Just when everything is perfect...you get an incredible surprise and find this place. Sushi made perfectly and fish is without a doubt the freshest. You must come!

I had a memorable Valentine's Day dinner here. Recently-seated diners were made to feel at home with some towels to cleanse their hands and some sesame noodles to whet their appetite. The service was accommodating and quick. Hands down, Kotobuki wins for one of the best places to go for some fresh, authentic and creatively-prepared sushi. I had the Crazy Salmon hand roll--my go-to order here for over 15 years. Today all women were presented with a single red rose after dinner. Lore says that that gift is symbolic of love at first sight. My experience today at Kotobuki surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend this top-notch sushi place.

I have been wanting to come here for over 20 years, since I moved out to LI. I'm not sure why I never came. I guess it's because I didn't think I could get in, knowing that it's very popular and packed. So I came at 12 Noon and this is a great time. It was so delightful it was a top notch experience from beginning to end. I ordered a popular appetizer called, "Spicy Tuna Pizza". It was so delicious. They take sushi rice and put it between two pieces of seaweed and then deep fry it. They then top it with tuna and crabmeat. The "crust" is very thin and crispy, hence the pizza name. Creative play on textures and who doesn't love pizza?! I would order again. Then I had the, "Carnival Roll" which was made with tuna, jalapeño, pickled onion and some other stuff I can't remember. Very fresh. I was torn between this roll and the Grinch. I was happy with my decision but I would definitely want to come back to try the Grinch roll, and so many other items too. There are so many interesting rolls and a wide variety of everything from which to choose, not just sushi and sashimi. My dining partner had the oysters in garlic appetizer. OMG. I do not even like oysters at all but the waiter suggested I try it and am I glad I did! They was lightly fried and cooked to perfection. They were not slimy or tough, The two textures I've ever had trying oysters. So when I fit into an oyster, I was shocked. It was almost creamy. And then they sit in an oyster shell in a beautiful garlic sauce. I am a convert and may only eat oysters here. The service was great and I love the decor, with its minimalist Japanese sensibility. OK, I guess by now you can tell I really liked this place. I now know why it was named the number one restaurant on Long Island for many many years, back when there was no Yelp and Zagats was how we found out where to get good eats.

Came to this location ( Babylon ) to try it out. Like the one in Smithtown but it was a bit far from where I was coming from. The sign was a little hard to see since it was dark but you're at the right place if you see the black awnings atop the windows. Got to the restaurant at around 6:15pm and there was ample seating available. So glad we didn't have to wait at all. It did get pretty full soon after. Service was fine and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Came around often to fill our teas and water glasses. Very helpful when asking for suggestions. Highly recommend the sushi pizza as an appetizer! It had a crunchy crust made of rice and seaweed. The topping was really delicious! Because it was cold outside, one of us ordered an udon soup bowl with chicken. We didn't realize how big the order was otherwise we would not have ordered more food. We shared it and still had leftovers. So we had it wrapped for take home. Our second entree was a combo of 2 rolls (Caterpillar and Crazy ). The avocado topping was fresh and plentiful so it was very filling. All of the food were very fresh and tasty. Will return when I get a chance. You won't be disappointed, definitely give this place a try.

I thought this place was really good. The food was really good. My girlfriend and I agreed that the fish tasted very fresh. I specifically thought the salmon tasted really fresh. The spicy tuna was also very good. The service was great. The server did a good job. The place was packed so that was a good sign. My girlfriend ordered some sort of Sake which was actually really good. I also thought it was cool how they give you hot towels. Id definitely come back again.

Food was great. Staff was friendly. Interior was small but didn't ever get too loud and was very nice. Our waiter was super nice and offered to refill my soup with more broth since I had alot of the noodles and veggies left but ran out of broth. The food was fresh and delicious and they give you complimentary noodles and hand towels when you first sit down which is a great addition. Would definitely come back.

Enjoyed lunch today with my sister. Excellent service, excellent fresh fish, excellent sauté oysters in a butter sauce to die for. Lunch special main dishes come with miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. You can't beat the lunch price of $16. Always request a side of spicy mayo, way better than soy sauce for dipping. This place would be my last meal request before I meet the Maker upstairs.

By far our favorite sushi place!! The caterpillar remix has been my family's favorite for a while. The sushi is top quality and the soup was super tasty!

Shrinkflation has hit this place hard. Same price as before but 50% of previous portion. That's all fine and good except they have not bothered to update their menu photos. Thus created blatant FALSE ADVERTISING. Will not be going back. Before (still in menu) & Actual item photos included (August 2024)

The space is very large and we were able to have a gift exchange around the hibachi grill. I arrived early and sat at the bar for happy hour. I ordered a pint of beer on tap and waited for everyone to arrive. I'm looking around, this is a very large space. The bar can easily seat 20 patrons. Everyone starts to come in and we're shown to our hibachi area. The menu is substantial and there are lots of combination choices. Brah, steak and scallops all day long! There's one thing about me, I don't participate in hibachi shinanagans. Squirting Sake at me? Yeah.. I'm out. Don't throw shrimp at me, just cook! (I am a fun guy just not a participant) Now the fun begins, pyrotechnics! He makes an onion flame volcano, he cooks a mountain of fried rice and does an egg show on his spatula. The food? The steak is cooked to perfection and the scallops? Mmm mm! At the end of the night, everyone had a fun cocktail, good food and an overall good time. I did a review of their horrible service 3 years ago. Some things dont change. So I deleted that so I could vent once again. (Only 1 review per person apparently) I purchased a 20 dollar lomein to go this warm evening. while I was waiting for it, the never smiling lady, Joanne, was at the front wait area. I asked her for a glass of water while I waited. She said you need to pay. I chuckled, she did not. I said, no not a bottle, from the gun as i pointed to the water soda gun. She said yes I know you need to pay! THIS PLACE SUCKS. She then said next time you pay and handed me a glass 1/3 filled with no ice. Mind you, it is all right in front of her, glasses ice soda and beer. I said no thanks, keep it. I got my overpriced greasy lomein and went home. I paid 7 dollars for extra beef because mushroom is historically miserly with protein.. It had 9, 1/8 inch by 1.5 inch pieces of beef in it. The noodle were mushy and it was loaded with grease. I only go there because they are the only local place open after 9. Go to Hong Kong chinese food in the same parking lot for takeout. Their pieces of protein are mush larger and you do not need to order extra, but they close at 9 Hong Kong is also 50% less than Mushroom and they smile. Mushroom is supposed to be the upscale place. Gag me. Picture below is entire order of beef lomein with extra beef 54 minutes ago
