We could use a noodle soup on this windy night. Seeing a fair review from my Yelp app, husband and I dropped by. As watching when "what our next table mates have ordered" arrived, my husband and I decided to share a seafood noodle bowl and a seafood fried rice platter. The food pricing is reasonably fair for the serving size. Our dinner ( without dessert) costed us only $25 , surprisingly cheap. The taste is relatively okay, based on my observations to the Korean local guests , I could tell that they find it more of homey cooking. Understand of the language barrier but noticed that the wait staff is unfriendly, yes - they were efficient but customers like us who are new to the cuisine deserve a welcoming smile and attention. Oh, I appreciate the yukult drink that was sent home with me which could have given during dining - it definitely will compliment the food. Super tasty and fairly decent prices for lunch & dinner specials. My brother and I wanted a quick bite to eat for dinner before hanging out next door at Bean Squared cafe. We've eaten here several times & it never disappointed. Usually we would come here with a bigger group (usually for our family gatherings) but because of COVID, we haven't come in a while. My brother ordered the #1 special which was the jjajangmyun + tangsooyook (fried beef) combo & I got the #4 special (jjajangmyun + kan poongi). The tangsooyook came with its own sauce which was sort of thick/starchy, sweet, & had some veggies mixed in. It was great as always (that's my brother's favorite entree here). The one I had was basically a fried chicken in sort of a more sweet, tangy, and spicy version of what my brother had (check pics for visual details). Both were excellent. The noodles were excellent, but I gave this review a 4 because their portions have shrunk since my last visit. Still overall, I enjoyed my meal. Would definitely be back for another meal.. probably not for dinner unless it was with a bigger group. read more

A great place to go if you're looking to get some cheap Korean/Chinese food as they have a great lunch and dinner menu special Monday-Friday. My mom and I came here for lunch and each got a dish set for $9.99 each. I got the #1 which comes with jajangmyeon (black-bean sauce noodles), tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), 2 fried mandu (dumplings), and a side salad. My mom got the #3, which comes with the exact same thing as the #1 but with fried rice instead of the tangsuyuk. At the end of the meal they gave us yakult for dessert. Pros: - Affordable - Large portions - Many different options - Quick service - Parking lot behind the restaurant Cons: - Quality isn't exactly the highest. Super disappointed that this place turned us away an hour before closing. This place is a treasure in bayside and the food is the only reason this place isn't getting a one star. We arrived promptly at 8:57pm and we were greeted with eye rolls and scoffs from the server greeting us. She told us the kitchen had done last call despite the restaurant still having a couple tables and another table actually still ordering. Not the best but not the worst. Came here on Saturday night for dinner. The place was pretty empty. We ordered the jam ja myun, the bok ja myun and the braised marinated pork belly. The noodles were par and so was the rice. The soup for the jambong was pretty good though. The pork belly was a disaster and overly drenched in some sauce. It just lacked flavor. The bill was $60. The star ratings on Yelp are all about price/food quality. For the price, I promise you this place is a 5/5. Here's why: The noodles are bomb. The texture and chewy consistencies are perfect. The sauces and broths are exactly what you'd get in Korea... maybe even better? Like, they really nail the "noodle shop in Seoul" feel here. They're not fancy, and they also doesn't serve Banchan. They just serve some really good food. Noodles are 10/10. The spicy seafood noodle/ or tofu soup is a 15/10 if I could give. I have no idea how they make that broth so thick, garlicky, and seafoody but it is so good. I occasionally dream about it. As for the other things like sweet and sour pork, and dumplings, they're solid. They don't blow you away, but they're really good compliments to the rest of the food you'll be eating. *keep in mind, they serve the korean style of sweet and sour pork. For everyone not well versed in Korean food, it's different than the sweet and sour pork you'd normally get at your local King Wok Chinese delivery joint. Don't be taking away no stars from them for that. At 11.95, my tofu seafood soup was stacked with seafood and flavor (and protein). For any keto people, this soup is totally keto friendly. We love this place for its lunch specials. The one I usually get - It comes with 2 fried gyoza, black bean noodle, fried pork, and a small salad. It generally fills us up quite well and super affordable. With so many places increasing their prices just cause of covid trends.. Its hard to come across any good deals anymore. Korean Noodle House is my go-to place for Korean Chinese food. Whenever I get a craving for some jjajjamyun (black bean noodles) and some tang soo yuk (sweet and sour pork/chicken), I usually end up going here. The prices are solid, the portions are good, and the service is quick. If you're in a group, sharing some tang soo yuk while everyone gets a bowl of noodles is usually enough food, though sometimes, one bowl of noodles might be more than enough for one person. If everyone is getting their own thing, it might be better to get the set menu, where you can get noodles, tang soo yuk, and dumplings altogether, so you don't have to order a huge portion for yourself. It's only available Monday to Friday though and doesn't include holidays. As for the food itself, the jjajjamyun is great, not too salty, but definitely full of flavor from the black bean sauce and all of the onions. It's usually too many onions for one person though, so that may be a drawback. However, my favorite part are the noodles as they are silky and smooth, perfect for slurping down quickly. They pair perfectly with the sauce and are easy to chow down on. The tang soo yuk is a great complement to the jjajjamyun, as it is sweet and tangy, which is great for cutting down on the somewhat salty profile that the jjajjamyun gives. The meat is coated with a light batter and the sweet and sour sauce is easily coated on top when dipping the meat or pouring the sauce on top. You'll leave feeling full, but not too heavy at all, as the tang soo yuk is not a heavy treat. Overall, if you're in the area and want some Korean Chinese food, this is a great option for getting the bang for your buck. There's plenty of food and the quality is good too. read more

Next came the #24 .. spicy Korean noodle with only seafood ?!! I refuse to go to any other jajangmyun restaurant. This is THE spot I will go to always. I think the most important dish about a Korean/Chinese restaurant is definitely the jajangmyun (black bean noodles), and this place has it down. The japchae rice is also to die for, filled with so so so much flavor. Unfortunately, it's a trip to get here even if you live in Queens because it's located in Bayside! Despite the various items taunting us, my friend and I stuck with our original plan of eating jajangmyeon jjamppong. We settled on the 3 Set Combo ($17). The bowls they came in were HUGE. But surprisingly, it wasn't that filling to me. The noodles were the highlight as they were soft. The jajangmyeon was kind of bland and the tangsooyuk was mainly batter or pork fat instead of meat. But the meal satisfied! They didn't give Yakult but a popcorn looking treat with corn inside for our free dessert. I used to love and order from here all the time but we will no longer eat food from here. We ordered food for pick up and realized that one noodle was missing for jjam pong when we opened the bag. We took out all the food from the bag and checked three times just in case we missed it. We called them and told them there was no noodle for jjampong and WITHOUT apology, he told us to check again because one of the workers definitely put the noodle. We told him we did check, but he kept saying that there must be a noodle under the tang soo yook. So we told him there was no noodle and he just asked our number for the credit very rudely. His attitude was bothering me so I asked him, "don't you need to trust your customers and apologize first? don't you think customers always check the food first and call in this kind of situation?" and again, without apology, he was like, "then what should I do for you now?" in an annoyed tone. I was like at this point, forget about the food. His attitude made me so mad, I told him it's not right for you to be rude to customers like this. But, he kept lecturing me saying "listen, I said I asked you to check food one more time because my coworker said he definitely remembers that he put the noodle in the bag. why is it a problem?" I just gave up and said forget about the food and I don't need the credit. just treat your customers right next time and hung up. Im baffled by this kind of attitude and behavior. Summary: I don't know how their Health Score is an A. It baffles me. I had to go check this place out because I had heard such raving reviews about this place. But, to each their own. I went in on a Saturday afternoon, for a quick lunch. It was packed (a good sign). So, we were shown to a table towards the back, with a picture frame and a curtain of some sort. No biggie. Service wasn't the best but neither was it terrible. Average. Ambience? Just that of a Korean-Chinese noodle restaurant. Nothing fancy. We ordered a lunch special and the food was okay. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed because this place was so hyped up and the food didn't live up to that. It doesn't stand out in my mind when it comes to noodle dishes. So, that's that. The best part came after the meal. I was actually thankful that the "party" came after I had ingested my meal. But, by party, I mean *drumroll* COCKROACHES. Yes, those indestructible insects. I saw them crawling up the curtains and under the picture frame. It was definitely a sight to see. Marvelous. Once I mentioned it, one of the servers just exclaimed that this was the first time that it was ever mentioned. Their jjajangmyeon is so good!! I came here at around 1 pm on a Thursday afternoon, and it did not disappoint. The noodles were delicious, soft and so warm and everything looked amazing. The waitresses were very friendly and the food was super good. I'm definitely going to bring my mother here one day. It's a very casual restaurant, but a quick tip, credit is at $20 minimum!! I didn't realize the minimum and when we got the bill, we were short a few dollars. Luckily, one of the waitresses was very understanding, and let us use our card. I came here after reviewing fellow yelper "Lorraine D's" review. The food is really good and prices are fairly reasonable for the amount of food that is presented to you. I did notice the English was limited on the wait staff, but pointing at the menu item always works well. We ordered the following Korean delicacies: * Jam Ja Myun - which is served in a bowl that is separated by a partition creating 2 omlette shaped pockets. one side was filled with a delicious savory black bean noodles and the other pocket spicy seafood noodle soup. * Chicken fried rice - Moist and delicious * Kan Poon Gi - Boneless fried chicken pieces, served with garlic pepper sauce. You can ask for the sauce to be already mixed in or served separately. * Samsun Jam Pong - Spicy noodle with seafood - The bowl came with a huge octopus sitting on top of the bowl. The broth was delicious and the staff immediately cut the octopus down to bite size pieces which I might add was very tender. The BanChan's were a bit of a disappointment in terms of variety, only 3 varieties of banchan's were served. Kim chi, danmuji and onions, but I never judge a Korean restaurant too harshly for lack of banchans since they are complimentary side dishes. At the end of your meal, they serve everyone a small bottle of yogurt milk, cold and refreshing to cleanse the palette. Overall the restaurant is solid! Like I said earlier reasonably priced for the amount of food they serve you. I did notice all the postings on the wall were written in Korean, I guess I could have asked the staff "What does that say?" It would have been nice if they could have posted another version in English next to it. The staff could have smiled and been a little bit more cordial. I mean c'mon guys, you are in the food service industry. Customers like myself feel more welcomed as your guest when you do. You also get better tips with a simple smile, crack a smile, it won't hurt. I definitely would come back because the food is quite good, I just hope the overall service improves in my next visit, this way I can bump up the review with an extra star. So, this is kinda a new thing for me, it's Chinese food with a Korean twist. I never even heard of this, but there are apparently a few restaurants in the Flushing/Bayside area that serve this type of food. I have been here a few times, but I have only really ordered three things. The food: Half noodle w/ chop suey soup, half noodle with black bean sauce- this dish completely confused me since it's two different noodle dishes served in the same bowl? The chop suey is kinda like a seafood noodle soup in a shellfish broth. The noodles and the broth are very nice but the seafood was less than amazing. The seafood was clearly from the frozen variety. The other half was the jja jja myun. I think the version here is really good. The noodles have a nice chew and the sauce has nice flavor. Outdoor dining is available in the back parking area (along with indoor dining). The outdoor setup is very pojangmacha with foldable plastic chairs and tables and that brown straw-ish looking exterior covering which keeps out wind but allows for ventilation. Paper menus, disposable utensils and hand sanitizers at every table. Service was not at the usual level, not due to the fault of the wait staff but just seemed like they were just short handed at the time. It took a bit to get a menu and there were a couple of occasions where they forgot what we ordered. We didn't bother asking for a high chair since they were clearly busy but that worked out great since our kiddo loved getting to sit in a big person chair. The ja jang myun was decent but the tang soo yuk was better, it had the kind of outer batter with lots of tiny fried bubbles all over which kept it super crispy even when dipped in sauce. The not too sweet but sweet enough sauce came on the side in a gravy boat, which I loved since I'm a dipper (not a pour over-er!). The moment we entered the restaurant, the owner and a server did not even care to look and did not say anything like "hello/welcome". So we cared to say "is there a table for three?". Then owner said a word with unwelcoming manner. Honestly this was second consecutive times with such an uncomfortable service attitude by the owner. Tried couple things from the menu and it was alright. The jajangmyun and jampong tasted alright. I personally dont like the heavy coating of the fried meats because it is really chewy and not crispy (but that tends to be the way that restaurants batter their meats). The main problem I have with this place is that it is definitely dirty in the kitchen. The cup that they gave me for water had dirty stuff stuck on the side of the cup and it was nasty. read more
