Most of the group arrived about 10 minutes before 6, I arrived at 6:15, and another friend came in to get a to go order while we were there. When I arrived, the server had not yet brought waters nor taken drink orders. (25 minutes after being seated) After I arrived she finally brought waters and shortly after, we ordered food. 6 of the meals came out after about 30 minutes. Mine did not arrive with the rest of the table even though I was the first order she took. About 5-7 minutes later someone caught our servers attention and asked about it. We got a dirty look and she said she was just about to get it. Finally at 7:05, I received my food. Our friend who ordered To Go, sat with us while he waited.When his food was ready, nobody told him. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and finally had the opportunity for lunch. The atmosphere is pretty nice. It's a good local place to get some really good Thai food. The service was great, and it is one of the few places that brought me a carafe of tea which I don't mind at all. Saves everyone some time. :) I ordered chicken basil fried rice at a heat level of 3, and it turned out just right. I tend to get a little too spicy, but this worked well for me. The flavor was great and just what I was in the mood for that day. I thought I would have some to take home, but that didn't work out as I just went ahead and finished the whole thing. This is one of my favorite place to eat in the Rockwall area. I've been coming to this restaurant for over 3 years and I've tried almost everything on the menu with a checked off to go menu as proof. Everything that I have tried has been delicious. My personal favorites are dishes that I can get with a level 5 (highest they will go) Thai spice. I typically go for the Amazing Curry. We always order take out, it never disappoints. We've had all of their curries, panang and amazing and yellow are our favorites. Summer rolls are bomb! Pad Thai makes me feel all warm and cozy. Everything from the service, atmosphere, and the food was depressing. The entire restaurant felt dim and dirty, it wasn't busy yet there were several tables that needed to be cleaned. We were given glasses with the bottles of soda we ordered and thankfully because one of the glasses appeared to be dirty. The food was comparable to microwaveable meals. We waited 20 minutes before the server came back and when we expressed our distaste, we were told we should have let her know it was our first time ordering Thai food because she would have recommended something different. My boyfriend and I eat Thai often, she made the assumption since we said it was our first time eating that this restaurant. It felt like she was blaming us for not liking the food. There are 2 things that make my blood boil. Now any employee with a little sense would've taken our order or notify our waitress. I guess 'ol dude was having one of those days and wanted to get "ignant" with somebody. He told my husband that our waitress would be out when she got done with whatever she was doing with so much attitude, I'm CERTAIN he has dealt with my cousin ShaQuita from the Southside of St. Louis before; neck popping and everything! My husband nodded then turned to face me. No ma'am Miss Pam! I couldn't let that slide. Not today! I gently placed my child I was holding in my husband's lap and asked the waiter what was his deal. Due to a nasty flu bug, I was in the need for chili. I tried in vain to get my fix from Van Chan and was let down. Enter Koung Thai. Might as well call it Enter the Dragon! After my last visit, I vowed to return and to my utmost joy I got the same waiter and found another nuance... They will put whatever combination together you want and make it as hot as you like. Provide you, even to go, with every necessary condiment (OMG awesome chili / fish sauce, garlic chili oil etc...) delicious rice and look at the picture. That is how it looked after driving it home!!!! I think these guys are one solid green curry (my next choice) from a 5!!! He liked the flavor, but wasn't crazy about the vegetables served with it (potatoes & Thai eggplant). He ordered his heat at a 5 and his was not as hot as mine.
