Waimea Combo Plate with mashed potatoes and veggies

    1. Tasty - soft chicken and veggies. Perfect tenderness. Teriyaki Sauce too thin for my liking though. Fell off the chicken. 2. Mashed potatoes - flavor not so great. Added butter and pepper at home = better. Nice and fluffy texture. 3. Did not eat in person so service and ambience unknown. 4. Spam musubi LOTS of rice. Seaweed not strong flavor. Good sauce inside.

My first time came here. It's a bit challenging to get a parking spot. I need to go around one block and find a way to get into the parking lot behind the building. All the staff were pretty chill and nice. Love all their smiles. I got my favorite, Beef Stew. I ordered this often in Lynnwood site, especially when I was sick. Regarless, it's on different location, the taste is the same! So, I'm happy about it. The vibe is completely different than Lynnwood one. This restaurant is darker and guests are way louder. Mostly, university students, I think. I like dim light atmosphere, unfortunately, I can't enjoy it much here. Too loud? Too dark? Or it's just not the right light bulbs, it got me dizzy. It was at night, it made the room even gloomy. Upon returning to the parking lot, the atmosphere is somewhat unsettling. This is particularly true for a woman walking alone. To access the parking lot, I had to walk through the darkness to the back of the building. Unfortunately, due to the narrow parking lot, one car was parked in a manner that blocked the exit way, requiring me to reverse all the way out. Overall fantastic staff, fantastic food, but I may not comeback because the vibe just doesn't suit me. This restaurant will most likely be very busy in the better location and fresh look.

Being from Hawaii I was wanting to eat local breakfast. It was just like being at home on Oahu! Service was super good, wait help was friendly and food came out fast. The place felt comfortable and a welcoming atmosphere. When we are back in Seattle we will definitely be back

    Mochiko Chicken (all rice)

My husband and I moved into the area almost 3 years ago. The Kona Kitchen is one of our staples! Everything they have is delicious! My go to is the mochico chicken. The crispiness and the flavor is to die for! I've ordered the teriyaki chicken several times. Although when I switch to chicken breast, get considerably less chicken than the standard dark meat teriyaki. The breakfast fare is standard, but the option of Portuguese sausage takes it to a different level! (I typically don't order breakfast here, but when I do, I would choose this or Moco loco). Delicious Hawaiian fare, on the mainland. No complaints here! Mahalo!

My favorite karaoke spot. I've been going for years. Their bar is cozy and the bartenders make great cocktails. Got to try their Mothers Day brunch and now it's my favorite brunch spot. The advantage of a buffet was that I was able to try a variety of dishes. Their coconut syrup was very good as well as the coconut jelly. Fave was the moco loco with kimchi. The slightly funky sour cabbage cut through the savory patty and gravy, such a tasty combination. Liliko'i mimosas were also very good. Although busy staff were very attentive.

Chicken Katsu Loco Moco with gravy on the side and grilled onions.

2 stars might be kinda harsh, but the food really wasn't that great this time. It's been years since I've been at this location (the Lynnwood location seems to be the better of the two). I got the fried rice loco moco, upgraded to chicken katsu and added grilled onions. I got it to go so I asked for the gravy on the side so it wouldn't make the katsu soggy. They put the gravy in a tiny dipping cup. For as expensive as this cost, I would hope for a better serving size on my gravy. The fried rice and katsu were virtually tasteless and the grilled onions weren't really cooked. Oh, and my overeasy egg was overcooked to an overhard. Really disappointing, especially considering they aren't all that cheap. I hope it was just a bad night. I've never had any problems with the food from the Lynnwood location.

Rainbow cake was moist, flavorful and sliced big.

We enjoyed a lovely family brunch at Kona Kitchen on a recent Sunday--my first time here. First impressions? The old-school vibe was welcoming, the place was busy, and I knew we were in for some great food (and dessert). We were greeted and seated by Jordan, who provided top-notch service. He answered all our questions, offered helpful suggestions, and checked in on us throughout our meal. You can tell customer care is a priority here. We ordered a variety of brunch dishes along with coffee: * Mochiko Chicken (4/5): tasty and well-seasoned, but we would've preferred chunkier cuts for more crunch. * Kalbi Beef (5/5): tender, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. * Da Kanak Attack! (5/5): lived up to the name--super satisfying. * Biscuits & Gravy (4/5): delicious but came with just a little gravy (we're gravy lovers, so we asked for extra). * Another breakfast plate (??) that was equally hearty. Portions were generous, and the mac salad that came with our meals was the way I like it- not too mayo-y. We couldn't resist dessert especially after a bit of encouragement from Jordan. We ordered two slices of haupia cake (a must-try!) and a slice of each of the rainbow and guava cake. The haupia was my favorite: light, coconut-y, moist, and not overly sweet. It was also my first time trying Hawaiian-style rainbow cake--fun and delicious! Kona Kitchen is a gem, especially if you're craving local-style comfort food and warm service.

Good lunch spot! My friends and I ordered two of da kanak attack and saimin. I thought the da kanak attack portions were generous! Personal standouts from da kanak attack were the teriyaki beef and macaroni salad; I thought the mochiko chicken had too much breading and not enough chicken. Service was attentive. I'll be back to order the same thing or try something new.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was wuite busy! First time here and im quite surprised to see they have Hawaiian buffet for $32.50 (?) per person. I would say it's quite a popular option here as many tables were doing it. I ordered their loco moco with fried rice (+$$) with katsu chicken (+$$). First impression, looks good smells good. I appreciate the gravy looks a little darker than most places that look quite light and bland. The fried rice is quite flavorful and savory from the chopped ham, balanced with the gravy. The katsu chicken was great and flavorful, but i find it definitely on the dry side and already cold when served. It needs a little more gravy in my opinion because of that.

Let's start with Pros: Locally owned. Always a win for me. Staff seems nice and have good relations. It's a vintage spot. Food: :/... I had the traditional loco Moco. I really hate to trash small business.. but guys... come on. 1. The flavor is extremely underwhelming. The beef doesn't have any salt or pepper taste. I'm glad I ordered a side of sausage because that's what saved this dish. Can't can't really complain about eggs and rice, but for whatever reason.. this version didn't have much flavor. I've had much better. 2. Second photo shows you what I looked at mid review.. raw burger meat. I've had a long day and don't feel like driving back over. I will call tomorrow to speak with manager about a refund but.. come on. 3. I know that your business structure is set up the way that you want to run it but consider fresh ingredients.. that patty taste like a frozen patty from Walmart. --- Again, I hate to trash small business, but this was a really bad experience and I'm hoping that you guys will consider giving me a refund

I can't compare to any other Hawaiian restaurants but Kona Kitchen was great. The Da Kanak Attack! dish gives you a taste of everything. The staff is great and the interior is unique.

I got the Banzai pipeline w/ Teri chicken. Portions are big and contains lots of rice. The chicken was tender and had good flavor. The spring rolls were ok, not super crispy. I liked the sweet and sour sauce on the side, it went well with the dish. Restaurant itself has quite a lot of seating and there was no wait time. Overall, solid Hawaiian spot in seattle with reasonable prices.

How is the parking? I am visiting from Hawaii and want to take my handicapped mom. Hard time walking.

it's in the back of the restaurant it's kind of tight parking but manageable. once you've parked you would have to walk towards the front not sure up to dropping her off up front and double parking then parking out back. hope this helps also you…

    Is it dog friendly?

I have not seen any outdoor seatings for this business (as of June 2021), so I think it's not.

To start, while the server took our order, he sat on the table next to ours. Not AT the table...ON the table. Like he put his ass on the table while entering our order into his handheld system. The food came out quickly and was tasty, but honestly didn't look very appetizing. I got the All-Star Ramen and everything was the same color. See the picture. Visually underwhelming for an "All-Star" dish. Just sort of...beige. As soon as our food was served, the server went on his break, grabbed a bowl of Ramen, and sat just outside the window where we could watch him eat his dinner. From that point on the only service we got was by flagging down somebody else in the restaurant. My five dollar glass of iced tea was refilled once and only because I motioned somebody over to get me some more. There were no condiments at our table, so I had to go get some from a nearby table because nobody brought any to us. The walls were all patched and dirty, and the bathroom floor was covered in toilet paper. Honestly, this component of it was kind of gross and made the place feel kind of seedy. I've been here before, though it's been years....it was better before. We paid $60 for two people. I tipped but not well because, frankly, the service was not that great. I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. Sad that they've fallen off their game.

Honestly, every staff member here was very nice and friendly. I only remember Natalie because she was always our host when we came here and today I finally took a glance at her name tag. So far, I've had mango sago, chive cakes, pad kee mao beef, pad ka prao beef, and crab crawl noodles, and all were good! The chive cakes tasted just like the ones my Indonesian grandma made. Can't believe I can actually taste my childhood flavors once again. The crab noodles were black peppery and on the kinda sweet side, and the crab crawl was good and fresh, I love real crab meat. The pad ka prao beef was so fragrant when it was brought to the table. There was a lot of beef, and it was tender and flavorful. The sweet basily sauce also reminds me of the basily stir-fried clams my grandma used to make. If I wasn't 100% sure, I'd suspect that my 78 years old grandma might have secretly come to Seattle and worked as a chef here. If you like Thai tea or milk tea, try the cha Thai slushy (they can also make it alcoholic if you like). So good! It's sweet enough to hit the spot after biking, but also not too sweet that makes you feel guilty. The mango sago was huge, it tasted as it's look, mango and milk ice cream and perfectly cooked sago, but you might get a few really sour mango cuts lol. The portion was definitely big enough to share with at least one other person. They also have a decent vegan/vegetarian section too. My partner loves the garlicky noodles. Btw, if the owner or restaurant manager could see this, could you please fix the door or apply some lube or something? I noticed that everyone struggled a few seconds when trying to open the door.

Gao Lhao is one of those restaurants that seems to be misunderstood because it's owned by the same…read morepeople behind Kin Lin. Since they share some dishes, many people expect the same food and end up viewing Gao Lhao as a lower-end version of Kin Lin. I don't think that's a fair comparison. The restaurant is inspired by Yaowarat--Bangkok's Chinatown--so the menu leans toward egg noodle soups, wontons, fish balls, BBQ pork, and other Chinese-influenced Thai dishes. Isarn Thai, also from the same group, takes a similar approach with food inspired by Northern Thailand. These restaurants are meant to have different identities, not simply replicate Kin Lin. I ordered the BBQ Pork, Wonton & Fishballs "Gao Lhao Moo Dang." The portion was satisfying, but the broth and overall dish were a bit sweeter than I prefer. It also took about 20 minutes to come out. In Yaowarat, a dish like this would typically be prepared much faster--closer to 10 minutes--especially from a busy noodle stall. My biggest criticism is that the vibe and decor don't fully match the Yaowarat concept. I think the restaurant would have been much more compelling if the kitchen had been designed like open vendor stalls, where guests could watch the food being prepared and receive it fresh and quickly. That would have made the Chinatown street-food inspiration feel much more authentic. I may be a little harsher in my critique because the concept has a lot of potential, but it's still difficult to find good Thai restaurants in Seattle. Gao Lhao is not simply a lesser Kin Lin--it's a different style of Thai food that deserves to be judged on its own terms.

The Tokyo Ganso is a symphony of delicious ingredients all dancing to the same tasty beat. The Parmesan, the poached egg (which was perfect btw), the liquid base and vinegar make this lovely sauce that pairs beautifully with the diced pork chashu. The dish feels jumbo sized, the thicker noodles were so so good, and there's plenty of chashu pieces. We loved it, it's insanely unique, a must try! The Shoyu based beef Aburasoba was also a knock out, slightly more delicate flavors but all working in harmony. The beef slices were super tender, they melted in my chopsticks. The soft boiled egg was still slightly runny yumm. The noodles were thinner than the Tokyo Aburasoba but just as fresh with a nice chew. I also highly recommend it, especially if you want a more classic style flavor. We ordered to go and the service was wonderful.
