Got seated very quickly outside on a perfect summer night! We ordered the smashburger and the el guapo sandwich, as well as the waffle fries and the sweet potato tots. The smashburger was delicious but the bread was a lot and the burger patties were rather thick for being a smashburger. The sandwich was also decent - everything was on top of a pita. It was a bit dry but otherwise flavorful. The waffle fries and the tots were by the far the best part though. Would come back to check out the rest of the menu! read more

Food was mid, it was bland but it at least came out hot. They messed up the order even though there were only two other tables and the place was empty. They also charged us for their mistake: we ordered one side and they came out with another, and we let them know what we had ordered and our waiter took the wrong order back and replaced it with the correct one, but they charged us for both. Our waiter only checked on us twice and then we watched him sitting outside with other staff and no one checked on our table after that. We had to go to the front to get our check. Typically when waitstaff are pulled away another server will come to the table to take over, but that didn't happen. Especially considering how dead it was inside, it was surprising that we were left without service. Not the best experience, won't be returning (also very brave to have banh mi on the menu but spell it incorrectly). read more

I was extremely disappointed by my experience at Kook Dogg Cafe. Upon arriving with my fully trained service dog, I was told dogs weren't allowed--even after I explained he's a service animal protected under the ADA. Manager then rudely asked what my dog is for, which is both inappropriate and illegal. This restaurant definitely exemplifies lack of awareness and respect towards its patrons. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place out since it opened recently. The staff was polite and hustled. The restaurant had a strong music mix playing some throwbacks hits. First off, this location is cursed. This is the third restaurant to grace this location if you weren't aware. When Kook Dogg was first announced via social media, there were thoughts... some questioned the name, "Cook Dog, didn't they think this out?" While I immediately thought of competition... Lost Dog Cafe. And I tell you what, I've been to this establishment three times during this opening week and those with me on two occasions compared it to none other than "Lost Dog Cafe", a large menu of oven cooked sandwiches and pizzas. Right on par with Lost Dog, I'm not going to deny the similarities. So, considering there is no Lost Dog in Reston, here we have Kook Dogg Cafe. The apps: The sticky icky ribs were tasty right off the bat but the meat was a bit dry. I'd smash again, maybe. Shrimp and Blue Crab Ballitos: this isn't really for sharing and it was a complete mess to try and share, it's basically three small crab cakes and I mean small, floating in a pond of sauce and oil all around an island of corn relish. I would recommend this as more of an entree if they could actually make these things crab cake size. It was tasty AF but a mess. I wouldn't order again. Chesapeake Crab Dip. Average. But it's hard to mess this up. The garlic bread was solid, light and do believe made from their rustic sub roll. Recommend. Salad: Greek salad with garlic grilled chicken added. I didn't even touch the dressing. It's nice to crush a salad so good and well portioned out that you don't need to dressing. Oh and they sliced the cherry tomatoes. There is nothing worse than ordering a salad and then having to clock in and cut that thang up. Shoot what else did I try? Sandwiches: El Gordito: I mean I swear Lost Dog Cafe has the same sandwich on their menu. It took me back to living in Arlington. A bit too much cheese and not enough chicken though. Italian Beef: I bet they added this because of The Bear and you know what, that's why I ordered it. Never had an Italian Beef. Smart move on my part, or is that on their part? Whatever. Their rustic sub roll is fantastic. This sandwich slammed, I was also on to my second beer but the sandwich was fantastic. Sides: $7.50 Onion Rings. You know what... for $7.50 I expected Tempura Style onion rings and these were almost as bad as Burger King onion rings. They should just not offer these. Less than enjoyable. Skip. Waffle fries, seasoned. Ok. These were not nearly as terrible as the $7.50 Onion Rings. Skip the rings, get the fries. Pizza: Ok, are you still with me? I tried: South Philly. I've never had a garlic butter based pizza sauce before so I was open minded and wasn't disappointed. Papa Smurf. it's a bbq chicken pizza so what could go wrong? it was excellent. Classic Margarita. basic and ok and popular from what I heard from on. The server. Overall the pizzas were all tasty but the crust just lacks that next level approach that would help this place stand out more. It's basic and chewy pizza dough. So, the interior is the same as the last place with maybe some paint here and there and a new mural. Tables are all the same, again. They left a little beast on the outside of the building for some reason. It's kinda cute. At least these guys are going to have regular hours. Little Beast had weird hours and was closed like every Tuesday. And the Famous Toastery had bad hours and closed at 3pm. So, I'll give Kook Dogg five stars for the hours alone and I do hope they work out the kinks and stay in the neighborhood for many years. I look forward the trying more sandwiches and salads. I really think you should give them a try and I hope Lost Dog Cafe doesn't sue them. And no, there is no dog meat on the menu. I would know. read more

We have eaten here several times and the sandwiches are very good. The staff is attentive and friendly. I personally would skip on the dessert Kooky Monstr oven toasted salty tahini chocolate chip cookie for $9.95. It is bland and just a basic small chocolate chip cookie (like pillsbury cookies) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All the sauces seemed odd for the portion and style dessert, maybe if it was cake-like, but not for a basic cookie. Overall a great place to eat, and I think they are still working on the desserts on what to offer. read more

Great food and great service!! They had a decent amount of outdoor seating and it was such a cute lunch spot. Yesterday was our first time trying and the menu has so much variety! There were so many things I wanted to try, I was struggling to decide. Elizabeth, our server, was so attentive and helpful and took her time to answer my endless questions ab different items on the menu. Eventually, she helped me decide what to get and it was delicious. This is an excellent new restaurant in RTC West, and my wife and I decided to give it a try. We both ordered pizzas (mine was 4-cheese, hers was the figgy-piggy) and they were fantastic! What a kool place! Food was excellent-we got fried zucchini (from local farmers market), figgy piggy pizza (best combo of sweet and savory flavors), goat cheese salad, amazing beer (hazy IPA from the Veil, our favorite brewery in Richmond)) and cocktails (dirty martini with freshly stuffed blue cheese olives) and a blackberry sparkling cocktail (fruity but not too sweet very interesting flavors). Excellent service from multiple friendly staff who really care about the customer's experience. The sandwich menu was tempting but we went with pizza so we will definitely be back to try more! read more

I had a great experience at Kook Dog. Although everything didn't go perfectly smoothly, the staff and management handled the issue amazingly, not just resolving it, but taking responsibility for it and resolving it quickly. Once that issue was resolved, I have to say everything was quite good. The Tomato Red Pepper soup is good enough that I will probably go back there just for that. The sticky ribs were delicious, and the rigatoni pasta great. In addition the drinks were quite good, both the spicy margarita and the golden pineapple. We will 100% be back. read more

I've eaten at Kook Dog Cafe 3 times find their food second rate at best. Most dishes are bland. Some taste strange. I'm a vegetarian and the offerings for me are limited, but my friends who have ordered non-vegetarian dishes feel the same about the food they've had there. Also, when you order a sandwich, and think you'll get a side of chips or pickles, you won't - unless you pay. A pickle is 75 cents and chips are around $2.00. I'll only go again because they offer trivia on Wednesdays and I like getting together with my friends for that. If it weren't for trivia, I would not return. read more

We are now big fans of Kook Dog Tied their sticky ribs last night on a bed of yummy coleslaw it had a soy base it was outstanding I had the Spinach goat cheese salads with mixed green lots of goats cheese roasted nuts dried cranberries was delicious and very filling you can a meat to it my husband had the steak and cheese yum.
