We had an AMAZING omakase experience. We went with the sake pairing and that really elevated our meal. The seating capacity here is pretty small and we liked that the omakase experience was intimate. For our 7 PM reservation, there was another group of 2 right next to us doing the same experience in parallel with the same chef. Highly recommend coming on time to enjoy the experience with other parties! It was so great to chat with them and enjoy the experience as a group! The fish was beyond words. My favorites were the O toro, Three line, Sea urchin, and Sea bream. They were also able to swap out the wagyu due to my diet. While the omakase itself was fairly filling, we ended up re-ordering some omakase items a la carte because we enjoyed them so much. Also can't complain about the complimentary sake pours that kept coming ;) All in all we had such a good time we ended up staying like 2.5 hours chatting with the chef. Highly highly recommend for anyone looking for an amazing well rounded omakase experience.

OMG, sushi never tasted so good! Creative, attentive and friendly service with an experienced sushi chef. The ultimate experience for any occasion!

This might not be the most affordable omakase, but they use only premium sashimi with 95% flown in fresh from Toyosu Fish Market in Japan!! This was a 90-minute, 16-course omakase for $118. Instead of rushing through the courses, the pacing was tailored to our dining speed. And honestly, that's exactly how an omakase should be. I've tried omakase spots at different price points over the past two years, and Koete Omakase is the BEST so far thanks to its interactive dining experience. Chef Jason, who has over 30 years of omakase and tuna-cutting expertise, guided us through each course and explained the pairing concepts behind them. He's also very humorous, and we had a great time chatting with him. My favorites: - Akami Tuna with daikon and chive - Chutoro with black truffle - Otoro with caviar and 24K gold leaf - A5 Miyazaki Wagyu with torched leek and sea salt My jaw dropped when I heard how luxurious the caviar and gold leaf were. Definitely on another level compared to what I've had before. From what I learned, the King Salmon was the only fish not flown in from Japan. It was sourced from New Zealand, and it tasted incredibly sweet and fatty. We were also "challenged" with the Botan Ebi paired with pickled wasabi, which made our mouth numb for about two seconds, but it really elevated the freshness of the shrimp. At the end, Chef Jason kindly treated us to yuzu sake and yuzu cheesecake on the house. We were also told that lots of celebrities (football players, Broadway stars, movie actors) come in for his omakase!

Treated myself to a nice omakse dinner on my Christmas trip to NYC. Every single bite was delicious with some interesting combos of flavors. I expected to not like some because there are usually certain sushi I don't like but I loved every bite. I also like that you can order extra at the end so got a few extra pieces too. It was really fun watching the sushi chef create all the combos. The fish was all precut but it would have been nice to see some being cut. Made sense though with all the work into the presentation. Only complaint was some of the other guests there had so many special requests that it took away from the experience a little bit with so much extra they were needing.

This place is an awesome option if you're heading to a broadway show after or before! They do an 11 course Omakase for just $65. Each piece of nigiri (or hand roll) is expertly made and explained at the sushi bar. The space itself is intimate with bar-only seating and the sushi chef is super kind! I asked a couple of questions about the proper way to eat each dish and he was helpful, not snooty at all. They provide chopsticks in case you don't want to use your hands (the traditional way to eat nigiri, I learned!). Overall, a great experience for an awesome price! The threeline fish was the star! Highly recommend

Stopped by Koete for a work dinner and was absolutely blown away. This was my first omakase experience and I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant or chef! Each piece was super delicious and the highest quality sushi I've ever had. Every bite melted in your mouth and tasted super fresh. The chef was handing out the pieces one by one and walking us through the flavor profile and what each piece consisted of. One of our coworkers is pescatarian so they substituted his wagyu beef piece out and we're super accommodating. The restaurant is super clean and in an intimate space. I haven't been to Japan yet, but one of my coworkers said this is exactly what the restaurants in Japan were like and that this omakase was super authentic Japanese! Koete is 10/10 and I would highly recommend it for you next dinner/date night or corporate outing!

Just cannot say enough about this experience in every aspect!! Quality of fish: very high, fresh, garnish used to truly elevate, not mask lower grade sushi. Chef: friendly, engaging, communicative, accommodating, and even shared a round of sake with us! Wait staff: super attentive, friendly, made for a fun experience. We were asked throughout about our favorites, showing they clearly spend time getting feedback and refining their selection process. For being just 5 months old, Koete has crushed it and is already truly a gem and a top omakase experience of mine. Worth every penny!

I would give this dinner experience 10 stars if Yelp would let me. We chose the 15 course meal with appetizer for $138 each and $55 Sake flight sampler. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The restaurant is clean, quiet, and bar service. Jason was an amazing chef. Watching his expertise was really an experience.

I booked a lunch seating on a whim as this place is walking distance from my workplace and I needed a quick pick me up. The price is very affordable for the amount and quality of food you are given. The server and chef were nice, and my water glass was always full without me having to ask. The restaurant itself is small and intimate - perfect for a date or a solo relaxation meal. The whole experience took around 45 minutes. Nothing was new or blew my mind, but I have been to a lot of omakase experiences. I agree with a previous reviewer that this place is great for tourists or beginner sushi lovers, or even those looking for a quick bite that's slightly more upscale. Although this wouldn't be my first choice for omakase (I admit I am sadly a tiny bit snobbish now after having many omakase experiences), I definitely would come again during the work week because the price for quality is worth it.

I purchased Pulsd deal for $169. For a 17 courses which includes a special and a small sake. The sushi was very fresh, but smaller than usual, My favorite was a sweet shrimp and the fatty tuna. For special I order the roe and Uni don. Which you can see one of my photo. the don is a lot smaller than the picture they showed in the website presentation. Overall, I enjoyed it and the service was very nice. I do want to mention that on the plused deal , do mention Tips and tax is not included yet . They suggest tip base on the full price. when I got my bill, they automatically included tax and 20% tip based on the full price. If you don't read it carefully, you're end up double tipping.

We got a pulsd voucher for Koete. Didn't know what to expect. We came on a Friday at 5 pm. It was 4 of us. We noticed that the restaurant was easy to spot, not hidden like a lot of these omakase places. When we got in, there was one u shaped bar seating and we were seated right away with our reservation. That's when we were surprised by a familiar face. We recognized Jason who we had the pleasure of meeting at another omakase spot Tsumo who is now the co partner at Koete. He was very happy to see us and treated us like friends and royalty. We felt very welcome. We also met Tony who was our sushi chef and super friendly as well. Our pulsd voucher came with the standard omakase which had 15 course plus an appetizer, it also let us choose a special course at the end and also came with sake. Every piece was delicious and thoughtfully crafted with attention to detail. There was an emphasis on the toppings and each bite had great flavors that work well together. My favorite was the special at the end. I chose the Wagyu scallop truffle which was amazing. The uni, toro and Wagyu pieces also stood out. We also tried their yuzu cheesecake, matcha cheesecake and black sesame ice cream which were not included with our voucher. My favorite was the matcha cheesecake which had a strong matcha flavor and not too sweet but everything was very good. We left at around 6:30 and the place filled up. Overall, it was a great experience with a lively ambiance, welcoming staff and amazing food. I hope it does well and can't wait to see Jason and Tony again!

happened upon koete's nye menu on resy when searching for a place to eat to end the year (omakase might have to become my nye tradition) -- $218 for 18 courses after braving the closed off streets and police cordons that always happen on busy holidays. every party was seated one at a time along the counter, and the staff was sweet and friendly for the entire seating, as well as attentive towards your needs and your overall experience. the interior is both cozy and open at the same time, somewhat minimalistic while being warm and inviting. this may be one of the pricier omakase tastings i've footed, but i think the quality speaks for itself -- usually menus will have a weaker item, but every piece was delicious. this menu had a delightful mix of classic pieces (sake, otoro, hotate, etc) with more special and unique ones (mirugai, kamasu, kuromutsu, isaki, kegani), and was pretty good at alternating the more standard fish with the richer and fancier dishes. everything is fresh and seasoned to perfection with a great balance of different flavors and textures. every piece is made with care and love and it shines through. even classics i'm usually more on the fence about (looking at the unagi and the leaner / whiter fish) were prepared to be undeniably delicious (the mark of a decent vs a great omakase place). a couple hiccups in regards to almost forgetting my dessert until they checked the charges during payment and a confusing tipping system, but overall a good experience! would love to come back and try their lunch deal.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

We ordered the Berkshire Pork Loin Curry, with an extra cutlet each because we are big dawgs. Upon first bite, hope was restored. I could breath again. Beneath delicate crackles of the crisp golden shell, the pork was impossibly tender. The curry came in over the top with a gentle sweetness and depth to tie it all together.
