What do I say? This was such a pleasant surprise! I was at the Marketplace because it was the drop off spot for my hot air balloon ride. My friend and I needed breakfast, so figured we would try this out. The menu is somewhat limited to me, however the food was soooooo good. I got pancakes, with a side of 2 eggs and bacon. I also had green tea. When I tell you everything was so fresh and tasted so well. Even the green tea was fresh! My friend had biscuits and jam, eggs and sausage patties. This place is great. Located in oxbow, it's got a great view and is very cool on the inside. We ate a flatbread and a banh MI which I highly recommend. The BF and I decided to check out Kitchen Door after we picked up our bibs for the Napa to Sonoma half marathon. We looked at the menu and everything sounded good so we wanted to give this place a shot. The BF ordered their deviled eggs to start. Though small, they were full of flavor and not too mustard tasting. I wish there was more instead of the 4 halves that we got. Since we had the race the following day, I opted to get the chicken cesar salad and the BF ordered the pot belly pig breakfast dish. The salad was good. I'd be shocked if it sucked. The pot belly pig was also very good. So small but so good. For the small portions, this is fine dining with the prices to match. Not a bad place for breakfast. I had never been to Oxbow Public Market before. I was surprised that so much has changed to downtown Napa. The old Napa is gone for sure. Yet, even thought I was a bit overwhelmed and not much was recognizable to me (except big Mount George in the distance throughout the valley), I did find Oxbow relaxing. I was impressed at how specious, clean and orderly it was for an indoor market. It has the initial feel of a 'Farmers' Market' but has portions that seem more like an array of boutiques or even a promenade. We settled on Kitchen Door and the friendly staff sat us near the window overlooking the view outdoors. We shared the flavorful Miso Ramen and the spicy paprika home fries. (Nicely done for home fries Yet we both thought they were too hot in terms of spice). Sharing entries is okay. But each of us had our own serving of the wonderful Mango-kiwi Tapioca for dessert. What a crowning culinary treat for a yummy luncheon afternoon; it was outstanding! To compliment the food we both had a glass of Mums' Napa sparkling brute wine. A very nice way to experience the wine country, especially on a fine sunny spring day. Last week, weather was almost perfect. Service was outstanding. For the budget conscious, Kitchen Door is a bit pricey. Yet, if you are in Napa to take in the wine and the weather, its a deal. Because, in some places - especially when wine tasting, just to taste wine at some of the wineries is $50,00 or more, per person. Here you get an all-orginal menu of items, excellent service, and located in a bustling market (so lots of things to see and buy) as well as a wonderful view next to a full window. I've had great service and I've also been actively ignored after being seated for 20+ minutes. Have had a bar tender passive aggressively clean really close to us trying to get us to leave because we just ordered a drink instead of food. What we swallowed: GUITTARD HOT CHOCOLATE AND CHURROS: The hot chocolate was perfect, topped with the fluffiest whipped cream. The churros were perfectly crispy, evenly coated, and moist on the inside. Just perfect. TERIYAKI CHICKEN WINGS: They had a good flavor to them, a bit too sweet, but perfectly crispy and fried. I could only have two of them. BBQ SHRIMP WITH GRITS AND A FRIED EGG: The shrimp was good, not overcooked, and a bit heavy on the seasoning. The grits and eggs were, of course, plain. hubby and i took my parents up to napa to spend the day wine tasting and enjoying the lovely scenery of wine country. but before any of the festivities began, we had to feed them! we stopped by oxbow market, just outside downtown napa, and before we could explore any of the menus, dad just walked right into this restaurant...he was hangry, so no room for negotiation. this was your typical american restaurant, with hiked up prices since it's in a touristy part of town. we arrived around 1130, so it wasn't too crowded, hence no wait for a table for 4. i ordered the summer salad + roasted chicken ($15.50) which consisted of feta, peaches, an grilled chicken on a bed of spinach, with vinaigrette dressing on the side. the peaches were definitely in season and shone in a beautiful golden red/orange colour, and tasted very sweet and ripe. the chicken tasted fresh, but a bit on the dry side...nothing a little dressing couldn't fix! mom & dad ordered the summer pasta to share, which was a pretty generous portion of pasta with fresh, colourful veggies sprinkled on top. hubby ordered grilled kd beef burger with french fries on the side. for them, the food was just average, tasty, but nothing worth writing home about. the service was pretty standard, and everything was conducted in a timely manner. restrooms were actually outside of the restaurant, so we had to walk around the building to use the facilities. overall, a good place to have a sit down meal, if you're willing to pay a bit more $$ for typical american fare. read more

This is the second time I've eaten here and it's just a very casual and relaxing place to dine. Outside is where I like to eat when the weather is nice, just because it can be loud inside. They have a regular menu and a brunch menu (only available Saturdays-Sundays). Looking at the brunch menu it was a bit difficult to decide since they have a lot of yummy options to choose from. I'm a sucker for eggs benedict so I ordered their Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. The green salad that came with it was a bit salty to me but the Salmon eggs Benedict was perfect. The sauce wasn't too thick or salty, the eggs were poached perfectly, they all blended well. My friend had chicken chilaquiles rojos and it was very good. This review is solely based on service and treatment and not on the food. The food is actually great, but due to our recent visit, I can no longer give this restaurant anymore of my money. We sat outside on the communal patio tables and benches shared by all the restaurant retailers of the oxbow. I bought oysters from Hog Island and brought it back to our bench and to our surprise, the manager of Kitchen Door tells us we can't eat those at his table and need to move one table over. ??? WTF? This is after our party just order $200 of food from the server. Not very neighborly of this establishment to be so ridiculously picky. I completely understand if we were eating inside his restaurant, but we were eating outside in the common area. This really ruined my experience and left a memorable scar. So despite the good food this place has consistently served over the past 4 years we've dined, I'm done with them and will spend my money elsewhere. read more

Came here on a Friday night with a party of 6. We were told it would be a 45-minute wait but it was more like 30. My cousin swears the mushroom soup is the best ever and I agree. The deviled eggs were a great starter, refreshing and creamy. The mushroom pizza was the perfect thin crust and had lots of mushrooms. Even though we're locals, we go to the Oxbow pretty frequently. Kitchen Door is one of those restaurants where you instantly feel cozy and welcome, but the upscale menu still rings true Napa. Tuesday is dollar wing night, which made my boyfriend a happy camper. I'm not a fan of wings, but he said the Korean-style was delicious and they smelled great! I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Asparagus salad. For the price, I would like a little more salmon...there was maybe a couple ounces and that's being generous. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and the arugula was a nice addition. Happy hour goes until 7 pm here which I think is a smart move since 6 pm is generally when everywhere else ends. I love the set up of this place. Tall ceilings and a nice outdoor patio. Apart of oxbow and plenty of parking nearby its a nice stop. We ordered some sodas, mexican style sugar cane out of a bottle and preceded with the wood fire spicy chicken wings, the one eyed pig(Brunch), and a margarita pizza. The wings were amazing. So much flavor and the pizza which was cooked perfectly in the wood fire oven was great. Great flavor, good cheese and nice seasoned tomato sauce. The highlight was the one eyed pig which was some sort of pancake stuffed with cheese and ham, topped offf with bacon and a sunny side up egg. reminded me of a deconstructed Monte Cristo but it was great. My main man Todd is the chef and owner and runs this place. And he is an absolutely wonderful human being and an even better chef with a real flair for delicious bar food that has Asian elements that you really can't quite put your finger on. I love his hot wings and I love his burgers and I even love his deviled eggs. But the real secret on the menu is the mashed potatoes which are just so good with the peppercorn that they come with.. they will be closing in June and relocating downtown within Napa replete with a new liquor license and I even heard rumblings that they will be opening a location in Oahu Hawaii next. So check it out. And don't forget that on wednesdays, you can get wings for a dollar a wing for as many wings as you want... I split 30 with a buddy yesterday and we walked away beyond satisfied. My husband and I stopped at the Kitchen Door for lunch while visiting the Oxbow Public Market while on a wine tour in Napa. We had quite a few places to choose from and this is what we decided on. The staff was nice and the serve was nice and quick. I ordered an Arugula side salad and my husband ordered chicken wings as our appetizers. My salad was very good. It came with apples, pecans and blue cheese with vinaigrette dressing. Everything played well together and it was a great salad. My husband Wings were the bomb dot com. Amazing to say the least!! It was like an Asian style wing with spicy mayo on top. They were served nice and hot. I normally don't eat wings nor do I like them but I tried one and I was in aww. I also waste chicken wings because I never eat past the first little hump of chicken. I don't eat the veins in other words, but these wings I ate every last bit. Definitely a must try!! For our lunch entrees we ordered the Short Ribs with Bacon Fried Rice and the Bành Mì sandwich. The Ribs were very good and I really enjoyed the fried rice. The Ribs and rice were seasoned and cooked nicely. To my surprise the sandwich was very good. My husband really enjoyed his sandwich and I did too. Lol. I thought what the heck it's just a sandwich but the flavors were amazing and created a flavorful sandwich. The fries were also good. They tasted very good when dipped in the spicy mayo. Banh mi hard! Kitchen Door is an unassuming place. When they first opened, touting themselves as a "Todd Humphries restaurant", they did come across as pricey&pretentious. They've improved over the years. Their dining area is more accessible, and it does feel like being in a kitchen, rather than some hipster "grange" (like the now-shuttered SHED in Healdsburg) Their chicken banh mi is phenomenal, slathered in teriyaki sauce, topped with fresh mint&cucumber, on a crunchy, delicious baguette. One can watch the rotisserie spinning over a sizzling fire; the open kitchen format works. The sweet potato fries are addictive. It's a filling, satisfying lunch. I had some Mexican Coke to go with it. Excellent. It's a deal at $22, with superb service. It has a literal open kitchen concept with exposed beams, island of hanging pots and pans, and kids art hung up by magnets. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating The menu works has a nice selection of wine, some varieties come in carafe portion which is more economical than buying by the glass or whole bottle. We had a carafe of wine, Brie cheese plate as appetizer, burger, pizza, and pasta as dinner, strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake as desserts, and espresso and port digestive. This totally to about $174 for three people. Some of the dishes tasted saltier than expected, or in the case of the chocolate cake, it tasted like there were salt kernels sprinkled throughout the dishes.
