We ordered 2 chicken Ramen and veggie gyoza to be delivered. The Ramen soups arrived cold. The broths were completely cold and the bowls of noodles, bean sprouts etc were cold as if they had just been taken out of the fridge. After being warmed up, we found that the broth was so freaking salty it was completely inedible. The gyoza - there were 5 tiny gyoza for $10 - looked like the kind you buy at trader Joe's and did not appear to be made at the restaurant. Everything was very overpriced, for a meal we could not even eat. I would give zero stars if i could. Went here on a Friday night and was super confused bc the original Koko ramen spot was closed, but it apparently merged with another restaurant at the corner. I was excited to find out that we can now order japanese food and tapas style food! We settled on the pulpo (octopus), the Sapporo Spicy Miso Ramen, and the Koko Tonkotsu Ramen. The octopus came out quickly, but it was horrible. It was bitter, mushy, and burnt? I loveee octopus and sometimes would get the packet ones from Costco and those are SO much better than this one. My date and I just left the rest on the table for it to be taken away and omgggg it stank! Really wanted that octopus out of here. But the wait staff seemed to be bombarded or something bc no one really came to check on us for a long time. We waited maybe 15-20 minutes for our ramen to come out. When it finally came, we were disappointed. My spicy ramen was really sub par. Noodles were dead! I was looking for bouncy noodles but these were just not it! And the broth and "spice" had no depth. It felt like i made my own dashi and mixed it in with chicken soup and just dumped a bit of cayenne pepper in the broth. Not impressed. But the pork was decent. The only decent thing about the ramen. It was $17-$18 for the ramen - it was small and not good. Not worth. My date's tonkatsu ramen was also not great. I tried one sip of the broth and it was sigh, not good. I don't enjoy bamboo shoots and it reeked of it. So happy I didn't get this. Okay, so far disappointing octopus and ramen. I highly recommend Koko Ramen. I 100% of the time would not go to a ramen spot but, since my boyfriend wanted ramen, I suggest this spot. Koko Ramen is the ONLY ramen spot I like. I ordered the Takoyaki Balls, Koko Tonkotsu Ramen, and Sapporo Spicy Miso Ramen. I loved the takoyaki balls. It tasted salty but yet chewy because of the octopus. The Koko Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious. The portion of the ramen is large so, it was very filling. Sapporo Spicy Miso Ramen was my favorite thing on the menu. It was very flavorsome. The seaweed salad was fresh with sweet sauce a great combination together. Koko Ramen is a cute, intimate spot on Cortelyou that serves ramen, Japanese snacks, sake, beer, and more. I don't eat ramen too often and am not the best judge of it, but my boyfriend said the Koko tonkotsu ramen was just okay. I did have some of the ramen myself and wasn't too impressed. I found it to be on the saltier side. However, I absolutely loved the crispy shrimp bun with tartar sauce and the chicken wings. The buns weren't large and the crispy shrimp bun was $6, which some might consider pricey given the size, but the few bites it took me to finish it were crunchy and so, so tasty. I wouldn't take out a single ingredient from it. The chicken wings were tender and juicy and had an excellent crisp. We couldn't get enough! We shared a melon soda, which was refreshing and delicious on its own and paired really well with everything we ordered. Yummmmm. Absolutely loved the ramen we had here!! It's a tiny little adorable place. My girlfriend and I came here for dinner on Tuesday around 7:30 and it was full, we waited 10 min or so for a table. We ended up ordering takoyaki to start, beef ramen, and roast duck ramen. Everything was absolutely delicious. The takoyaki was just the right texture. Lots of places I've tried, it's really mushy and the outside is soft. The takoyaki here was crispy on the outside and not mushy at all. My beef ramen was awesome. Beef was a bit dry but the noodles were cooked just right, broth wasn't too salty (I normally don't finish my broth because it's always too salty for me but totally finished this one), and the ingredients all went so well together. I loved the pickled cucumbers to balance out the saltier side of the soup. My girlfriend's duck ramen was great too. The duck skin was very crispy even in the broth. Service was excellent too and food came out really quickly. Will be coming back here regularly since winter is coming and I'll need my regular dose of hot noodle soup. read more

Found this place when walking around the area looking to grab a bite for lunch on Sunday. For starters, the atmosphere is really great here. Soft background music, bowls on the walls, cool lamps, and great natural light pours through the front windows. The food was also amazing - they have a variety of ramen and some great apps! We had the takoyaki and it did not disappoint. My friend and I had ramen and it was super fresh and filling. This is also a small detail but is very appreciated - they have hooks to hang your coats, so you can get comfortable at your table without worrying about all your winter clothes in the way. There was spinach which wasn't listed as an ingredient in the bowl, and they only gave of 1 boiled egg. The textures were very unpleasant; very squishy and bumpy, but not crispy or flavorful (this goes both for the tofu and the chicken). The broth was okay, nothing special. Salmon poke- it was their special. Seasoned perfectly. Fresh marinated salmon and love the pineapple combination. Rice was different. Hard grainy in texture. Matter of preference. My 8 year old and I liked it. Not so much with my husband. Duck ramen- very flavorful Peking duck broth. Generous pieces of duck. Complex and more on the salty side. It was a special menu. Big enough portion and just enough additions in the bowl. $15. Koko ramen- their classic Tonkaksu pork broth was very good and tasty. Not too creamy with a touch of sweetness from the actual pieces of cha siew. Their cha siew is especially flavorful and well seared. One of the best pork belly pieces I have had besides for Bassnova Ramen. Overall we love their ramen and its rich broths. There's many other choices of broths on the menu and will go back to try. But not so happy with their appetizers as they are very simple and small in portion for their cost. Service was acceptable as they are very attentive to you. I've read through the bad reviews, but based on my experience tonight, Koko Ramen is a solid spot. The ramen broth is very tasty, in particular the KoKo tonkatsu (broth is a bit more heavy/dense compared to the others). The spicy miso is also flavorful and has a kick, but not too spicy. The pork belly provided in both of the above is very tasty. Note: The tonkatsu noodles are skinner and straight, different from traditional, thicker, wavy noodles. They taste the same but have a different texture (see photo). The ramen bowls are $14 (could be a few bucks cheaper). The food is delicious, the decor is lovely and the staff are very attentive/kind -- so I'm happy to pay for the great food and overall experience. Definitely worth a stop in, especially on a cold night! read more

First time having Ramen and I'm in love..... my cousin took me here for Christmas and it was one of my favorite gifts. The Ramen was delicious and the restaurant was super cute.... I didn't want the boiled egg and I was able to substitute for sweet potatoes. I also tried the Japanese soda and it was delicious, but nothing beats that pork fat in the ramen. This is a cozy Japanese Ramen noodle shop in our nice neighborhood of Cortelyou. They only take cash so be prepared. The money you spent here is pretty much worth the food, drinks and service that they provide. The waitress was very nice and knows what she's doing. The food was delicious!! I specifically said "less salty broth" coz I know ramen noodle soup tend to be very salty. So it would appear that this place is now join together with manchego the bar. I learned this when we decided to come by here with my mom for Valentine's Day. we pulled up and my wife walked into the manchego entrance instead of the entrance that I was pretty sure it was Koko which is next door. And when we got inside I was telling my wife that we entered the wrong place, but one of the wait staff came over and said "no this is Koko as well. we've joined together." it wasn't until a couple weeks later then I was watching the news and I learned that this was a bit of a survival tactic being utilized by restaurants in the city to try and stay afloat. Honestly it makes sense to me. It's been quite some time since I've gotten to go out in the city. Honestly it's been quite some time since I've been in the city at all, so it was nice to go somewhere even under the circumstances. Coincidentally when my wife and I lived in ditmas Park we always wanted to go to this ramen place but we never got around to it. Funny how it works out that 2 years after you move to Spain you end up going to the places that you never got to go to in New York. Because it was a bit of a special occasion we decided to get a bottle of wine. Red of course. I can't remember which wine we picked because my mom was the one who selected it, but it was excellent. We started with a couple of appetizers: gyozas and okonomiyaki, which is a Japanese pancake. The gyozas were fine, pork dumplings with soy sauce to dip. The Japanese pancake was great. My mom isn't the biggest "foodie" but she really enjoyed it. For the main course me and my wife went with the tonkotsu ramen (obviously) and my mom got the Tori Shio (chicken broth) ramen. She doesn't do pork. The bowls are a good size and like most ramen places, they do the trick to fill you up. The tonkotsu was very solid. It's been quite some time since I've had some real ramen: it's a bit hard to find in the part of Spain that we live. My mom really liked hers as well but apparently filled up on japanese pancake do had to take the rest of it home. No biggie. They boxed it up with no problem. Now that places are going to open to 50% maybe there will be more chances to go out and try to enjoy things again. I'm glad I finally got to try this place out. Better later then never! read more

We entered at 5 PM and were promptly seated for happy hour which has the option of a Japanese beer or hot sake for $5 plus an order of ramen gets a small side of either edamame, chicken wings, or gyoza. I ordered the koko tonkotsu ramen with a side of gyoza and a hot sake. The broth was creamy and had a flavor very close to gravy. If you added some flour to the broth, then you'd have perfect turkey gravy. The dish had half a boiled egg, some mushrooms, and pork belly. It was a very savory dish. The sides were very good too. My girlfriend and I were so happy to have stumbled on a great ramen spot. Not only is the food delicious, it's also a really cute restaurant perfect for dates. We can't wait to be back to try their other types of ramen and appetizers! I had the duck ramen which seemed to me like a Chinese / Japanese fusion dish and it was delicious. If you like fatty Chinese roasted duck, you would love this ramen. The skin of the duck somehow remained crispy even though it was in soup. The soup was rich and a little sweet which complimented the duck. The texture of the noodles were my favorite kind: wavy, just slightly chewy, and not over cooked. Finally, even the Bok Choy (Chinese vegetable) was very crisp and fresh. I'm not usually a fan of Bok Choy because it can be hard to chew, but this place clearly knows how to get fresh ingredients and cook it well. We also had the takoyaki as a quick appetizer which were delicious as well. The outside was slightly crispier than normal which I liked. Koko Ramen is the newest ramen kid on the Brooklyn block. It's a relatively small space, but they have a sizable ramen selection. I went with the Koko Tonkotsu Ramen (creamy pork bone broth with pork belly kakuni, spinach, menma, and ajitama egg). It wasn't the best ramen around, but it was serviceable. The broth was a little thin, and most of the flavor was from saltiness. Noodles were a bit clumpy. But it came with all the extras, like menma and egg. Never had ramen with spinach before, so that was new. The pork belly was two huge fatty chunks. So good. The place shares a bathroom (and possibly a kitchen) with Manchego next door. Koko is good. The portions are generous, so come famished. When I eat ramen, the most important component is the broth. Luckily, the broth here is thick, salty, and packed with flavor. If you're more of a noodle person, you might be a little disappointed. The ramen here is packed with noodles, but they're instant ramen quality. Not bad, but don't expect anything fancy. I also think I'd be happier with more fixings in my ramen. These are available as add-ons for an extra charge, but Misoya ramen in the East Village packs theirs in at a flat rate. Nevertheless, the best bang and perhaps the tastiest option is the Sapporo Spicy Miso Ramen. If you're like me and are blessed with GERD, you'll be able to eat this and not reach for Tums after. If you're someone who prefers food on the upper side of the Scoville Scale, ask for extra hot sauce. All I ask is that you wash it all down with cold peach sake :) read more

Waiter service was amazing as our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. My go-to ramen dish is the Tonkatsu Ramen and that is what I always order when I come here. Not only the ramen noodles, pork belly, bamboo shoots, and egg were delicious, the broth was also delicious. It was so delicious that I finished all of the broth. Ramen here is priced pretty fairly (a bowl of ramen here will run you around $14). I would not suggest dining here with a big group as there is very limited seating in the restaurant (3-4 tables).
