i had 2 small plates - the pork chop and the fried chicken. i am not sure what i was expecting but it was good but not great. i probably will not be back but that's only because we have several other options that i am more fond of. the place was quite small and drew a good sized crowd. looks like they take a break in mid afternoon and people were still coming in at odd meal times which is a good sign. read more

Having lived in Taiwan for 3.5 years and becoming familiar with Taiwanese cuisine, I expected a lot out of this restaurant. King chops definitely did not disappoint. This place has the most amazing pork chop and brought back memories. I found it on Yelp and drove up to Irvine just for some delicious pork chop and rice. Their cold dishes were also amazing and was exactly how I remembered real Taiwanese food. Definitely worth my drive from SD to Irvine and will go back whenever I get a chance to go up again. I highly recommend the seaweed and bean curd (both cold dishes) and of course their amazing and juicy and fresh pork chop rice. read more

UPDATE: 4.25 STARS Management reached out and admitted the portion of the noodle I received was a mistake on their behalf. For that reason, I decided to up my rating an additional 0.50 pts - It's not because I cared for an apology. But, for management to acknowledge a customers complaint is an indication that they care about customer satisfaction and customer retention. Very important in establishing a successful business! With that said, it still doesn't change how I feel about their Minced Pork Dry Noodle or that their price is relatively priced slightly higher. Pork Chop rice is a stable dish in Taiwanese cruise. But for what it is, palm-sized pork chop with 3 small sides, and in comparison to other places that serve the like, $9.95 is about $0.70-$1.00 more than what it's worth, even in Irvine. But not denying the fact, their pork Chop is good! read more

I came here based on a friend's friend recommendation to eat here. I rarely have Taiwanese food and this is probably my second or third time having it so I really don't know how authentic it is. I order the dry noodles with pork chops since they ran out of chicken. That was a bit of as let down to be honest. However, the pork chops was amazing! I didn't even know it was pork till I bit into the bone and remember it was pork chops. And the dry noodles wasn't completely dry and it had some broth at the bottom. Don't forget to mix it up. It looked blend but it's really flavorful! I highly suggest trying this if you're into noodles. Prices: Not expensive at all! Would come back! read more

When I am craving porkchops with noodle soups, I automatically go to Kingchops. In general, their porkchop is well seasoned and not of the super battered/crunchy variety. However, I would probably put their porkchop on the smaller side compared with what you pay for. The noodle soup combo with the porkchops is above average. The combination together is what makes me come back Kingchops over and over again. However, if I am feeling like getting porkchops with rice, I tend to go to I-Tea (when it's their daily special), Popcorn Chicken or Hako. Keep in mind though that they are not the same style as Kingchop (for example, Hako's porkchop is more battered/crunchy). Overall, I consider Kingchops a solid 4 star - I think it's a solid restaurant but perhaps a tad bit expensive for what you pay for. If it was $1-2 cheaper, I would give it 5 stars. read more

UPDATE for 5/24 visit - The place was crowded last night. I was not expecting that on a Wednesday. We were seated quickly as the person clearing the tables was hustling like no other. Well, I take it back. The waitress was actually hustling more than the person bussing the tables! She was literally running back and forth. The restaurant is small, but for her to want to save the second or two when people are waiting truly shows that she cares and wants to "give face" (sounds weird typed out in English) But she wasn't doing "hurrying" in a way that made me feel like I was being rushed which was a nice thing. Now to the real update because I don't care to rate restaurants based on purely service. In addition to the regular dishes we get (boiled veggies, pork chop, chicken, preserved tofu / egg) we also got the pork cabbage dumplings. They were really delicious and tasted fresh. In all honesty, I have been on a low carb diet, but these were worth the carbs, haha. These will definitely become a go to addition. read more

They have the best porkchop and fried chicken in town!!!! Oh in my memory, it's even better than what I had in Taiwan. The porkchop is perfectly cooked to golden and crispy, yet tender and juicy inside. Surprisingly enough, not greasy at all!! By the way you have to try their iced tea!! read more

I was looking for AJ restaurant but I clicked this rest instead as a direction so here I am just walked in. And of course they greet me with their native language that I don't even know cause I'm an Asian impostor. Anyway, we looked on the menu and everything looks good in front of me. We originally want to order their famous Chicken Leg but I just missed it by a minute they run out of it. So we ordered Porkchop with rice, Porkchop with dry noddle, Pork minced over rice & beef stew soup. EVERYTHING IS GOOD!! Inexpensive, nice place & away from the crowd of Jeffry & Walnut. Food quality here used to be good but lately the food quality seems to have gotten worse. Ordered the chicken leg rice and dry beef noodle. Neither of us finished our meal, the chicken leg was dry/ side dishes were bland and the noodle from the beef noodle was chunky,stiff and inedible. We will probably not be ordering from them until food quality improves. read more

I ordered the pork chops with rice, which had 3 side dishes that were incredibly tiny in portion. The meal itself is not very filling and I honestly don't think it's worth $9. read more

Omg the pork chop here is amazing! I've heard of this shop before since they have one in Rowland heights but never been until last weekend and I thought the pork chop rice was great. Definitely, definitely not a fan. This shop demonstrated a complete disrespect for food and their customers. The hardboiled egg was cut in half so it was obvious at that it was overcooked (the grey patina on the yolk). Also, it was cold... when the rest of the dish (dry noodles) was hot. By "dry noodles" they actually mean, wet noodles without the soup. It's not a stir fried noodles, it's the same boiled noodles, without most of the soup...there was still some soup but not much. Oh, noodles were also overcooked and soggy. Then there are the porkchops... I'd describe them more like "soggychops". I could not finish either the "dry" "noodles" or the "soggychops" Would not recommend. read more

One of the best Taiwanese porkchop in Orange County!! I always come order their pork chop rice after work. The portion for the bento is big. I could never finish eating it in one meal! Their pork chop rice comes with 3 sides (veggie, bean curd, tea egg). The mince pork on top of rice is also very authentic Taiwanese. I would say Kingchop's porkchop is much better than A&J's porkchop by a lot. The owner is also super friendly. I would recommend this shop to all of my friend! read more

Had heard good things about this place and was happy I had the chance to try it! I had a party of 2…read morearound 2:30PM on a Sunday. There was a crowd of people waiting outside so I was a bit nervous that it would take really long. But we added our name to the waitlist on the iPad outside and we were sat in less than 30 minutes (when we went on the list, we were party 13). The wait went by super fast! By the time we finished our meal, there were lots of open seats. I first heard of this place as a "copycat Din Tai Fung". I actually think it's better to think of this place as another Taiwanese restaurant that serves similar food to DTF, but not a copycat. Although some of the popular items are the same (XLBs for example) the restaurants are definitely different. Firstly, the service here is SO FAST. And all the servers were really kind! We ordered our food and it felt like everything came out within MINUTES of each other. By the time we had all our savory dishes, I had only taken one bite out of the first dish. That's how fast it was! Haha We ended up ordering: Spicy XLBs, Beef Roll, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, and Taro XLBs for dessert. Everything was DELICIOUS! My husband's favorite was the Beef Roll, while I think my favorite may have been the soup. The Spicy XLBs (4/5) were great! They felt quite large as I ALMOST had to eat them in two bites (but like why would I ever do that). Flavor was great and I thought there was actually very little spice in these. Compared to DTF'x XLBs, I thought these were just as juicy, but less ginger-forward (which made it feel less flavorful), and more sweet. I was personally missing some acid and wanted a bit more salt cuz it was a tad sweet. The Beef Rolls were pretty good too (4.25/5)! Nice and crispy. Even though it's pan fried, it felt light because of the vegetables. But I'd definitely order again. Now for my favorite, the Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5). WOOWWEEE! She's spicy! And I have a good spice tolerance so beware. I loved the chewy noodles too and even the noodles on their own were spicy cuz they clung onto the broth. A really delicious soup! I'd love to eat this on a cold winter's day or when I'm sick. Delicious! The Taro XLBs (3.9/4) were pretty good too, but skippable. They weren't too sweet, which was nice. They had a lovely consistency and good taro flavor. But compared to everything else, they weren't that special. Overall, a really delicious restaurant! I'd definitely come here if I was craving XLBs/Taiwanese food.

I had a really unpleasant experience at this restaurant. When I arrived, I let the waitress know that my phone camera wasn't working, so I couldn't scan the QR code menu. I politely asked if there was a printed menu available, but she was very dismissive and just said, "Only QR code." Trying to make it work, I found their takeout menu online, but she seemed visibly annoyed that I hadn't ordered yet. When I tried to explain, she cut me off and told me to just use the takeout site without realizing it was for takeout orders. I placed my order anyway, and she said it was fine. After waiting a while, she told me she hadn't received my order. I reminded her it was a to-go order since I couldn't access the dine-in menu. She eventually found it, and I asked if I could just eat there. At first, she said no because it was marked as takeout. When I reminded her again about my camera issue, she finally said, "Fine, you can eat here," but with such attitude that I felt uncomfortable and just left. To top it off, she didn't even include any utensils with my order and she didn't even apologize for the misunderstanding. The food was okay, but honestly nothing special definitely not worth the experience I had. I left feeling unwelcome and embarrassed. I love this place so dang much. My boyfriend recently introduced me here and I've already been back a couple times now. Definitely developed a newfound love for Taiwanese food. I've tried the Spicy Wonton Noodles, which is served dry and totally delicious. The wontons are big and juicy and I just love that I get to have two of my favorite things in one dish: wontons and noodles. They also top it off with this minced pickled vegetable (similar to relish, but not relish) and all the flavors just go together so well. Their pork chops are FANTASTIC but I must say, I fux with their chicken legs more. I typically order one of these guys with my Spicy Wonton Noodles. Everything is relatively inexpensive but for those looking for the best bargain, they do have a combo dish where you can get Taiwanese Noodle (dry or soup) with a side of pork chops. Also - SHOUT OUT to Wilson and the rest of their friendly staff. Wilson was really helpful during my first visit and gave lots of good recommendations, including the chicken leg tip. I usually get it with the delicious pork bone broth however I am starting to really enjoy the dry noodle ever since they started serving complimentary free green tea. I think the free green tea is served all day but for dine-in only and you get free boba with check-in. The deep fried pork chop is marinated to perfection, juicy on the inside and not too oily on the outside. The service here is always on point and attentive. Read the reviews on YELP and quite a few people recommended the Chill Chicken. Right away, they welcome you with a smile. Not too many Caucasians which is a good sign. :) Robert, one of the servers, was very helpful. He recommended the Chill Chicken "dry" which means without sauce. Right choice. The staff does not interact much other than delivering of the food but he was friendly and helpful. Ambiance is surprisingly luxurious and comfortable. We usually also get the cold dishes as appetizer. You get to go up to the counter to select the three choices. The server is usually generous with the amount of the cold dishes. The interior is nicely decorated and can host large groups. Most of the dishes are spicy representing the regional food of Yunnan.
