Our party of 4 arrived with about 30 minute left of Happy Hour so we took advantage and got some appetizers to share, mussels and crab fries. The mussels were so good! The only thing I needed was some crusty french bread to enjoy the broth. The broth was super flavorful and the mussels were fresh. I decided on the lamb rigatoni for dinner. It had just the right amount of spice and the portion was large enough that I took some home after enjoying the appetizers. Our server was awesome. He was friendly and engaging from the moment we walked in. He knew the menu and made great recommendations.

After a quick staycation in Baltimore my honey said I didn't have to drive to BMore for crab cake egg rolls, (I LOVE those things). He talked up Kitchen Savages and said they had them too and that I could go to DC for them. Keeping his title as the "BEST" to do all things, he brought me here to immediately try them out. Whoa! Okay, okay, so let's be honest, Kitchen Savages is in the hood and it's NOT giving "hood" vibes. Inside the restaurant, it's quite impressive. They have IKEA plates (which are super cute) and the ambiance gives an allure of upscale. Employees hands down, professional and on point! Service is fantastic. Let's get into it! Chicken and Red Velvet Waffle - Alexa play, Can't get enough by Tamia. Oooooooooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You all see the picture, it was delicious! Eggs - Yummy! Signature Seafood Deviled Eggs - Alexa play, Yes by Beyoncé. Ermahgerd, can you love food this way? I'm guilty! Cleans my drool as I'm writing this. Crab cake egg rolls - Alexa play, Faithfully by Journey. I'm going to give them kudos but not sure they beat my beloved BMore staple. Maybe I need more and another go round. Good but not the best I've ever had. Overall my handsome partner in crime does it again, "food", a love language that only taste buds could share! Yelpies, this place gets my stamp of approval but use caution and go during the day. Ladies you can dim your lights on attire. So badly want to give them 5 stars but the price for the area, I'm not sure I'd come back just for the food at this price point. Worth every penny just not in this location.

Was torn between soul food and jamaican food...yelped nearest soul food restaurants and this spot came up! Establishment was clean..cozy/intimate vibe only has 1 large table and and i thnk like 6 medium or small tables ... staff was great, all male which was cool ..different .. food eh...crab stuffed salmon was good...crab egg rolls good...build your own lacked flavor but presented well..catfish dinner eh, the mac n cheese was missing something A CHEESE FLAVOR..FLAVOR in general but it looked good...collards i enjoyed however my mom said she tasted too much sugar /sweetener...and the catfish looked good however it lacked FLAVOR the batter was off... i wouldnt count this spot out regardless of my experience bc it appears to be fairly new and when we arrived it seems as if everyone in the restaurant was putting in orders at the same time so the chef was probably just overwhelmed...

Our server recommended The Chicken Dinner and it was a 10/10! Literally the best wings I've ever eaten. They were cooked to perfection - crispy and saucy. Mac & cheese was also very tasty. Took a little time to come out but it was well worth the wait. For dessert I had the peach cobbler cheesecake and it was fresh and delicious! I was worried it might be too sweet, but it wasn't. Can't wait to go back!

I work in the area and decided to try this place for lunch. The inside is small and intimate so if you have a big party I recommend making a reservation. The bar area has about seating for 6 people, again, not a big inside space. However, the decor is nice with a nice ambiance. The bartender who took my order was very inviting, friendly, and engaging, based on him alone, I am coming back. I just loved the vibes he gave off. Now to the food. I ordered the burger with fries. The burger didn't have any type of seasoning whatsoever. The fries were seasoned with Old Bay seasoning which made them ok. I see that they do have HH, so if I'm ever working late in the area I'll try the HH drinks, not entirely convinced about the food.

Kitchen Savages is hands down one of the best culinary experiences I've had in a long time. The Catfish Mac and Cheese is next-level comfort food - perfectly seasoned, crispy catfish laid over creamy, rich mac and cheese that hits all the right notes. It's indulgent in the best way possible. The Oyster Rockefeller was a showstopper - fresh, flavorful, and baked to perfection with just the right balance of herbs and butter. You can tell real care goes into every dish here. And I can't say enough good things about the owner, Darrell. His passion for food and community shines through the menu and the atmosphere. He's welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly puts his heart into every plate that leaves the kitchen. If you haven't been to Kitchen Savages yet, you're missing out. This place is a true treasure!

Ugh...I wanna love it so much but I simply don't. A relatively new restaurant in the area with very cute decor, great staff but the food is not the best. The crab cake eggrolls are delicious but that's all. I've been for brunch and dinner by myself and with friends and neither time was I impressed. The staff is super nice, but service is slow, even without a crowd. As they're continuing to grow, I hope they're able to work through operational challenges to continue to add to the vibrancy of the community,

Went with the penne alla vodka and I really liked it. The sauce was rich with a little bit of spice and the pasta was cooked well. I added sausage and it paired perfectly. Everything came out hot and fresh. The vibe of the place was cozy, not too loud. Staff checked in just enough without hovering. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes creamy pasta with a kick.

A nice place to dine in southeast DC! I will admit that parking might be a challenge. We did have reservations and we were seated immediately. Our server was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations about the menu. For starters, we tried the Savage Sampler, which consisted of lamb chops, garlic wings and crab cake rolls. Very good! There were so many menu options! I decided to go with the Ultimate Seafood Pasta, and I was not disappointed! Dessert was the cheesecake sampler, and all were really good. They do have a nice cocktail menu as well. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated near the window, so it made for bright lighting. Overall, I was very pleased with Kitchen Savages and I look forward to a return visit.

This place is amazing! Darrell and the staff were so attentive, gave the perfect recommendations and the service was top notice. The food was excellent. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I cannot say enough about this restaurant it s a hidden gem but not for long. If you are visiting be sure to add them to a must visit. If you are local you are blessed to have this place at your disposal. Looking forward to coming back as the music, service, drinks, and vibes are unmatched.

When everyone who just dined at this restaurant, asks each other, "how does this place stay in…read morebusiness?" when offering such a good deal for all you can eat crab legs and all you can drink. You know it was a solid meal and the experience was excellent! We had a special occasion, and we all came out for all you can eat crab legs. All you can eat cornbread and all you can drink. The alcoholic beverages were limited to Jim beam old-fashioned, red or white sangria, and a limited draft beer select selection. For all you can drink, you would usually expect a water down lower quality beverage, however, that was not the case. The old-fashioned were very well made. The red sangria was decadent and not overly sweet. And the draft beer was a good old draft beer. Caroline was our server. She was absolutely excellent. She was attentive, polite patient with us. Always making sure we were all taken care of. She helped make our meal even better. The decor of this restaurant is very high class. Visually it's very well, appointed with table, linens, cloth, napkins, and cohesive color scheme. With the decor, high-quality drinks and the high-quality food we were more than happy to pay the $70 for all you can eat and drink. I highly recommend this place. I have to make sure to come back sooner than later.

Unfortunately, that's where the experience started to go downhill. The food itself was good, but the service from Jordan honestly put a damper on the afternoon. On such a busy holiday, I understand things can get hectic, but we constantly had to ask for basic things like water and for our dirty dishes to be cleared, and the service was extremely slow and inattentive. I ordered pancakes from the menu. I waited nearly 30 minutes for pancakes because certain menu items apparently had to be ordered separately. And I had to ask about them twice. He keep blaming the kitchen, but I honestly think that it was him. To make matters worse, Jordan spilled water on my daughter's food and on the floor. His shirt was also visibly dirty with food and water stains on the front, which was not the most professional appearance. From where we were seated, we could also see him taking several breaks while the restaurant was busy. I didn't want to complain in the moment because my children planned this outing for me, and I didn't want to put a damper on the afternoon. But for me, service really makes or breaks a restaurant experience. And respectfully, some people are meant to be servers and some people are not. Serving may just not be Jordan's strength. He seemed overwhelmed, extremely slow, and honestly confused for most of our visit. And they were adding 20% gratuity automatically. He did not deserve 20% AT all! He soured my Mother's Day experience which was truly unfortunate. The food and ambiance were there -- the service unfortunately was not. A different server would have made this a five star experience.

The interior leans into a nostalgic Southern theme rooted in a different era, with warm red-brown tones, vintage frames lining the walls, and some duck-related decor. After placing our order, our server brought out a small serving of French onion soup for us to enjoy, compliments of the chef. The soup was incredibly creamy and smooth with a nice acidity. The bits of fried onion on top gave it a sweeter flavor that had us wanting more. SEA ISLAND PEA DIP - 9 Duck Fat Saltines, Benne Seeds The house-made saltines were a nice touch, with a wheat-y and nutty texture and flavor that's missing in the store-bought ones. I love the pea dip, which was mixed with benne seeds, for a smooth, yet gritty flavor. My friend thought it tasted a bit too heavy of a "fennel" flavor, but I personally enjoyed it. FOIE GRAS & WAFFLES - 23 This was easily our favorite dish of the night. The combination of flavors and textures was outstanding: silky, umami-rich foie gras balanced by tart pickled apples, grounded by the familiar comfort of waffle, and brought together with a savory onion sauce and apple butter. The foie gras maple syrup was quite delicious, definitely a unique pairing. PENNSYLVANIA PEKIN DUCK - 46 Given that there would be Peking-style duck breast, with sauce reminiscent of hoisin on the side, we thought there would have been some sort of bun to pair with it. Despite that, the duck breast was so juicy and perfectly prepared. The collard greens were delicious. The fried chicken leg was great with the meat falling off the bone easily. The batter was not overdone either. Definitely a standout dish, with the duck breast being the highlight. GRIDDLED WILD BLUE CATFISH - 31 The dish featured a small slab of lightly battered catfish with a generous pour of the she-crab chowder, which read more like a sauce given how reduced and salty it was on its own. Since we family-styled everything, we only had a couple bites of the catfish each. We enjoyed the peanut potato, but left majority of the bacon and chowder since it was too salty. A few pieces of toast would've gone a long way in balancing the dish, which was a shame, as the chowder itself was quite seafood-forward and savory. "COFFEE & CIGARETTES" - 15 Lastly, we ended our night with our dessert featured on an ashtray. A generous scoop of espresso ice cream topped with chocolate mousse, topped with tobacco caramel and olive oil. There were also espresso morsels on the side, with its bitterness cutting through the overall sweetness of the dessert just a bit. This was good, but a bit too rich and sweet for my taste. While there were a couple standouts, my friend and I both agreed that Mallard is fine, but not great (echoing a couple other reviews). We're glad we tried it, but it's hard to say when we'd be back.

I stopped into Dauphine's while visiting Washington, D.C. for happy hour, and the experience was…read moreabsolutely exceptional. From the moment I sat down, the bartenders made me feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of. They took the time to walk me through cocktail recommendations, suggest food items, and even let me sample a couple of things to make sure I found something I would truly enjoy. That kind of thoughtful, personalized service is rare, and it made the entire experience feel less like just grabbing a drink and more like being hosted. The cocktails were fantastic, the food recommendations were spot on, but what really stood out was the hospitality. The team made me feel heard, valued, and comfortable -- especially as someone stopping in from out of town. I would highly, highly, highly recommend Dauphine's. Amazing atmosphere, incredible service, and the kind of staff that makes you want to come back. Can't wait to visit again the next time I'm in D.C.!

Service was very attentive. Freaking loved the jazz. Brunch - Creole inspired cuisine with amazing cocktails. Came for brunch, loved the raw oysters - so fresh and has three levels of salinity. Bread basket - delish, banana bread was the best I've ever had and I'm not a huge fan of banana bread. The other biscuits were nice, the pimento cheese scone was really good too. Chicken and waffles were delicious with a perfect mix of spicy, sweet, and savory. Very crunchy on the outside without compromising the moistness of the chicken. The pig ear salad was just okay.
