WOW! Best facial I've ever had. My complexion is now hydrated and glowy! My forehead looks so smooth and plump like I've had Botox. Kiva has a wonderful energy about her and I could feel she is very thoughtful in her approach to one's skin. I had the 'signature facial' which included a foot bath and massage, then a facial with what felt like hot stones at times, some extractions, lots of face and neck massaging, soothing gels- Ah! I seriously love this place! Just had a prenatal massage with Terrill and it was exactly what I needed. I did a 90 minute prenatal, added hot stones, and a 15 min warm oil scalp massage (highly recommend adding this!!). They provide pillows to help you lay comfortably on your side and are extremely mindful of your comfort level. The pressure of the massage was also great! It was enough pressure to help me relax and didn't feel like I was just being rubbed all over. I received a coupon for complimentary tea next door and that also was really good (white tea hibiscus with honey yum). This place has an amazing array of things to drink or eat! The hot bowls looked amazing, I can't wait to come back and try these. The selection of açaí bowls was definitely heavenly. I ordered the Powerhouse bowl which was so tasty. The ingredients of what was in it to the toppings could definitely be found at other juice bars. I know this could easily be my go-to when I come back. The other açaí bowls looked tastefully paired with certain combos - like the Spring Matcha with bananas, mangos, pineapple, matcha, spinach, and rose water! Audrey was very friendly and did a great job at focusing on the areas I requested. She did such a great job at relieving muscle tension while also providing a relaxing experience! I just had the most amazing facial this morning. Kiva sent me on a journey to another planet of relaxation. Like life-changing, mood altering bliss. Acai fans- do yourself a favor and get here asap. I was so so pleased with everything Kiva had to offer! The selection of acai bowls and smoothies is amaze, so many menu items that I need to try. I went with the Powerhouse Acai Bowl which was equally delicious and beautiful. The size was big and perfect, easily a full meal. Loved the acai to granola ratio. My wife and i had massages here. Mine was pretty okay- hers was mediocre at best. We both can report an excessive use of oil by both our massage "therapists". Way too much oil. Then, after so much oil (there was a slick by my massage table afterwards...) Kiva does not offer a shower or any even a towel. We had to continue the rest of our day looking like we had been dipped into a vat of crisco. Try DragonTree Spa instead. Excellent massage . Shower and towels (and nice products) offered post massage. No comparison in quality. Kiva was sort of okay at best. read more

I've been here seven times now, apparently, according to my Yelp check in activity. What keeps bringing me back? 1) One of the best massages I've ever had. No seriously. Two words: Hot stone. 2) My FAVORITE acai bowl in the NW. It's so delicious and very healthy portion size! 3) Awesome location in the NW (easy to hit on my way back from a long run in Forest Park!) What do I think could be improved? Honestly, not much, but if I'm being picky, I'd like the staff to be just a little friendlier. Sometimes it feels like I'm annoying them by placing an order. A smile would be cool! (Note, some of the staff are super friendly and awesome! There are just a few debby downers...maybe they just had bad days). The whole experience was fantastic! We had delicious power bowls next door in the cafe. It was my daughters first spa experience (she's 15) and they made her feel at ease. Kiva and Mary gave us our treatments....signature facials, massages, warm oil scalp massage and foot soaks. Kiva even walked my daughter over to the cafe for tea and a cookie while my treatment was finishing. I got a chai tea latte which was yummy. I used to drive by this lovely cafe every day on my way to work. And now I'm kicking myself for never stopping in until now. I'm new to the smoothie bowl scene, so I thought now's my chance to break into it. Boy, how did I ever go my entire life without KIVA's acai bowl? I tried the Powerhouse bowl, which had a wonderful mix of cold acai smoothie, housemade and perfectly crunchy granola, raw coconut and cacao, drizzled with peanut butter, and strawberries and bananas, oh my! Paired with a Marrakesh Express, and I was ready to take the day by the horns. The baristas were super sweet, the food and drink obviously delicious, and the whole place had such a relaxing vibe. I came for the Acai and left with soap. Really. I enjoy a hood Acai and after trying another spot, I stopped by to sample theirs. The portion was good and all the toppings were fresh. So far, this has been the best I've tasted in Portland. They have other things for sale but I bought I bar of soap which is very moisturizing and also smells great. We bought a Groupon for KIVA that included "snacks and tea" and a massage. When we got there, we approached the food counter and told them we had a Groupon. They did not receive us politely. They told us condescendingly that we were supposed to check in at the spa first. "We are in the same building but we do entirely separate things," one clerk told me. If that's true, I think they need to rebrand and not call themselves KIVA Tea Bar and Spa. When you hear KIVA Tea Bar and Spa, do you automatically assume they are obviously two separate businesses and should be treated as such? Me either. When they finally left the counters to fraternize with each other and figure it out, I received a coupon for food. Unfortunately, the coupon had so many qualifiers that it was hard to understand what we actually were allowed to get, even though we asked multiple times. It was only good for one row of cookies they offered. It would be very simple to say "this coupon is good for any cookies in row three and a cup of tea." An employee gave us an extra cookie to help compensate for all the mistakes the staff had made, and the rude manor in which we were received, but it didn't make me feel any better. As I sat down at a table, I knew that all other customers had witnessed the exchange. I was embarrassed and felt guilty, even though I hadn't done anything wrong. The massage and my masseuse, Drea, were great. However, I will not be returning. This is the worst customer service I have ever received and I do not feel comfortable spending my money here. read more

Came back here because of a previous experience that had made it my favorite açaí bowl place of any I've tried and was disappointed. Let me start off by saying the açaí bowls still are extremely delicious and the best I've had yet. HOWEVER, I came with some friends who also got açaí bowls and was agitated that their açaí bowls were twice as big as mine. Now my bowl still had a decent portion but it's disappointing to know you paid the same amount as your friends only to get half as much food - and I'm not exaggerating it really was half the size. I'd also been here before and it was twice the size (see my pictures attached to the review). I brought this up to the managers attention and she agreed it was quite a bit smaller but said the difference was purely due to the size of the banana and everything else was measured out, I just find this hard to believe (bananas don't range is size that much). She offered to make a new one, but I declined because I didn't want to waste a perfectly good, but small, açaí bowl. Here's what I think happened, a friend I ordered with got the same açaí bowl as me and I think they split it in half rather than making two separate ones, which would explain why it was half size. Now I don't know why they would do this and doubt they actually did this, but in the situation it was completely plausible since we both got half size açaí bowls compared to our friends and compared to the last time we were there. read more

I would recommend coming here in the morning for a refreshing drink that could also serve as a small breakfast if you are not trying go all out on a Portland brunch experience. This review is for the smoothies in the cafe. Paradise City is aptly named. It tasted like paradise! It's a nice green smoothie with spinach and mango and a bunch of other stuff that would have been great on it's own, but then they completely elevated it with rose water! The rose water just made it so special and perfect. It really made me happy to drink it. Then there's Masala Sunshine, which has turmeric in it. Turmeric is really good for you, so I ordered this one even though some things with turmeric can be bitter. This was absolutely delicious though. It had chai and almond butter and was really yummy and filling. I can't wait to go back, and hopefully it won't be long before I can have a spa treatment and review that too! read more

First off, cafe side is great! I can't get enough of their rose mango smoothie and have never been disappointed with any of their other menu items. Spa side: recently had a prenatal massage and it was heaven! I wish I could remember the name of the woman who massaged me because she was very skilled. I had a prenatal massage somewhere else and it was light and unsatisfying but here the masseuse listened to my requests and it was the right amount of pressure.
