Updated review of our SECOND visit to the new Lexington location: We really enjoyed our first visit from a few years ago so we gave it a second try at their new Lexington location. It was such a big disappointment this time around. The table was wobbly. Food was saltier than I remember from our first visit. Portion was overall tiny! And we didn't enjoy the service this time around. The food tasted okay, but taking into consideration the price (we paid $77 plus tax each for the prix fixe menu), it was a huge disappointment, almost feels like a ripoff. We picked the prix fixe menu because at the time of reservation that was the only available option on resy (and they required full payment upfront with no refund). When we got to the restaurant, however, we realized the restaurant was not a prix fixe only location, and there weren't that many people. That aside, the menu was the main disappointment - for the price of $77, we each got a small gumbo (the size of a teacup), one piece of meatball and one piece of fried fish (both of which were quite small), a main course (which itself costs ~$30) and a small selection of desserts. The kitchen may be a ghost but the food here is the real deal. My second time here. Chef Jae is a really cool person with a great restaurant experience pedigree. She's dishing out fusion dishes of Korean and Cajun influences in the East Village. This time I picked up bibimbap, fried chicken, New Orleans style cornbread,grilled corn maque choux salad and Kslaw Soy Bourbon Glazed Steak Bibimbap Sliced Hanger steak seasoned with cajun spice and finished with soy bourbon glaze and soy marinated egg yolk over 8 grain rice, sauteed mushrooms, watercress, pickled celery tossed in soy mushroom vinaigrette. it was soo soo good! KJUN Fried Heirloom Chicken Pasture-raised and slow growth chicken breast, thigh and wings marinated in gochujang, cajun spice and double fried. Served with Go-Honey (Gochujang hot honey) and KSlaw This double fried chicken is so moist and one of the best in the City. Grilled Corn Maque Choux Salad Fresh grilled corn salad with jalapeno, radish, and ginger lime vinaigrette KSlaw Purple cabbage and Korean radish slaw tossed in chili lime ginger aioli. We drove an hour and a half to try this restaurant, and while the experience was okay, the food wasn't exactly what we're used to. We had the dinner for Two which included a snack, two entrees, and dessert. We ordered the Soy-Marinated Eggs & Cracklin' as our snack, Beaucoup Fried Chicken with collard greens and okra, and Galbi Brisket & Grits as our entrees. We also added an extra snack, Cornbread Hushpuppies, and had the pecan pie for dessert. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't necessarily to my taste. However, I did enjoy the hush puppies and pecan pie. One issue we had was with the chicken being undercooked. Our waitress mentioned that she wished we had spoken up so she could have fixed it, but when looked at the table next to us, their chicken seemed to be cooked similarly, so it might be the way they prepare it. As for the service, our waitress wasn't unfriendly, but her personality just didn't click with me. She wasn't rude or anything, but I couldn't quite connect with her. Given the experience, I'm not sure if I'll be back, but I do appreciate trying something new. read more

I recently visited KJUN and was excited to try their Korean Cajun fusion cuisine. The gochujang andouille sausage was a standout. The sausage had a spicy kick that was perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the gochujang sauce. A solid textural bite and snap of the sausage. Unfortunately, the kim chi jambalaya was a bit a letdown. The pork shoulder was dry and lacked flavor. It could have been any mystery meat filler. The rice was rather plain and flat. The kim chi, which was supposed to have been fermented for three months, was subpar to any reasonable store-bought kim chi from H-Mart. read more

It was busy when we walk in for dine in luckily we got a table which was at bar. We order food boudin ball , gumbo and ribs and grits with strawberries yummy. Food was amazing with cocktails. We finish the food in 30min everything came quick and we eat happily. Server said we are third person to finish everything in quick. If you ever end up in bar you will enjoy watching kitchen and people working there. We had best experience. Next we will visit again with reservations for sure read more

The Kimchi Jambalaya at KJUN was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and amazing flavors in every bite. The Goguma Pecan Pie was a tasty take on the usual pecan pie. The service was friendly and attentive, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. The gumbo was fine. Nothing to write home about. The broth was a bit watery, and the seasoning was off. It was edible but not memorable.
