I was absolutely blown away by this place! I was staying at the hotel next door and didn't feel like getting ripped off by Uber Eats, so I decided to venture over to the small plaza next to the hotel. There were several spots there, but this one immediately caught my attention. Small, tucked away, and with the words "Sushi" and "Ramen" on the sign. That was all I needed to see. I walked in, picked up the food I had already ordered, and headed back to the hotel. I was too tired to sit down and enjoy my meal there... maybe I should have. Maybe next time? The ambiance is great! The wall art was fantastic, and it felt like a small izakaya straight out of Japan. The place was full, which says a lot considering it's pretty far from the touristy parts of town. I had the Shoyu Ramen and it was fantastic...comforting, rich, and full of flavor. They better not change a thing about that bowl because it was perfect. I also tried the calamari legs appetizer. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, and the dipping sauce was amazing. Today was my first time going inside of this restaurant. I've ordered DoorDash before with them and enjoy the vegan Ramen. When I entered, I was greeted by the server. My order was ready ahead of time. I only got a little snack on this day. I decided to try out the crab Rangoon, and I'm glad that I did. It was fried perfectly, and had a good flavor. There were two very slim and small slices of the pork belly . The meat itself did not have a taste so I asked if char siu sauce on the side . For $15 i expected more meat. This place is located on more of an isolated section of causeway. I believe that the location makes the restaurant a little bit slower but don't be fooled! The food is fantastic! I feel like the sushi is a little bit more umami as well as the ramen. The ramen can be a little bit salty from time to time. The sushi is more flavorful than most that I've had. It makes the meal feel super fancy, almost like Taiwan. The ramen at Kiwami is the largest portion in Tampa Bay. I've had ramen from Fukuoka all the way to Hokkaido and this ramen is just as tasty. Wish there were more noodle options for how many broth options. But, what do I know. The rolls here are US style, portions are large, and cost is a few dollars lower than most sushi restaurants. We ordered: the gyoza, edamame, pork buns, and fried squid legs. Then we had the house (tonkatsu) ramen, the karaage bowl, and the chaysu bowl. Everything was very tasty. My son loved the gyoza and really enjoyed his first restaurant ramen experience. My husband and daughter found their rice bowls to be very American-diet friendly. Me and my husband used to come here all the time when we used to live in Gibsonton. We tried it again recently, and we were pleasantly surprised to still have the same quality. Their Ramen bowls are great, and are large portions. They have a lot of options to customize each bowl, making each one your own experience. The sushi is also very fresh. Depending on what direction you come from it is sometimes difficult to find, but it's in a strip plaza towards the end. Plenty of parking, but this is a busy hotspot so there is a lot of times a wait. read more

Came here a couple times before but i'll never come back and don't recommend. The food is mostly decent, but there's 1 specific roll I like here. I'm very disappointed in the service. It was my birthday and we called to check if they do anything and was told we get a free cheesecake. Could have picked any restaurant, but I chose Kiwami. Some of the food was ok, but even though we told our waitress about the birthday, and that she said she'll bring a cheesecake..she didn't bring it and brought us the bill instead. I wasn't going to say anything but my wife brought it up and the waitress said "it's happy hour so they won't do it". How that's relevant is beyond me. It shows they care more about money than the customer. I helped cleaned the table to make it easier for them and we payed over $116 for a few rolls, 1 ramen, 2 appetizer and extra side and still left at least 18% tip because that's what good people do. Normally I don't care about doing anything for my birthday or for others to do anything for me, but I didn't think they would be this selfish and stupid to lose customers who usually pay over $100 each time they come just so they can save a few dollars.. Today I ate with my daughter and friend and we ordered the vegetarian ramen, two of their house special ramens, edemame, gyoza, DJ Roll and Philadelphia roll. I want to say something positive first; our waitress Majika was so kind and patient. It was our first time eating there and she went over the menu, made recommendations and provided great service. Unfortunately, Majika's great service could not supplement the taste of the food and the owner/managers awful attitude. I will not act like a food critic, but ramen is one of our favorite dishes and this was by far the worst tasting ramen I have ever had. It was comparable to boiled pork water. The flavor did not go beyond that description. Because of this we all sent our ramen back and the manager said he would only refund one. We tried to have a conversation with Him about why he wouldn't be willing to refund the ramen, and he said because he felt we were trying to get over and it hurt his feelings that we sent it back when he feels he makes the best ramen in Tampa. This discussion went back and forth until he agreed to refund and asked us never to return. The problem isn't that he wouldn't refund the food items, it's that he assumed the worst because his feelings were hurt. We are customers and liking the food is the bare minimum requirement, but to come to our table with a terrible attitude because of a bruised ego was awful business practice and whether he banned us or not, we never planned on returning read more

Kiwami Ramen and Sushi offered up a tasty filling dinner in a quiet and relaxed setting. My brother and I were in the area and needed to have dinner. With no set place in mind and no specific craving, we contemplated our next move. We saw Kiwami and decided to try it out. From outside at night, it looked like it was really dark inside the restaurant. You could barely see people sitting inside. We walked in and it looked bright and normal. Super dark tints on the front windows and door. We were greeted promptly and brought to our small booth. Our server was around quick and got us drinks. We both went with a Sapporo. There is a good amount to choose from here. They have Ramen and rice bowls as well as more than 30 traditional sushi rolls and more than 20 Kiwami's specialty rolls. My brother and I both opted for sushi rolls. I ordered the Sumo roll and the Dynamite roll, both from their specialty section. My brother ordered the volcano roll and the Florida roll. Prices varied. The Florida roll was from the normal selection and was only $8. The specialty Dynamite roll was $14. It took about 10 minutes or more for the food to arrive. I appreciate the time and care it takes to make sushi and knew that was why there was a wait. The place wasn't too packed but there was people here. The entire time we waited, people kept coming in and picking up to-go orders. That was almost busier than the dining room. Our rolls came out and they looked great! Presentation was superb and the size was ample. They tasted fresh and each had their own flavor, spice and profile. Came back here for the first time in a long time tonight. The sushi is really good actually and the prices are more than fair at around $5/6 for classic rolls and $10-18 for specialty rolls. I enjoyed the eel avocado roll and the Florida Roll. The sashimi appetizer was delicious and so was the chicken karaage, not everyone can fry this dish just right. I ordered the Tan Tan Men ramen. It has a very deep flavor from the sesame paste. I don't think I've ever had sesame paste before. It's texture was like peanut butter. There was so much flavor and it definitely was different than what I have ever had. My hubby had the Kiwami Ramen which is quite popular. He enjoyed it. I also had the summer breathe roll which had no rice and had mango. It called my name. We enjoyed Kiwami and would definitely be back in a heartbeat when the ramen and sushi are calling our name. We started off with tako yaki. I'm a bit picky with tako yaki and I loved it here. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while being doughy/battery on the inside (not everyone likes it like this). it was a Friday date night for my wife and I and we wanted somplace new so we decided to try Kiwami . the staff was nice and the setting was very casual but not overly loud. For appetizers my wife ordered California rolls and I opted for the calamari legs. My wife reported that the rolls were full of mushy avocado instead of the firm fresh avocado she was used to in a California roll. As for the calamari legs, they were a little more tough than tender and there wasn't a lot for the price we paid. The chili sauce that came with the calamari legs was a nice complement but the dish was a little underwhelming. The entrees arrived and we hoped for a better experience and we didn't really get it. My wife ordered the Chicken Rice Bowl which looked vibrant a tasty in appearance. However, my wife stated that the dish lacked seasoning and was just "meh". I had the Triple Tail Roll with tuna and salmon. The roll was just ok , All of the elements were present but they just didn't marry well as far as taste. It is located at Causeway Blvd. it is easy to access from the I-75 exit SR 60 take Falkenburg South and right to Causeway and they are on the north side. The building is new and the so do all the interior is new too. The menu price is at medium range. We started Tako Yaki. It come with 5 pieces to share. Good coating and round as you seen in Japan street food. We also has six pieces of yellowtail scallions sushi. Good enough meat. The Chicken Karage is crispy. Good coating. May be a little salty may help. Our main course are the Kiwami Ramen - Tonkotsu Ramen. Good enough pieces of charshu. Very good porch egg with flavor. Their pork broth is at the light side. This is their style. I like the most is their Kiwami Torch. It is spicy king crab top with torch white tuna. Very flavorful. Food come out quick. Service is good. I give them an A for just open and paid attention to detail. It is about 4.5 stars restaurant. Since the quantity is is less for ramen and chicken Karage, it is 4 stars. read more

Very good ramen bowls, decent portions. The Kiwami Ramen and the Shoyo Chicken Ramen broth are both very good and we liked it better than the broth for the Curry Chicken Ramen. You get plenty of meat and you will get plenty of food with each ramen bowl. For appetizer: the pork steams buns are delicious. But I don't recommend the fried calamari legs, at least when we tried it, it had a too thick flour layer for my liking and the actual calamari meat part was pretty small. Been here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch, service is quick and friendly. Not too busy and no wait for a table both times.
