BYOB & chill neighborhood sushi spot Great and attentive service Good quality sushi for the price (it's a very extensive sushi menu) There's a lot of different options, some classic combinations (spicy tuna, dragon, etc) as well as more adventurous rolls. Loved how they cut the pieces slightly smaller than other places so you're not taking forever to chew through a bite. 10/10 would be back

Delicious sushi, lots of vegetarian options, and a chill ambiance that is not overly pretentious! I did make a reservation not knowing how busy they'd be on a Saturday night. There was plenty of space but I sat at the bar (although it picked up a bit as the night went on) and was able to watch the chefs prepare and chat a little with them. The service was fast and friendly. Knowing they are BYOB, I grabbed a drink from Garfield's nearby and the server at Komorebi gave me a glass but also provided water. I got edamame, the tequila roll, and chili mango. Honestly it was all delicious, but the chili mango roll stood out to me the most as the perfect complement to the tequila roll. The mango was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend ordering them together!

Komorebi sushi has a huge menu, including a lot of very good veggie roll options. They have the basic veggie rolls like a lot of restaurants, but then they also have SIX speciality veggie rolls, which I have found is very rare for a sushi place! I ordered the crispy rice as an appetizer (which does have fish) and then the inari roll for my meal. All the veggie rolls sounded good but I ended up going with the inari roll because I love fried tofu and kampyo. This was overall a really good meal and I will definitely be back to try the other rolls!

I was surprised by how much I liked this place. Their specialty rolls almost deterred me from trying it out because I wasn't sure how all the flavors would work but I recommend trying Komorebi! Fish was fresh, service was quick and friendly. It is a cute and cozy place. We ordered - salmon sashimi - aloha roll - this was my favorite roll. I love fruity flavors with my food - dragon roll - a good classic roll - garlic salmon - I took the jalapeño out but this roll surprised me the most and I liked it. The garlic was strong but not overpowering - tropical - a refreshing roll

Sushi Deluxe

The sushi deluxe combo was a great deal for 2. It came with 10 pieces of nigiri, a caterpillar roll, rainbow roll, and salad. All pretty tasty and no complaints. I liked how there was some wasabi underneath each slice of fish in the nigiri - not every place does this! Wasn't too busy on a Sunday night but service was a bit slower than we liked - could be bc we were sitting by the window and it was out of the peripheral view of the staff. They were kind and helpful when we did catch their attention though!

Everyone needs a Komorebi in their neighborhood! Finally had the chance to try their menu and was so impressed. After spending a sizable amount of time perusing the menu, I settled on the Smokey and Green In rolls. I ordered via delivery and both survived the trip well with a lovely presentation to boot. The Smokey roll was absolutely outstanding- the charred salmon was perfectly complemented by a creamy shrimp filling and crunchy spice of jalapeno. Generally, I am dubious about excessive sauces on sushi, but the wasabi mayo perfectly tied together the flavor notes. A sprinkle of cilantro really took the dish to the next level. The Green In roll was excellent as well and very refreshing- the veggies were so crunchy and the sesame sauce brought a refreshing sweetness to the spicy jalapeno. I really appreciated how fresh all of the ingredients were (especially the fish) and that the fillings were very generous. Still dreaming about this sushi and already looking forward to next time. Can't recommend Komorebi enough!

This is still my favorite sushi spot!! Not much to update from my last review, except that I've been here 4 times now and I love it more and more each time! The food: We tried some new dishes and they were all amazing and worth a try!! Ocean vinaigrette: A unique roll that features a blueberry ponzi vinaigrette. It was refreshing and fruity in the best way! Tequila: A very refreshing roll with a spicy kick, wrapped in soy bean paper, and beautifully arranged in a floral shape! Hamachi Carpaccio: Thinly sliced hamachi wrapped around thinly sliced radish with a refreshing sauce!! Baked Sake Roulade: A flavor bomb!!! So good, a must try!

Top to bottom: Mafia Roll Sunset Roll Meguan Roll Mafia Roll Black Garden Roll Top right: Mad shrimp Roll

I actually love coming to eat early because the servers are a little more attentive since they just started their shift and the service is a little faster as there are less tables. Let me tell you, though, whatever we came it was quite busy with graduations and family dinners-which I didn't mind at all! What ate a relatively large meal as I had eaten a smaller lunch. We started off with the wedge salad and a yellowtail sushi roll. The wedge salad was pretty average, but the dressing was really delicious. The yellowtail was also pretty good and the jalapeño topping gave an extra kick last minute. For the entrées, we ordered the scallops as well as the pan seared Chilean Seabass. The scallops are buttery, rich, and had a perfect crispy crust. The Seabass was flaky and light-overall a very good combination of flavors. We got a side of the broccolini and then the crème brûlée and a piece of Keylime pie to go. Overall a very filling and delicious meal-I was pleasantly surprised with the scallops and how light the sea bass was.

A seafood birthday dinner has become her tradition, can't say I'm upset about this!! We started off with drinks! Two of us got the Floral Cloud and the other two got the salty air margarita! The salty foam (replacing the traditional salt rim) was perfection!! The presentation of the floral cloud was so cute! For starters we got the patatas bravas, 10/10 would recommend!! The sauce was delicious!! I personally got the poke bowl, it was love at first bite!! While it may not look like a huge portion I was only able to finish 3/4 of it. Shared with the after in an attempt to save room for dessert!! Two of my friends got the scallops and the other got the lobster roll. Scallops were delicious, they shared a bite with me! The lobster roll left me a bit unsatisfied. While it had plenty of meat it lacked lasting flavor!! Now let's talk about the MVP's of the night- Dessert! HIGHLY recommend the key lime pie if you're a fan! It also includes some of that salt foam! The sticky toffee was a huge hit at our table!! And the passion fruit in the flan was a very yummy add on!! The ambiance was beautiful, our waiter was so kind, and the service was great. The waiter misheard my order so I didn't get my right entree the first time but they were super kind, quick, and accommodating to bring out my correct order. The food was AMAZING! We shared the tuna tartar as an appetizer and it was one of the best things i've tried! The presentation was also so fun and pretty, served inside a coconut with plantain chips on the side. I ordered the lobster roll and it was so so so amazing, definitely best i've ever had. The bun was toasted and buttery and the lobster filled with flavor.. I could eat 5 of them!! They also had brought seasoned corn nuts to the table when we were seated and salted caramels for dessert, both fun and yummy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a bit of a nicer dinner in Chicago. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and it looked like the place was full, we were glad we had one and got seated right away.

Available only in the bar area, we were able to find a table for two inside by the windows, in spite of it being very packed. Our server was quick to approach our table, even though hubs had wandered over to the bar to order. After I summoned him back, we ordered a couple of Stellas, a Filet Slider and Baked Goat Cheese; each item was $5 on the HH menu. A few minutes later, Hubs waved over our server again to order 4 oysters, which were BOGO during HH. Upon her suggestion, he chose the smaller East Coast oysters. He told me they were really good and he was happy with his choice. I had two good bites of the filet slider & was delighted at how delicious it was. The piece of meat was quite large, especially for $5! Thick & juicy, it was cooked perfectly medium rare. The slider was plated with lots of crispy string fries that were very tasty. Our other app, the baked goat cheese, was served atop a skillet of tomato sauce with four pieces of toasted bread. This was also a delicious plate. Service was very on-point, and we never felt rushed, even after Happy Hour ended. At some point, the pianist arrived & we enjoyed a rousing selection of yacht rock tunes as we finished our beers. My favorite piece of ambiance was the steampunk-powered ceiling fans, even though they probably did very little to circulate the air. The decor was vintage travel, which I loved! I'll definitely return to Hugo's again, at least for Happy Hour, the next time I'm in Chicago's Gold Coast area.

That's not ambience, that's a liability. The seafood "tower" is a plate. A good plate -- tastiest thing we ate -- but when the menu says tower, you expect something vertical. The mac and cheese, however, is genuinely outstanding. It alone justified getting dressed up. The steaks did not. One overcooked, one undercooked. At a steakhouse. At $300 a person, give or take. Then the bill arrived with a 3.5% "Emp. Benefits" surcharge -- unannounced, undisclosed, not on the menu, or website. Server said it was a 'credit card processing fee'. At this price point, padding the bill with a hidden fee and dressing it up as charity isn't charming. It's deceptive. Just price your food honestly. Come for the mac and cheese and order the double seafood plate, if you can afford it. Bring a flashlight. Read your bill carefully. Shorts and hoodies are OK, web-site's "dress chic" requirement is a joke.
