Kisa is a literal blast from the past - the design of the restaurant is very nostalgic and cozy. It feels like you are transported to a very homey mom-and-pop shop. It's decorated with paper calendars on the wall, framed family photos, small square televisions, and more. It is also incredibly popular! A reservation is a MUST for this restaurant. My friend and I booked a reservation for 5 p.m., which is the start of dinner, and there was already a line forming to be let inside. Despite the crowdedness of the restaurant, I did not feel rushed at all, and the server addressed all our questions and checked in on us every so often. The menu is very simple - you have a choice of protein, bulgogi, squid, spicy pork, or bibimbap. Each meal comes with a variety of banchan for each guest. It's all seasonal and includes dishes such as kimchi, pollack soup, fruit salad, japchae, and raw fish (mul hwe). As someone who loves to eat family style and pick at various dishes throughout my meal, Kisa was perfect. I also felt very satisfied with the portions. I decided to pick the stir-fry squid as my protein, and I was incredibly happy with my choice!! After your meal, you will receive a coin to use a vintage coffee machine. You'll receive a to-go cup of coffee or tea! Overall, it was such a lovely experience. The food tasted great and felt authentic. I can not wait to come back. :)

KISA's unique atmosphere is a throwback to the fast casual settings found in Korea for workers on the go. Located on the corner of Houston and Allen, this hot spot is well run by a host of styling young adults. Enjoyed the tray of banchan surrounding my main dish which had a sauce so wonderful, I just lapped it up until it was all gone.

This cozy Korean restaurant is so delicious and unique! I love the idea of having a set menu and being able to choose your choice of protein. The Spicy Pork is so delicious and well-seasoned, and pairs perfectly with the white rice and banchans. The staff are nice and quick, and I enjoyed both times I came here. I recommended making a reservation if possible since it may be difficult getting a table with walk-in since it's first come first serve.

I love the concept behind Kisa. Modeled after cheap eateries from the 80s, this restaurant is outfitted with all the nostalgic pieces from that time. A box television flickered to life with the weather report. An old electric metal fan perched on the ceiling. Framed family photos, a paper calendar, and a wooden clock lined the walls. The vibe is certainly homey. There's a cafeteria-like buzz here. Conversations, metal chopsticks clanging against metal plates, and upbeat music drown out what's spoken between two diners across the table. This place is indeed lively and so well desired. I was lucky to secure an 8 pm table on a Saturday for two, and about 45 minutes into our time, we were rushed out by our server as the seat was booked for another party at 9. This is the only snag in my experience. Restaurants should allow for patrons to stay for at least an hour and fifteen minutes. Standard dining times usually run for an hour and thirty to two hours. Nonetheless, the delicious meals made up for our hastened dining. The menu is simple: You have a pick of three mains -- bulgogi, pork, squid, or bibimbop -- with the banchan already pre-chosen for you. I ordered the bulgogi and my friend ordered the pork. Both were delicious, with the former leaning into the sweet soy sauce flavors while the latter leaned smokey. I enjoyed the banchan as well. The rice was hot and sticky. The tofu, as someone who doesn't normally like it, was silky smooth. The spicy soy-chili sauce that came with it was phenomenal. The sashimi was equally as good, fresh, and not at all polarizing, even for someone who doesn't normally like raw fish. Would I return to Kisa? I certainly would. Hopefully I won't be rushed out next time.

Kisa in NYC is such a fun dining experience. One thing to note is that everyone at the table has to order a plate set, but honestly, it's worth it. Each set comes loaded with a variety of Korean side dishes (banchan), so you get a lot to try. We ordered the beef and the squid. I'm usually not a squid person, but this one surprised me. It was tender, well-seasoned, and really flavorful. The japchae also included minced meat, which added a nice touch. Every order also comes with rice and a hot soup, making it feel like a complete, comforting meal. The space is on the smaller side, but we made a reservation so there was no wait, which I definitely recommend. Super convenient location too, especially if you're coming from Midtown since the subway is literally right in front. I'd definitely come back again and try the pork next time!

Something about this place made me feel like I was sitting in someone's home getting served. We went to Kisa on a Saturday night. There was a very long wait, but I have to say the staff at Kisa were wonderful! They communicated with us through text with updated and they were so kind to us thanking us for waiting so long. The food was standard Korean food, but I loved the way it was served and it was a very large portion.

Been wanting to try this spot for the longest. Put my name down and went to a nearby bar - it was a 1.5 hr wait without a resy. The squid was great and bulgolgi was smoky. Solid protein choices. I wish the banchan was still unlimited refills but it wasn't. None of the banchan was particularly mindblowing & the chicken as banchan threw me off. The (free) cafe machine at the end was a cute touch - you had choices: cafe latte, black bean latte (this was the best), and hot chocolate.

Such a cool throwback experience. We had this in our list for a while and finally made our way for a weekend dinner. The ladies who greeted us and helped us at our table were super bright and friendly. They were helpful and checked in occasionally to make sure we were all good. I went with the bulgogi option which was excellent. Great flavors for the main plus all the sides/banchan that came with it. The soup that came on the side was flavorful and a nice touch. The ambiance is so fun with lots of throwbacks to those kisa restaurants in korea if you're familiar. But even if you're not, you can still enjoy that 80s/90s vibe here all around. Recommended!

Really good even though the menu is short and sweet ! For the bulgogi and spicy pork! We got a bottle of their house soju! Really good ! Highly recommend to make rvsp in advance. We walked in when it opened and got lucky to grab a table for 2ppl. But they had another rvsp 1 hour after which we were ok with.

Representing a staple in the Korean community, Kisa embodies the vibe of the 80s taxi driver's restaurant. The Baek Ban has a little bit of everything that makes this meal super filling and exciting all at the same time. I appreciate how easy it is (just pick your meat) I chose the traditional bulgogi, but everyone at my table picked something different so we could all try. The staff was lovely and quick and luckily we had a reservation so we didn't wait any more than 5 min for a table to be cleared up for us.

    Tony Y.

I have been wanting to try Kisa for a very long time, but during the height of its hype, there were no reservations and the line was down the block every day. We were happy to find out that they accept reservations now. We finally went last night and were not disappointed. The decor makes it feel like you are in someone's home. The staff is super friendly and the service is fast. The concept is simple: you choose one of four entrees and they all come with the same banchan (side dishes). The food is delicious. I ordered the stir-fried squid and my wife got the spicy pork. Mine was definitely the better choice. For 35 USD per person, you get plenty of delicious food served in minutes. After dinner, you can even get a hot sweet beverage from the automatic machine. I definitely understand the hype now and will be back. This place is great.

Cute and simple Korean diner experience. They have a small menu but it comes with a lot of sides. At the end they also give you a coin to use for their coffee machine or you can get a tea. I like the concept and food is great! Food comes quick and the meal is filling!

I haven't been to Korea, (yet) but I did go with a friend who's from there. They shared with me that this place is their go to when they get homesick. Not just because of its authentic and staple foods, but also because the environment reminds him of a small family owned store back home. Personally as an American I think that the menu is a simplistic wonder in a sense. As someone not the most familiar with all the foods you pick your main and then all the sides are given to you surrounding it. A wonderful flavorful variety of Korean staples. Boom! It's that simple. Service is amazing btw.

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

We walked into a warm and inviting space that feels comfortable for both casual meals and group dining, with a dining room that balances a contemporary aesthetic with the familiar energy of a neighborhood spot. The interior is thoughtfully designed, with a layout that accommodates both small tables and larger groups without feeling cramped, and the lighting and décor create a relaxed, approachable atmosphere. The food was one of the strongest parts of the experience, with the dishes feeling thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. We ordered the bossam and found the meat tender with good accompaniments that added layers of flavor and texture to each bite. The kimchi pancake had a nice texture and flavor, with a crisp exterior and a savory, slightly tangy interior that held up well against the dipping sauce. The hot pot options were also enjoyable, especially on a colder day when we wanted something more comforting, and the broth had a depth that made the dish feel complete. The banchan selection added variety to the meal and helped round out the table with different flavors and textures, from the familiar kimchi to the more subtle pickled vegetables. The restaurant also does a good job with dishes that are meant to be shared. Items like the croquettes, grilled dishes, and larger plates make it a good place to come with a group and try different things rather than ordering individually. The dessert options are also worth considering, with items like the tiramisu and black sesame ice cream adding a nice finish to the meal, the black sesame flavor offering a nutty, earthy note that paired well with the sweeter elements. Service was another highlight, with the staff being attentive and keeping the meal moving smoothly even when the restaurant was busy. They checked in at the right moments and offered guidance on the menu without being pushy. Since it is a popular spot in Koreatown, reservations are recommended, especially during peak dining hours. The atmosphere can get lively, but it still maintains a comfortable dining experience, with the noise level staying manageable even as the room fills up. Her Name is Han is a solid choice for Korean food in NYC, especially if you are looking for a place that combines traditional flavors with a more polished dining experience. The combination of quality dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and good service makes it a restaurant worth considering for both casual meals and special occasions, offering a meal that feels both thoughtful and satisfying.

I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

We walked into a stylish but relaxed space that feels suited for both casual dinners and a night out with friends, with an atmosphere that balances energy and comfort well. The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The menu is designed for sharing, and the portions make it easy to order several dishes across the table, allowing you to try more of what the kitchen has to offer. Hojokban does a good job blending traditional Korean flavors with a more modern dining experience. It is a place where you can come for familiar comfort food while still finding dishes that feel creative and different. If you enjoy Korean cuisine and want a restaurant with a little more personality, this is a spot worth checking out. The Ssambap Set was incredibly satisfying. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh lettuce wraps, rice, banchan, and soup. Every bite was well-balanced and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Mixed Katsu Set, which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a delicious Korean lunch in NYC's Koreatown, Jeong Yuk Jeom is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu!

The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. Not too salty or spicy or fermented. Literally perfect!!! I actually asked for seconds. The cold cucumber broth was really refreshing Highly, highly recommend making a resy!! There's a main dining room and a mezzanine. I sat at the mezz and got an amazing view of the main dining room. Service here is amazing. The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame is that there's a $10 cake cutting service PER PERSON, if you wanted to celebrate a birthday. We got their fried chicken, beef tartare, 2 galbi jjim, and their bossam. Everything was phenomenal. While I think we could've skipped the chicken, the galbi jjim is a must-try. Cocktails are also great here. Amazing dining experience, food, ambiance, service, and I highly recommend.
