Shrimp dumpling: 3.5/5. The wrap is thin enough to break when you try to pick one up with chopsticks. Chicken feet: 4/5. the sauce is good Walnut buns: 2/5. It has walnut chunks inside. I found that they were too big that ruined the taste. That's because walnut has no taste. Purple yam buns: 4/5. Must have. Haven't seen it in anywhere else in the east bay and South Bay dim sum restaurants. It's just too small. Deep Fried dough rice noodle: 3.5/5. If the deep fried dough was crunchier, this would be a 4. The dimsum here was surprisingly really tasty! I was quite pleased with this spot and surprised to see that its only rated 3 stars here. Why?! We came here on a Sunday a little past 11AM and got a table right away. It started getting packed, so be sure to get here by 11AM! We were told that the full party had to be around to get seated, but we were still waiting for 4 more and told them they were only a few min away. Fortunately they let us sit without any issues. You order via paper menu and mark the items that you want along with the quantity. We ordered way too many! We got the standard siu mai, shrimp dumplings, shrimg cheung fun (and other variations), baos, desserts, crispy noodle dish, the list goes on. We ordered so many, we ate half and were full. They have the cute dessert baos here with cute animal decor. They were also very tasty and fluffy, not too sweet! The foods came out quickly and were all delicious. Not too oily nor salty. Drizzled all the foods with the hot sauce! The restaurant looks nice and located in an Asian plaza with tons of eateries, across the street from the notorious Livermore outlets. A very solid dim sum spot! I'm actually quite surprised at the low reviews, but I would say the taste and quality of this spot is probably one of the better ones in the area. We came as a party of 7 on a Saturday during lunchtime, and we were actually able to get seated immediately. I think they have quite a lot of large tables available, but if you're a smaller party you may have to wait longer. With so many people, we decided to just go a little crazy with ordering and get basically everything that looked appealing to us. I definitely do not remember it all, but some items we got were the shumai, steamed bbq pork bun, beef noodle roll, duck noodle roll, beef stew rice stir fried rice noodles, chinese broccoli, daily special taro sesame wrap, salt and pepper fish, deep fried meat dumpling, custard bao, salted egg yolk lava bao, durian puff, sticky rice, preserved duck egg and pork congee, and soup dumplings. Everything tasted pretty fresh and it was all well seasoned. I would say the standouts to me were the beef and cilantro cheung fun, salt and pepper fish, and salted egg yolk lava bao. They were all probably some of the best I've had of those dishes. I also really liked the daily special taro wrapped with sesame! You're greeted right away with a friendly smile and asked what kind of tea. Today, we had chrysanthemum. Paper menu for their offering which you choose what delicacies you want. We went with the usual shui mai, har gaw, gailan with oyster sauce, sesame ball, taro footballs then ventured with the egg yolk pumpkin, crispy shrimp rice paper, and the fried fish. Portions are definitely smaller. Everything had great flavor but I was thirsty AF. An hour after driving away, I got this splitting headache which means one thing- a lot of MSG in the food. King Wah is one of my go-to dim sum restaurants in the east bay as they have some really good items like: 101 King Wah Shrimp Dumpling (L) 109 Egg Custard Bun (M) 208 Deep Fried Dough Rice Noodle Roll (L) 301 Deep Fried Shrimp Balls (L) 312 Pan Fried Chives Dumpling (L) I'd say that these particular items are my go-to orders and they're pretty standard meaning that you can find these items elsewhere too. One thing I appreciate a lot about this spot beside the good services is that the food items are really packed with rich flavors. During the lunar new year, my parents and I decided to order 盤菜 from them and I'd say the sauce and what's inside was really delicious and had a lot of items we enjoyed eating. One thing to note is that it comes in the pot (which I've included a picture of) and they had charged me a small deposit for the pot. When I returned the pot then they returned my deposit! If you're looking for a spot to eat with your family or friends then I'd recommend checking them out. Minus two stars for the following: 1.) 15% Service Charge automatically added. This is just to repeat the point as many other reviewers have said. I would just be VERY CAREFUL as the 15% service charge is already added and you don't add another 15% after you pay. There is still the traditional " Tip " line at the very end when you sign the receipt. 2.) Service The food actually came pretty quickly despite them being very busy so I do appreciate that. However, no waitress / waiter ever came to check up on us unless we flagged them down. There seems to be a shortage of waiters right now due to COVID so I'll attribute the reason to that. Just don't expect 5 star service when you are there. Other than that, the food was pretty good. It's not the best Dim Sum place I ever had but I enjoyed the food and thought each dish was pretty good. The big highlight of this place personally is that every dish that was served came out HOT. I was searching for a dimsum spot in the Tri-Valley area that could accommodate a group of 11 with a lunch reservation. I called two other restaurants in the area (ahem, Koi Palace & Mayflower) and neither of them took reservations, no matter how big the group size. Enter, King Wah...to the rescue! I grew up in the 626 during the heyday of unreasonably low, unilateral pricing for all dimsum dishes (like $2.88 for all dishes, seeeriously) so it rather pains me to go to dimsum these days and see prices STARTING at $4.95 and going up with each tier. But hey, inflation right?! King Wah is priced on the slightly lower side versus its aforementioned competitors, with dimsum dishes ranging from $4.95 to $11.50. We were seated quickly, ordered via paper menu (no dimsum carts here as expected), and food started coming out super fast. Portions were pretty generous and flavor for everything we ordered was on point! Since I'd chosen this place sight unseen, I was happy all of my friends seemed pleased with the food. After we finished eating, we were happy to walk around the plaza, which has MULTIPLE boba and dessert options haha. Overall, dimsum at King Wah was as pleasant of an experience as it could be. My family found our go to place for delicious Dim Sum and Our Dinner fix. Everyone is very nice and friendly and I am very glad to have known this place. It all started 2 years ago when order to go every Sunday for our family lunch and even get together lunch take out. When finally, it open to the public and there were outside seating and that was great joy. Indoor dining open even way better. We always get dim sum lunch- SiuMai, chicken feet , soup dumpling , noodles, soy sauce prawn and etc. Dinner - crab meat with fish maw soup; xo beef, 2 type of vegetable and etc They have so much variety that we would come at least 2-3 a week just to eat there. We even would celebrate birthday, graduation and pre-wedding ceremony at King Wah. They were able to accommodate our special request within their means and we were always been taken care off of our party. Their food served always fresh,warm and DELICIOUS. All I can say that when people ask where they should eat. My recommendation if you are in the neighborhood of Pleasanton/Dublin or just want delicious Dim Sum or any Chinese Food try them first. King Wah is located inside Pacific Pearl in Pleasanton. I was at Pacific Pearl and was hungry. I walked by this restaurant and discovered they offered indoor dining. I decided to try it out. The staff were friendly and attentive as I was escorted to a table. Social Distancing and Face Masking were enforced. I was given a menu and Tea. The restaurant is right at the front of a food court. The restroom is a shared restroom with the rest of the food court. Parking is limited and in a shared lot with other restaurants and an Asian market. Good / fast service, delicious food, and they are baby friendly with high chairs available. The pig custard buns are not only cute but they are delicious too. Love that they give you a thermos filled with hot water to help refill the tea pot. This is a great spot that has dim sum all day. We had the basic stuff (hargow, siumai, shrimp balls) and also ordered their beef fried rice, green beans, and salt and pepper fish. Everything was really good! I did get some desserts but I think we will pass on the mango pudding and the fried durian next time. I like my mango pudding creamy, but maybe they'd don't make it creamy for the lactose intolerant. And I like my durian more sweet haha and I do like the "not too sweet" desserts, but it needed just a BIT more sugar for my liking. The gf, pooch, and I really felt like "Chinese", and we weren't happy after walking around the plaza with the available options at Pacific Pearl. So, we went in. I dedicate #ThankYouThursday to King Wah. This is a special story I'd like to share. A long time ago, my dad and his brother had a falling out. Fast forward to 2019, I found my cousin through 23andme. Then my aunt found me on Facebook and reached out to me saying that she wanted to get together for dinner at King Wah. I honestly thought that I would never see this part of my family ever again. Reuniting after so long, I was pleasantly surprised to see how happy they were to see each other. We were able to pick up where we left off and it was as if the 17 year gap never even happened. We recalled memories from the past and shared happenings in the present. From that time on, we went back to King Wah multiple times, because it's my uncle's favorite restaurant. We always order his favorite dish, which is pan fried tiger prawns. Their sautéed beef cube steak with egg tofu is really good too. And you can't go wrong with the west lake minced beef soup. They also have this mango dessert with condensed milk that is bomb. I don't usually spend holidays with my own family (since they don't do anything), but this time things were different. We spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Chinese New Year together. One time we came here for dimsum and ordered so much food and it was all so delicious! There was this meat pastry thing that was amazing. They also have fried chinese donut wrapped in rice paper. Their customer service and friendliness has gotten worse and worse. I've had bad experiences here before but I thought I'd give them a try again after a few years. It's just very mediocre. Asking for help or service is like begging them for some service. Asking for water, getting hot sauce, etc.. no friendly faces. I very much suspect that's the case because of the automatic 15% gratuities/18% for parties of 6 that everywhere is charging. But there's no more drive to provide quality and friendly customer service. They are so hasty with their service and all the employees really don't want to be there. That was experience before with this place.. First thing that happened was they spilled a whole cup of water all over our table and on us.. we didn't order the tea and just cold water. They probably didn't like that and hastily and sloppily brought the water out.. pretty sloppily put the water on the table. Well, it went everywhere.. Then when we got the bill, they CHARGED us 18% service charge. WTF? We had 4 adults and 1 toddler (5 people total). I was pretty shocked, I asked them about it, why the heck are they charging 18% service charge, their answer was that you're on a big table? wtf.. how freaking hilarious. We didn't choose the table, they sat us down on the table. I would give that or more in tips anyways. But for the service that we received, and hidden fraudulent fees, I think is a big no-no. King Wah is another reason why folks in the East Bay no longer need to endure the hassles of crossing the bridge into San Francisco to find solid authentic traditional Cantonese food. King Wah is definitely just as good as many of the popular spots in San Francisco, and I might even go out on a ledge and say that it's even better than some places in the City. The Live Lobster Porridge was the star of the show! Just point and choose your lobster from their tank (live fish and crab are also available). Surprisingly, they actually brought out the nearly 3-pounder to our table while it was still alive before they prepared it. That was cool! If you'd rather not have a live lobster appear before you on your table, just let them know. The porridge was amazingly good! Nice creamy rice, which wasn't too thick or thin. I'm definitely coming back for round two!! Another big-time winner for me was the Shrimp with Scrambled Eggs Over Rice. SO Bomb!! For just $14.00, we got a ginormous plate of rice that could've served 8 people. Definitely,​ one of the BEST versions​ of scrambled eggs over rice I've had in the Bay Area recently. The gravy was just perfect with ribbons of eggs nicely coating the rice, exactly the way it should be done. Too often, I've gotten clumps of eggs instead. Just a bit more gravy would've been nice though since there was so much rice. You'll find me back here for this dish too! We also got a bunch of traditional dim sum items: the shrimp dumplings, pork shumai, egg custard buns (shaped as adorable pigs), and shrimp crepes. All were standard and came out fresh and piping hot. The egg custard buns were definitely cute, but my least favorite among our dim sum picks. The egg custard filling just wasn't as creamy as I would've liked. I did like that they automatically served the soy sauce on the side with the shrimp crepes without us having to request it. Prices are a bit higher compared to many places in the City, but I don't mind the upcharge at all in exchange for dining in a new, clean and very pleasant setting. Service can be hit or miss. We started out with a waitress I wasn't really that happy with, but I managed to "make a swap" and got a very helpful and friendly waiter who really added to a very overall pleasant dining experience. The service was not that good. The waitresses were not around the whole time. We tried to get an extra chopsticks, and we finally needed to get it ourselves. The food was ok, but not great. For the bill, they enforced to pay 18% tips even they posted a note outside that 15% tips was required for less than 6 people, and 18% tips was for 6 people and above. The food isn't bad, but the service and honesty of this restaurant is pretty bad. The prices on the menu are not the price they put on our bill. This is a scam and it is also illegal due to false advertisement. This is how Target & Safeway get fined from class actions because they put a lower price tags, but charged customers higher prices at checkout. And they also put in mandatory tip regardless of part size without telling customers, so I am sure many customers double tipping them by accident. I know businesses are in the game of making money, but ripping customers off in a dishonest way isn't a way to build long lasting business now a day. I don't want this restaurant to shut down because this is the only dim sum place at the plaza, but people need to be aware of their malpractice. read more

The food was overall pretty good. I've been her multiple times with my extended family, and I always enjoy the shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, xiao long bao, chive dumplings, and more. However, the size of all these dishes was so much smaller than I'm used to. The shrimp dumplings and XLB were half the size of typical dim sum restaurants, and the chive dumplings were probably a third of the size. I know portions get smaller with time, but this seemed a little extreme. I was excited to see that they had Portuguese egg tarts on their menu(in addition to the regular Cantonese egg tarts). I had to order them, as I had just gotten back from Portugal and wanted to compare them. I knew they wouldn't be as good as the ones I had on my trip, but these were essentially the same as the Cantonese egg tarts. I was super disappointed because I wouldn't have ordered them if I had known that they were going to be the same. I'm not a huge fan of Cantonese egg tarts because I don't like the crust, and I thought these would have a much flakier/crispier crust than they did. I won't be ordering these again, but I would come back for the other dim sum. Just be prepared to order a lot of dishes and spend a decent amount of money. read more

We ordered steamed surf clams to go for dinner along with other stuff. But we realized the surf clam very mushy and not fresh at all. Called the restaurant to complain and was told that they just got delivery of surf clams today and it's impossible to not be fresh... instead of offering me a refund or replacement, they even ask me to give them my phone number so that they can send me a picture of their freshly delivered surf clam. It's just incredibly ridiculous. Very disappointed experience. read more
