    Pineapple Dole Whip ice cream

Delicious pineapple dole whip small ice cream cone. Forget about McDonald's- their machines are always broken and they don't have this yummy pineapple!

Lilly loves King Kone as much as we do!

We love the pineapple Dole Whip. It tastes just like it does at Disney World, but the biggest fan of King Kone is Lilly

America has tons of great food & amazing restaurants, that is for certain. A melting pot of cuisines, super cheap to beaucoup expensive, from all over the world. One of the many things that makes America special. However, if we are just talking about good ol' American food, cheeseburgers, hotdogs & ice cream there is only one #1 place for me. And that is King Kone. Nestled down in the beautiful Mountains of Hot Springs, Arkansas on a little side street, you will find what we call in France, "un petit trésor" and what a most delightful treat to find that is, as All American as apple pie & baseball. And they do serve fried PIES. Yummy yummy YUM fried pies. Not a fancy place, just a little drive in, however the food is off the chain! My hubby & I usually swing by King Kone when we "adventure" out to Petit Jean State Park, visit the Hot Springs, stay at the Alpine Inn or recently, we opted for a stay at Riverview Cabin & Canoes over in Oden. That was all amazing, but not as AMAZING as the burgers & fries at King Kone. After a day of hiking we LOVE the double Cheeseburgers & fries. There must be crack in those burgers bc they are so moist & flavorful with melty gooey cheese all over :)... Top them anyway you like, LOVE that they serve purple onion instead of white. And the Fries?! Perfectly crispy plain or add their amazing chili, cheese, jalapeños or all 3 :).... This last visit we drove down from Petit Jean for lunch while my hubby constantly talked about the King Kone double cheeseburger. Bla Bla Bla omg it's so yummy! By the time we got close, he was so hangry, driving so fast to get there, that he literally went over the train tracks going down the mountain so fast I swear we took flight! He scared the bageebas out of me. He hasn't been allowed to drive my car since. If you LOVE all American Food & your a complete Cheeseburger NUT & haven't been to King Kone your missing out on one of the greatest experiences of your life. Pack your kids, your mom & dad, your grandma & grandpa or just your spouse. Hell, load'em up in the RV with the dog(s) & head out to beautiful Hot Springs. There is tons to see & do but the destination should be KING KONE. Drive all night if you have to till you see the giant soft serve ice cream "KONE" on the front of the building. Famous for the "Purple Cow" ice creams, soft serve vanilla ice cream blended with NuGrape soda. A all American King Kone Classic you MUST TRY. Walk up & order everything on the menu (if you have your whole family with you it will work out trust me) it's all in.FREAK.IN.CREDABLE! Salads, turkey burgers, foot longs, chili cheese fries, (omg the fries :)...) catfish basket, waffle cones, banana split, Veggie burger, BLACKBEAN burger, (YES VEGENS WELCOME) Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, shakes, etc., it's all fantastic. The chili on the chili cheese fries & hotdogs is the BOMB! Everything here is made fresh. Old School All American done right. But it's MORE than that. It's the All American town, the classic old building, the picnic tables off to the side with the Arkansas mountains as a backdrop. The people. Oh, there are lots of people coming & going. A very popular spot indeed. While I was there last, I even saw the SONIC employees get off work next door, WALK OVER & stand in line with the rest of us hangry people. You think my hubby drove fast to this place? You should have seen that Sonic dude sprint over. I posted a pic if you missed it. That's the way he Sonics. Lol Some places just have a soul, a vibe, a "je ne sais quoi" in ALL American terms, its hitting on all 12 cylinders. So for everyone that always ask me "what is your favorite burger place" it's KING KONE. The Tiny super inexpensive drive-in with the outdoor picnic tables in the Arkansas mountains with the KILLER cheeseburger & fries. Yes, put this one on your BUCKET LIST. Like my hometown boy Paul Proudhomme says; "You don't need a silver fork to eat good food." Hubby & I will drive 7 hours to get our King Kone experience on! We make a weekend of it. We hit the hot springs, hike, bike & canoe, but mostly what we DO, is stuff our pie holes at King Kone. That's the way we roll. Highest recommendations.

    Regular cheeseburger...so fresh and tasty.

Mmm, y'all. If you enjoy a good, freshly made burger...this is the spot. We drive from Little Rock to visit the in-laws and have to hit this place up when we are in town. I love their fat, crispy onion rings too.

The people are always nice! The food may come slower but the quality is worth it. It's also a great place for a date.

Best old fashioned hamburger in Hot Springs. It's in the same small building that it has been for 20+ years, and is still the best.

Located across the street from Bathhouse Row, the Ohio Club has had a long history in this town, having served gangsers, famous baseball players, and other celebrities. I can see why...I mean, they like great food and good drinks just as much as everyone else! The atmosphere is off-the-charts incredible and feels as if one is stepping back in time to 1920s America. Combine this with an amazing food menu and incredible drink selection, and you've got one helluva experience! Service was stellar...friendly and prompt. She was also very helpful with menu selections and drink choices, knowing exactly where to steer two virgins of the Ohio Club experience. We chose to share the Reuben, which was a great choice because it was so big. For drinks, we opted for the Ohio Rum Sour and Berry Ohio...never looking back as they were both delicious! We always strike-up an interesting conversation with people sitting at the bar. Several local beers on tap and we had the Space Force, an IPA, on both visits....very good. We split a Reuben sandwich with fries and it was excellent. I also ordered a side of fried okra, which was delicious and so hot, I had to let it cool before eating. The bartenders are always friendly and will talk if time allows. The whole place has a great vibe. Speaking of the okra, I noticed that on my bill I was charged $13 and change for it. I thought WOW, but gladly paid the bill. The more I thought about it, I figgered it must be an error. On our second trip, I mentioned it to the bartender and asked if it were possibly an error. It was an error and she asked me how to make it right (there was a logical explanation for the error). I made it clear that I was not complaining, just wanting clarification. She asked if a complimentary order of fried okra was OK....certainly! Great place and a Hot Springs icon. Highly recommend and dont skip it.

We were in town to visit the Hot Springs National Park and wanted to experience fine dining on our last night. No need to look further than the Vault! Intimate lighting and a dark-wooded interior lent itself to a wonderfully romantic evening. Service was absolutely amazing (we had Emily) and she described all of the different menu and drink option questions we had. In the end, we went for two filets, the crispy potatoes, and brussel sprouts. Brace yourself: the steaks were some of the best I've ever experienced. NO JOKE. I've traveled the world and would consider myself a connoisseur of fine steaks. Without a doubt, the filets we had at the Vault stand up to anything I've ever had in NYC, Paris, or Dallas. Cooked to perfection, we could actually cut them with our forks. Needless to say, nothing was left of our plate... Beware: the side dishes are huge, so one is enough for two people. We will be back!

The ambience is just so elegant and romantic. The menu lights up as you open it and everything on it sounded delicious. The servers, Peter and Emily, were so fun and helpful! They brought out these heavenly yeast rolls basted in truffle butter...what??? I got the market fish special which was grouper, and my husband got the grilled pork chop. Come with an empty stomach if you get the pork chop. It is a very generous portion and is delicious! The grouper was perfection...crispy on the outside, light and flakey inside, sitting atop beautiful spring vegetables and a lovely light beurre blanc sauce. It was topped with edible flowers and micro greens. I regret that I did not take a photo (we were so hungry), but it was just divine. The chef came over to ask what we thought and we told him everything was amazing. The staff were absolutely lovely. We can't say enough good things. This is what a restaurant experience on vacation should be like. What a gem! Hopefully next time we visit we can try the dessert menu! We won't even get into how they make bread pudding out of those delicious rolls...

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.
