KBC was our favorite spot on our honeymoon. The service was fahtastic, attentive, and quick. The food was well-prepared, delivered timely, and overall delicious. Our favorite part was the ambience. After long hike, what do you what? A great place to eat. Well that's what I always think about. Kona Brewing Company is located near the water in the Koko Marina Center. Parking is pretty hard to find if you're going during peak hours. There's a lot of other shops and food places that you can eat at in the marina. We ended up going to Koko! Our waitress was really nice but I felt that she was handed a short stick when she came on shift that day. Let me explain. Well for one, they were out of a lot of stuff. Like things you shouldn't be out of. Things that you could go right across the shirt and buy. So just from that I have to drop it down. And we were a party of 8 I believe and it took a while for use to get our soups before the meal. The food did come out a little warm. I think it was just an off day for them. I've came before and it wasn't like this. But I have to give the review from the time I came. If you're looking for beers, Kona Brewery does have a wide range of beers. I'm not much of a beer drinker so that doesn't apply to me. They do have an online menu if you wanna check it out. Prices range from $13 to about $30 depending on what you get. Overall, that time I went was not so great. Like I said, I've been there before but it wasn't that bad. Would I go again, probably not if I was hiking again on that side. The strawberry spinach salad was absolutely delicious. It came with strawberries, macadamia nuts, and strawberry vinaigrette. I also ordered a cup of gumbo on the side, which was fantastic. This is some of the best food that I have tasted in Hawaii Kai! The service was excellent, and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend paying a visit. Mahalo! read more

Fantastic place. We came here for dinner as wanted to try the beer. Nice location on the water. Ordered the hawaiian pizza and pepperoni rolls. Both plates were delicious, cooked very well. Waiter was friendly and service was fast. read more

First time here with family. The ambiance is good. Our server was super attentive and very nice. I wish I can remember her name, but kudos to her. Anyways, the locals recommended Rolled pizza, Roasted garlic, Mana grill and Macadamia crusted fish.... They're all yummy! Portions are big, a definite plus! Super lively, fun restaurant. It's almost always packed, so plan accordingly because a wait is likely around dinnertime! Before you order your beer, make sure to check out the seasonals on tap - there's a chalkboard behind the bar. You won't get them in stores so try them while you can! Kona Brewing Company is one of my favorite places to go when I am in town visiting my relatives. In fact I have been here three times this trip. This review os of last nights visit. We got to the restaurant between 7:30pm and 8:00pm. They quoted us 25 to 30 minutes for a table. It took maybe 15 monutes before we were seated. Our waitress was prompt getting to our table. (I wish I could remember her name) I ordered the Wailua wheat beer, which they were out of, again. So I went with my next favorite, big wave. It was refreshing after a long day at the beach. We ordered the pretzel bites for the table, they were a great snack, nothing special, but a good app to share. For dinner I got the Linguine Primavera (vegetarian dish), it was excellent. The garlic and chilli flakes might be too spicy for some, but I loved it! I finished bu having a lava flow dessert. The hot fudge made with the porter was great, but the brownie itself was just so so. Kona Brewing is great because it has something for everybody. Definitely worth checking out read more

I don't know that there is anything not to like about this place. Idyllic location in a marina setting with breezes blowing through the ample dockside seating. And beer. Lots of nifty microbrewed beer. The portions of food are quite generous, as I learned in ordering a "half" salad, which turned out to be larger than the standard dinner salad at many other restaurants. The sandwiches are likewise big and tasty. My brothers both swear by their zesty Cubanos. The variety of beers is suitably broad enough to appeal to most palates. They offer flights so you may select your favorite. They do not brew onsite, however, so you might miss out on some good stuff. Kona brewing company is/was a huge disappointment. The beers are basic and the food isn't great. The food and drinks are way over priced for the quality that is delivered. If they lowered their prices then maybe it wouldn't feel like such a rip-off. There are much better breweries on the island that provide great customer service, Craft beers, and reasonably priced delicious food. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

This brewery is great. If you go I recommend eating outside and taking in the view. The atmosphere and vibe is awesome. They do a buffet on Sundays if your into football and have huge selection of beer. Only reason I give them a 4 star is because there were no fries to come along with my burger. The burger was great with an explosion of flavors but imo a burger has to have fries. Their pizza was money and tasted great. The beer is Kona. You can buy it in Cali and alot of the mainland. Its not new; however, there are always restuarant exclusive Brews..which rarely disappoint. The food is a great representation of Hawaiian Cuisine: if you didnt know what Hawaiian Cuisine was. It is consistantly average in quality. Average, but consistant. I havent been here since 2016 and the food is the exact, the EXACT same. The service is not consistant. It is sometimes very slow and unattentive. Tonight, my server Alyssa was great! Came with 6 people at 8:05pm and was turned away due to the fact that we were too close to "last seating" at 8:30pm. The restaurant also doesn't close until 9pm. There were maybe 2-3 couples before us, so I couldn't understand why we weren't accommodated. However if we came at 8:30pm, it wouldn't have been frustrating to be turned away. I've worked as a hostess before at the Kona Brewing Co's home location in Kona, and we did everything we could to seat everybody who put their name down, even if that meant giving people 1-2 hour wait times and closing later than we wanted to. read more

Every time I have visited Kona Brewing Company I have had a great experience. The location is awesome, it is right on the marina and has many doors that open to overlook the water. They also have lots of TVs if you want to catch a game. They have a ton of food great options. I would definitely recommend the tacos. I am also a big fan of Kona's beer and they have quite a few options on tap. Kona is a little pricey but the food, beer, and atmosphere makes it worth the price tag! read more

Visited here for lunch with the fam. Our server, Joe, was fabulous. He was knowledgeable about the available beers and the food menu. He gave suggestions that were perfect for us. The food came out quickly and all 3 of us enjoyed our meal. The portion sizes were just right for us and the food was all very good. Established in 2003.

The Koko Marina Pub in Oahu is Kona Brewing Company's second restaurant, right on the docks of Koko Marina. Open since 2003, the recent renovation of this pub was inspired by a traditional Hawaiian canoe house. The pub provides outstanding views of the marina and its lush, green backdrop. What's more, the outdoor seating area and full length windows allow for a relaxed, airy atmosphere, and the 48-tap beer delivery system never disappoints.

A Sad Decline of What Used to Be a Hawaii Kai Institution It honestly saddens me to write this review because I have been coming to Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii Kai regularly for years. Kona used to be a place where the community gathered--locals would stop in for a drink, grab some food, catch up with friends, and enjoy the atmosphere. It was a thriving neighborhood restaurant and bar that felt like a true part of the Hawaii Kai community. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years, I have watched a noticeable decline in service, food, atmosphere, and management. On my recent visit, I was struck by how empty the bar was. This used to be a place that was bustling with locals and regular customers. Many of the people I used to see there regularly have simply gone elsewhere. The menu is a fraction of what it used to be, with far fewer choices and portions that seem considerably smaller. For an establishment of this size and reputation, the current menu is disappointing and doesn't offer the variety or value I remember. The service has also suffered. Some longtime bartenders seem less interested in customer satisfaction than they once were. I can't say whether that is a reflection of management, staffing issues, or declining morale, but there certainly seems to be a disconnect between the people working there and the customers they're supposed to be serving. When employees don't feel supported or appreciated by management, unfortunately, the customers often feel the effects. And then there's the ambience. Kona used to have an energy--a feeling that you were walking into a neighborhood gathering place. That feeling has largely disappeared. I don't write this review because I want to see Kona fail. Quite the opposite. I remember when Kona Brewing Company was a thriving part of our community, and I would love nothing more than to see it return to that level of service, quality, and community spirit. There are still good people there, and I believe the establishment has tremendous potential. But something needs to change. Management needs to listen to the longtime customers and the employees, take a hard look at what has changed, and find a way to bring back the Kona that Hawaii Kai used to love. This is an great place to go for lunch, dinner, or just to enjoy some food after you are done screwing around in the Hawaii Kai/Hanauma Bay/Sandy Beach area. I came with a friend from the mainland on 9-18-2012 for this visit. We were quickly seated outside with a nice view of the marina. Wait service was great/fast and the Waiter mentioned the Happy Hour Specials at the time. We opted for the pepperoni rolls, the Cubana Sandwich (I added real bacon on top of the Canadian bacon), and my firend had a Porterhouse Dip Sandwich. All our food was very good and had no issues with things..... to the point that we opted to grab a pizza to go for later on in the evening. We grabbed Kulana Bacon Cheeseburger pizza and ate it a few hours later after we went back to my condo and had some beers. It warmed up nicely and was very tasty. We had several beers there as well.....I went with my normal Kona Longboard and she had (2) Wailua Wheats. Both were fresh and amazing tasting...... One of the rudest hostess experiences I've ever had. So much for "Aloha." We walked into Kona Brewing, and the hostess couldn't even be bothered to greet us or ask how many were in our party. She simply grabbed two menus, said, "Follow me," and walked away. She seated us at a table in direct, bright sunlight. After a long day, I was already overheated, so I explained that I have MS and politely asked if we could sit in the shade. Her response? She threw the menus down on the shaded table, rolled her eyes, and walked away without saying another word. There were MAYBE six other diners in the entire restaurant, so it's not like she was dealing with a packed house or an overwhelming rush. There was absolutely no reason for that level of rudeness or dismissiveness. A little basic courtesy goes a long way. Apparently, that was too much to ask. This was not my first visit to Kona Brewing, but it will absolutely be my last. Wow. Just wow. Never again. read more

Soon sitting next to me and my family at the bar, was a man and his dog. Must have been a regular, because the waitress brought the dog a bowl of water. No respect for my eating, or asking do you mind if the individual sits next to you while your eating dinner, with his dog. Not saying dogs should be kept in pins and away, but I personally do not think it's right to assume, I wouldn't mind without even asking. To share my dinner space. Great food, Great service.... But that's not what I'm here to talk about. Lets talk about their desserts. Several of their desserts include the description "Topped with black sand porter fudge sauce." As a person who loves both beer and chocolate this is clearly a big win win. But do not be deceived by this mountainous betrayal. This tiny chocolate drizzle that comes on top of their desserts is nothing more than Hershey's syrup. (Straight from the mouth of one of their employees) I felt hurt, I felt abandoned, seduced by words promising hope, happiness and a better life, only to be left a bitter shell of a man with a spoonful of black deceit you could buy at any grocery store. I had a great time at the Kona Brewery Company. Wailua Wheat is a great summer beer made with some passion fruit also the Koko Brown hints of coconut and toffee. Easy to drink ;) For dinner I had the shrimp tacos. They were awesome, delicious sauce and excellent tortilla. I never had a tortilla so good, weird. But seriously wow! I also had the strawberry spinach salad topped with Gorgonzola cheese and toasted macadamia nuts. The strawberry dressing was softly sweet and creamy. To start I had the tuna tartare small plate, also very satisfying. Yummy!!! Plus it's on the water in the marina so lots to look and watch. We arrived on a surprisingly crowded Saturday afternoon. We figured Konas would be faster than the long line outside of Teddy's. We were wrong. The food was solid and the kids menu offered some different takes on traditional favorites for the kids. The problem was that we waited nearly 15 minutes after being seated before we ever saw a server. That wait was only surpassed by the wait we experienced after we ordered. Our server seemed overwhelmed by the situation and apologized several times for the long delay. I love Kona Brewing Company or as I call it... KBC! We need more breweries/micro brews in HI. The food here is good... I like the pizza. The beer is very crisp and refreshing as well. They had a seasonal IPA on tap which was very good. Their Cast Away IPA is good as well... especially if you enjoy very hoppy beers. The atmosphere is really nice there; a bit touristy, but its fun none the less. My only complaint is that they do not offer frech fries with the sandwiches. The waiter told me that they do not have friers?... so they put a pile of store bought chips on my plate. Besides that, the other food is good and the beer is great! read more

If Yelp had 10 stars...they would get it. The hummus appetizer was literally the best eats in our whole trip...wonderful and not too expensive. The tables outside have an amazing view of the inland harbor and views of the mountains (see my pic). Here's the best part...I left my camera at the table when I left...a brand new Canon 60D...and when I realized it and came back...the manager was smiling and waiting for me with it. Amen! Hostess was the nicest & that isn't saying much. The guy that took us to the table didn't say a word, still not sure if he was a server, host or food runner. It took him 10 minutes just to come back to the table & drop waters off & even though we had our beers, appetizer & meal picked out it didn't matter cause we couldn't get a word in before he rudely walked away. Ok so ill start with the plus side: great location on the marina good pizza and beer! live music on the weekends the bad: every time I dine here the service is terrible. Very grumpy and rude staff. the restaurant smells like a dirty bar when you first walk in the quality of the food isn't great but its decently priced for what it is. verdict: hawaii kai isn't a place for foodies, so unless you need a quick bite before hitting the beach or you are absolutely starving I would say go elsewhere. read more

Oahu does not have very many micro brews, brewpubs, good beers like the mainland but Kona is the only exception. I'm a fan of the red/brown ales so naturally enjoy the Lavaman Red Ale. Followed by Wailua Wheat. This location at koko marina is really cool. Right on the marina, something you rarely get to experience in Hawaii, a dock bar. The pizzas are really good and if you eat meat than the beef dip sandwich with au jus is well worth it. Great views, great location, good food, great beers! read more

Definitely worth the trip down from Waikiki! The bar area is flashy with different kinds of sports enthusiasts, whereas the outdoors provide magnificent views of the marina. They have a long list to choose from, with many good options from local cuisine to pizzas and burgers. The steak was fabulous; very tender indeed, while the garlic mashed potatoes and green beans were very tasty. They offered good powers, both fast and courteous. I really use to like the food here but i think different people must be cooking it now. I use to know a guy that cooked here, he was a tall pale guy with glasses. I never knew his name but I talked to him one day after his shift and complemented him on the food.. This was some time ago and I haven't noticed him around in a while. The problem was the restaurant closes at 9 PM (and this is the island's premier brewery and pub?) and they clearly rushed the food and service to get us out.
