Food was bland. Took forever to get my falafel & fries (15+ min). They didn't have any ketchup or sauces. Didn't seem to care.

Hungry Pocket makes the best falafel I've ever eaten…read more I started going here in 2009 while attending SMC. It was the first falafel I'd ever tried. Since that time, I have eaten falafel not only in different LA locations but also at locations across the country while living in NYC. Verdict: from coast to coast, Hungry Pocket makes the best falafel I can find. All other falafels seem to taste like dirt in my mouth in comparison. If you don't like falafel, you just haven't tried Hungry Pocket yet. I will edit this review if I find better falafel or if Hungry Pocket has changed/changes their recipe (will be visiting tomorrow for quality assessment purposes). The ambiance is that of a hole in the wall that you only know about if you went to SMC or know someone who went to SMC. You don't want anything to change because the whole point is that it feels like a hole in the wall that no one knows about. The service is direct. You order, they make your food right in front of you, you get it when it's ready, you eat it, and you are grateful. The baklava is also the best baklava. You should get a piece for dessert. Thank you, Jeff!!!

We also got the showafel with chicken - the chicken had a nice char on it. Overall, good for a light lunch. The inside is cute and has lots of seating. We were a party of six, and the staff was very accommodating, arranging tables for our group. We love trying halal restaurants, and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the Mega Feast, which is listed for 4-6 people. Honestly, it was way more than enough food for six people! Luckily, that meant lots of leftovers for the next few days. The feast came with beef and onion sambusa, chicken, cheese roll, beef kebab, chicken and beef shawarma, baba ganoush, hummus, fattoush salad, rice, fresh pita, garlic sauce, and tzatziki sauce. Everything was genuinely delicious. The meat was flavorful, juicy, and cooked perfectly. You can build your own shawarma wraps with the pita, hummus, and toppings, or enjoy everything over rice like a shawarma plate. Either way, it was amazing. We had a wonderful dinner and left happy and full. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

I have to say, the online ordering system was super user-friendly and a total breeze to navigate. And the best part? My food was ready exactly when it was promised, which I really appreciated - points for efficiency! Now, about the main event - the food. I went for the chicken Kabob and while it certainly wasn't bad, it kind of landed in the "just okay" category for me. I felt like it was playing it a little safe on the flavor front, and I couldn't help but think it might benefit from a bit more oomph in the seasoning department to really make it pop. Just a friendly suggestion from a new fan! Overall, it was a smooth first visit.

No signs around stating this when I entered at 8:30 am and all the booths were set up and gleaming. Was approached by your officer who told me at 8:45 am I could browse, which I did. He then came back a second time to harass me and told me "I could only look from the sidewalk" and changed his story. Meanwhile other men around me had already started buying produce. When I mentioned that he was giving conflicting and unclear directions and asked why he kept singling me out when I wasn't buying anything and other people around me were he shrugged his shoulders and he looked angry and followed me around. I asked him to stop following me and asked him if this was what someone was actually paying him to do? He didn't ask the men around me buying produce and food anything, but bothered me, a woman alone. Very aggressive. This is a wannabe Hollywood farmers market, I will not come back. I don't appreciate being treated so aggressively, and for what?!? A huge line formed by 9:00 with impatient people. When they let all these people in at once it becomes pretty chaotic and crowded, long lines form up almost instantly. If they let shoppers trickle in, like every other farmers market does, you could fire the creepy officer/line monitor bothering me and skip long lines as people who come early can trickle in and leave.
