Yeah.. so I'm not sure if I ordered on a bad night or something but I ordered to go last night and spent over $60 and was not pleased at all. I ordered the jerk pasta with veggies and I truly don't know what was jerked about the meal. The pasta sauce was more like watery than anything and not the slightest taste of jerk. Maybe I needed to add a protein but that pasta didn't taste anything like I expected and had I known I wouldn't have ordered it :( I was so bummed because I was starving and ended up eating nothing. I bought my bf the salmon which he said was good but I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese- which was a large helping- as a side. For some reason I just wasn't feeling it so I gave it to my boyfriend who did not enjoy is at all. I plan to call today and complain about the meal but I'm super bummed that it wasn't good. First time at Kitchen Savages which is a new restaurant that opened in my neighborhood, Anacostia. I took my mom, sister, and father here for dinner tonight. We were seated right away and throughout our meal, the service was good. My father got a Classic Caesar Salad with chicken; he said it was great. My mother ordered a House Salad and said it was fine, though I think she would have liked it more if she added a protein. I got the Apple Kale Pecan Salad which was tasty. My sister got the Strawberry Spinach Salad. We shared the Honey Garlic Wings which had a good flavor. Overall, really nice place. I will come here again. read more

So good!! Went for a girls' night out, and we truly enjoyed it. It's a cute spot but small, so if you plan to go later in the evening, I'd suggest making a reservation. The hostess sat us immediately and our waiter, Romello, was very helpful. We each had an alcoholic beverage, and they were just ok. Now, onto the food. Delicious!! I had the honey garlic salmon which came with mashed potatoes and spinach. The entire meal was seasoned perfectly. My friend had the jerk rasta pasta with salmon. She said it had a little kick, Romello told her it would, but it was tasty. We ordered the red velvet cake, chocolate cake, and banana pudding cheesecake for dessert. My favorite was the red velvet. The chocolate cake had a cake like brownie texture. The cakes are outsourced from a local bakery, so they were cold due to being refrigerated. So if you prefer your cake room temperature, order it ahead of time. I didn't have the cheesecake, but my friends loved it. I'd definitely return to try the lambchops and have the salmon again. Cute little swanky spot. Customer service was excellent. Our waiter, Romello, was very attentive knowledgeable of the menu and very professional. We started off with some drinks. They were ok, but not much alcohol in them. The quality of the drinks didn't justify the price of each drink. I started off with Kale salad, which was good once I added pepper. They give it to you without the dressing so you have to mix it in at the table. With that being said, if you know anything about Kale, it has to be massaged to soften it up a little bit. So if you prefer a softer massage, Kale, you may want to pass. I ordered the Rasta Pasta with Salmon, and my homegirls ordered the stuffed salmon. Our food was very good and flavorful. I could have eaten my entire meal, but I knew I wanted to get dessert. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake, red velvet cake, and banana pudding cheesecake. The chocolate cake tastes like a brownie, so if you love chocolate, this would be the dessert for you. The red velvet was very cold and hard to enjoy. If it was room temperature, I would be able to gauge the quality of the cake. The banana cheese was literally regular plain cheese cake with banana pudding smothered on top. It was very mediocre. My sister raved about this place so I told my husband that's where he'd be taking me on our next date. The space is very small with seating for maybe 30 plus 8 high top chairs at the bar. The table for 2 was pretty tiny but they were quick about moving the dishes we were done with so it never got crowded. Despite the small size, the decor is very cute with beautiful lighting, blue velvet chairs with gold legs, gold flatware and the walls alternate grass walls and black&white wallpaper. We came on a Sunday and they had contemporary gospel playing in the background loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough to be able to have a conversation without having to yell. We started with a mai tai and whiskey sour. For some reason they tasted very similar and both were weak. They were also served in very small glasses so if I return to dine in I would definitely skip on the drinks. Very over priced for what you get. Onto the appetizers and just wow! The jerk lamb lollipops were well seasoned and juicy. The crab cake eggroll was all lump meat and cooked to perfection. And whatever that sauce was that was drizzled over top of it gave it a little something extra. For entrees we got the chicken and waffles and the honey glazed salmon. The waffle was fluffy and the chicken was crispy and delicious. The portion size was huge too- the waffle took up the plate and there were 3 boneless chicken thighs. The salmon was well cooked and came with mashed potatoes. It was topped with some wilted spinach and a cajun sauce. To note, they add 18% gratuity to the bill which is becoming a trend in most DC restaurants but everyone was nice and very attentive so it was well earned. I really wanted to like this place. Apparently friends and I tried the restaurant when all the waiters called out. The owner and one of the waiters were the only two to host, wait tables and busboy. The only good experience was the waiter and the drinks. Our waiter was honest about the menu and attentive given the circumstances he was given. The bar was fully stocked but ingredients for the menu were not. The food was subpar. Half of the menu was out of stock on a Friday night at 7pm. I ordered the egg rolls for my appetizer. I'll give them a 5 out of 10. I order the catfish and Mac n cheese. (Due to me having no other option). There was more cheese than macaroni and it wasn't seasoned. The catfish wasn't fried well either. The decor is nice. The seating is pleasant. But it's really small, so if it's packed you will have a long wait. It's a fairly new restaurant. Several times I've gotten in my car and drove from Waldorf Md (30-45 minute) to Kitchen Savages just to find out they were closed when online and Yelp the hours showed that they were open. Then if you go to the Instagram page you won't see any updates on their story letting the people know that they're closed. Definitely check out Kitchen Savages. TLDR: nicely plated and tasty elevated comfort food in a cozy and chic setting with excellent servers and pretty good (if a bit overly sweet) drinks. Will definitely return. First, the cocktails: A fun collection of drink options and pretty tasty. The food menu was extensive. Our server, Deb, although new, already knew so much about the dishes and was able to make great recommendations. We were a group of four and ordered different items (short ribs over mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts, honey baked salmon, catfish, jerk pasta, side of mac n cheese, old bay fries). We tried each other's dishes, and everything was delicious. We were all full by the end--too full to indulge in dessert unfortunately--but we didn't leave any food behind on our plates because it was too tasty. The only item I could have done without was the crab cake spring rolls, but that's just my own preferences on how I prefer crab cake; they were creative and plated nicely. If you haven't been to the location in its prior incarnation, the setting is cute--exposed brick, tall windows, vintage-looking wallpaper. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the bar seating was hopping. I look forward to returning soon. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Kitchen Savages. I tried to Cajun Pasta, Classic Caesar Salad, and Ultimate Crabcake Eggrolls and had two drinks. All of the food was delicious, but I just feel like it was overpriced. The decor was cute, but the restaurant was very small. We could tell that the chicken was seasoned and good independently of the sauce. I ordered the chicken and French toast and paid the small upcharge for the peaches.
