I took a couple of wrong turns before finally locating this restaurant, but it we well worth driving around on E. Note: look for the Korean supermarket from the street, the restaurant is on the other side of the store. Like the other Korean restaurants, you get little plates of appetizers with your food. But the part that sets the appetizers they give you here from the others, is that they give you about 5 times as many as other restaurants. Our waitress had to bring out a separate tray full of these little dishes to our table. My boyfriend and I even laughed at how many there were and they were all very delicious. The thing that surprised me about this place is that my boyfriend ordered the Gal Bi and most Korean BBQ places cook and serve part of the meat that contain a lot of fat and connective tissue which leaves you with almost no tender meat to enjoy. But this place served real meat. So instead of eating part animal fat and little meat, this place serves very high quality meat. This was also true for the chicken i got. But don't get me wrong, although there was no fat on the meat itself, it took no succulent flavor away from the meats. The service is quick and friendly and we were both starving so we were glad that it didn't take long for our food to arrive after we ordered it. So the Gal Bi and whatever the BBQ chicken is called are both very good. We also had #19, a Korean pizza, a white washed Asian as myself would call it, that was really very good. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this place, i enjoyed everything about it, but it doesn't deserve a 5 star only because i feel it's missing something. I been here many times with my coworkers for lunch. The food was always good and service was mostly good. I tried the BBQ chicken, beef rib soup, cold noodle, spicy shredded beef soup, and bean paste soup. It's my fav spot for Korean food in the area. I would've gave this place 5 stars! I came here for lunch with a coworker last week, and everything was horrible. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for the food to come, and services was lacking. When the food finally came, the BBQ chicken tasted bland like it was not marinaded at all. There wasn't enough meat in the beef rib soup. I don't know what happened that day, but everything was off! Maybe, sometime later, I may come back again. But with last week's experience fresh in my mind, I couldn't justify it to myself to come back yet. Very small location! AND hard to find! We went up and down the street before realizing it was in a shopping center masked away behind a taqueria.We came here as a group and lets just say we had to squeeze our way into our seats. The service was ok. We had to ask the waiter for more side dishes where as some places just replensish once they see you are low. The waiter hardly came around to check up on us and since they didnt really walk around we had to wait for more drinks and side dishes. Food was good. We ordered the short ribs which were so tender and marinated really well! What i liked about the meat is that they cut the meat into bite size pieces! Whereas some places are super big! Plus the meat comes out on a sizzling plate. The side dishes ranged from pickled cucumber, potatos, little fishes with sweet peppers, dikon radish, friend tofu, kim chee. I enjoy spicy so what disappointed was that the side dishes were not that spicy! You're typical korean restaurant, with lots of side dishes, sizzling hot meat dishes and everything inbetween. Everything I've tried here has be delicious! It's surprising to find such great korean food in an area like..well this. So I definitely don't take it for granted. This place and Korea house down the street. Minus one star for small seating area, it can get crowded at dinner time. And the price is a bit steep but then again all korean places are pricier then your average asian places. read more

This place is super hard to find! It's tucked away in the back of a much larger shopping complex with absurd street numbering... and yet, it's all so worth it! Came here for a business lunch with a co worker and it did not dissapoint! The bbq pork lunch special was quite delicious, and I was definitely excited that it came with a whole range of side dishes! Not all korean bbq places in this area give u all the side dishes when you order a lunch special, so it's a definite plus. What stops this place from being 5 star then you ask? For me, it's two things. One, the meat itself was a little...pasty. Aka too chopped up and marinated for any pork flavor to come through. The other issue is the bi bim bap. While I'm sure im just arrogant of true Korean cusine, most of my experience tells me bi bim bap is a screaming hot dish served in a hot stone pot. Apparently here there are two variations, one that is not super hot and served in just a bowl, and the other (of my dreams). The lunch special one is NOT the screaming hot one. The side dishes were good, but not great. All in all this place is a solid lunchtime joint for Korean bbq. And no, you can't grill your own meat here. Love the owners, they are so nice and friendly, they make you feel really welcomed. We were craving some comfort Korean food since it was so cold that night. I wanted some authentic jigae and this was a great place for that. The banchan here is amazing, you get these great options that you don't normally expect like the cold egg omelet. I love all the different options. Bf ordered the BBQ short ribs (galbi), the meat was a bit tender and I usually prefer bone on, but the flavor was spot on, perfect balance of sweet and salty. I had the bean paste stew, it arrived still boiling and was perfect for a cold night. The prices are a bit higher than what I'm normally used to but the portions were good. One of my favorite restaurants in concord area. The foods are delicious! They also have a wide array of banchan, around 10-12 for each table even during lunchtime! The service is good here! But they can be really busy during dinnertime in the weekend. read more

Pretty good Korean restaurant in the East Bay. Great flavored meats, unlimited sides. But you have to ask for refills. The sides were fantastic. Be advised the unlimited sides are included in the price of the meal, but the rice is not unlimited, a refill will cost you $1.50. The place could be dressed up a little more. So one less star for being a hole in the wall. Fresh texture on the walls and paint would do a world of good. read more

Delicious Korean spot in Concord! Came here on Valentines day after going to two other restaurants that had a two hour wait but were able to get seated quickly. Their side dishes were really good too and had a few that Ive never seen at other places which was great. I'd say the average spent for two people around $35-$40 for a meat plate, two appetizers. We tried the potstickers, bugolgi, and chicken fried rice. The fried rice was soooo bomb! But felt like a smaller portion maybe suited for two people but Id expect it to serve like 3-4 people for it's price. Overall great place in Concord if you want authentic Korean food, the servers are also very kind here! read more

We were there for a long time before he took any kind of order, but possibly it's a cultural thing. We didn't get any free lettuce, or eggs, but we were given the rice water with our check. Very good food! i think they are under new ownership and they've increased their wait staff. There were three waitresses working last night and service was always provided with smiles. It was nice to see the place busy with almost all the tables occupied. That means the food is moving quickly and therefore fresher than a slow restaurant. read more

Come here almost every month. You know it's decent Korean food when almost Ali the other customers eating there are also Korean. The owners area super nice and friendly. The panchan is fresh and yummy. Have tried a lot of things on their big menu and I'm never disappointed. read more

Unfortunately, this was our first and last time going to this place. First, our server greeted us with a big breath of just-came-back-from-a-smoke-break. It was bad, but we could live with that. What really changed the experience was finding hair in our food. After the first hair we kept going, but after the second and third and fourth strands of hair, we just couldn't stomach it anymore. To add insult to injury, our bill wasn't cheap. To be fair, they did take off one dish from our bill, one of several hairy dishes I showed the server. I tried to show that there was more hair but I got cut off and the server walked away to take off one of the cheaper items on our check. Even if we went back, the only thing I'd think of is how many strands of hair I was eating. I really wanted to like this place, but hair got in the way. read more

Food, as everyone has described, is great. Before you get your main dish (I like the eel a lot, I know it sounds disgusting, but trust me - it's more than worth your while). And as many others have mentioned - the "appetizers" you get before your meal are quite the treat. Solid portions and very competitive with the local market. However - I have to say the service the two times I have gone has been pretty lousy. I practically had to beg for the check both times, and I got hardly a word out of the waitresses both times. This spot continually serves good and very tasty food. After picking up my meds in Costco the other day my wife and I decided to order some takeout food. I ordered the seafood pancake and bulgogi lunch and both are very good. The lady who took my order was super courteous and friendly. Definitely coming back even if it's 32 miles from my place. What a disappointment. Kimchi Chagae only had a few pieces of meat. It is kind of like one thin bacon like slice of pork cut up. The soup is weak. The other two dishes were subpar as well. First impression was family oriented, which for me isn't a bad thing usually. The restaurant definitely caters to larger families and it seemed we were a bit out of place as two Caucasians in this establishment. We were greeted warmly by a waiter and his toddler sister, cute but not professional imo. The menu was difficult to order from (not clear on what your ordering) if you're not familiar with this type of food. The food arrived quickly and temperatures were good. The taste was okay, the meat seemed a bit low quality and the beef portions was a bit small. Water cups ran dry in the middle of dinner and were not refilled. We were given metal chopsticks while every single other person in the restaurant was given wooden chopsticks. I asked why and was given a answer that the regulars got wood and guest got metal. Well, try eating wet greasy slimy food with metal chopsticks... what a joke. Overall my experience was average at best. The food was good enough to not complain but not good enough to return. Oh so yummy banchan heaven (a whopping 14!). The waitresses are really sweet and friendly. My bf and I stick to the marinated beef and short ribs. One time I ventured out and got the "beef combo soup" and was flabbergasted when a bowl of beef tripe with a couple clear noodles came plopping down in front of me. I guess I shouldn't have expected a pho-ish dish but wow, I could only take a few bites. The stomach lining broth smell was cray! But I digress, everything else has been two thumbs up! Me, and my sister came here... and this was our FIRST time trying Korean food. We had a very good experience. The front desk lady was super kind to us, we asked her for advice on what will they prefer for first tryers like ourselves, and she was very great at describing the dishes. The vibe in here is very friendly. They also made the food pretty fast! Me, and my sister were quite surprised. But I have to say the food was AWESOME. We will definitely be coming here again. Had the Bim Bi Bab today. The dish came out cool to luke warm so that was disappointing, but as far as flavor, very delicious. Seems to be very authentic, ALL the diners were Asian, I think 2 diners spoke Mandarin, I'm ABC and the rest sounded Korean. Very surprised at the amount of people dining here in the suburb.
