I was doing laundry next door around 11am and this place was busy as in the line was always somewhere out the door a bit! I looked up reviews and thought I would give it a try. Prices were pretty good. I three dim sum items all at $5.25. The hargow, bbq black bean spare ribs and the bbq bun. The hargow was okay. You get 4 pieces for $5.25. The wrapping was too thick than most places I've been too but I could let the pass as long as the filling was delicious! The filling was okay, mediocre in my opinion. Shrimp was a little like slightly over cooked but not bad for a fast food grab and go dim sum but it lacked the flavor umami. I added the soy vinegar they provide and i was able to tolerate it and it wasn't bad. The bbq bun is $5.25 and you get 3 pieces. Even though they just came out of the steamer from the back, they were dry? It was weird but I didn't even finish 1 of them. The bbq black bean spare ribs, they were tough. Usually these are the type to fall off the bone and the fat melts in your mouth. These were tough and the fat, I couldn't even chew it and I had to spit it out. I have a feeling they have good stuff but I possible chose some bad options. The shrimp balls were selling out along with the egg rolls and the combo meal dishes were a lot of people's pick as I was watching the store. Overall, on just these items I wouldn't go back for dim sum. I would possibly try the other items like the entrees but since I am just visiting I probably won't be back. read more

A pretty decent mix of everything type of place! King Eggroll has a couple locations throughout the bay & this one is my favorite. They have the Chinese Takeout Combo style, Banh Mi, Eggrolls, Dim Sum, & other great fast faves. Overall my favorite thing to get is the spring rolls since they make them pretty well (holds together well) & it's paired with a pretty solid peanut sauce. San Jose's legendary King Egg Roll, literally grew up on the food, would walk from my home and come back with a bag of egg rolls and 7-eleven cherry slurpees as a kid. Always busy during holidays with a line out the door especially for the super bowl or a party event in the area. Never a fan of their mixed plates but their orange chicken and beef broccoli will usually suffice my appetite. The fried chicken is decent but I rarely get it. The service is very quick during light hours, the staff have been there for years so they should know what their doing. I use to live in San Jose for a few years with a bunch of housemates. We pick up the 50 pack of Egg rolls (the fried ones of course) take it home and place it in the fridge for about 2-3 hours. I know sounds crazy. Trust me. We all then get our little side dishes and prepare a 70% shoyu (soy sauce) with 30% White vinegar mix with red crushed peppers. Then dip and enjoy. The "cooled down/kind of cold" eggrolls explode with flavor that seems to be missed when piping hot. Idk, it's amazing this way. The wings, put Crystal hot sauce on it and eat it. I've been coming here for years now and there's not a single complaint. For years, this location has been producing so much to the community. They are still catering strong here with long lines out the door. Prices are still cheap, service is fast and efficient, the food items are hot and freshly made, etc. This is of course the best King Eggroll location in the Bay Area. I don't like how it's cash only but they have an ATM machine inside that will charge a $2.50 service fee. We came here often even ordered catering. It is a hit and miss when you come in. I come in with an elderly lady who loves to eat here, but is treated very poorly by the servers here they can be very rude and snobby very mean. For paying customers that do come back makes you very uncomfortable. I even caught the lady rolling her eyes. Sometimes their food is fresh. Sometimes it's not. I remember coming to King Eggroll as a kid and getting all kinds of goodies. Not much has changed - they still purvey tons of deep fried goodness. They have Chinese entree staples too, but I skipped those and went straight for the good stuff. The fried xiu mai, pork egg roll, veggie egg roll (they also have chicken egg rolls), and sesame balls were all everything you want - they were crispy and oily. Love that the sesame balls are smaller than ones you normally see and they come in an order of 5. I also got steamed bbq pork buns - which had lots of well seasoned filling - and har gao - which were pretty standard but good. I still haven't figured out which one (Story or Lundy) is better because I have yet to go to the Story location, but I can tell you for a fact that the ones in Milpitas and Gilroy fall short. I needed to get a tray for a teacher appreciation lunch, so I called the day before to place an order. I forgot to mention what kind of egg rolls, so when I picked up I found that the default is pork. Anyway, I asked for it to be ready at 10:30 and I walked in at 10:32 and it was waiting for me on the counter, piping hot. Been seeing this King Eggroll family of business around here/there, but never cared to try it out. Not sure why - maybe because most of their locations or just the way the shop appears do not seem inviting to me. Thus, I was more drawn into others such as Lee Sandwiches, Huong Lan, and some mom/pop Asian food shops! I do recall almost trying the one on Calaveras Blvd about a decade ago, but being cash only resulted in losing my business! One of my pet peeves is restaurants that take only cash!!! Been many years forward and thought I try this location on Lundy Ave out, especially after reading all the good reviews! To my disappointment - Food was not that great nor were the egg rolls any better. Most dishes do not seem fresh. Customer Service nothing worth noting. Prices kind of high on everything. This is the ORIGINAL King Egg roll location, therefore this is the place to go if you want egg rolls. I've been to both locations in Milpitas and quality isn't the same. I will only go to this location now for egg rolls. They have pork egg rolls, chicken egg rolls, and veggie egg rolls. My suggestion is if you order multiple types of egg rolls, have them put it in a separate nags so you know which are which types. I also like their fried chicken. I can't speak for the other Chinese food here, but if you're a local you know this is the spot for egg rolls. It's been around forever. I do notice this location always had a lot of homeless people begging for money outside maybe because it's right next to the laundry mat. read more
