tell that they care about their food and Customers. Very attentive.. We could not get over how clean this place was.... there was NOT EVEN A fingerprint on the glass above the buffet. Even though there was a drink station in the middle of the restaurant, server came by many times for refills. I was very impressed. I expected the worse and was completely blown away..... I do not eat much at all, my friend I was with , even said, I never , ever see you eat that much. I was like YAYYYYY! I have lost a lot of weight and not usually hungry, this FOOD WAS absolutely AMAZING! DELICIOUS! We will be definitely be going back.... YUMMY! Our last visit to King Buffet was two years ago and that experience made us not want to return. Our initial choice was closed, so we decided to dine at King Buffet on Tuesday evening. It was still fairly early, so when we arrived at the restaurant, there were only two other groups of customers. The buffet line was full of food: different kinds fruits and salads, a selection of sushi, fried chicken wings, fries, pizza and donut holes (for the kids I assume), potstickers, egg rolls, baked salmon, salt-and-pepper shrimp, salt-and-pepper crab legs, mussels, chow mien, fried rice, sautéed green beans, stewed mushrooms, seafood stir-fry, beef broccoli, orange chicken, stir-fried mixed vegetables, cashew chicken, butter shrimp, barbecue chicken and a couple more dishes I couldn't identify; plus the whole made-to-order stir-fry section. A couple of people in our party commented that as plentiful as the selection was, the food was kind of bland and unimpressive. I liked the butter shrimp, stewed mushrooms and potstickers the best and went back for seconds. I'd never been here to this King Buffet in Reno before, but was invited down here from Tahoe where I'm enjoying some down time. It was a Sunday, so they are supposed to have the best spread of food. The price was $22 per person plus tax and some tip. The reviews I saw was not so encouraging, but I've learned to not really trust Yelp reviews when it comes to buffets. Only the people that wanna complain post and the people that liked it, don't bother to post. We arrived right at 11:00 opening, as one should to have the best buffet experience. All the food is new and hot and unmolested by inconsiderate diners, putting food tongs back in the wrong tray or picking out all the beef from the beef and broccoli. Get there first! I thought the food was very good and had a good variety. The snow crab legs were placed deep into the steam tray so you really have to reach and have long arms ... I guess that's so it's harder to get and you don't take as much ... didn't stop us! There was lots of seafood, maybe not top end like a $100 buffet in Vegas, but OK for the price. They even had whole steamed ginger garlic fish, you never see that at most Chinese buffets. Sushi was typical buffet sushi, mostly CA Rolls with some fish on top. All the usual Chinese dishes were there. The chicken wings were super good, I really liked those. The service on the other had was terrible, I'd say even worse than most Chinese buffets where all they do is clear the plates. Here they didn't even do that! We had a pile of at least SIX plates stacked to be cleared at the edge of the table and it was a long time before it was cleared. Servers even walked by and I saw them notice, but did nothing! Water's were never filled either. Well, I'm here for the food, so that's what matters most and it was pretty decent for the price. This is pretty much the only game in town for an Asian themed buffet and if you have been to one of these type of places, you know what you are getting yourself into. It sits in the parking lot across from the Atlantis and it's ambiance it totally divey. It does have a pretty large collection of dishes compared to other American Chinese buffets and the quality of the dishes is largely dependent on the time of day. Get there when it's busy and they have adequate staff, you can expect to it to be more fresh than if you come in say between lunch and dinner when stuff have been picked apart and some trays have old, dry food and congealed sauces. From other reviews, you might think it is a crapshoot on whether you acquire a food borne illness visiting here but I have eaten here a dozen times and never had a problem, the quality is usually on par with other cheap Chinese places around town, the only real issue I have had is from other customers doing stuff like picking all the meat out of the Beef and Broccoli or swarming the more popular dishes when they come out. Absolutely disgusting, worst buffet in Reno if i were able to rate it in the negatives I would! King Buffet is an absolute joke. Everything was horrible. The food was unappetizing ,cold, dried out, and clearly old. It looked like it had been sitting there all day. There was nothing fresh, nothing flavorful, nothing even remotely worth eating. I seriously regret putting any of it on my plate. The place itself was filthy. Sticky floors, dirty tables, and filthy bathrooms. It felt neglected and unsanitary, which is the last thing you want at a buffet. Service was terrible. As soon as we sat down the server threw our utensils on the table not wrapped with anything just the bare fork and spoons. Staff were really weird and make us uncomfortable because they would just walk by and stare, like straight up just stare and walk away they didn't even check up on our table. It felt like they couldn't care less if customers were unhappy. And for what they charge? Total scam. This place should be embarrassed to call itself a restaurant. Although most of the reviews on this buffet was pretty negative, surprisingly I had a positive experience after dining at this restaurant. I recently had lunch at the Asian food buffet and overall it was fantastic. Not only were the prices pretty cheap ($18 for lunch on weekends), but the staff was attentive and consistently asked if my table needed refills on our drinks and took dirty plates off. The buffet was clean, the food had a wide variety of choices, ranging from sushi and dim sum to stir-fries and bbq meat with dessert as well. Everything tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor. It was not too busy inside and there were many seatings in the dining area. My final take on this restaurant is that this place surprised me and will become a new go-to spot for a delicious and authentic chinese buffet for lunch or dinner. We paid for sodas, when in most of the buffets sodas are included. They charged $9 to my 3 year old. What? Yes, crazy. I was hesitant to leave a bad review because the service was actually nice, and I don't want to trash an Asian owned business... but this was the worst food I've ever had. The buffet dishes don't have any labels, so if you have any allergies, you are at risk. Also, there wasn't a serving utensil for each dish, so one serving utensil was used for up to 8 dishes in one area. The food was flavorless and bland, and the egg rolls and crab ragoons were soggy. I was forcing food down in an effort not to break the social norms of everyone eating beside me. I was in the banquet room for the networking event from hell (not the restaurant's fault) and the service was pretty good because the buss person took my plates around 10 min after I finished eating. It cost me $45 to attend, I'm not sure how much of that was the price of the event itself and the price of food, but it was expensive for the low quality of the food. I consider this place to be a personal guilty pleasure of mine. It is obviously not a top quality buffet, especially if you compare it to the ones in Vegas and San Fran. But the variety vs quality vs pricing ratio hits just right for me. If I ever get a craving to pig out without feeling guilty about my wallet, this is my go to. I feel this place is underrated. I'm happy to rate this buffet 5 stars because the "Mongolian Grill" is BETTER than any I've ever been to before. You get your choice of spice level. They choose the seasoning FOR us. Which is great because at other places I never knew what to use and it was never really good. But NOW this place is EXCELLENT because the grill man knows how to season it perfectly. I got zero spice. It was TERRIFIC! I feel the Mongolian Grill is underused. Currently the lunch buffet is $14.99. with a $1.50 senior discount available. If you are a big eater it's a steal because there is lot's of meat! For vegetarians the Mongolian Grill is SWEET!!! Something for everyone. They have massively improved their dessert bar. It now has several nice cookies, soft serve ice cream and a very delicious chocolate coffee mousse cake. It's a common feature at Chinese buffets I've gone to but their version here is far superior to any I've had previously over the many years I have frequented Chinese Buffets. This is delicious.
