    Our pies and BYOB
    Alina N.

We came upon Koa Brewing via Yelp when looking for a local spot for some pizza. I didn't notice their operating hours and we showed up about 30 min before opening. The owners immediately invited us in and said they would get some pizza started for us. From that point I knew we were in good hands! While they got everything started they brought us complimentary focaccia since we had to wait - which I thought was generous since we were the ones to show up even before they opened. They also gave us samples of their delicious homemade root beer. We ordered one cheese pie and one all meat pie along with a kid small cheese. The crust was delicious and all the pies got a thumbs up from the entire family. They don't have their liquor license so they let you BYOB for now. They've only been open 5 months and unfortunately are located near the strip of the road that is closed in Kihei so may be overlooked by some - but you can still reach their parking lot (although small) or just park nearby and make the short walk. It's worth it! Shout out to Jocelyn who was a great hostess :)

Attentive service, delicious pizza, and beautiful sunset views. Kind of hard to find though needs more signage.

We met the owner and he was super cool. He has a real passion for his place. The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing!!! I highly recommend the garlic knots, pepperoni pizza, meatballs, and crumb cake. Everything was delicious. And what a view!

We made a special effort to visit Koa brewing because we had previously met their pastry chef Melissa the year prior, taking custom cupcakes to a dinner party. She & her husband JD had since opened their Koa Brewing company, and we visited to have dinner and enjoy an assortment of her baked goods. The pineapple upside down cake is to die for, her coffee cake was delicious and we devoured several chocolate chip cookies. YUM. Thank you so much for making our Maui trip even more enjoyable. We plan to see you each year we return. I included the entrance picture with the blue Scooby van as a landmark because the road had been damaged by the heavy rains in March, and there were road closed signs which can be confusing if you're not from the area. But I suggest you make the effort to visit and enjoy. The restaurant is clean and has a beautiful sunset view. Thank you.

The sponge cake is so light, and the cream fillings are just as light, paired with fresh fruit. Nothing about it weighs you down. The strawberry and cream is my favorite, with the matcha strawberry coming in at a close second. But honestly, my suggestion is to go with the sampler box and get a slice of everything: strawberry, ube, mango, banana, matcha, and cookies and cream. You won't regret it. Just make sure to go early, because they sell out fast. Aside from the roll cakes, they also have bentos, musubi, and sandwiches, so there's plenty to love here. Shikeda does beautiful Japanese-inspired bento and patisserie, and if you have a sweet tooth but want something on the lighter side, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

While it's a bit of a turn off for me when there are no prices displayed for any of the items, I'll still support you at least one time. There was the spam only musubi and one with egg which is what left with me. Initial visual is that it's juicy because of all the space and rolled in furukaki which are both things that I love! Nice hot when it left in my hand and out the door we went. The taste is good as the sauce wasn't too salty and the rice was just right; not to hard or soft. The rice was still able to hold together and the additional furukaki was generous. Nice shop to try! Street parking was easy for us this time

Near the airport and beach access, this is a tourist favorite, although a fair amount of locals have been spotted here. I judge a bakery cafe on their croissant. And Momona's is on point. Fluffy inside, crispy shell and buttery goodness. The second test is their espresso. They use a mass produced bean, but the taste was ok. Has room for improvement here, but I doubt they are marketing to coffee snobs given the volume of patrons getting sweets and lunch fare. My wife loves her sweet treats and this is on her must visit list whenever we visit Maui. Happy wife Happy life. Aloha

The space is beautifully decorated inside an old bank, complete with a vintage vault. Since we arrived late, pastry options were limited. The ham and cheese tart (flaky), brownie (dense/decadent), and coconut slice (chewy) were great. The coconut roll, however, lacked flavor (skip it). Croissant breakfast sandwich & mortadella sandwich were good. The main disappointment was the salmon toast. It looked beautiful and was a large portion, but the two extra poached eggs I ordered were completely hard-poached. When I brought this up, the woman behind the counter flippantly told me, "Yes, this is how we make them." Poached eggs should ALWAYS have a runny yolk & I didn't believe her answer for a second. Clearly they made a mistake they did not want to own up to. I was highly disappointed by her attitude, especially since I paid extra for the eggs.

I had the peach cobbler warmed up and a la mode, and it was delicious. Crumble toppings on pie are my absolute favorite, that buttery, crumbly goodness you wish would never end. Hubby had the key lime pie a la mode, and it was the perfect balance of creamy sweetness and tart, but not too tart. Both slices came with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is the only way to do it. The service was friendly, too. The indoor seating was full, so we sat outside, which turned out to be lovely for people watching and enjoying the fresh air. If you have a sweet tooth and appreciate a proper slice of pie, Maui Pie is worth the trip. Highly recommend, and I'll see you there for more peach cobbler!

ONE OF THE BEST PIES I'VE EVER HAD…read more ** But terrible customer service ** This place would easily be a 5 star if they had more polite people working there. My mom politely asked if they had any sugar-free pies available. The girl at the register stated " you need to ask for those a day in advance". So my mom asked if she could place an order now to pick up one tomorrow. The girl then looked up from the register with an annoyed look on her face and said, verbatim, " does it look like I'm the head baker? I only work the register. You need to leave the store and call us to order". We all looked at each other shocked. That was the most rude response I've heard in a while... like we are supposed to know who specifically ask to order a sugar free pie ... ... just a wild situation for such a fun place with great tasting pies. The good: - blackberry mango was probably my favorite pie - peach cobbler a close second place - loved the mountain berry as well The bad: - the girl working the register - you want a sugar free pie? Make sure to NEVER ask in person. You have to call in. - And they only offer whole pies and not slices for sugar free pies The verdict: - minus 2 stars for the rude girl who yelled at my mom - minus 1 star for only having whole pies and not slices for sugar free pies, even though they only have 3 flavors to choose from... Such a shame to have people like that working at a place that serves such a good product.
