Second time there and it does not disappoint! We took advantage of the Happy Hour menu. The Kalifornication drink was excellent--a little sweet but very refreshing. Service and ambiance this place is really nice and has so much more potential. Wish I could give it 5 stars but after my 4th-5th visit the portion sizes are just truly disappointing. The prices would be okay if they would just beef up the plates.. the rack of lamb? You're paying $50 for two mini lamb chops and a tiny scoop of mashed potatoes. The pizzas range from $16-$21 and they just aren't big enough. I do have to add though, the servers and the rest of the employees are great and have a great attitude. Joined with the live music, this is definitely a nice hangout restaurant that goes past 10 pm. Now beverages. Beverages and cocktails for some reason consistently take 10-15 min to reach the table. By consistently I mean the last 4 to 5 times I've visited without fail. I see multiple people in the bar I don't see why cocktails should take that long. My only suggestion would be to change them from two regular size to 3 or 4 mini tacos OR put two tortillas per taco. They were so fresh and full that they actually broke before the last two bites. We started with the Beet Salad - Nicely assembled with Arugula, Sheep's Milk Cheese and meaty portions of Red and yellow Beets. We shared a Shrimp Scampi - a non traditional take on Shrimp Scampi. Sauce was slightly spicy, a little too tangy. The rice served with the Scampi dish was too "broken". Full grained Jasmine Rice would have worked better. The Blackberry, Apricot Ricotta and Bacon Pizza on a Cauliflower crust ($4 extra) was good overall. The concept works. However, using Blackberry Jam instead of fresh Blackberries was too much of a short cut (in my opinion). The Cauliflower crust was worth the additional $4. I just left Kitchen86 and I'm disappointed in the service and quality of food. First I was overcharged for 2 bowls of ramen and an order of garlic fries. I let my 16 year old daughter run in to pay and they charged her $74.63 while the male host flirted with her as if she was an adult. We then drive back to our hotel to find that neither of our ramen bowls in fact had ANY ramen noodles in them. We then had to drive back to the restaurant to pick them up. We brought up the overcharge and showed them the online menu that shows $21 for ramen and $9 for garlic fries and were told "oh that's not correct". We were told they'd give us 20% off but that was it for the inconvenience. I will never return here. The ramen was not authentic, hot or very good and the fries were soggy. Of course, I then turned around and pointed out to this dumb person that I did leave her a pretty decent tip. Even though she did not deserve any of it. Here are 2 issues with this. 1. She is too stupid to calculate the math. 2. She is too rude to keep her stupid opinion to herself. This experience has left a sour taste in our mouths. Regardless of how much one tips or not, no customer desreves this kind of treatment. Overall, I caution anyone to visit this place. YOU MAY BE THE NEXT VICTIM !
