I wanted to amend my rating from 2 stars to 4 because of the way the business did some damage control. After my negative experience, I received a personal phone call from Chris, one of the owners, first apologizing. He wanted to ensure that I had a positive visit in the future, and that I was able to enjoy some of the treats that were not available to me on the day of my not-so-pleasant visit. He promptly sent me a hand written apology note and gift certificate with a box of special treats from Ko Bakery such as scones and cookies which I also shared with my family, staff and friends and all agreed it was some of the best tasting treats they have ever had. I shared with my family, friends and staff how the company owner called and apologized to me and we were all impressed how he handled the situation. My understanding is that the employee in question was also going to be trained so that other customers would not have the same, unfavorable experience as I did. Never once did Chris make me feel the customer was not #1 and it was clear he understood the value of a kamaaina, i.e., locals who are the backbone of their business and can be sources of repeat referrals. Morris is the easiest person to communicate and plan with - he was VERY responsive and never had to chase him (when planning a wedding you realise how important this it!). My cousin ordered my bday cakes here the day before pick up and I could here conversation with Morris. He was super helpful and patient esp since our cell signal was spotty. He answered all our questions on flavors, ingredients and what not. He could have told us to call back the next day since the store had just closed. What excellent customer service. That alone deserves 5. We got lilikoi pineapple and chocolate 6 in. round cakes. We didn't realize how tall the cakes were and we ended up with tons. The frostings are to die for. The bakery was also extremely kind in helping recommend popular flavors as well as flavors that might suit our tastes. All three cakes were delicious, but the cheesecake was hands down the best out. Our Wedding Cake Place! Choosing the flavor of the cake is going to be the hardest decision. We finally settled on the Lilikoi Dream; layers of butter cake with lilikoi (passion fruit) syrup and Lilikoi buttercream. This may sound like alot of passion fruit, but it was the perfect balance. We got a POG cake for our daughter's birthday. Normally, we would get a strawberry and cream type cake, but since we never had POG, so we decided to try it. It was not bad, not great, but not bad. We don't regret getting the POG cake because at least we tried it. My daughter likes it so that's important. If we go back to Lihue, we would try this bakery again, maybe try for other cakes. The only thing is that we stayed at a hotel about 2-3 miles away, and they said it would cost $50 for delivery (3rd party). It was cheaper for us to rent a car for the whole day than Uber. One of the best cakes I've had in a long time. I purchased the Neopolitan for my son's birthday recently and couple of days later, there is not one single crumb left. The cake looked beautiful as a whole and then you cut into it and you see the flawless, magazine-worthy, even layers. We went to Kapaa art walk immediately after landing in Kauai the weekend before just to be able to taste their cake and put faces to names. Ko Bakery made a wedding cake for my partner and me. Even though we were in CA, we'd tasted the cake at the KCC farmers market when we did a pre-wedding trip to Kauai. We opted for a 9-6" double tier cake in haupia lime with a lillikoi sidecar cake. Ordering was a breeze and we picked up at the farmers market the day of the wedding. Everything we've had here is superb. The coffee is truly the best I've ever tasted - beans hand-selected by the owners, then ground and brewed fresh.
