I created a yelp account just to post this. Do not have Kona Cleaners unless you are looking for a very efficient way to get rid of clothing. I used the delivery service to pick up 2 suites. That same delivery service dropped off one suit. When I contacted Kona Cleaners, they had no record of ever receiving my other suit. Which one did they lose? The brand new suit I had just had tailored for a wedding I was going to be in. I have since contacted them multiple times, each time I get told something to the effect of, "We will look into it" or, "A manager will contact you tomorrow" Looking back on the situation, what I think was the most interesting was that when I gave the driver my two suits, he did not record this down anywhere, or give me a receipt for the two suits I gave him. It's no wonder they lost the suit, they have zero way of tracking it besides the word of the driver. Do yourself a favor, if you are thinking about using Kona Cleaner, just throw your clothes in a dumpster, it will be less of a time sink. read more

Worst dry cleaner ever! This company could care less about the clothes that are dropped off. I dropped off clothes and was told/guaranteed that they would be ready for pick up today. Went to pick up and one item was lost then found in Riverside. All manager could say was sorry, come back Monday! Wouldn't normally be a big deal but we are going on a trip tomorrow and need the pants!!! This has now happened twice to us at this cleaner. While I was in line the same thing happened to two other people trying to pick up their clothes. Payment is due when you pick up, so why does Kona Cleaners feel they do not have to keep up their side and have our clothes ready when they say/print on recipes they will be ready. If you can't keep up with demand, do not accept more clothing to dry clean!!!! read more

Last week, I was walking out of Tabu Shabu and I spotted Kona Cleaners. My main Kona Cleaners is the Orange store. However, this location came in handy, because I had a few blouses in my car, yearning for a dry cleaning. And since I frequent other businesses in the area, I decided to give this Kona a shot. The staff here, is full of enthusiasm, which is key for customer service. A woman named Sandie assisted me and was super detailed when answering my questions about alterations, and wash & fold services. She was so helpful in fact, that I'll definitely be trying out their wash and fold soon, because let's face it, the chore of laundry can be tedious, so why not let someone else handle those loads for you? I know I often feel like passing that laundry torch. Did this location do my clothes justice? They surely did. Once again, they removed the white residue that gathers under the arms of my blouses (I refuse to switch to clear deodorant!). No trace that those stains ever existed! High five! The way they neatly pressed my blouses, I chose not to wear them right away, just so I don't disrupt the perfection and cleanliness going on in my closet. Kona always gives my wardrobe a second wind. Ooh, it looks like they're going to be getting 24/7 locker service too! Such a convenient option. I think I also saw a popcorn machine. Now that's unique. Dropped off a pair of linen Chanel Espadrilles for cleaning and lets just say I will never use Kona Cleaners again. They claim that the shoes were absolutely not washed in a machine and not spun in any way, but things just don't come back shrunken and shredded by dry cleaning alone. Not only did the shoes shrink but the soles of the shoes hardened and are now like stiff bricks. Detergent residue was still visible on the woven sides. The shoes didn't even come back clean! We went back and forth with Alexa Romero who needs a course or two in Business Writing and professionalism. She acknowledged Kona ruined my shoes but was unhelpful in resolving my claim and had a take it or leave it attitude. Although Kona admitted they ruined my shoes but would not cover the replacement cost based on "depreciation". My shoes were lightly worn just a few times and still in pristine condition. We went back and forth with Alexa and even presented her with a time stamped photo of just an hour prior to me dropping off the shoes which proved the shoes to be in excellent condition. The soles of the shoes showed almost no wear, but Alexa claimed that based on their idea of "depreciation" I would only get 30% replacement value. I wanted to ask Alexa how she came up with that figure but her take it or leave it attitude left me scrambling. I get it, things depreciate and shoes even more so, But we're not talking sneakers bought at Costco these were CHANEL ESPADRILLES which cost me over $700. read more

The garments must have got caught on a machine or something because there was no way they could have fixed them. After the second time, the pants and shirt were exactly the same... Reall awful customer service. Cheated me out of $200+ for my wedding dress cleaning. Did not give me an invoice before cleaning, just took my dress and said they'd call me later. Added on additional services without my consent and refused to give me my dress until I paid these additional fees. I just wanted a simple wedding dress cleaning, which took a month to clean btw. Manager refused to speak to me and refused to give me my wedding dress back until paying the additional fees. The staff was very helpful but ultimately it's Oscar, the manager, that is at fault. This place deserves 0 stars. The alterations lady completely ruined my dress for Vegas and made it into a blouse! I had a safety pin where it needed to be altered and they had me pay before I had the item. Never doing that again because they should be paying for my dress as well as refunding me the charge. This USED to be my favorite cleaners. When I moved to California I needed to find a cleaner ASAP. I saw this one on Yelp because of its high rating and because they are near me. The first two times I was very satisfied with the work in the service. But the next two times were the worst ever had. I had to resend my items back because some things were overlooked(lint, a chemical smell, pulling on silk). Also, I was charged twice because they quoted me one price, picked up my merchandise, then was charged without my consent. Not only did they charge me an additional $15, they double charged meh original price of $38-a total of $91. I called about the charges they said I had to wait for the girl that charged me twice and they could not take care of me because it wasn't their fault, it was hers I waited for a phone call-nothing. I came into the store and the girl no longer works there, how convenient. No refund, no apology, no future credit... nothing. I started to go through my charges and they've done this twice to me. The first time only a $5 discrepancy(whatever) but this last mishap is just absurd. read more

Recently moved to Newport Beach and tried this place out. Conclusion: Too pricey for the level of workmanship and attention to detail this place offers. I paid $5.89 for a pair of pants and $2.75 per dress shirt. In return, I got thick double-creases on one pant leg and triple-creases on the other leg and random creases that span the horizontal width and vertical lengths of my shirts. The quality level was on par with one of those $1 per item dryclean shops. In addition to my pants having an accordion effect from the additional front creases, they came back with lots of hair, dust, and lint on them. It looks like they somehow electro-statically charged my pants and dropped them on the floor. I've never had this happen before. At the very least, someone could have tried to remove the lint before packaging the clothes. Second, when I came to pick up my order, the pants were ready to go but the shirts weren't. When I asked if they did the shirts at the store, the person at the counter person fumbled a response-something about having to sign up for delivery service if I wanted my shirts done on-site. I guess I should have asked before dropping them off. From past experience, I know that having your shirts done on-site a) minimizes the chance that they'll lose your clothes; b) helps your order get completed together; and c) ensures some degree of quality control. Looking at how my shirts turned out, it made sense. Attention to detail on par with dollar cleaners. read more

The staff is wonderful and flexible with my time schedule as I work for the airlines and always need my white shirts cleaned and sometimes only have a day in between trips and need them done ASAP. I choose this place because it had high reviews and a reputable reputation. Overall, people were nice but the work done was terrible and overpriced. I got my wool coat dry cleaned and it came back uncombed and full of lint. I didnt know why i paid 22$ for dry cleaning and for it to come back full of lint. Also I had holes under the arm on both sides and needed the seams resewn, I checked and there were still holes when I got it back. Luckily, they are good about keeping their integrity of the brand but I was super disappointed at the overall service. I got another item resewn and they did that incorrectly so I had to get them to fix it. Overall, you can skip this place and find another spot unless you like paying premium for mediocre work and having to double check the work being done (which you pay to be worry free- but not here ) read more

I wish I read reviews before going to this horrible place. I brought two of my chefs coats for work to get them cleaned and starched. I brought them in at 12 PM. I need a big coats by 10 AM the next morning, and they told me that they could rush them. I left and then received a text at 3:30 PM saying that the coats were ready. To my surprise when I picked him up the coats were just starched and absolutely not cleaned at all. I brought this to their attention and as I was pointing out the stains they told me that sometimes their solution is not able to take out deep stains. The stains I had were catch up and make up stains!! Just food stains!! I asked them to actually clean the coats this time and please have them done by 10 AM. The real kicker is when I called the next morning to make sure they would be done at 10 AM. The woman I spoke to told me that they had already worked on my coats the first time!! I told them that was B. S. and my coats still had food stains and they can't tell me that simple cleaning wouldn't take out ketchup.... Nervous to pick them up later. I had a bed skirt in there that they dry cleaned instead of alternating. So I brought that back in to be fixed no big deal. Shortly after I was so excited to wear my new pants that I had shortened, and the alteration done was so poorly. I'm not even sure what the person who did it was thinking. I can't explain it but it was so ugly. Ok so now I go back in again to have those fixed for a second time and they charge me another $20 for the same pants that I have still have yet to wear. I'm fairly new in town and I will not be using Kona Cleaner again or recommending it. Sorry in advance for the rant post. Like other unhappy reviewers, the staff here are apathetic and/or not trained well. They could care less and not once did anyone display or at least fake empathy or offer an apology, which would have been the minimum of good customer service. Don't bother bringing anything you treasure or love here. Completely damaged a beloved stuffed rabbit from my childhood that I brought to be simply cleaned. Dropped off two stuffed rabbits that were a bit dusty and had some small black spots of one of the feet after work in the middle of the week (I think it was Wed). There wasn't any heavy duty cleaning needed - just a solid refreshing clean. When I asked if they could handle cleaning the stuff rabbits, I was told by Sandy that "her guy" that handles these kinds of things will be in tomorrow and they'll let me know if they can clean them. Totally okay with that and left the rabbits with her for him to look at. Got a call the next day that yes, they'll clean the two stuffed rabbits and it'll be about h and should take "several" days. I was fine with this general estimate as I was not in any rush. I happened to come in with the BF on Sunday to pickup his shirts and asked if my rabbits were done. I was told they'd be ready by Wed - again, Sandy was there. Came in Thursday and the guy behind the counter first can't find them, then I'm told they're "being sewn". Why? I dropped them off to be simply cleaned so what would involve sewing?? Oh, because they had horribly damaged one of the rabbits. They literally showed me my rabbits shoved in a bag, with big clumps of stuffing and one leg that had been completely ripped off and the other hanging on barely by a thread. The ribbons on the ears were pulled down to the middle (probably in the way-too-aggressive-machine they were put into) and the ends of the ribbons were tattered. And the staff were all clearly reluctant to tell me. Oh and no one bothered to call me that they wouldn't be ready WEDNESDAY. I came in on THURSDAY, a day after they were quoted to be ready. If you damaged my items that I entrusted to your care, wouldn't you do the right thing, the professional thing, and call to tell me you f***ed up, but would make every effort to correct it and make it right? Nope. Just have me drive down to waste my time and then greet me with my damaged items shoved in a bag. Sandy was there by the way. I was clearly unhappy and flatly said, it looks horrible. All she would say, was "oh let her staff member sew it up. He's going to sew them up. That's why we gathered it up and put it all in the bag." I'm convinced they never even planned on telling me they had damaged the rabbit at all. read more

On FrRIDAY I received a call asking what my duvet cover looked like because they were unsure which one was mine. Horrible service and never listened to my request. They always put plastic clips on my shirts that end up wrinkling my shirts more than when I dropped them off. I had to steam my shirts every time before I wore them because of the wrinkles the clips make. I requested multiple times to have them stop putting the plastic clips on my shirts and finally after the 4th time of them doing it, I told them I'm taking my business elsewhere. What was the girls response? "Oh ok bye"...... Seriously? After spending over $1,500 last year the response you give is "oh ok bye". I asked to talk to a manager and someone came over to apologize and told me a regional manager would call me. Did that happen? No. read more
