3.5 rounding up to 4. Showed up with no reservation. No one answered the phone when I called either. Quoted around 30-40 min wait. Ended up getting sat within 15 minutes. Two of us ordered Signature A. Essentially only one meat (which was good). Wish there was more variety in the combo. A lot of crab based items (like sides and soup)..allergic so I didn't touch them. Auto 20% suggested as the default. Staff could be a bit more attentive on the sides / drinks. Nice ambiance inside.

FOOD: 4 SERVICE: 4 AMBIANCE: 4 VALUE: 4 With so many choices in Santa Clara, why would you come here? Well, it is the overall quality, of the meats, of the service and the ambiance. We ordered the Signature A set menu for two. This set consisted of: Glass Noodles w/Beef and Mushrooms - really is Japchae, glass noodles stir fried with beef slices, mushrooms and cabbage. A savory, umami dish to start the palate. Selection of Banchan - spring onion pancakes, creamy macaroni, chili crab, cabbage kimchi and seaweed. All very tasty, especially the chili crab (sweet tasting meat). Bibimbap - a full size serving of rice, mixed vegetables, ground beef served in a hot stone bowl with a fried egg on top. My wife who is very picky about bibimbap, said this was very good. Soy Bean Stew - aka beef tofu soup, spicy, hearty and flavorful with tender cubes of beef. Marinated Short Rib - two very good sized rib steak, tender (Wagyu like) and grilled to perfection by the staff. The Signature set really did show off the best of what Chungdam has to offer.

Tried out Chungdam with my husband for dinner- my first impression was "wow". The restaurant had an open feel, felt luxurious. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. I felt like I was in Asia. Everything tasted great. Definitely want to come back.

Wow. It was a 45 minute wait for 3 on a Friday afternoon. We walked in around 11:47. First time coming here and really enjoyed the service. You can also waitlist on Yelp so that's great. They have that call button to ask for anything you need from the server. Wonderful! The food was delicious. Loved the drink and the banchan. The pancake was everyone's favorite. Couldn't believe there was also crab too? The prices were very reasonable. We wanted to try the special but it was sold out. So we will have to come again next time maybe earlier ... Ordered 2 bibimap beef. What a workout to get that crisp rice out from the bottom. That bowl stayed hot for a long time. The seating was wonderful. Didn't know where to sit and just said first available but the hostess and host was very kind. They got us a table with the bbq grill. Those seats are really comfy and were probably better for my parents. Would like to try some bbq next time too. Can't wait to come back

Literally every single side and main dish were delicious in our Combo (A). Came here to celebrate a special occasion and it did not disappoint -- the interior is so clean and the staff are attentive. They had fancy banchan (raw crab, scallion pancakes). The japchae is the best we've had too. It's a lot of food for two people!

Chungdam is conveniently located at the corner right off El Camino Real. You won't miss its bold signage with an all-black background and white text. Another landmark is that it's right next to the Super 8 by Wyndham. Both share the parking lot, so finding a spot can be difficult, but there's street parking available too. RESERVATION/HOST I made a reservation for 3 at 7:30PM on a Saturday evening. I'm glad I planned ahead because, upon entering, there were about 5 parties waiting to be seated. My party was greeted warmly and was quickly seated after my reservation was confirmed. SERVICE Very prompt and professional service. The BBQ meats were cooked consistently, and every request was accommodated. FOOD Chungdam focuses on delivering high-quality meats for your Korean BBQ experience. The banchan was delicious! I was surprised that three spicy raw baby crabs were served. To be honest, it was my first time trying it despite hearing about the hype. It paired pretty well with rice. The dressing and condiments were perfect. I appreciated that salt was provided since we ordered all non-marinade meats. The fermented bean curd dip was my favorite. The seafood pancake we ordered took a bit longer to arrive, but it was delicious and crispy! The seafood was cut into perfect bite-sized pieces, so you get seafood in every bite. -USDA PRIME 차돌박이 100z - Cha-Dol (Beef Brisket, Thinly Sliced) -USDA PRIME 생갈비 16oz - Seng Galbi (Non marinaded Prime short rib) -Seafood Pancake Overall, the Korean food was delicious, and the customer service was excellent. We were even greeted when leaving. They offer kimchi for takeout in jars, available in 16oz and 32oz sizes. I particularly enjoyed the kimchi and had it refilled during dinner, so I decided to buy a 16oz jar to enjoy at home.

Wow this place is incredible!! Definitely one of the top KBBQ places in the bay area. Ambiance: 10/10 very modern, love the elegant light, perfect for a special occasion! Yangnyeom Galbi : 10/10 just such an incredible cut of meat marinated with the most fragrant sweet soy. It was impressively tender and so easy to eat. Jul Mul Luck : 7/10 the meat was marinated really well, but the meat was definitely chewier than the galbi. Still a solid option. Additional notes on food: I can't believe they provide raw marinated crab as a side dish!! Wow it was incredible and such a nice perk that makes this restaurant stand out. They also provided a pumpkin soup appetizer and two slices of leek pancake. Service: 9/10 There was one server who was really on top of cooking our BBQ, but there was another server who didn't bring us our included complimentary soybean stew with our two orders of meat, even after we asked. I was disappointed.

5 stars. Although on the pricey side, the taste and quality of everything is really good. My friend and I frequently come for their lunch special menu, which has a variety of classic Korean entrees and some basic kbbq meats. We typically always like getting the raw beef bimbimbap or cold noodle, and then also ordering a beef tartar. Their raw beef feels extremely fresh and the flavor is always good. The service here is pretty top notch, if you're sharing, the workers will help portion out the food for you. The sides are also top tier. Raw marinated crab as a banchan is insane value. Everything is definitely well seasoned. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out despite needing to pay a pretty penny.

If you're looking for Korean BBQ fine dining: Here is the place! I didn't realize it was fine dining so my attire felt out of place. Everyone is so professional and quick to assist you. I normally don't like Korean bbq because one is meant to bbq their own grill--I for one hate cooking so Korean BBQ has been the one to avoid. HOWEVER--here the staff preps the meat and cook it! The 2 person signature A is a great choice! If you want to have the starter dishes. TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY I had two wine glasses of Flowers (I'm not much of a wine drinker and I really liked this wine) 1glass of Prisoner a red blend it was good too. I loved that their wines are fresh and well preserved. I loved that I don't need to flag the staff instead, press the call button on the side and they come right over. It's a clever discreet way to call attention. All of the foods are great tasting. I forgot that we had a salad! The seats are so comfortable! I loved the ambiance--quiet, luxurious, and private. From the outside the building looks solitary and empty. But once inside WOW! Hands down the best I've been to! Totally worth the $200+ *note: there is no dessert, so come prepared to only eat and chat and then move to a place that has dessert--or no dessert evening*

Criminally underrated spot. This place was really amazing, from start to finish. The ambiance is amazing: chic, modern, and clean. The food was unbeatable, one of the highest quality Korean meals I've had in a long time. The barbecue dishes were perfectly cooked and flavored. The japchae was the best I've ever had, would strongly recommend it! The seafood pancake was quite good too. The fermented crab didn't quite do it for me, but that was a personal preference. Would absolutely return!

Came here on a Friday night to celebrate my friend's birthday :) I easily made reservations on Yelp and I was able to adjust the time from 6:30PM to 5:45PM the same day. The parking lot is quite small. They share it with a motel and gets packed quickly. I parked more towards the back which is a bit sketch :o The inside of the restaurant is super nice and spacious. It was my friend's first time here and we went with options the server recommended. We ordered chungdam galbi and beef tongue along with seafood pancake and rice. It came with complimentary soybean paste stew and my favorite of the night was definitely the galbi :) I also really enjoyed the tea haha I got so many refills! Can't wait to come back!

I stopped by Chungdam with a friend around 12pm on a Tuesday, and it was relatively busy - but we did get a table without wait. The service is really prompt, and there's a button to ask for help when you're ready to order or want a refill on banchan, for the check, etc. The interior is nice, modern and slightly upscale. They asked us if we preferred a bbq table and we said we didn't and were led to a bench table. I got the galbitang (the special magnum galbitang was already sold out for the day), and my friend got the chef's special rice cake and dumpling soup. Both came out perfectly hot but not burning, and were the comforting, rich, savory and flavorful stews that we were craving. The galbitang had a generous amount of rib meat that was tender but not falling apart, and the perfect amount of glass noodle. The broth was clean and savory, and I really enjoyed the bits of jujube. I tried a bit of the rice cake and dumpling soup as well, and the dumplings were super large with a soft tofu? filling that was really enjoyable with the creamy soup. Special shoutout to the banchan - one of which was raw marinated crab which was super sweet and tasty with the rice. I also really appreciated the barley tea and the sweet pumpkin soup at the end for dessert, which really round out the experience. There's also a pumpkin porridge in the beginning as an appetizer, but I didn't love it because it had a bit of a raw rice flour type flavor to it. Overall, Chungdam is a classic that serves great, flavorful and comforting food, with excellent service and is a great, well rounded experience!

Decided to come here for valentines lunch! We booked a reservation online, and thankfully we did! It was packed! Parking is in the back or some street parking. The vibes were great all around! Interior looked modern and clean. We wanted the lunch special but turns out their lunch special is only on M-F. We ended up ordering the pork belly and squid dish, hot stone bibimbap, and beef tartare! Each dish was super yummy and flavorful. The price is a bit on the pricier side, but the food was worth. They gave us a cold sweet pumpkin soup as complimentary dessert. It was SO good. I enjoyed it so much. It was incredibly refreshing as well. Overall, I would return here and try other dishes. I must try their bbq next time!

Just a small corner of seats, so I waited in the car. It took around 45 minutes for us to get seated, but after ordering, the food came out relatively quickly. This is now my go-to spot for galbijjim. I remember thinking right after we left the restaurant that night that I was already looking forward to our next visit. The rice cakes in there were chunky compared to most places, which made it a more enjoyable eat. It was my first time having sooyuk and I loved the cuts of meat in there, especially the tendon. I am really surprised at the portion we received being way smaller compared to what i typically get when i doordash or order for take-out... and i order take-out from here every week or two! my friend got hounded for a tip in the parking lot after paying which was really off putting. at first they said they couldnt read what he wrote. then, when he clarified- she took about 5 minutes begging for a tip in the hot sun... the thing is- he didn't want to tip as we didn't receive any service at all. all they did was just take our order and give us our food. no check-ins during our meal. they took away our water before they even took our card to pay.... it all felt super rushed near the end. out of all the times I've had take-out from here, this dine-in experience missed the mark for us. debating on if it is worth it to come back. very disappointing as this was my friend's first time trying this place and he drove all the way from east bay!

Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise. What makes this place stand out from most Korean restaurants is that you can enjoy so many classic Korean dishes in one meal--soy sauce marinated crab, fresh handmade cold noodles, stews, seafood hot pot, grilled intestines, stone pot bibimbap, and more--without having to visit multiple restaurants. Here are a few signature dishes we tried based on our server's recommendations: Bibim Naengmyeon (Handmade Spicy Cold Noodles) These noodles took a little longer to come out, and our server explained why--they don't start making the noodles until you place your order. The dough is pressed fresh in the kitchen before being served, giving the noodles a wonderfully chewy texture. Served with crushed ice, beef, cucumber, egg, and Korean pear, it was incredibly refreshing on a hot day. It's actually pretty rare to find restaurants in the Bay Area still making cold noodles fresh to order. Soy Sauce Marinated Crab I'd always heard that Korean soy sauce marinated crab is one of the country's most beloved seafood dishes and had seen it countless times in K-dramas, so I was excited to finally try it. The crab was well-marinated, with sweet, tender meat that was full of flavor, and even included quail eggs. If you love seafood, this is definitely worth ordering. Stone Bowl Bibimbap The stone bowl arrived still sizzling at the table. Mixed with beef, spinach, carrots, bean sprouts, fernbrake, and a sunny-side-up egg, every bite was delicious. My favorite part was the crispy golden rice that slowly formed at the bottom of the bowl. Gal Nak (Spicy Braised Beef Short Ribs with Octopus) (Mild Spice) This was perfect for sharing. The pot was filled with tender braised beef short ribs, octopus, tofu, rice cakes, enoki mushrooms, and vegetables. As everything simmered together, the rich broth soaked into every ingredient, making each bite even more flavorful. Every table receives a generous selection of Korean side dishes, including kimchi, japchae, fish cake, cucumber, pickled radish, seaweed, and more. Our server even came by to ask if we wanted free refills before we had to ask, which made the whole dining experience feel very welcoming. Besides the food, I also loved the atmosphere. Right at the entrance is a row of traditional Korean fermentation jars, and the restaurant is decorated with Korean-style ornaments throughout the space. The owner also stopped by to chat with guests and mentioned that he personally shops for fresh ingredients every morning to keep the food consistent in quality. The restaurant is conveniently located next to a Korean supermarket and has its own parking lot with plenty of parking spaces.

This is one of my fave places in this Korean plaza!…read more I always find service to be so friendly and kind. They are a small team but do their best to chat with you and make recommendations. We typically get a 1-meat combo which is more than enough for our 2-3 person family. The portions are huge and the banchan is refilled so unless you're craving tons of different meats, no need to order a ton more. I also love their tofu soup, it's not too oily and also keeps well if you have leftovers. The interior is clean and well kept so you'll be comfy with a group anywhere from 2-6 people. Larger groups might be harder to accomodate but I've never had to reserve for under 6.

We came here around 5:30PM so we did not wait for a table of 5 at all. We wanted to order the package B which comes with 3 protein of choice with add on ramen and cold noodles but they refused to let us order package B but insisted us to order package C which comes with 4 protein of choices. I and my niece don't eat meat so package B was good for us. There are 5 of us but 2 of us don't eat meat, we basically eat the banchan with the sauces. I do not like how they handle the situation at all! I clearly told them I don't eat meat so package B was good for us and they refused. We can not finished with 4 protein for package C which had a lot of left over afterward. The galbi was $9 add on more which the portion are small and over cooked! The grilled chicken was okay, the pork belly and the beef brisket overly thin slices below average quality. The best part of this was the banchan they were given, the potatoes salad was delicious. The hot sauce was very good. I just add all the banchan with white rice and hot sauce to make the best Bibimbap ever. The cold noodles were excellent just like how it tasted in Korea. When my daughter gets up to pay for the bill, they expected us to tip them 18% instead of 15% because there are were party 5 of us. You lucky that we even tip you 15% while we felt the services was horrible! Overall, I like the foods here but the service was not right!

My preference is basically a shin ramyun which has a thicker broth. I loved how this had tteok, sausage, and spam. It's also wonderful that it comes out still boiling inside the stone pot. I love their fresh, sweet kimchi banchan. The place is nice and clean and the service is friendly. It's nice that they also have private rooms available. I liked it enough but if someone asked me a Korean place to eat, this isn't one that would come to the forefront of my mind. It's good but not mind blowing.

The decor is a little dated. Service was efficient and met expectations. We ordered Wang Mandoo, LA Galbi, and a Cold Noodle Combo. The Wang Mandoo were described as king size boiled dumplings with beef, pork, and kimchi, and the sizes did not disappoint -- indeed very huge, even larger than the mandoo I've had in Korea. The meat was tender and overall very tasty. The LA Galbi came out as large slices of BBQ short ribs and were tender, juicy, and flavorful. The cold noodle combo came with cold noodles in broth plus bulgogi. You can pick other protein but that's what we chose. The cold noodles were refreshing and the noodles were chewy and bouncy. The portions were fairly large. The bulgogi was probably the most disappointing of all the dishes we had. It was tender beef but lacked some bbq flavor. I appreciated the wide variety of Banchans that were brought out to our table. They also gladly refilled the banchans as needed.

I get the jajangmyeon ($10.95 for a small) every time, mostly because the noodle texture is TOP TIER. The noodles are thick, chewy, and springy, and they pair really well with the jajang (black bean) sauce. There are also plenty of ingredients mixed into the sauce, although I find it a little salty sometimes. The tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork, $15.95) is super crispy, and I really liked the tangy sauce with it. I personally prefer dipping the pieces in the sauce so they stay crispy, but you can also pour the sauce over if that's your preference! The restaurant can get pretty busy on weekend evenings, with waits usually around 10-30 minutes. There's plaza parking available nearby. Would definitely recommend if you like or want to try jajangmyeon!
