Our party of 4 arrived with about 30 minute left of Happy Hour so we took advantage and got some appetizers to share, mussels and crab fries. The mussels were so good! The only thing I needed was some crusty french bread to enjoy the broth. The broth was super flavorful and the mussels were fresh. I decided on the lamb rigatoni for dinner. It had just the right amount of spice and the portion was large enough that I took some home after enjoying the appetizers. Our server was awesome. He was friendly and engaging from the moment we walked in. He knew the menu and made great recommendations.

After a quick staycation in Baltimore my honey said I didn't have to drive to BMore for crab cake egg rolls, (I LOVE those things). He talked up Kitchen Savages and said they had them too and that I could go to DC for them. Keeping his title as the "BEST" to do all things, he brought me here to immediately try them out. Whoa! Okay, okay, so let's be honest, Kitchen Savages is in the hood and it's NOT giving "hood" vibes. Inside the restaurant, it's quite impressive. They have IKEA plates (which are super cute) and the ambiance gives an allure of upscale. Employees hands down, professional and on point! Service is fantastic. Let's get into it! Chicken and Red Velvet Waffle - Alexa play, Can't get enough by Tamia. Oooooooooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You all see the picture, it was delicious! Eggs - Yummy! Signature Seafood Deviled Eggs - Alexa play, Yes by Beyoncé. Ermahgerd, can you love food this way? I'm guilty! Cleans my drool as I'm writing this. Crab cake egg rolls - Alexa play, Faithfully by Journey. I'm going to give them kudos but not sure they beat my beloved BMore staple. Maybe I need more and another go round. Good but not the best I've ever had. Overall my handsome partner in crime does it again, "food", a love language that only taste buds could share! Yelpies, this place gets my stamp of approval but use caution and go during the day. Ladies you can dim your lights on attire. So badly want to give them 5 stars but the price for the area, I'm not sure I'd come back just for the food at this price point. Worth every penny just not in this location.

Was torn between soul food and jamaican food...yelped nearest soul food restaurants and this spot came up! Establishment was clean..cozy/intimate vibe only has 1 large table and and i thnk like 6 medium or small tables ... staff was great, all male which was cool ..different .. food eh...crab stuffed salmon was good...crab egg rolls good...build your own lacked flavor but presented well..catfish dinner eh, the mac n cheese was missing something A CHEESE FLAVOR..FLAVOR in general but it looked good...collards i enjoyed however my mom said she tasted too much sugar /sweetener...and the catfish looked good however it lacked FLAVOR the batter was off... i wouldnt count this spot out regardless of my experience bc it appears to be fairly new and when we arrived it seems as if everyone in the restaurant was putting in orders at the same time so the chef was probably just overwhelmed...

Our server recommended The Chicken Dinner and it was a 10/10! Literally the best wings I've ever eaten. They were cooked to perfection - crispy and saucy. Mac & cheese was also very tasty. Took a little time to come out but it was well worth the wait. For dessert I had the peach cobbler cheesecake and it was fresh and delicious! I was worried it might be too sweet, but it wasn't. Can't wait to go back!

I work in the area and decided to try this place for lunch. The inside is small and intimate so if you have a big party I recommend making a reservation. The bar area has about seating for 6 people, again, not a big inside space. However, the decor is nice with a nice ambiance. The bartender who took my order was very inviting, friendly, and engaging, based on him alone, I am coming back. I just loved the vibes he gave off. Now to the food. I ordered the burger with fries. The burger didn't have any type of seasoning whatsoever. The fries were seasoned with Old Bay seasoning which made them ok. I see that they do have HH, so if I'm ever working late in the area I'll try the HH drinks, not entirely convinced about the food.

Kitchen Savages is hands down one of the best culinary experiences I've had in a long time. The Catfish Mac and Cheese is next-level comfort food - perfectly seasoned, crispy catfish laid over creamy, rich mac and cheese that hits all the right notes. It's indulgent in the best way possible. The Oyster Rockefeller was a showstopper - fresh, flavorful, and baked to perfection with just the right balance of herbs and butter. You can tell real care goes into every dish here. And I can't say enough good things about the owner, Darrell. His passion for food and community shines through the menu and the atmosphere. He's welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly puts his heart into every plate that leaves the kitchen. If you haven't been to Kitchen Savages yet, you're missing out. This place is a true treasure!

Ugh...I wanna love it so much but I simply don't. A relatively new restaurant in the area with very cute decor, great staff but the food is not the best. The crab cake eggrolls are delicious but that's all. I've been for brunch and dinner by myself and with friends and neither time was I impressed. The staff is super nice, but service is slow, even without a crowd. As they're continuing to grow, I hope they're able to work through operational challenges to continue to add to the vibrancy of the community,

Went with the penne alla vodka and I really liked it. The sauce was rich with a little bit of spice and the pasta was cooked well. I added sausage and it paired perfectly. Everything came out hot and fresh. The vibe of the place was cozy, not too loud. Staff checked in just enough without hovering. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes creamy pasta with a kick.

A nice place to dine in southeast DC! I will admit that parking might be a challenge. We did have reservations and we were seated immediately. Our server was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations about the menu. For starters, we tried the Savage Sampler, which consisted of lamb chops, garlic wings and crab cake rolls. Very good! There were so many menu options! I decided to go with the Ultimate Seafood Pasta, and I was not disappointed! Dessert was the cheesecake sampler, and all were really good. They do have a nice cocktail menu as well. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated near the window, so it made for bright lighting. Overall, I was very pleased with Kitchen Savages and I look forward to a return visit.

This place is amazing! Darrell and the staff were so attentive, gave the perfect recommendations and the service was top notice. The food was excellent. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I cannot say enough about this restaurant it s a hidden gem but not for long. If you are visiting be sure to add them to a must visit. If you are local you are blessed to have this place at your disposal. Looking forward to coming back as the music, service, drinks, and vibes are unmatched.

It's a lovely thing to wander through before heading in to eat just a few feet away. The setting itself doesn't feel like Washington at all. With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations. There's also a fun Virginia peanut-centric theme running through the menu.

It is pricey, lucky for me it was my birthday and I could simply enjoy myself. My cocktail was exquisite, forgot what it was called but reminded me of a pina colada, but not as thick. The flavor and the freshness of the Whole fried fish, with fragrant herbs, tamarind and lime dressing was good. The Parker House Rolls were fluffy, but nothing I would put on the highly recommended list. Our waiter was very kind and personable. Other than that, I'm not sure if I would come back. Most people enjoy Caribbean style restaurants that master various fish for a fraction of the price and more food. While the "more food part" may be considered low- brow, I'm sure I am saying what many are thinking.

I was there during brunch service and found a menu that covered a lot of bases. My main interest was seeing if they still offered fried clam bellies, a rarity in the D.C. restaurant scene. Nope, no bellies, but on offer under the brunch appetizers were Stuffies (three baked top neck clams, smoked linguica, lemon, breadcrumbs, house hot sauce, $13), along with more traditional starters, including clam chowder ($7 cup, $12 bowl), fried calamari (roasted garlic pomodoro sauce, fried cherry peppers & artichoke, lemon, $15). I ended up ordering the North Shore Roast Beef sandwich (horseradish cream, BBQ sauce, American cheese, onion roll, with fries, $19). More than enough for brunch and lunch the following day. Service was good, and the meal was excellent. Note the Salt Line's transparency, where it explains that "DC restaurants have been operating with dynamic and significant increases in labor wages, food costs, and the general cost of doing business in DC. We have chosen to implement a 4% operational surcharge - which does not go towards gratuity - as the most comprehensive way to address this." Seems to me to strike a decent balance, but I'm not all that up to date about the living wage issue in the services industry. In any event I respect The Salt Line's management for being up front about their surcharge policy.

Oh and did I mention the couple who sat next to us after that were speaking Italian and sharing pizza and pasta? Paccis is certified FOOD: So oh yeah they serve food here too right. Let's talk about it. Me and the girlfriend love to share everything because why come to a delicious restaurant and only try one dish? Fuggedaboutit! We're sampling over here. She starts with a Hugo spritz that apparently is a "girliepop fave" which I might deserve jail time for typing those words but whatever sue me she liked the drink ok? Antipasti: We tried the eggplant fritti which was delicious. Also shared the beet salad. Also delicious. But I will say that we eat a lot of arugula salads and dry arugula even with all the toppings can be a little rough and I'd love if it was lubed up with a tiny bit of olive oil. Anyway don't hesitate to try either of these. Entrees: Buccatini alla carbonara was awesome. Creamy/cheesy, nice bite through the pasta, and that cured meat or whatever it was. We also had the chicken Marsala which was delicious but if you don't already know, don't ask how it's made so delicious because it's basically all butter and cream. Anyway pasta and sauce and chicken we're all delicious. Desert: Especially in an Italian restaurant this is almost always an automatic tiramisu for me but this time we decided to go with something different. The girlfriend loves a lemony dessert so we tried the limoncello cake. She loved it and I liked it. I would say get it if you're a lemon fan. And bada boom bada bing that's your review. They ensure that your experience is a delightful one, filled with superb pampering service. And then there's the food !!! This is when I was totally floored... for starters the assorted bread basket for the table is absolutely delicious ( I literally had to force myself to stop alternating between the muffins and mini biscuits ) Since I was eating light today I ordered the seafood salad ( chilled lobster & shrimp on top ) and the salad was so fresh and had that crisp salad crunch that mesmerized my taste buds with every bite !!! DC hands down is one of the top restaurant city's in the country and Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab is a big reason I can make that statement with absolute confidence !!!

They could have fit in a thimble. The stone crabs were tasteless. The best was the coleslaw. It took forever to get a glass of wine and ice tea. I will not recommned it to anyone. Ambiance was OK, the place was packed. People were very casual, which surprised me for such an expensive restaurant.

I saw a random post on social media earlier in the week and it's been stuck in my head ever since. I was going to be in DC all day Friday for work and then heading to Bowie for a dance recital so I figured well... why NOT stop by for happy hour oysters? AMBIANCE: Happy hour is 3-6pm I think so. It was LOUD, And PACKED. MAKE THE RESERVATION!!!!! I saw people get turned away bc they just pulled up. I made a nice reservation for 1 and it was great. I sat outside. It had just finished raining so it wasn't too hot at all to do that, and I go hot easy. SERVICE: So, as you can imagine, it was busy busy busy. They have $1.25 oysters during happy hour so of course it's gonna be a crazy time. And on Friday! Well, duh. It was perfect. My server was the besttttt. I was sat outside so when it started raining I did decide to get up and move seats... I know the restaurant has a process but I wasn't gonna wait for them to get to me bc they were busy. So I let my server know I moved and it was fine. This did make it so that I was charged a $30 more on my bill. Yall-- make sure you speak up! They had made a mistake. Was it my fault for moving? Maybe, but I called attention to it and it was taken care of. FOOD: Total I ordered 21 oysters & 2 drinks... excessive? Nope. I think not. The oysters came out SWIFTLY!!!!! so I was so so excited. It satisfied the exact craving I had. I did take some time to be there, so maybe be aware of that. But the service and food was great. At incredible value.

I maybe waited 10 minutes before the bartender came to greet me and he was great. I ordered 3 East Coast oysters and 3 West Coast oysters and they were all phenomenal. I loved the different mignonettes they offered, especially the pepper one. It's a nice space with great natural light and I'll definitely go back for Happy Hour which seems to be their specialty. The HH deals look great.

However, I had a rare craving and Los Cabelleros exceeded my expectations. I am from DC, so I am not an expert on Mexican, but everything here feels authentic. We enjoyed the chips and salsa, quesadilla, queso, steak flautas, and mango drink. I wanted to get the churros so bad, but we were too full. So, we'll get them the next time. The service was friendly and informal. I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe I like Mexican afterall and just hadn't experienced authenticity. Either way, if I ever have a craving or have guests in town that want Mexican, this will be my go to spot.

The Server added an automatic 30% tip and explained it was "management settings" on the point of sales machine. I'm sure it is often overlooked by unassuming victims. Horrible and untrustworthy tactics and individuals. NONALCOHOLIC DRINKS WERE CHARGED AS ALCOHILIC DRINKS. Utter crooks. Food - Well spiced and flavorful. Decent selection to include vegitarian options. Service- left much to be desired. Server was unenthusiastic to say the least. Every aspect of the experience lacked tremendously. Server was impatient and seemed bothered that he had to do any work besides being on his phone and watching the TV in the background; he mess up drinks, and when the food finally arrived he plated incorrectly and got an attitude when addressed in a calm manner. Ambience - slow. Not in a good way. Operations were at best lax and uncaring. Charged for a large party with only 3 people in attendance as a means to hike the overall bill.
