We had our coffee before we had time to think and it was Amazing coffee. The mug is so cute (make sure you look into their mug deal if you plan on coming alot) and it was kept full by a team of smiling staff. The menu is broad variety of items yet they were over the top creations. I am a huge crepe fan, but I like savory crepes not the super sweet kinds, so I went with Swedish pancakes instead. I also tried the chicken apple sausage, it was not what I expected, ground chicken with light seasoning in a rough patty shape. The Swedish pancakes where good and a huge portion. I tasted the traditional pancakes and they are very good ,with the addition of their syrup it was dynamite . The decor is vintage 90s and I was there for it, even the locks and handles in the bathroom were adorable. This has been a go-to breakfast stop for me and I would always get the Sunrise Feature (even without looking at the menu) which is 3 pancakes, eggs any style, and a meat choice selection. It no longer exist so you have to build this entree choice. The service was a little different, I think there is new management because there are new menu choices, but they kept core menu items like the Dutch Baby Pancake, and Apple Pancake. The servers were nice and attentive to my party. There's a bright neon pancake man sign when you come in the door. The decor is decent, the booth seating kind of moves near the front window section of the restuarant. The buttermilk pancakes are a staple and they were delicious but the bacon that is normally a fan favorite was so fatty. It was not the best. Also the scrambled eggs were a little runny, which was disappointing. I asked for scrambled hard eggs and did not get that from the kitchen. Our foodie group came to The Original Pancake House-Indianpolis for Devour Indy Brunch one Sunday. I was very impressed with the food and the Devour Indy menu. I was able to get meat and eggs with potatoes and a side of pancakes and a beverage for $18. The food was excellent and well worth the price. The ambiance was nice and traditional for a pancake house, and the outdoor patio was very nice, so I was impressed with the patio. The service, however, was a different story. From the get go, our server was distracted and stressed out, and we could tell from her appearance that she was frustrated. The restaurant was packed and busy, so she did have her hands full with tables, but when we gave our orders to her, she did not smile and she was not professional. When she filled our water glasses, she left the water pitcher on our table and walked away, and did not retrieve it. When checking out, we had to operate the hand held electric device on our own to pay our bills because she did not come back to check on us and say good bye to us or thank us for coming into today for breakfast. I understand we all have bad days and being a former server myself, I know how overwhelming it can be on a busy weekend. It still does not excuse her not smiling and not showing professional courtesy towards us as customers. Other than that, my experience was good at The Original Pancake House-Indianpolis and reminded me how much l loved it since I first came here when I moved to Indy nine years ago. This is a great place for breakfast, but depending on your server, you may not get the best customer service. We were hoping for lunch, but The Original Pancake House only serves breakfast items. I should have figured that put from the name. This is an old school pancake house where they refresh your coffee when you're halfway through. Oh, the coffee is free for seniors that purchase an entree. My husband had free coffee (and he had about 4 cups). He said the coffee is good. They have their own labelled roasted coffee. So, it's either eggs or pancakes or both. My husband had the Morning Plate with pancakes, bacon and an egg. The thick sliced bacon is awesome with a ton of flavor and certainly memorable. He devoured the pancakes after drowning them in a cup of syrup. He enjoyed his breakfast lunch. I had the Veggie Bowl that included hash browns, topped with a nice mix of vegetables (spinach, pepper, broccoli, onions), and avocado smothered in cheese and topped with two eggs. I felt like the huge bowl was mostly healthy. I took half home, there was a lot of food. Daniel, our server, and all the other servers were super sweet and helpful. My water stayed full. My husband's coffee stayed full. The dining room is filled with booths that are comfortable for the most part. There is a 90's country vibe inside with stained glass and lots of green. I imagine people come in to drink coffee and gab. The only thing that I will call out was the host, who unwelcoming and definitely board with his job. I usually don't single out bad service, but this guy really sets a bad tone for the place. The restrooms are nice and clean. There's plenty of parking in the shared strip mall lot. My go to menu item is always the cherry crepes; however, today I noticed they were offering a fresh fruit crepe on their summer menu and decided to try it. The crepe itself is that same papery thin and buttery they regularly serve but filled with fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries inside and on top along with whipped cream inside. There was a fruit syrup on the side but it was almost not even needed. I left wondering if I just had dessert for breakfast or the other way around. In any case it was a very savory satisfying meal. My nine year old son and I visited this location in search of the famous pancakes. He rates the eggs (and I agree) as 10/10 the best we've had at any restaurant (and he also wants me to add better than mine). He was also very impressed with the generous whipped cream and I like the thick cut bacon. Service was excellent- I didn't catch the name of the young man who served us, but when he share he was contemplating attending IU we were both surprised that he was still in high school- his level of patience and professionalism led us to believe he was much older. Hot chocolate refill, samples of the "dutch baby" and a great family style breakfast ambiance rounded out our positive impression. The manager also came around to chat with us and was very friendly. One of our favorite brunch stops. We appreciate the new tables and freshened decor. Worn bench booth seats with uncomfortable springs need to be next. As always, the food & service are great though it's among the priciest breakfasts locally. Tami's usual Kajifa Cherry Crepes were great. This specific Original Pancake House is my mom and her husband's "go-to breakfast spot", and I completely understand why! The location and ambiance were great. My partner, mama, and grandpa visited on a Sunday morning. There was plenty of room for all of us to park and no wait to be seated. The inside was very family friendly and reminiscent of a classic pancake house type of restaurant/diner. The service was impressive. Our waitress was very skilled, pleasant, and had a great memory. She even informed us that if I went up to pay for our table's bill that we would get 20% off because I was wearing a Pacers shirt (YES 'CERS!). Also, the food came out fairly quick. The Food- I would rate the food a 9.8 out of 10. My food was amazing. The menu had so many tasty sounding and looking options that I can't wait to try during my future visits. I ordered pancakes, chicken sausage patties, and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were some of the best pancakes that I've ever had at a restaurant. I've been dreaming about them ever since. The real issue was the service. When we sat down another table was disputing their bill and that should have been a red flag for us. Idk if it was everyone's first day or if they passed out edibles at the start of the shift. We were asked 4 times if we ordered a Dutch baby which we did not. Finally we laughingly asked to just have the one they made for the table and we would pay for it. They then acted like we must have ordered it even though we hadn't and were trying to help out the server. We also received a chocolate milk, bowl of strawberries, and 4 cups of ketchup all unordered. It had been years since I had been to The Original Pancake House. A friend suggested we meet there for breakfast on Saturday, and I was SOLD! Their pancakes are amazing!!! Service was also great. The only drawback is the small area to wait in line at this location in Nora. I talked my son and daughter-in-law into driving from Plainfield to meet for brunch another weekend. Since there were 6 of us, we had to wait a while for a table. Our food was wonderful! You can't go wrong with any of their pancakes. It has been awhile since I've dined at the Original Pancake house. I was craving a German Dutch Baby Pancake so we made the drive Saturday morning to West 86th Street. The restaurant has a parking lot directly in front of the store with strip center parking around the corner. The lobby area holds around 10 adults and it looks packed when it's full. The line moved quickly today and we were number ten in line. Our total wait time was approximately 15 minutes. We were taken to a booth along the front window. Our server promptly brought us water and asked for our drink order. A few minutes later she returned with two coffees and cream plus we gave her our order. Know that the German Dutch Baby Pancakes takes approximately 20 minutes to prepare so we had time to drink coffee and chat. Our server was great keeping our cups refilled until we left. Our food arrived hot and the server had dropped off the syrups and the German Dutch Pancake toppings earlier during a pass through. My German Pancake was excellent and I added butter on the bottom, then lemon juice, bananas and last topped with powdered sugar. I ordered a 1/2 order (2 slices) of bacon and it was prepared as I requested. My husband said his banana pancakes were good but they didn't have any banana flavor except for the banana toppings. He was disappointed with the flavor but wanted to try something different than his go-to of ham and eggs. Our server was efficient, friendly and professional plus our breakfast order arrived quickly and hot. She even offered us a to-go cup of coffee before we left. I love the menu with all the options of numerous pancakes, waffles, crepes, several oven baked omelettes, egg specialities, fruit and several healthy options. I hadn't been to the Original Pancake House for the better part of a decade when I stopped in last weekend for a brunch-o-clock late morning breakfast last Saturday. The decor and service are fairly standard pancake house stuff. Where Original Pancake House shines has always been the food. They don't just make pancakes. They make confectionary works of breakfast food art. I ordered the Maple Pecan French Toast, which put the Quebec in French Toast and absolutely tickled my taste buds with caramelized pecan goodness.
