I thought I'd experiment and try the location in Clayton out, it came up in a list of "Top Ten Brunch Locations in STL." When we arrived it was seat yourself, mostly empty with a few tables. We sat down, talked for a bit and noticed that three more tables came in and had menus. "Were we supposed to pick up our own menus to order?" my wife asked. I wasn't sure, went up to the empty hostess booth and looked around to see if there were menus there, foolishly asked a table where they got their menus and they told me the waitress gave them to them. I finally spotted a waitress returning drinks to a table and waved to her to flag her down but to no avail. I walked up to the kitchen area where a couple of waiters were chatting and asked if I could get some menus, they said oh sure they'll send someone over. Half an hour after arrival we finally got our menus. They then gave us plenty of time to pick our food out too, very generous of them. Got into town and was looking for a diner. Found this on yelp and thought we would try it. The waitress was ok, a little off, maybe she had lots of tables. The food was good, my cappuccino was good, but one of the guys got coffee and it was cold. I would probably go back to try again. read more

The service was very friendly, and the $3 bottomless coffee is a great deal. I ordered the slinger, which was not a traditional St. Louis-style slinger (it had pulled pork and chorizo), but was pretty good. I did think it needed some hot sauce and ketchup, but that could be personal preference. The atmosphere was very laid back and felt very refreshing on a sunny day. Shout out to Veronica and superb customer service!!! I had only been to this diner one other time, and it had been over a year ago. I saw them on the morning news last week and they advertised a Long Island Iced Coffee. Now that was a drink, I knew I was going to have to try!! I asked to be seated at the bar, because that is my go-to choice no matter where I dine since I am usually alone. :) Veronica immediately gave me her attention and I told her I wanted to try this drink. She let me know that their location didn't have it on the menu, but she would figure it out. SO, between me and her, we got the recipe, and she made this delicious drink for me!! It was sooooo good!!! A regular was sitting at the bar near me and said he has plans to try this drink next weekend. :) Veronica was also very knowledgeable of the menu and helped me decide on what my meal was going to be. I had the King's Club, and it was very good! I could tell everything was fresh and of right temperatures! The fries had to cool down a bit before I could eat them, they were so fresh!! It may take a few more minutes than some like to wait for their food, but I would rather have those extra few minutes for fresh food. :) This may be my new weekend spot! :) read more

This Diner has a new take on the diner look and feel. The atmosphere is very unique as it didn't necessarily give off diner vibes. I had the Blackened Chicken Pasta. It was tasty but, if you're looking for something well seasoned and flavorful, this wouldn't be my first pick. When I took my leftovers home and seasoned the meal, I liked it. Joined my girlfriends for a birthday girls day out and breakfast was the first thing on the list of to-do's. Our server Mo-Mo was really sweet and attentive and although the diner was a little short on help she did her very best as we appreciated it. I like there food I went to the Clayton location about 1:30 today around 1:45 and was told that they close at 1:00 and the web page says they close at 2:00 get the hours straight! It is difficult to get a seat at the CWE location on Sunday They have good biscuits and gravy! read more

Came across this place not too long ago. It's close enough to the office in Clayton that I've come here with colleagues several times the last couple months. I will say the employees are very friendly. The food is decent. Nothing great but good. The timing is what could be better. From order time to food coming out, has been an average of 40 minutes. This is a long time, especially if you are just on lunch time from work. Hopefully they can figure this piece out as I really want to love this place. Will try again soon. read more

It was a cold, blustery day, so the apple compote almond walnut crunch oatmeal sounded like it would hit the spot. Well, not so much. The apple cinnamon was a tablespoon or two of canned apple pie filling and it was still cold. And the almond walnut crunch was broken pieces of a stale nature valley crunch granola bar. No actual almonds or walnuts. So maybe I chose the wrong item. As pancakes and French toast went to other tables, they looked very good. The roasted vegetable hash, looked and smelled amazing. The place was clean and bright. The service was very good. I will definitely give it another try, but not for oatmeal. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. My mom came in town today and I wanted to take her to a nice Stl brunch experience. I found this place on Yelp and I have no clue how the reviews are this good. It baffles me. We were seated by the hostess and waited well over 15 minutes with no one coming to the table, I had to stop someone and ask who our server was they then sent a lady who spoke so low and monotone we couldn't understand her. She brought waters and I ordered a sprite. She brought the sprite and the glass was visibly dirty with dried food on it. I sent it back and she then brought a sprite in a clean glass but when I took a drink it tasted like it came out of a mold filled machine, the literal taste of mold and dirty water filled my mouth. That was enough for us. I told the server and she just stared at me so confused never apologized never anything just looking in confusion. Went here with the V family on a whim. Honestly it is like a not-as-good First Watch. The theme is chess (a special place in the heart of St Louisans) and is right and airy. The food... meh. Mr V had a bacon burrito: undercooked eggs and raw cheese (aka unmelted) was mediocre. Little Vs got meat-covered waffles. One order was messed up so the littlest V didn't even start til we are almost done. Waffles ok but nothing special. Drink specials (morning Happy Hour) was nice but they are not particularly generous on the pours. Friendly staff. Prices comparable to First Watch. Overall not a terrible experience but we won't be going back. If you like people watching it is a great spot! read more

Had a fantastic lunch at Kingside Diner. Ordered the Chicken Sandwich which is juicy and not too crunchy, had a delicious special type of mayo on there, and coleslaw on the sandwich. There are two types of fries that I'm a big fan of in this world: crinkle cut and whatever you call the type of fries at Kingside. You can look at my picture for a reference but I just love the crispy texture of them. First and foremost. Their selection of alcoholic drinks is amazing! The apple cider mimosa! Oh my! Second, their biscuits (and gravy) remind me of the biscuits you get at Red Lobster. SO GOOD. My friend and I met for brunch on the patio and it was wonderful! read more

Beautiful setting, large menu, staff was friendly but overall the food I ordered was not even edible, so salty : I ordered the signature biscuits and gravy- horrible, there was 7 of us and everyone agreed, too much seasoning, maybe we just got a bad batch ? Service took forever but staff was nice and I think all places are understaffed right now so I guess I can not complain and we still tipped over 20%, I can't see myself going back or recommending. read more

Stumbled upon this brunch spot in Clayton. Have ran by there in the past and always wanted to make it inside! Very modern feel as far as decor. Bloody Mary was and would definitely get again.
