Wow! I'm impressed. It was a restaurant filled with hungry people. There was one staff member, Maria, and she was working hard! In comes a Door Dash employee who is frustrated about the delay on his order. Maria apologized, and let him know she was the only person working today and would get to the order as soon as possible. She explained that it had been busy all morning, and she had gotten behind. She was calm, kind, and professional but conveyed sincerity about getting the order finished and to the driver. The Door Dash driver continued to complain and be rude and mean to her. As the crowd in the lobby became more uncomfortable, and the Door Dash driver left, we each made our way to the register, ordered, and apologized for the way Maria was treated. She responded with gratitude and kindness and went back to working hard to help those of us in line. The restaurant was clean, and the food looked amazing. The Kolaches were going fast as the customers came in and ordered, but I'm not surprised. The Kolaches are always Great, and I can see why the restaurant is so popular. I can happily recommend the Kolaches, and after the customer service experience today, I can't say enough great things about Maria. When I hear someone say "Kolache", they remind me of sweet dessert pastry topped with some fruit jelly. I come to the Kolache factory and I get a variety of meat encased in a puffy dough. What a treat I got and with the selection that is offered. I have the luxury to choose the delights. I ordered a few which are bbq, ranchero and egg. I was able to share some to my family which filled their little tummies. Cost per item is around $4 which is not too bad for a delightful treat. Bottomline: Kolaches are delicious. For those unfamiliar with the term, a Kolache is a yeast based pastry filled with fruit or other ingredients. Many of the kolaches are geared towards breakfast (sausage/bacon, egg, cheese varieties). But they also have lunch-style ones including polish dogs, philly cheesesteak, pizza, bbq brisket and italian chicken among others. I usually go around breakfast time and will pick up an extra one to have as a snack later in the day. My personal favorite is the ranchero which comes with ham, egg, cheese, picante sauce and jalapenos, all inside the sweet, doughy yeast roll. This location in particular has more inside seating than other locations I have been to. They open early and close early (6am-2pm) most days, so be sure to stop in and get yours today! read more

Love the Cuban, the spinach and the bbq. Also the dessert kilaches are awesome. they aren't rolled in dough, so they look a little different, but still oh, so yummy. Food: Good taste, the bbq was our favorite the last two times. Recommend asking them to heat up the savory ones for sure. The egg mix ones had too much egg vs other ingredients which lead to a bit of a blandness that I didn't care for and probably won't get again. Service: I've stopped in twice, the first time I wasn't asked about warming up the Kolache and the second time I was. As we got savory ones both times, heating was an essential part of enjoying them as we ate there. We would probably try them again with hot sauce. We had the egg and cheese, egg/cheese/potato, and veggie supreme. The sweet ones were better. We tried the cream cheese and apple kolaches and a cinnamon roll. The cream cheese was my favorite, and it's good if you want something a little sweet but don't want the sugar overload of a donut. Let this serve as a shot across the bow: If you're a member of Generation Z (born in the late 90's or early 2000's), and you work at a restaurant, you are hereby ordered to pull your head out of your ass and pretend to give a &*^%. So, the Kolache Factory in Carmel is something I had never heard of prior to this weekend. A kolach is a type of pastry that holds a portion of filling (eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, etc.) surrounded by puffy dough. They originated in what is now known as the Czech Republic. They're about the size of a fat donut, but they're quite filling, and somewhat addictive. My wife and I decided to give them a try Saturday morning. Long story short: This was yet another prime example of a really awesome new food offering, spoiled by poor customer service. As the young lady was taking our order at the front counter, she literally stopped/halted us twice during the order up at the counter, so that she could dance to the music playing on the overhead speaker. No, I'm not joking. She forced a paying customer (me) to wait while she sang along and danced (for about 4 seconds each time) to a pop song playing on the radio. To say that her attention was not on her work would be an understatement. My wife and I looked at each other, in shocked disbelief. I nearly scolded her in front of everyone, but not wanting to cause a scene, I let her go ahead and boogie. Ironically, her dancing skills were as poor as her customer service skills. I'm refraining from naming her in this review, but she knows what she did. Utterly unbelievable. So, there you have it. If the store manager is reading this, I recommend you fire her, and then arrange to have music playing in your office while you're firing her. Maybe you can capture her full attention, because I sure couldn't on Saturday. Disclaimer #1: I have a feeling that our experience was isolated and was entirely the fault of a brain-dead kid taking our order. I have been wanting to try these since they seem like an easy breakfast or midday snack. I went on a Sunday morning around 9:30 and there were a few people leaving so I ended up being the only one inside which was nice. The staff greeted me right away and asked how they could help me. I asked for recommendations since it was all new to me and there are so many to choose from. It kind of reminds me of a Dunkin' Donuts with all the options on display and ready to be boxed up. I got the ranchero, potato egg and cheese and sausage and gravy. She asked if I wanted them warmed up which of course I said yes! By the time I was done paying I only had to wait about 30 seconds before they were ready to go. We ate them right when we got home and they were still warm. I was a little surprised how big they were but they were definitely filling. The ranchero and potato egg and cheese were very good. The sausage and gravy had dough that wasn't fully cooked on the inside so didn't get a good chance to try that one. Both were warm and the bread was soft with a lot of the filling inside. They don't skimp on the filling that's what I like. I ordered a caramel macchiato and that was great!! For around $8 you can't get beat the price. The lady behind the counter was very nice and was very fast. When you walk inside they have two chairs and the morning news was playing. Nice touch!
