My friend and I made reservations ahead of time and upon arrival, were told that we were first in line to get patio seating by a male waiter. However, after about 10-15 minutes of waiting already (despite our reservations), we were informed by a female waiter that there was somehow a couple before us. When we politely informed her that we'd already confirmed our place in line, the waitress became sullen, accusatory, and very argumentative, basically throwing a school girl tantrum. She kept insisting that we were not first in line, even though we simply stated that it's fine if the couple goes ahead of us, but we WERE in fact informed we were going to be seated first. She even stared us down while she proceeded to seat the other couple ahead of us, with no apologies from either her or the first male waiter (the latter actually hilariously wouldn't make eye contact with us for the rest of the night). Anyway, to wrap it up, we ended up waiting about 30-40 minutes to be seated, HAVING MADE RESERVATIONS. And to add insult to injury, the food (pad gra prow and an appetizer) and drinks were very mediocre. The waitress didn't ask about spice levels so both our dishes seemed punitively spicy and some how bland at the same time. Such great service and such yummy food... we got the shrimp dumplings, khao soi, pad kee mao, pad thai and pad see ew! Had lunch here with coworkers. It was a group of 6 and made reservation ahead. Four ordered lunch special, one ordered shrimp dumplings, and I ordered beef curry with stinky bean. (Cannot recall what the name was on the menu.) The lunch specials were around $12 each and comes with spring rolls, soup and choice of pad thai, fried rice, small portion of green curry chicken, fried fish, etc. I find the food quality of items on the lunch special menu quite low. The soup was just like the generic chinese sweet and sour soup and same goes for the spring rolls. Pad thai was definitely not authentic, fried fish had too much batter. On the other hand, the beef curry with stinky bean was good. It was a little expensive ($19) for what it is, but I would rather spend more on this than eat a bad lunch special just to save some money. The curry sauce was spicy and had good flavour to it. It has very strong flavour so if you be a little cautious if you are not adventurous. Didn't get to try the dumplings but apparently they were ok according to the person that ordered it. Overall not sure if I would go out of my way to return to this place. Service was great by the way!!!!! read more

I had been seeing the mango sticky rice dessert from here on Instagram a lot, and decided to give it a try when my friend suggested it. We had the popiah, khao soi, and the mango sticky rice. The popiah was nothing special, but tasty nonetheless. Quite crispy and perfect size for sharing. The khao soi was good as well. The highlight really was the dessert. I'm not a huge fan of mango sticky rice, but this one really has a uniqueness to it. With the combination of having to crack open the mango shaped dessert, and the addition of little rice puffs, it was a great end to the meal. read more

Didn't even eat here, BUT let's talk service for a quick second. Arrived at 9:30PM with 2 other friends... the 3rd was running a little late. People still eating and drinking on the patio and a perfect 4 top, empty, just waiting for bums in seats. We check with the hostess who informs us that at this time they only offer dinner service inside... WTF!?! It's July and we walked to Baldwin after the AGO specifically searching for a patio. Favor ! Favor ! This newly opened establishment serves southern Thai dishes loaded with favor. The Pad Thai is really tasty, one of the best ! The beef curry is tender and not too spicy. Two words: Best reason to come to Canada. Okay. Maybe not the only reason or the best reason to drop in, but you get it. On our second or (third) day of our trip, we were recommended Koh Lipe on Yelp. My parents, grandmother and I were all starving and we wanted to eat somewhere close. And while it had few reviews, the pictures of the food looked stunning. We were in! (It's very close to the ROM, and it was just a quick drive.) Before we could even enter the doorway, we were greeted by the host (owner? Not sure.) and walked in with him. Quietly tucked away, you might not notice it at first glance.But inside is a colorful, bright spot that's great for families and groups and first dates. As you're walking in, you'll see that there's a colorful wall mural. Not only that, but a cart at the front for decoration. It's small, sure, but the atmosphere works. It doesn't feel quaint, nor cramped (unless you're in at rush hour, and I don't know what's that like) but instead inviting. As we sat down, water was brought to us fairly quickly, and then our order was taken at the same speed. We did have to wait a little while longer for the food to come out, but 1.) Being from the U.S, we're used to it And 2.) It. Was. Worth. It. The sweet and spicy pork soup was delicious (I don't want to mispronounce the names and I didn't take a picture of the menu. Sorry.) and we gobbled it up super fast. It was more of a mild spice; Not as if we were eating hot peppers, but eating a sort of spicy-herb-infused medley broth with pork and veggies. Out of all the meals, that had to be a fan favorite. We also ordered the seafood platter w/ lettuce wraps. My father loving seafood the way he does, that was all gone within 30 minutes. I recommend the Thai Ice Tea to drink. It tastes milky and is so good if you like to try different things. Not only were we impressed with the food and drinks, but the service was amazing as well. Our waitress was welcoming and so was the host. And something else to note?? As I'm writing this, the restaurant will have only been open for three weeks. For the food, service, decor, menu, etc to be so perfected and well-executed is a miracle for any new business. Heard about this new restaurant on Baldwin and had to check it out Great decor friendly staff and fantastic food!! Walking in there is a cute thai tricycle that we took pictures in. They also have an upstairs dining area with a very colourful Thai boat hanging from the ceiling Great effort given on creating a vacation spot on Baldwin The staff were attentive and prompt keeping our glasses filled and food arrived quickly and hot!! Food was top drawer!!! Having tasted quite a few pad Thai dishes (my control menu item) throughout the city this definitely ranks in the top 5. The worst service experienced in Toronto. When we arrived at the store, there was no one at the door. When we went inside, there two waiters at the cash register. One waiter called another waitress to follow us. The waitress asked if we had a reservation, and when we said no (but only three or four table were seated, outside was completely empty), she said go outside. After taking us to the location, she lowered her head and played with her phone the whole time without asking us whether we wanted water. We scanned the menu by ourselves. A few minutes later two more guests arrived and the waiter came out and asked if they had a reservation. They said no. Then the waiter asks them if they want to sit inside or outside (the waitress didn't ask us at first). They sat down and there was water immediately, and my boyfriend and I sat down for a few minutes without water and didn't ask if we wanted it. Aweful experience! Quite disappointed Is what I have to say. I have to admit, the food was good but when it come to the service it's a bit lacking. I came here specifically to eat the mango sticky rice, and asked in the very beginning of me sitting if it would be sold out. The lady told me not to worry and I could definitely get it, which is why I didn't place my order to begin with. After I finish the dinner I asked for an order, and she tells me it's sold out. Not only did she not apologize for telling me it would not be sold out, they made NO compensation on giving me false information. Tasty food, amazing cocktails. However, there was something that really disappointed today. We had 2 people came in at 9p.m, the store hours is closing 10p.m and by the time we came, there were a couple just came 2 minutes before us as well, and they easily got the seat. When we was waiting, an employee came to us and said they close the kitchen at 9p.m and the restaurant close at 9:30 while on the website it said 10p.m. While i tried to ask her, and said if they close early they should change the opening hours on the website because we don't mind but please follow what you guys put on the website, she even interrupted me while I was talking. I was quite upset, so i came to asked others employee, they said kitchen close at 9:30, and the restaurant close at 10 so we ended up get our table. After that, the employee came to take my order, and she was very pushy to me, keep remind me kitchen close at 9:30 so i better eat and pick the food quick. I even told her i need a few minutes to pick the cocktail (while I already finished ordering foods), right away she told me i have to be quick because the kitchen close at 9:30 ( I ordered food around 9:05pm). After i was very upset and almost ready to get into an agurment with her but I ended up not. We really understand you guys felt tired after a long day working, so we ate really quick and left, but the way she did today was 100% unprofessional. I am just shocked at this restaurant - value wise I would NOT order from here! They charged 11$ (plus taxes and a 5$ delivery fee) for 'fried chicken'. What arrived was a single piece of roasted chicken (not even a breast) - just a single leg of roasted chicken! A pleasant surprise. I don't usually write reviews, but this place deserves a thumbs up. We were there Sept 18, 2019. Had the lemongrass salad with shrimp, and a fried chicken appetizer. Both excellent. It was mid-afternoon so we had no problem with waiting for the food. Tasty and a little different. I haven't had a lot of Thai food, but this was the first time it was really good. My friend saw a post on BlogTO so we wanted to see what the hype is all about. The decorations were vibrant and Instagram worthy as expected. The place gets busy so make reservations if you plan to go. We got seated fast and there are a perfect amount of food and drink options. We went for the classic options and followed some online recommendations: Gai Gor Lae (skip)- These Chicken skewers were on the drier side and the although the sauce was sweet and flavourful, it didn't save the dish. Khao Soi (skip)- This was plated decently and I think this was the best savory food that we got. However, the braised beef was over-cooked and dry and at the end I bit into a full star anise. That basically ruined the dish for me as that was not a pleasant taste to overwhelm my mouth. They should use a filtering bag so that people don't bite into whole spices. Chicken Pad Thai- My friends enjoyed this dish out of the 3 but its basically compatible to the pad thai at Thai express. They also put zero effort into the presentation of this dish. Mango sticky rice dessert (Recommend)- This was my first time trying this dessert and it was great. Everything about it was great about this dish. You have to crush the chocolate mold filled with mango chunks and sauce to expose the inside. The sesame seeds, rice crisps, and chocolate were unconventional additions to this common dish that made really complimented it. Overall, the food presentation and food flavour was reallydisappointing. The only thing I would recommend is to stop by for a little dessert and drinks. Payment at the end of the night was delayed but at least it was really a really cheap meal. read more
