My mom lives in this area and we've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to check out Knott's Coffee since its recent opening. Pictures made it look very warm and inviting and we are both great lovers of coffee. Today we had our first chance to visit. While I wanted so badly to love it and make it a regular stop, there were two drawbacks that caused me to drop two stars. We may return in the future to see if we were just there on an off day! First, the big positive- the ambiance in Knott's is lovely. Very warm, chic, and pretty. Lots of nice focal points and plenty of comfortable seating. They also have a large covered outdoor seating area that looked very comfy and inviting. The two drawbacks: First, the server taking our order was far from friendly. She looked like she would rather be anywhere else and waited impatiently while we took a minute to look over the menu which was new to us. Second, the coffee itself was not amazing. I ordered a small hot vanilla latte. I found it to have a bitter aftertaste, which usually indicates coffee beans that have been roasted for too long. My mom ordered a hot salted caramel latte and felt the same. Fortunately, they were not overly sweet and they were perfectly hot, which was a bonus! This is the very thing Northern Suffolk needed! Ample indoor space, heated outdoor seating and the atmosphere of the place is wonderful. The drinks are on the pricey side but comparable to other local shops. Inside they also have food options and feature art from local artists. Have been to Knotts Coffee several time and tried several drinks/menu selections. Their coffee and smoothies are definitely tasty and some of my favorites in the area. The empanadas are decent, however whenever I have ordered them it feels like they have sitting out for a while and Luke warm from the lamp. I would love to give them a try right as they are made (maybe they need a "fresh empanada" sign like they have at Krispy Kreme's! The venue also sells beer, wine, and cocktails and have various events throughout the year per their billeting board and website. I plan on coming back to give Knotts a try during the evening sometime soon! read more

I come here every opportunity i can get and every time it's an amazing experience . They are one of a kind and their Carmel macchiato is one of the best. The grilled cheese caprese and cinnamon rolls are to die for! I've never had a bad experience and I always feel so welcomed. My only complaint (well more of a request) would be to have a large option for their ice coffee/espresso drinks. But that's because the current size just isn't enough! It's that good! Great kilter place on the bottom level of an apartment complex. Stopped in for breakfast and was very pleased. My wife ordered a Gingerbread Latte with avocado toast to eat while I had a Hot Chocolate with a sausage egg and cheese empanada. Everything was delicious. Prices were good and the interior was great along with friendly service. My only wish is that my empanada tasted more fresh. It was very good but you could tell it had been sitting out for a while and had been reheated. It was still very tasty though. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

I was super excited to try Knotts Coffee, I've always driven by and have been intrigued. Three of us ordered coffees, I had an almond milk mocha, and the two other coffees were regular mochas. My drink was just okay, the espresso wasn't the best, but there was quite a bit of chocolate flavor. However, the other two mochas apparently had no chocolate flavor at all, literally tasting like a shot of espresso in steamed milk. The other two were very disappointed, and by proxy, I probably won't be returning. The price for the coffee was a little high for what we received. read more

I did an order online that gave me a time for pickup. I called when I arrived to get my order and they said the empanada i ordered would be a bit longer...After waiting almost 25 mins past that so about 40-45 mins after I placed my order, I had to leave so I went inside to just get the other part of my order and leave. I asked the girl at the counter if she could just cancel the empanada and she said no because it was in process. So I said fine and turned to leave. Then I guess the manager came out to square up on me to tell me it was made from scratch therefore I should wait 50 mins to an hour for it. My problem is not that it takes them 50-60 mins to make a single empanada. Its that they don't indicate such when you order. Its further that when I told them I couldn't wait that long they had a "sorry for you" aggressive attitude about it. And lastly when I looked at the bag after I left they had put a different muffin in the bag than what I ordered and added a note saying "out of what you want :)" - I was waiting and u knew I was waiting all that time and u couldn't ask me for a 2nd choice option? I'll never go back. The decor is cute but I can't see paying to get whatever you feel like giving me if/when you maybe feel like giving it to me. read more

Disgusting and overpriced. The area is gentrified and incredibly white. Literally, the sidewalks are white, the buildings are white. I bring this up for a reason. Hear me out. The baristas are OK, not nice but not mean either which is something that doesn't really bother me, they're just doing their job. Either way, I order a chai tea latte with almond milk and after tasting it, it was bland. I couldn't taste the vanilla, spices, or sugar. It tasted like water and not in a good way. I wish that it tasted as good as it smelled. Also, that disappointment came to 5 dollars. That is starbucks-level pricing with a bland taste. Go somewhere else, go to an area that's more "ethnic" and not some artisan-white bs coffee shop. You'll know if a place is good if the tea/coffee is 2-3 dollars for a small/medium or a 4 for a large. This place has a cute botanical vibe and is very conveniently located. They seem to also host periodic events, like yoga. They have rotating coffee specials and they have dairy-free milk options. I've had the lunch items there and they've been good. Service is always fine. The empanadas can be hit or Miss and sometimes are a little lukewarm or lack filling. When the empanadas are done right though they are well seasoned and come with a good dipping sauce. Most of the girls at the register seem clueless about how to work the machine with any kind of haste. We've had this experience with multiple workers so it's clearly a training issue. The loyalty program is totally ridiculous. You have to download an app and then scan a QR within a certain amount of time to get the points. It'd be so much easier to get a punch card. The coffee really is good quality. Yes, service needs some work but they're pleasant and the owners are super sweet. She'll get better with time, I have no doubt, but even in her youth she's a welcome addition to the neighborhood! read more

I visited this establishment for lunch during the week. The restaurant was not busy and I was the only one in line. I had a southwest chicken flatbread and it was super good! The serving size was large and the dipping sauce was great! I also had a pumpkin bread and it was so yummy. I love the atmosphere here! My complaint is with service and the competence for making drinks. The woman taking my order was very slow. I told her I wanted a sweet tea, flatbread, and held up the cake. She told me to slow down because I was ordering too quickly and she appeared flustered. I asked her if they served sweet tea and she said yes. She later asked me if I wanted it iced or hot, which I thought was strange since we're in the south! After ordering my iced sweetened tea, I look over at the counter and see two workers opening sugar packets and dumping them into an unsweetened iced tea. When my tea was delivered the sugar was sitting at the bottom... I could have done that myself. I would think a cafe would have the ability to whip up a quick simple syrup with the espresso steamer or at least put the sugar in the tea before the ice. Yesterday I was with my friend at the coffee shop and she ordered a drink and after receiving it she wasn't happy as it didn't taste as it normally had so she spoke to the barista and let her know that the drink really wasn't what she had ordered. The barista didn't agree with her and said she had made itas she ordered. She didn't remake the drink or even offer to fix it. We left with a very bad taste in our mouth. I had the pleasure of discovering this place today! What a neat place! The staff were wonderfully friendly , the place was spotless and it had a great vibe. That wasn't the best part . My peppermint latte, empanada and my coffee cake were amazing! The latte was perfect, the mint was nicely balanced and not overpowering . The coffee cake was moist with the perfect amount of crumb topping. But the egg white, feta and spinach empanada was to die for. As a former resident of Suffolk, I was pleased to see this and other new establishments in the area. I agree with other reviewers concerning the ambiance of the restaurant. Between the decor and the music, the atmosphere is contemporary, warm, and relaxing. I appreciate the thought that went into the design, including the walk up order window and an outside dog friendly seating area. The issue we had was with the food. We tried the beef empanada, the bacon/egg/cheese empanada, and the cinnamon roll. Everything we tried was dry. First experience here and I was impressed. The server was super nice, very friendly, and very helpful considering that I was sure what I wanted when I walked in.
