This is my first time going to a kbbq where it's self-serve, and I love the idea of it. You get to have a little of some meats, more of other meats, and be able to come back. I think it's important to mention first and foremost, that the student special is only valid during the weekdays! But I'd gladly pay the extra dollar to eat here anyway. When you first walk in, you're greeted by the nicest staff in the world. You think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. They smile. All. The. Time. So nice! And they tend to you as quickly and efficiently as possible. The guy with the glasses pulled me from the ice cream section once and told me, "Do you like orange sorbet? If so.." and then proceeded to tell me to squeeze orange juice into the vanilla ice cream. So good! And so random! But so nice! (Really love the service--hence all the exclamation marks). Food is great as well. My friends and I probably come at least three times a month. Ridiculous, I know, but I love the buffet style. From the outside, this place appeared like a simple Chinese restaurant. Neon lights, strip mall, hidden behind other businesses. Nothing jumped out. Upon walking inside, we were greeted with a warm hello and taken to our tables. The employees here were genuine and caring. Very much a 'family' feel, as the employee kept telling us how to really eat KBBQ and telling us what was really good and what to stay away from. Also, our sodas were NEVER empty. That is worth 4.5 stars right there. The environment inside was simple. A few center islands where the meat is chilling on ice - buffet style. All you can eat. There are overhead vent hoods for each table, but they're not necessary as the grill in the middle of the table has it's own vacuum like ventilation that sucks the smoke under the table and out of the store. Great thinking! Those vent hoods can be very loud. The food was delicious. Bulgogi and other coated beef slices, pork belly with lots of juicy fat, and veggies a plenty. I just love onions covering everything. Midway through, they came out and changed the char covered grill, which I can appreciate. Also, they give the customer control over the heat - which from other KBBQ establishments is rare. Left with a full stomach and couldn't be happier. My favorite KBBQ selection is probably beef brisket. My parents' favorite is probably galbi. Koreana Grill BBQ Buffet has both. It is AYCE buffet but it can be limited. When it's peak hour, there are too many customers for the amount of employees and meat they have. You don't order at your table. You go get your own meat and other food. When a waiter refills meat, all customers get up to go get it and it's gone within seconds. Then it's a waiting game all over. I wish they expanded the areas just for the meat so customers have better options but I'm sure they did this on purpose to cut down the expenses for the meat. I am very disappointed with this place. It's an all you can eat buffet and I will say it wasn't all you can eat. The hot table buffet was empty. It's the middle of lunch and nothing was replenished. I LOVE LOVE LOVE KOREANA! This is the only KBBQ place I go to in Riverside. Not only is the food good, but I also get a discount because I go to UCR! The food is super awesome here and there is a pretty good amount of variety for anyone's taste. I normally get a huge plate of kalbi, teriyaki, a bunch of pork varieties. And I get a huge bowl of rice, and then a plate of the tempura calimari stuff. I eat a lot here because all the food is really good. The service is really on point here. We went inside to pick it up and everything was packed neatly. All the vegetables were in one bag and all the meats were in another. The family pack comes with rice, banchans , sauces, and utensils. Usually Korean BBQ places give you a whole plate of meat each time you order so you can only try a few plates and you may not be able to finish that last plate. They even have the Korean barley tea. When the I want Korean bbq this is the only place I go in this area. We dined here previously with about 10 guests, this time around we dined with 5. The only downside that I could say is that the servers did not change our grill the whole time we were there. Wait times can be a bit long, but the staff communicates with you how far along are you in the list, which is very reassuring. I can't complain on anything regarding the food or its quality. Our family of four have never experienced a Korean AYCE BBQ, so after finding this location that is not in OC, and reading the reviews, we decided to try it. Upon our arrival around 6 PM, we were lucky that we were seated immediately by a very gracious gentleman. Our waiter was equally gracious and friendly: when he found out we were newbies to this type of dining experience, he took us all to the buffet area and explained the process. The gentleman who seated us, overheard our waiter and also gave us a feel tips, such as keeping all the raw foods on one plate while using a second plate for the ready cooked food items. The buffet area offered many different types of raw meats, marinated and plain to bring back to your table for cooking. There are many condiment offerings, soups, rice, a couple of noodle type dishes and sushi. There is one serving area that had several types of soups, brown and white steamed rice, and rice wrappers. Our sons had a blast cooking their own meat choices on our table grill and it was a very enjoyable experience for our entire family. Our soda glasses were refilled in a timely manner by our waiter. For dessert, there is jello, fresh cut fruit and soft serve ice cream. Our pre-tip dinner cost us about $71. We will definitely return to Koreana when we're craving for Korean BBQ and do not wish to fight the 91 traffic to OC for other great Korean AYCE BBQ establishments. read more
