First time ordering here around April was great. I walked in, ordered a bunch of food for a party and everything was fine. Food was good and the price was decent. Order 10 combo sandwiches for a party and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Fast forward to October and ordered sandwiches for lunch with a few friends. Put in a phone order for 5 sandwiches and went there to pick it up 15 minutes later and as I was paying, the guy said there is an automatic mandatory 10% service fee for phone orders. I told him I didn't remember being charged a service fee the last time I walked in to order. He said the fee was only for phone orders which made absolutely no sense to me. If he would have told me over the phone that there was a fee for phone orders, I would have just driven 2 minutes there to place my order. The sandwiches are pretty decent for the price and I like to support local restaurants but the service fee for phone orders only left a poor taste in my mouth. read more

We are greeted. The hand-written menu is your standard Viet cuisine as my sister decides on Papaya Shrimp Salad and I choose a Vermicelli with BBQ Pork & Spring Rolls! I add Martinelli Apple Juice for my drink. Prices are cheaper than your typical Bay Area Vietnamese (non-Tenderloin), each about $11 + our drinks. Casual and modest indoor dining available, but note all dishes are still served as take-out. We sit at the window counter as it was a pleasant day to just wander. Our lunch brought to us quickly and plenty for the prices paid. Sister enjoyed her salad, mentioning how fresh it was. My Vermicelli combo was exactly what my body craved... tasty and light with no aftertaste (as sometimes you'll find in cheap spots). I was very pleased with my go-to choice! I noticed the Yelp ratings were discernibly higher here than other nearby spots, besides which Vietnamese fast food sounded pretty good to me. What was a nice surprise was how much better the food was than my expectations. We ordered the #1 combo bahn mi, the BBQ chicken over rice, and the BBQ pork over rice. Our family was in agreement that the BBQ pork was our favorite. Also, the table next to use has the mayo bread? That looked really good. Might try that next time. My wife is gluten sensitive, according to the staff the only questionable ingredient the they use to marinade the bbq pork is fish sauce since not all are gluten free. There was a bit of a language barrier when asking these questions, but we decided to take a chance and ended up fine. I'm still trying to decipher the name Kitten and Pinky, but I ain't complainin' one bit. Prior to this place, there was another Vietnamese joint named Bunny on this exact location. Then prior to Bunny, the place was called Vy's. The one thing they all had in common was they served the same menu. Now, I don't know if they are all affiliated with one another, but it's too much of a coincidence. Just a few blocks from Pacifica Pier is this tiny strip mall. It's a good place to grab a quick bite if you're on the go and it's very inexpensive. Most of the food items are priced from $7 to $9 and the drinks are $1.75 to $4. Definitely easy on the wallet and the portions are generous. The Banh Mi is better than Dinosaurs on the other side of the freeway, and they pack a lot of it on their baguette. Lots of fresh carrots, cucumber, cilantro and just the right amount of jalapeno peppers to give it just the right amount of kick. And if you like fresh, the Shrimp Papaya Salad will definitely provide that for you. Good amount of shrimp and the papaya is so refreshing that you won't feel guilty finishing this up. Unless you didn't leave enough for the Wifey, then it will get you in trouble. The pork and spring rolls vermicelli was nothing to rave about as I found the pork a tad salty, but mixed together with the sauce and vermicelli is pretty decent enough for my taste buds. But for $9, you're getting a lot of food that's under ten bucks....and you're getting a side of salad with it. Can't argue with that. Good bang for your buck. read more
