    Pork Belly + Combination Soondubu
    Alisa B.

Overall, it was just okay! The service here was great, and there's a lot of seating inside. We got a couple items to share between the two of us. The Pork Belly was probably the best thing here! Very tender, but the seasoning is quite sweet. I did enjoy it over rice. The side dishes were really plentiful and fresh! Definitely a highlight too. The Soondubu Jjigae was just okay in terms of flavor. A little bland, but the content was generous! The Seafood Pancake was pretty big, and worth the price! I loved how much seafood it had, but it could have been a little crispier in my opinion.

Came here on a Sunday for dinner with the family. Not busy at all. Plenty of seats available. Service was great. Food was good. We ordered 2 Combos. The first one was a Spicy pork with Ramen tofu soup combo. The second one was a Bulgogi beef with beef tofu soup combo. We also order a bulgogi beef Korean pancake. Food came out pretty fast. Sizzling hot . Was a bit frustrated with the portion of the meat! For $30+ you would think it would be more. The Korean Pancake on the other hand was great. Big portion and was amazing! This place is located at a shopping center next to Lions supermarket and other little store. With lots of eating spots and boba drinks.

Ordered takeout hoping for a healthy and lighter meal -- but this was extremely disappointing. The soup was filled with black burnt bits that clearly came off the chicken. The chicken itself was overcooked, charred, and tasted bitter. The broth was smoky, overly salty, and unpleasant -- definitely not in a good way. I used to come here for dine-in and always had good food and service, so I'm not sure why the takeout was like this. I was genuinely concerned about whether it was even safe to eat, especially since I have food sensitivities. I ended up throwing most of it away. Absolutely unacceptable for a tofu soup. Would not recommend.

As a Korean, giving this a solid 4. Went at 8:30 and we were the only patrons, thought that was a bad sign, but our food was delicious. I ordered dolsot bibimbap and combo seafood soonduboo and both were great. My 7 year old ordered fried rice with beef as he can't handle spicy (embarrassingly) but it was so good, Korean style- simple, sesame oil based, but so good. The dolsot bibimbap portion and presentation was the biggest ive seen! Lots of legit banchan too. Very nice couple/owners and prompt service.

Late post: came here for a quick dinner before heading home from the hospital. We didn't have to wait for a table, tons of table. Place is clean. We ordered beef pancake which was delicious. Had a little but left over and it was still delicious the following day. We had soy marinated sirloin with beef tofu soup. Loved it!! Then, had spicy pork with ramen tofu soup. My husband and son ate the spicy pork. My daughter and I had the marinated sirloin. The kids loved the ramen soup. While the we adult enjoyed our beef tofu soup. The prices is not bad either. My only complain is that the meat portion is smaller than I expected. Otherwise, everything else is great.

Staff here is so nice. All of the appetizers were yummy, as well as the entree. This place has been in Newark for a very long time.

I came here with 2 friends on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. Service was pretty slow considering there weren't many tables but they did check in with us and offered us extra banchan. I wasn't too impressed with their dishes, although they weren't bad. They gave us a wide selection of banchan. The beef tofu soup was ok - kind of bland. The stir fried calamari was definitely the star. I'm not sure if I'd be back but it's a solid place for Korean food!

Solid, no-frills Korean restaurant with friendly service, and great food + portions at a fair price. Stopped by here for dinner before a movie last night with my girlfriend. The restaurant itself is quaint, with plenty of tables. When we arrived (around 7 PM on a Wednesday) there were a few other groups there but the restaurant still had plenty of room. We were promptly seated and asked for our order. My girlfriend and I shared the Tofu Soup with Vegetables, the Stir Fried Rice Cakes and Ramen, and a Veggie and Scallion pancake. Our BanChan and main dishes came out very quickly and everything was extra fresh and tasted delicious. The pancake was my favorite dish of the night (I'm a sucker for Pajeon normally). The ramen and rice cakes were texturally perfect - the ramen was cooked so the noodles had a slight bite still and the rice cakes were QQ. The sauce that they were stir-fried in was perfect as well. And last but certainly not least was the tofu stew. We had asked to get the dish extra spicy - though it did have a kick it didn't knock our socks off. With that said, it was very delicious and perfect for the night as it started to get colder. All in all, I was very thoroughly satisfied with my meal at Seoul Tofu House. The friendly service and solid food are more than enough for me to recommend this place to anyone. The K Drama playing in the background was also an entertaining touch :) 5/5

Been coming here for a few years now - the food is always consistent and the staff is very nice! Their banchan selection is pretty decent. I especially like the gochujang braised potatoes which I don't see that often. Main dish wise they have a pretty standard selection of stews, barbecue, and Ramyun. While there's nothing standout the food is always consistently good in a pretty homely ambiance and I find that to be the charm! The complex also has a couple good boba & dessert options nearby and is open pretty late.

It always happens! Every time I stream Korean show on TV and the show the characters eating Korean food, I get the sudden craving for Korean food. This spot always hits that craving! This is actually our second time here. The first time was during the pandemic 2020, so it was all for pick up and to go food. At that time I did not Yelp it cause we ate before I could record our order. 2023 and here we are sitting in the dining area! This place did not disappoint me. The food was delicious and as for me, a non Korean, it was authentic! We had the Deep Fried Dumplings, the Seafood Pancake, SamGyeTang, Marinated Beef Short Rib, and of course the sides. Everything was fresh and sizzling and even boiling when our order arrived. Consuming the food on the spot made it taste even better. The staff and the ambiance of the place is decent. Everyone is attentive, kind and most of all friendly.

    Bulgolgi
    Vicky Y.

Came on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant wasn't very packed at all. It's quite quiet in here aside from the kdrama playing in the background. We ordered the bulgolgi & pork bibimbap (but i think they may have given up bulgolgi for the meat?) The food is just okay, the beef was a little dry. The price is rather hefty for what you get. The banchan was just ok too! They do come around and ask if you want refills though. Overall this place is average, nothing to write home about! I've had it a couple times now but it's never super wowed me. Maybe I'll come back and order something else in the future.

Looking for a comfortable, no frills, homey, Korean dine-in experience? Look no further than Seoul Tofu House! Staff here are very friendly and accommodating. Food selection and quality are great. Location is decent as it's right across the mall and school nearby. And it's close to a lot of decent snack and dessert places if you're having a day or night out. Plenty of parking here so come any time of the day. We have been here countless times and usually order the combination plates which come with your choice of an entree and a tofu pot. The tofu pots are personal size so it's not really shareable but between two people, it is enough food. The bbq ribs (galbi) are the go to for meat options but you can't really go wrong. Bulgogi is good too. The Korean friend chicken is fried well and quite meaty. The spicy sauce isn't too spicy so even mild adventurers can have a try. One time, as someone in our party could not take spicy, we asked for one of the drumsticks to not be sauced and they were so nice and set it on a separate small dish for us. The rice bowls (bibimbap) are good options to share. Crispy rice at the bottom with vegetables abundantly mixed in with sauce makes for a hearty meal. The seafood pancake is a must order each time. They do a really good job with the crispy ends and it comes out hot! The side dishes are aplenty and they'll open your stomach as you enjoy your meal. Overall, Seoul Tofu House is a place you could go to on any given day and get a delicious meal, have a conversation with the employees and locals, and not break the bank.

Happy New Year! My first review of 2024. I love me some Korean food, but it seems like we always get the standard Beef Bulgogi, Beef with Green Onion Pancake, and Kalbi. What can I say? I'm basic. That being said, the basics at Seoul Tofu House are amazing. The portions and price are reasonable. The Koreans mamas that work here are so nice and they hustle! I love the banchan they give you, and you should never be shy to ask for more! I especially love the Japchae and seaweed salad, which are my favorites.

The restaurant is casual but busy during peak times, and the ban chan before the meal is a lovely and diverse selection of delicious Korea appetizers. I'd recommend coming with a big group so you're able to try a lot of things! Corn cheese (5/5) - one of the best corn cheeses I've ever had - idk what they put in it but it's crack.  Ttetobokki (3/5) - wasn't too big of a fan of this one, a lot of fish cakes and the sauce was more like a soup Seafood pancake (5/5) - this one is a must try for me and a non-negotiable whenever I come. There is a LOT of seafood in this pancake and it's delicious with the sauce. Galbi (5/5) - pricey, but the dinner portion is a good size and sharable for 2. The meat is tender and tasty and cooked with the perfect char.  Bibimbap (4/5) - I do like this one, it comes with a lot of beef and veggies. I like getting mine with a side of seasame oil to enhance the flavors. It stays hot for awhile tho lol Dumpling tofu soup (4/5) - also one of my go-to orders. I get it mild, and always eat it at the end of my meal because it stays hotttt. But it's delicious and the dinner portion is sharable with lots of tofu.  Friends of mine have ordered the galbi-tang and the bulgogi and liked it as well.

Kong Sarang did an excellent job handling my large takeout order…read more Not only was the entire order completed within 10 minutes, but everything was packaged carefully and securely, including the banchan, sauces, and utensils. *Banchan: generously included two full containers containing seven different side dishes. My order came with bean sprouts, broccoli, fish cakes, potatoes, kimchi, eggplant, and tofu. My favorites were the stir fried fish cakes and the lightly sweetened potatoes. *Kimchi Jjigae: the broth carried a pleasantly fermented kimchi flavor. There was also a generous amount of soft tofu incorporated throughout the stew. This leaned more heavily into deeper, aged kimchi notes. *Mul Naengmyun: the chilled broth had a naturally tangy and slightly sweet profile, so the side of mustard felt necessary to sharpen the flavors further. The buckwheat noodles were pleasantly bouncy, though they had clumped together a bit at the bottom. Unfortunately, the toppings were the weakest part, as both the meat and egg were noticeably overcooked. *Corn Cheese: surprisingly mozzarella forward. The cheese was melted well and paired nicely with the bursts of sweetness from the corn. This complemented the hotter savory dishes especially well. Overall, this is a solid takeout option with efficient service and dependable packaging. I would still like to see more depth and refinement in some of the broths, but the foundation is definitely there.

While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef.
