Anytime I drive to Connecticut from down south, I go out of my way to eat at King Chef. Tonight, we started with the fried chicken. Served up hot, tender and moist. It was excellent. The honey boneless spareribs were so good as was the fried rice that came with it. Wonton soup was very tasty. We tossed in a few spoonfuls of white rice & the soup was even better. The chicken and vegetable stir-fry was thoroughly enjoyed. Left overs? You bet! The staff is fast and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Best fast food Chinese restaurant in the hood! and maybe all of the five boroughs. I had the General Tso's chicken w/brown rice lunch special today. It only cost me $6.53. What sets this place apart from others is that they use huge chunks of white meat in their lightly breaded chicken dishes. Most fast food Chinese restaurants skimp out on the chicken and over bread their chicken to maximize profits while sacrificing quality. Now King's Chef makes a General Tso's chicken fit for royalty. Their pork fried rice also has a generous amount of smoky pork bits inside. I like that they have the option to get brown rice which has a slightly toasty flavor to it. Their fried chicken wings have a specially seasoned batter on it that no Chinese chicken wing can compete with. Since the fried chicken wings are made to order you have to wait a while but I'd say it's worth it. The egg roll is by far the best egg roll ever because they aren't cheap with the amount of pork they put inside. Usually you get a whole lot of cabbage and no pork. Of course the food will be greasy but it is sinfully addicting. I convinced myself the General Tso's is healthy because it's all white meat. I successfully fool myself with every trip here but I wouldn't suggest anyone on a diet step in. I read the prior review and for sure can sympathize; however, i've eaten here for almost 8 years on a regular basis, and can tell you that myself and my friends have been satisfied 98% of the time, which I can say is pretty good. I think everything depends upon what you order. Me? I LOVE their fried chicken and their fried chicken wings... best value bar none. Tasty, crunchy, hot and juicy. Yeah, it's really good stuff. I also LOVE their shrimp and brocolli in a white sauce, I usually ask them to make it a bit spicy, too. I'm NOT a fan of their general tso's chicken. I don't like their sauce, but they are great for other things, like scallion pancakes, fried crabsticks, fried squid, etc. My son and I go there very often. I'd recommend this location over most other chinese food in the area. read more

I always got chinese food here after youth group and the food here is def a trip to memory lane. I swear they got the best fried chicken here LOL its like they put crack in that batter son! So i got the half chicken with pork fried rice combo with a ginger ale tday lol. The pork fried rice is on point and the chicken is real crispy. Other honorable mentions is the general tso and the sweet and sour chicken. The owner seems cool and outgoing as he has photos of himself with the mets. Ordered the pepper steak and chicken with peanuts and a hot and sour soup while I was visiting a friend in the area. We had it delivered. The food came pretty fast and the portions were very generous. The chicken was really good. There wasn't enough beef in the pepper steak, though. The hot and sour soup was pretty good as well. I went there yesterday for lunch. The rib tips in black bean sauce lunch special was not to my liking and the pork fried rice was bland. I have been here many times before and usually the food is good, but not this time. The meat was not hot, but the sauce was ok. The cook did not prepare it well. I ate half and left. Almost eight dollars for the special with a can of iced tea. The owner was at the counter, a loud raspy Chinese guy that had crusty lips. Just disgusting. Big takeout business. The food here is great, I always go eat and order for deliveries. The driver is very nice, he knows me, but the last few times I called, they are very rude, they give u an attitude, specially the manager old guy, he has a big anger management issue. He screams and hangs up on u on the phone. My question is, where is the customers service. Well, they have none! They disrespected my poor wife which has no experience in ordering out, but it wasn't cool. When I go there to eat, you hear him scream at people over the phone...lol So do your self a favor, do not order over the phone! They are bad communicators and have no respect. One thing Northeast Queens doesn't need is another Chinese restaurant but King Chef stands out as one of the best that I've ever had. My personal favorites are Lemon Chicken and the best shrimp toast I've ever tasted. Even such mundane staples like egg foo young and chow mein are delicious. There are Chinese take outs that cost less but that oft repeated phrase "you get what you pay for" applies here.
