The restaurant is a rip-off. I rarely leave restaurant reviews, but this appears to be one of the bad ones. We explained that this was our first time ordering from this restaurant and that we were not sure how to proceed. They were impatient and did not explain everything to us, so we felt rushed to place our order. We opted for the wood-fired barbecue with grilled meat, but you must order at least two items. We ordered the firewood prime beef short ribs ($69.99) and the barbecue pork ($47.99). You'd expect a lot of meat for that price. We only got two thin slices of beef short ribs and two slices of seasoned barbecue pork. When I mentioned it to the server, he said it was just the way things were. If we want more meat, we can order it and pay more. For $118, all we get is four thin slices of meat, ridiculous! This is not even enough for two people. They should include it on the menu, with only two thin slices per order, so customers can see what they ordered. Aside from that, the side dish they served was quite small and not much at all. The onion and tofu salads were the only ones that were good portions. We know eating out is more expensive now, but $118 for four thin slices of meat is simply not worth it. When you want to support a small family business but get ripped off.

It's better to simply go to AYCE Korean BBQ and get your money's worth. This restaurant isn't worth your money.

Great Korean bbq! They use charcoal to cook the food at the table! Great service and all the banchan were so yummy! Overall a great restaurant. I'd go here if I'm in the mood for charcoal bbq and too lazy to go to Brothers in SF!

I have always heard of Korean Spring BBQ and my good friend who swears by this as being the "best Kalbi in the area" took us here. We came for lunch on a Saturday and the parking lot in this strip mall is already small and crowded for supporting all these popular restaurants like ToBang, Kunjip, 7-11, etc. So, come early to get a spot and also to be first in line at the restaurant. The interior is modern and simplistic with hood fans for each grilling table. For dine in, you have a choice of bbq grilling meats or non-bbq grilling and just ordering off the menu. You can still order the grilled meats but they will prepare it in the kitchen and bring out the cooked orders. Since most of us have never been here before, my friend, said he'd order for us. The two salads that came with our entree were a Tofu Mixed Green Salad and a Shaved Red Onion Salad. Both were delicious and had a nice dressing on each. The tofu salad was so tasty I couldn't stop eating it! I had to make sure I had room for the main entree. The banchans were Napa cabbage kimchi, a konjac noodle with mayo, spinach with crumbled tofu, and a pickled spicy slivered squid. They set up the charcoal grill and cook the raw meat for you, so you can eat and enjoy the dish hot off the grill.

Both the short ribs and Wagyu steak were extremely tender and the side seasonings paired well. I called a few days in advance to reserve a wood fire table which I recommend as you might have to wait a long time on a Saturday night.

and marbled that made the meat juicy and tender. It was such a treat to eat the freshly grilled shortrib with rice, miso paste, salt & sesame oil, and anything else you wanted to wrap up in the fresh lettuce leaves. There is a decent amount of parking here but it can get busy. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The interior was spacious and there was plenty of space on the table. This spot uses a charcoal grill to cook its meat. My favorite meat was the short rib because of the flavor and how tender it was. The Wagyu meat was enjoyable but nothing mind blowing. The sides were decent. The bibimbap there was the best I have tried. I liked how the vegetables weren't chopped up into tiny pieces and were more whole. The soups were tasty as well.

Lovely experience having their charcoal kbbq! The staff grill for you. The vibes felt very authentic because the sides were really good and it's in the plaza with other very legit Korean restaurants hahaha. No wait when my party of 6 around at noon on a Saturday. We got the marinated galbi, unmarinated galbi, a regular naengmyeon, a bibim naengmyeon, and a seafood pancake. We were all stuffed! My favorite items were the unmarinated prime rib, bibim naengmyeon, and tofu salad side. It came out to about $55 per person after tax and tip.

You ever have a place you love so much you almost want to not tell people about so it won't get too mobbed? Well I would never gatekeep. Spring BBQ is a Santa Clara institution that's been around for decades, although it's changed hands at least once. The current family that runs it has definitely elevated it to a level up from traditional Korean bbq. Servers grill your food in front of you, just like at that exceptionally buzzy LA transplant. They use usda prime beef, a step up from the usda choice beef other places use. And for me, most importantly, they use real wood charcoal. As far as I'm aware, there's only two Korean bbq places in the area that still grill using wood charcoal, and the other one, located in Moonlite Center, might not last much longer as that area gets redeveloped. There's something about cooking over wood that gives the meat a special, smoky flavor that really stands out, and thankfully the hood vents over each table are strong - I feel like we don't really smell smoky when we leave. Plenty of delicious Korean side dishes complement the meal. My wife regularly gets the bi bim bap and says it's great, but for me and my daughters we are all about the marinated kalbi - beef short rib. Here they trim the meat around the bone so you get perfectly grilled, juicy pieces of meat with no bones to fuss with - and they grill the bones separately at the end if you want the last bits to enjoy or bring home for cooking something. They also have a special for wagyu that is super delicious and feels like a good value considering the price of meat these days. The atmosphere is casual and laid back and parking can be a little challenging on weekend nights. But I can't recommend this place enough. It's a South Bay gem and our family's go-to Korean bbq spot.

For Korean BBQ using charcoal, Korean Spring is very good! This place started getting popular again on social media and tbh, I've been here twice in a span of a few months. If that isn't telling, idk what is. The Seafood pancake and Yuk Gae Jang are pretty good accompaniments to bbq. The charcoal really does make a difference and the meat quality is good. The short rib and brisket has great flavor and is so tender! If you order the set it comes with a soup and salad which is also a solid choice. Service has been good every time, they do cook for you here, just FYI. Attentive, but not overly where you can't enjoy your meal. The servers have also given good recommendations on items too. Also wanted to mention, they don't have flavored sojus here. Good quality bbq using charcoal without a huge price tag! Def recommend this place.

4.5 STARS Social media loves 10 Butchers. The Korean OGs? They love Korean Spring BBQ! Korean Spring BBQ opened in the 80s and they're the first wooden charcoal KBBQ resto to open in the bay. I don't know when but they had a change of ownership at one point. Don't let the 3.5 star [overall] rating scurrrr you. Nobody is slamming ribs on the pavement. TBH, the mixed reviews is what kept me away for years until a Korean influencer raved about the Bibim Naengmyeon: Spicy cold noodles (not a collab). Yup, it's the best Bibim Naengmyeon I've had in Santa Clara's K-Town but I had to revisit for their KBBQ. Two dining areas: KBBQ or regular dining (cooked bbq items available). For KBBQ, minimum two orders. Staff cooks for you. From 9 pm-Midnight, they have a $200 special that includes 4 meats, seolleongtang (beef bone soup), corn cheese, gyeran-jjim (steamed egg), soju, beer, and soda. F O O D * Banchan: Kimchi, spinach, radish, and mac salad Too limited selection. Kimchi is the highlight, crunchy, tangy, and mildly spicy. * Yuk Hwe: Raw Beef w/ Asian pear, raw yolk ($27.99): https://tinyurl.com/4r7ahpa7 Great savory sweet flavor with a mild nutty taste but the beef was a bit icy. Overall, while Korean Spring BBQ is not 5 star perfect (ehhh banchan and regular priced KBBQ meats are $$$$), the charcoal BBQ, naengmyeon year round, and lunch specials with humble vibes will keep me coming back!

Our group of 7 visited on a Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. We didn't order kbbq so they mentioned that we would have to be splits between two different tables bc they couldn't be rearranged. The waitstaff was very quick and the food came out very fast after ordering. The mul naeng myeon was tasty and didn't come with any vinegar already added so we had to add it ourselves (which is nice bc then you can control how it tastes). My one complaint is that I didn't like the thin noodles since it isn't as chewy. The ddeok bokki was chewy, spicy, and came with a good portion of rice cakes and fish cake. The dolsot bibimbap was normal and hits all the right spots. Overall a decent place to get lunch especially if Kunjip is too busy.

The intial service on a Sunday at 1:30pm was a bit slow. There were a few other tables to serve but it wasnt a full house. This place is very clean and kept neat and tidy. Once we were seated, we noticed the table was quite wide so it was a bit difficult to have a conversation in deciding what to eat. We (2 people) ended up sitting next to each other on the same side. The menu is quite big and prices are a bit pricey at first glance. It took a little bit for someone to come take our order, but once that happened, everything was so much faster and streamlined. The meats were tasty and cooked perfectly. They cook the meats for you so you can focus on chatting with your friends, eating or drinking. The ban chan selections were a little bit more limited, but I liked that they gave free tofu soup. The wood charcoal definitely imparted a nice flavour. Overall, pretty good and I would come back.

Korean Spring BBQ was amazing! Tons of banchan, tender wagyu beef, fresh salad, and comforting soup. The staff grilled everything for us, and service was excellent. No corkage fee, which is a nice bonus. Sorry...it might break your bank (I didn't pay the bill, so it was totally worth it haha).

Loved the food for sure, it was great. Had the Waygu special they had there and it was good meat, thick and good lol. I like that the waiters help cook the food there, normally I've been to Korean BBQ where you cook your own; so very first time for me to experience this. I also like where the restaurant is too, because a after having some BBQ my friends and I went to the Bobo Pup place hehe that was fun. And yes for the Korean BBQ place, I recommend to try It out if you haven't gone yet. It's worth the trip!

One of the yummiest KBBQs I've ever tried in the Bay Area! And it's charcoal grilled! The restaurant is conveniently located in the same strip mall as Tobang and Boba Pup. Plenty of parkings! We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and there was no line. The staff greeted us upon entrance and quickly led us to our table. The inside looked neat and clean with shiny and spacious metal tables. We were recommended by our server to pick 2 meats (minimum). We have our eyes on the specially priced Wagyu thus we ordered that one, plus Galbi meat and a seafood pancake. Our side dishes came out first with refreshing salad (with soft tofu) and various types of regular Korean side dishes. We especially enjoyed the red bean side dish! It's savory, salty and just simply delicious! One of the side dishes was a tofu soup in a stone bowl which was equally tasty. Our meat came out raw and our server grilled and cut them into smaller pieces right there on top of the charcoal stove for us! I love the sizzling sounds of fat droplets hitting the burning charcoal! The meat smelled heavenly and we all drooled waiting for the meats ! It's a bit pricey but we understand why it's pricey now! The meat quality is so top notch! We savored every bite and enjoyed our dinner so much! The seafood pancake didn't disappoint either! It was flavorful and fresh with generous amount of seafood. Our server was attentive and refilled our water and side dishes without us asking, which is a plus for me! Overall, 12/10! Check it out!

My favorite KBBQ place in the south bay! The charcoal grill is the best and adds more flavor. They cook the food for you and it always comes out perfectly. It's a bit pricy (since you have to order 2 meats minimum) and usually comes out to about $60 a person. The parking lots also gets full during lunch and dinner, so highly recommend coming early when they first open.

Charcoal grill was great, but can get pricey. There is a minimum of two orders of meat and of course comes with ban chan and a complimentary kimchi stew. The severs cook for you and they cooked our meat to perfection and refilled the ban chan. The restaurant has two sides, one for the charcoal grill and the side for kitchen made dishes. Definitely coming back to try more of the traditional Korean dishes!

Update: tried the bbq and it was fire. We got the wagyu ribeye which is huge as well as the Kalbi which were both really good quality and cooked perfectly. However also learned that their banchan rotates regularly depending on what ingredients are available.

This has become my go-to spot for lunch. I think it has recently changed ownership as I had been a few times back in 2010-2011 and then stopped, but seemed different (but better!) when I went back last year. There is a cute outdoor dining setup, great selection of lunch specials at very reasonable prices, most are only 10.99 and a few are 14.99 My favorites are their Gam Ja Tang (Pork Neck and potato stew) with a nice savory sesame broth, and Galbi Yukyejang (Spicy Clear Noodle Soup with Beef Short Rib) which is hard to find but has a tasty spicy broth with generous juicy tender pieces of short rib. The side dishes are really good too and they are happy to give you extras if they run out! Most of the time they serve four for lunch but they vary each time. The kimchi and seaweed are always nice and once they had a beef based side which was really good. read more

The quality and atmosphere of this restaurant does not match the prices at all. Okay BBQ but incredibly expensive ($60 or $80 after tax for a few slices of Kalbi--enough to feed 1 person). Seafood pancake was doused in oil and barely had any pieces of seafood in it. Kimchi and other side dishes lacked flavor and depth. I recommend visiting 10 Butchers instead (short drive away, similar prices but worth it for the significantly higher quality of the food, better ambiance, and more attentive service). read more

Came here at 8:30 PM on Saturday (30 mins before closing) and they told us they we're too late for barbecue, and that we can only order from the non-barbecue menu. I was disappointed because that's the only reason we went, so ended up going to Tobang instead. Just wanted to warn folks so you don't make the same mistake! read more

The Korean Spring Barbecue is undoubtedly the most authentic KBBQ I've ever had in the Bay Area. Every bite of the meat is succulent and of high quality, and it pairs perfectly with the delicious side dishes to create a balanced meal. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, especially if you're new to Korean barbecue, and they are always happy to answer any questions you may have. They will even cook the meat to your liking. The lively atmosphere is ideal for a relaxed Friday night dinner with friends. Highly recommended by my Korean colleagues. Drop in for a quick lunch. It is good We ordered spicy short ribs (soup), bbq short ribs and pan fried Oyster. The soup is a bit too hot for my taste but the meat is cooked to perfection. The bbq smell and taste so good that we didn't even stop to take a picture...lol. The most amazing dish is the pan fried oyster, very rare dish. I think this is the first time I order this in Bay Area. It is all good. I mean crispy outside and tender inside. We had 3 orders of Koreana bbq enough for 4 of us. Extra dishes of bean paste soup was included. Price was reasonable but quality of meat was less than our expectations. Tough to chew. Mostly concerned about the level of noise, so loud enough to bother our enjoyment of the food. And the smell, stayed with me until the next day. read more

With quality cut meat. I have been to this spot prob more than 3 times now and it's my go to for when I crave KBBQ. We also took out of towners here when they were visiting and wanting to eat some food KBBQ. We have been to other spots including the bougie one in Santa Clara that's not charcoal but due to instagramability (fancier side dishes) 30-50% higher in price than spring. We think the meat quality is pretty much almost the same if not on par and in fact the charcoal adds more flavor. Who goes to KBBQ for side dishes and bap? Clueless folks do. You go to KBBBQ for the meat - short rib and other best cuts - and some lettuce/veggie/sauces. Service is attentive, super reasonable (they're actually super accommodating if you ask for certain things like extra lettuce or salad) and efficient. I appreciate the servers for cooking the meat for me. If you order B1 or B2, they'll get all the small meat bits around the bone too and cook those for you (a bit texture tendon type but still good) to get max meat out of your cut. So thoughtful not wasting food. Vibe is good and active on weekend dinner nights. Don't expect the Instagram vibes once again, this spot is a traditional KBBQ spot, might give some authentic KDrama/Korean dining vibes too. In A Nutshell: -Korean Spring BBQ is just an okay Korean restaurant. -That one lady working by herself was hustling hard though. -I probably ate the smallest serving of kimchi jjigae in the world. -Seriously if I tossed an egg in it (which it didn't come with), the egg would have covered the entire top of the bowl. First time having korean bbq and everything was outstanding. Galbi is the best meat on the menu and they cook it up right in front of you. We had light beer and soju. The soju is a must try for first timers if you enjoy something with a little higher abv. They cook it on charcoal grill so wear clothes you don't mind getting smokey smell on them. Great flavors, value, service. Our party of three were seated at 1:00pm and we ordered three lunch specials. The first was Naengmyeon (cold noodles) with L.A. galbi (short ribs). The cold noodle soup was icy cold and full of flavor. The L.A., galbi was very hot and meaty. The portions were very generous. The second dish was a spicy stir-fried squid dish. I'm not a fan of squid but this was pretty tasty and I enjoyed all of the textures in the dish. Our banchan wasn't the most exciting but the portions were big and we didn't ask for refills. We were served two bowls of rice, and a complimentary radish soup. The radish soup was a perfect starter. There's also a self-serve station with a cold sweet drink that is usually drank after a meal. Korean food is pretty expensive but I was shocked that we were satisfied with paying so little. The best part is that they closed at 2:00 but weren't pushy to their customers urging them to leave. Three tables stayed past 2:00 and the staff were still so gracious and moved onto their chores for the closing period. read more

Our family's favorite spot to have Korean BBQ! They use prime beef for even marinated galbi! It literally melts in your mouth. Galbi marinate is not too sweet or salty but just a right amount. Servers professionally grill and cut the meats for you and you just have to enjoy the BBQ. My other favorite thing is the stir fried spicy squid. So delicious Thinking about it making me drool. Love their lunch specials- my favorite is the spicy pork. Portion is quite big and they bring a side soup too. Side dish is not anything special, but it is classy korean restaurant style. Every time I am free for extra miles to drive during lunch, this is my go-to spot. I also had bbq at dinner time- their charcoal grill is good but you might find it quite pricy. That's typical in bay area unfortunately- I usually hold that urge for k-bbq and save for my trips to LA. If you really need one, I recommend this one or Hansung BBQ where they use the real charcoal. But prefer this one because the cold noodle is amazing- gotta try the one with kimchi. read more

Instead of going to our usual spot for KBBQ, we decided to try this spot out. For a Sunday evening, it wasn't too busy, so we were seated right away. We started out with three orders of the marinated galbi. They brought out the firey charcoal (LEGIT) and a whole array of banchan (radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, spinach, fish cake, pickled radish slices, etc) and hot tea. Two servers came by frequently to cook the meat on the grill for us. In fact, we didn't have to do anything but eat! It was great! The service was excellent. And the galbi meat was DELICIOUS. The meat was tender and flavorful. The servers brought us red leaf lettuce and rice too and refilled the ssamjang when they saw that we were low. Our meal also came with dwenjang soup which was pretty good and full of tofu. I was stuffed. The servers also came by to change up the grill too. And best of all, they had really good shik-kye (sweet korean rice punch) for dessert. I can't believe I've never eaten here before. I would absolutely come back. The service was the best and the food was really tasty (although the cabbage kimchi wasn't that good) and we didn't have to wait for a table. There are two sides to the restaurant - one half is full of BBQ grill tables and the other half are filled with regular tables for people just ordering a la carte off the menu. This restaurant is located in the busy little shopping plaza at Kiely and Benton, so there are a lot of other popular Korean restaurants here and the parking lot isn't that big. We were lucky to snag a spot on a Sunday night, but I can see it being difficult, so come early! read more

Best Charcoal BBQ in town! If you are feeling overheated during the summer months, head over and order a cold buckwheat noodle soup and add some BBQ spareribs. It hits the spot. And as a Nengmyun expert, the flavors of this restaurant is on par with he best in Korea. The service is excellent as they will bring additional side dishes on request. I almost never post reviews, but this time I had to. - Very overpriced for standard Korean dishes. - Banchan was pretty bland. Kimchi was very underripe. - We ordered naengmyun and galbi combos. The galbi came out first and it was noticeably on the colder side (room temperature) and then thirty minutes passed with no naengmyun. Naengmyun does not take that long to make. We didn't eat the galbi because we were waiting to eat it with the naengmyun that never came. - The manager didn't really have an explanation for why the food was taking so long and asked us to keep waiting. - We ultimately decided to leave. - It would've been much more worth it to wait for Kunjip that's next door. read more

My cousin was craving naengmyun AND Korean bbq so I suggested that we come here instead of the usual Kunjip! I still prefer the mul naengmyun at Kunjip, but this place has a yeolmu naengmyun + kbbq combo that can't be beat! Yeolmu naengmyun is similar to mul naengmyun, but it has yeolmu kimchi in it. It's extremely refreshing on a hot day and the kimchi in the naengmyun is juicy and crunchy. The kalbi is also really great because it comes out precooked on a sizzling plate and stays hot while you're eating. Refreshing noodles and sweet bbq is probably one of the best food combos ever. It's kind of expensive for a lunch, but I think once in a while, it's definitely worth it. If you're hungry for naengmyun and kbbq, this is the place to go! I've also never seen a line here and the new owners seem to be on top of service. read more

Kimchi fried rice was wet, as it was drowned in sauce and oil, barely fried. Chicken wings were also drenched in oil and sauce, and it was soggy, rubbery, and overall terrible. In conclusion, don't waste your time or money here. This was my second time at this establishment, and both times were atrocious.

I've eaten here three times now and every time it was incredibly good. Some of the best food I've ever had. I'm not Korean and I don't usually eat Korean food so I can't speak from experience, but I will say that when I've had Korean food it has not been my favorite. But this has been a completely different experience. Every dish I've had is extremely good. The short ribs were amazing, the seafood and rice bowl was one of the best meals I've ever had. I think I'm making my point clear, I love the food here. Service is great and friendly, busy place so obviously popular. As I mentioned in a previous review I found this place because the owner bought something for me on next-door and when I came to drop it off to him at work he was gracious enough to give me a free meal and that converted me. Came in on a weekday lunch and this place did not disappoint. The lunch special is a great deal -- solid value for what you get. The beef ribeye soup is genuinely outstanding, the kind of dish that keeps you coming back. Service was decently fast for a lunch crowd, no long waits. The restaurant is nicely split -- BBQ on the outside half, dishes served on the inside half, which is a fun setup. Plenty of seating either way so finding a table wasn't an issue. One heads up on parking: the lot is shared with neighboring restaurants so it can get tight. Go early if you can, especially on busier days. Here's the thing -- this is Korean Town. The service was extremely poor. Although each table has a button to request assistance, no one responded even after we pressed it several times. We waited far too long for anyone to come by, and when a server finally appeared, he seemed uninterested and difficult to communicate with. We were not offered water or checked on at any point during the meal. The food itself was also underwhelming. The quality and flavor of the meat were mediocre, and the side dishes lacked freshness. For the price, I expected a much better dining experience. Overall, the lack of attentive service combined with disappointing food made the visit unpleasant. We left as soon as we could. Had an amazing dinner at Wooga Korean BBQ! The quality of the meat really stood out -- the marinated galbi was rich and flavorful, with just the right balance of sweet and savory. The was thick-cut and grilled up super crispy on the outside while staying juicy inside. We also tried the brisket, which was tender and perfect with just a bit of dipping sauce.
