Their Eggroll filling is more of a Chinese/Filipino filling with meat and cabbage instead of the Vietnamese Eggroll which has meat, jicama. carrots, onions, black fungus, and vermicelli. As others have mentioned, they double wrap so the Eggroll is sturdy and thicker than the 1 wrap which I prefer. Overall, it still tasted great and everyone enjoyed it. Was craving buns so I thought why not try their pork buns. Saw the menu from last month and it is a bit pricey at $5.50 for 3 buns however, it's close by the house. To my surprise when I got there the price was even higher. Now it's $6.30 for 3 buns and the buns seem so much smaller now. I could have sworn they were bigger. Since I was there I decided to her the pate chaud, the siu mai, and 3 egg rolls. To my surprise, the total for just these few items came out to about $25. When did King Egg Roll get so expensive??? Since the buns were tiny I remembered Ranch 99 sells large buns. Since it was on the way home, I stopped by to get their buns. So much larger for only $4.60 for 3 buns. This review is for catered orders. A friend of mine was celebrating one of her kids' birthday. She had asked if I could help pick up some of the food for the party. She had pre ordered veggie egg rolls, fried chicken, and lobster balls from here. I went to pick up the order for her. This place has been here for a while now and looks like they've updated the place a bit. And the place is much cleaner than other spots that have catered asian appetizers. The service was efficient. I went to this location to get fried rice before closing time tonight. One young couple lined up behind me about 3 minutes after I got in line. The food service assistance greeted the young couple and started serving them. I taped on the counter glass and tilted my head, giving her a why-did-you-skip-me look. The food service assistance responded, "They are just ordering..." I wish I had responded, "I am just ordering, too." This assistance pulled out a box for combination meal special when I said, "Fried rice... in the quart size." Still a great crunch with their egg rolls. Oily, as expected, but if you eat their egg rolls right away, it'll mask the oiliness. I loved the taste until I bit into one that had hair. It's been 4 years since my last review. I come by this place once maybe twice a year if I'm in the area. But dang, how prices have climbed! I ordered 4 items and it came out to $30. My last review the 4pc order of dim sum was $3.75, it is now $6.30. Shrimp balls were $1.55 each, now they are $2.25. And a small box of fried rice is now $8.00. Some people tell me that's pretty steep, others tell me it's not bad. Seems a bit expensive to me though. I have to say, the food was good though. It's best to come in early. I came in at 11am this time. And if I do decide to swing by, it's usually between 9am to before noon as that's when the food is freshly made. If you come before closing, chances are it'll be stale. King Eggroll has been here what feels like forever. Certainly over 25 years as it's been that long since I used to live in San Jose. Great tasting egg rolls and noodles. This review is strictly for King Eggroll's dim sum. On any other given day, I would easily give KE's assorted dim sum 5/5 stars. Sure it's a bit more on the pricier side for a togo spot but man... it's straight FIRE!!! These mini dishes are always made with perfect seasoning, just the right amount of chew to their outer coating, and the quality in the meats/seafood is very apparent. I'd honestly prefer grabbing dim sum here than even going out to an actual dim sum restaurant at times. Fast forward: I guess all good things must come to an end. The last 3 purchases for dim sum here have left me full but very disappointed. Dim sum filling is mushy and the skins on the har gow stick to one another and eventually pull off. This leaves the shrimp filling naked and due to the filling being extremely wet, it falls apart. Flavoring is still good but the wet texture just isn't justified in the high price point. 2 stars. It might be because I grew up eating here, but I really like King Eggroll! I think the egg rolls are a 6 out of 5 stars! They are a little expensive IMO, but I'm always willing to pay (when a craving hits, I can't resist). It would be nice if you got a little of a discount the more rolls you bought (like the party trays). I haven't tried any of the other dim sum or appetizer items from here. They're not sneaking in mini-egg rolls from under the counter when they pack your order. You see exactly what you get. I also appreciate they don't cheap out on the dipping sauce or try to save by giving you none if you forget to ask - it's automatically included. The one star knock is for inconsistent service at times and parking being a hit / miss. It's not a huge deal, but enough to ding them a star. I got great service this last time.
