Great little place to try different desserts and hang out just chatting and catching up in a relaxing atmosphere
This is a cute little dessert room with an intimate vibe. This was a first for me trying Japanese desserts and I enjoyed my experience! The crème brûlée pudding and Japanese cheesecake were my favorites. The strawberry matcha was delicious. The only thing I did not care for was the ube flan. The consistency just wasn't for me. Otherwise, everything else was great and this made for a nice matcha a dessert date!
I was not aware of the new split location. I went to the new location (2 doors down) for the chicken katsu and curry beef. Instead 2 small chicken tenders and a bowl of curried potatoes & carrots w MINCED stew. The waitress was a sweetheart, and the manager was nice but the "little spiky hair waiter" was so rude, he embarrassed me with the tone in which he was speaking to me prior to the manager coming to speak to me. I forgot to take a picture before leaving, but my stew did not look like the picture below. It was more thicker and full of potatoes and carrots, but I don't even eat anyway. So upset with my experience. I was really disappointed that I wasn't offered another option/compromise for my meal. My only resolution was to eat the meal and paying for a meal that I didn't want or me leaving . Tip: Maybe the cook should be more mindful when scooping the stew into bowls. Place is small but I like that all are booths for more privacy, Hubby ordered Ni-Tori Raisu which consists of 2 pieces of chicken Katsu with rice, while I got the Japanese Katsu curry which is a combination of chicken Katsu and beef curry. Both our meals were very good, but I prefer my order since I get to taste 2 different types of their meat plus it's also cheaper. The beef was tender and I enjoyed the curry sauce that covered the rice, so yummy. Tried also the Tanjiro Sando, it was just okay, I prefer the fried version with the cream filling. The Ube was my favorite, it was not overly sweet which we prefer. For dessert, the Fried Shokupan Pudding was interesting but will not order again, Overall, we had a great dinner. Service was fast and food was delicious!
Japanese curry and sando is not something that I ever thought I needed in my life. Well, I do. This is a cute little place on Beach Blvd. the restaurant itself is not very big so be prepared to wait if you want to eat there. What is Japanese curry? Well, to me it's a lot like beef stew with just a tinge of curry flavor. I'm sure that there are far more sophisticated explanations, but needless to say, it's really, really good. The meat is at that fall apart goodness stage, and the curry itself is hearty and something that would be awesome on a cold, wintry night. In Florida. My wife and I split the Katsu curry. Which is the beef curry and chicken katsu on top. Why? Well, because awesome fried chicken, that's why! It's a big dish and was great to share. We also ordered some oshinko (pickled daikon), ao-kappa (pickles) and kimchi daikon. All were really good and the kimchi definitely has a kick. Oh and we ordered a strawberry ube cream sando. Ube is a purple sweet potato like root. Combine that with strawberries and Japanese milk bread? Oh my goodness! It makes for a great dessert but I don't know how someone could order that as an entree. Look, everything we tried was really good and the rest of the menu looks equally delicious. Trust me. You need Japanese curry and sando in your life as well!!
I had been wanting to visit here for so long!! But with their hrs, you have to plan your visit to make sure you can catch them open! Closed weekends! Walking in it's pretty small in there I definitely recommend coming on non peak times, they have individual booth/ cabanas (?) which are cool! We tried to get a bunch of stuff to share, the sando's both of the curry's and of course the Ube strawberry sando! I loved both the sandos....the fried chicken one and the Ube one LOVED! For the curry's also were very good but the chicken curry was so spicy! We were both sweating trying to eat it! lol! Both agreed we liked the beef curry better! Loved the uniqueness and delicious food of this restaurant!
I enjoyed a great lunch at Koushinryou recently. I've been to their sister restaurant Karai but this was my first visit to Koushinryou. I have to admit- I've been a little intimidated by the menu because due to my allergies, genetics, or likely both- I do not tolerate spicy food well unfortunately. I decided to go with the Side by Side Curry so I could try two curries at once. The Koushinryou chicken curry (spice level 1) and the Japanese beef curry (spice level 2) were both absolutely delicious. So delicious in fact that I kept eating the Japanese curry despite the fact that my face went flush & my mouth was tingling. Thank goodness the curries are served with rice. I got to sample the Hokage Karaage and the Katsu Curry ordered by others in my party. I also enjoyed their choices as did they. It was a great first visit for all!
This place is incredibly popular. We came at 6:45pm on a Friday evening, and there was a half hour wait. But, you can smell the food from outside the restaurant. It smells SO GOOD. The theme-ing of this place is on point! I would recommend it to any anime lover in your life. It's more anime focused than general Japanese. The lady in the front was very friendly and attentive to the clientele. She even let us move from the bar to a booth when one opened up. SUPER SWEET. We ordered the chicken salad and the beef sandwich. They're a little pricey for what you get, but your paying for the location and ambience. The beef is rare but soft. And the chicken was nice and crunchy. They use a sesame sauce for their salad. If it was me, next time I'd request less sauce, but that's a personal preference. But with the service, music, theme, it's a worthwhile visit. Be aware, if you don't have a phone that can scan QR codes, it may be hard to get on a wait-list or look at a menu. It's a very technologically based restaurant. There aren't any laminated menus. Off to the future here, aren't we?
This place always hits. The curry and katsu dishes are so good. Protein and rice is my favorite combination. I recommend the ichi-tori katsu raisu and the Japanese katsu curry. There are booths so it only fits up to four people comfortably. The bread pudding is my favorite dessert.

Located in the shopping center with Karai Ramen, Koushinryou is their new concept. It takes over the slightly underwhelming Kaprao's former spot. The name of the place sort of says it all. They have multiple options of sandos and Japanese and Thai curry. Katsu chicken, spring rolls, fries, and salad are also on the menu. On my first visit I opted for the Japanese beef curry with katsu chicken. At first I thought that the two proteins may not work well together, I actually ended up loving this. The beef is so chunky and it was sitting in a warm, hearty curry. It reminded me of a pot roast or stew. It had a slight sweetness to it. The Katsu chicken was good. Although it was a bit dry for my taste, when it was eaten with the curry, it worked well. I really enjoyed the pickled veggies and they may have been the highlight of the meal. On my second visit, I ate in with colleagues. I got the grouper Sando, and they got the side by side curries along with the chicken Katsu Sando. The grouper sandwich was good and the bread was nice and soft. I probably prefer the curry over this but for a quick lunch, it was perfect. I am not a real fan of mayonnaise so I got it on the side but the sandwich definitely needed some moisture as it was a little dry. The sweet potato fries were fine, nothing too remarkable despite the spices noted on the menu. On the side by side curry plate, the Japanese one is not spicy but the Thai one has a bit of a kick. This place I hope will do well. The curry is absolutely delicious. They need perhaps some sauce for the katsu meats as on both occasions they were dry. Despite this, I'll be back.
This place has been on my list for a while and we finally stopped in tonight on our way back to our side of town from the beach. We have been missing out! The ichi tori katsu entree was amazing. The chicken was perfectly hot and crispy, the (pickled/dressed?) cabbage and sauces sealed the deal! The Japanese curry was bomb as well (phone did not eat first.) Absolutely need to go back and try all of the sandwiches. Extremely affordable and reasonably priced! Always a bonus. Cute vibe inside, nice atmosphere. I love the divided booths. 10/10 must try
I've been here a few times now. The service is always friendly and helpful with suggestions. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. Today, we sat outside to put tables together for our party of 7. Indoor has booths that sit 4-6, depending. Glad there was a breeze in this FL heat. It was nice. Portions are very generous. Perfect for sharing OR eat half and take the rest home. Hehe. My friend and I shared. - Curry cheese fries (like poutine, but with an Asian touch of curry gravy) - Hatta Katsu Sando (fried grouper w/ crispy outside and flaky inside) - Taiyaki (red bean) - Strawberry Ube Cream Sando (my fav) Everything was delicious. Despite the scare of spiders and wasps. Hahaha. Sharing, just to be aware. The waitress apologized, but we know it's not their fault. You're outside. They live there. Don't be squeamish. Welcome to Florida! Haha Great stuff! Enjoy!
Such a cute little spot! Koushinryou Dessert Room is definitely worth a stop, whether you're grabbing something to go or lucky enough to snag a seat (it's pretty small! The seating selection is comfy and cozy, but there aren't many spots). I tried the oat milk matcha, and it did not disappoint. It had that strong matcha flavor I'm always looking for. None of that watery, just-green-milk nonsense. This place clearly knows what they're doing when it comes to matcha. To stay on theme, I also went for the matcha tiramisu. It was good, but not something I'd rush back for. With such a fun, unique menu, I'm more excited to keep trying new things. My friend ordered the hojicha fruit & nut latte, and... it wasn't for either of us. I gave it a try too, and while I couldn't quite pinpoint what threw it off, it had a bitter note under the strawberry that didn't sit right. It may just be an acquired taste, so I'm not writing it off forever. The staff were all super sweet and helpful, which made the experience even better. Easy plaza parking. Very quick service. The restaurant was well themed. I liked the wide variety of Japanese styled desserts. Ordering is via a screen for easy ordering. We tried the crème brûlée bread pudding. The taste and texture were great. Will have to return to sample other desserts read more

5-stars for atmosphere! The warm walls and cozy mix of furniture is made for hanging out. They want you to stay awhile. The staff were really kind and excited to tell us about the dessert options and drinks, including free iced barley tea (unsweetened and low caffeine), complimentary and worth a try, even though I'd say it's an acquired taste. We really enjoyed our desserts here, but the drinks and desserts were almost priced exactly the same, so be prepared for that! Maybe get one or the other, not both. read more

This spot is super quaint and they fill up quickly due to the size but we were able to snag a spot right at the bar right away. The menu is digital and there is a QR code but also some tablets they leave out that also allow view of the menu. They also have a tablet on the wall to the right of the bar to place to go orders without talking to anyone. The food was great. You get such a good amount of food. I went with the Japanese Katsu curry it was fantastic, the curry was well balanced and the chicken was crunchy. My fiancé got the karai katsu raisu and loved the chicken and pickles. We had ordered an egg salad sando to start but ended up not getting it but we look forward to trying it the next visit. The one downside to the visit was our particular waiter. The waitress I think her name was Irene was hustling and kicking butt. Our waiter seemed to struggle a bit which impacted the experience some. We'd definitely go back and we definitely still recommend it. We ordered the strawberry ube sando to go and I can't wait to eat it when we get home. read more

Luffy Filet Katsu Sando, Japanese beef curry chicken katsu, and Strawberry Ube Cream Sando. Steak sando and curry really were the stars and we will be back. Tip #1: sign up for the waitlist that you scan outside the door. There is no reception or waiting area inside. Tip #2: Not suitable for parties larger than 4. There are 6 tables that seat 4 each and a bar area of about 5 stools. If coming with a larger group be prepared to split up. read more

Wooooooow! We had the side by side curry (Japanese & Thai red curry), so good! Red curry was a little spicy, but I loved it. We also had the Karai Katsu Raisu plate, that was for sure my favorite thing. The crispiness and flavor of the breading, with the juiciest thigh meat inside. We love sides, so we got the 2 types of cucumbers and the daikon kimchi. They were good, different than anything I've had, but still good. And finally, of course, the SANDO! Ube strawberry, on the softest bread with the most delish cream inside. The place is quite small, but thankfully they have a waitlist system in place for when tables open up. They had just 1 server, I felt bad bc she was pulled all over & running all over the place bc it was quite busy in a Tuesday night. I think 2 servers would have made it a smoother experience. Overall still a great experience & I will definitely be back! read more
A MILLION STARS!!! the food here is absolutely insane! Easily the best katsu and japanese curry I've had! Not pictured, but insanely delicious were the curry cheese fries and Japanese katsu curry! The beef in the curry is amazingly tender and the curry is so flavorful and delicious! The chicken katsu is perfectly crunchy, did not get soggy at all even in the curry, and it is made with the juiciest, mosy succulent chicken thighs! The ube cream in the sandwich is delicious and I love how soft the bread is. The red Thai curry is great as well with a nice little kick to it! The service here is great and the atmosphere is very cute! I will be back so many times over and over again; this place is amazing!! read more

I took my brother here today for his birthday. This was the first time we both have been and it definitely made an impression on us. Delightful atmosphere with a decent size menu that didn't overwhelm us with too many options and the service was fantastic. We started off with hot sake and Harumaki. Tasted similar to lumpia so yea they were delicious. I ordered The Japanese Katsu Curry. The beef was juicy, tender with so much flavor along with the generous portion of crispy chicken. It did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back! read more

I've never had Japanese curry before but from how good it was I've been missing out. We got the side by side and the Japanes curry was nice and hearty and the thai curry had just the right amount of sweetness. We also got the koko shrimp, and it was nice and crunch and the sauce was delicious. And last we got the Karai Katsu Raisu and it was so good. The batter for the chicken did not have a lot of flavor but tye sauce made up for it, and it was delicious dipped in the curry. The we're unfortunately out of bread but I will definitely come back to try them! read more
Small restaurant located in a strip mall. I called for carry out when they opened. It still took 30 minutes for the order, which kinda surprised me as it seems that most of the items are pre-made. The curry is fabulous. It is a real comfort food that reminds me of a beef stew that has been cooking for hours. The chicken katzu was fine. I really want to like chicken Katsu, but I find it usually to be over cooked and dry. Next time I will get the curry only. And yes, there will be a next time to get this curry. It is fabulous! The assorted pickles and sausage were tasty,but I'll skip them next time. I was intrigued to order the strawberry ube Sando. The filling was very tasty. It's enough to try it once. Be aware that this restaurant is not open on weekends hopefully in the future this will change. read more
Brought a friend here to try the sandos for the first time. She chose the egg salad sando and we couldn't decide so we went with the strawberry/banana/Nutella and the tiramisu sandos. The milk bread is so soft and fluffy. Sandwiches are huge and very filling. The dessert sandos were so good! Not too sweet so if you manage to finish the whole thing, you won't leave feeling sugar sick. Lol. Just a note, they are closed on the weekends! You can only enjoy this yumminess Mon-Fri. Hopefully one day they'll stay open for the weekends too. read more

Omg I love this place! The restaurant is rather small yet cozy. There are only a few booths and bar for seating. They only have contactless menus. I couldn't decide on which curry to get so the side by side curry was the best option for me. The Koushinryou curry was decently spicy and has a strong beef flavor. The Japanese curry wasn't too spicy yet flavorful. Personally, I preferred the Japanese curry but it was nice to be able to try both. My boyfriend got the Japanese curry katsu and he loved it. The katsu was nice and crispy. The filet sando was juicy and tender. My favorite had to be the dessert, which was the ube sando! It's not overly sweet at all. The servers here are very friendly and attentive. They even have us free stickers at the end of our meal! Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. If only they were open on weekends though.. read more

We were looking for something new on a Monday night. Googled 'new restaurants in Jacksonville' and Koushnryou came up. Looks interesting so we drove to the restaurant and wanted to try it. We're so glad we came by to try this restaurant. Not only the food was amazing but the service is top-notch. Very friendly workers and quick to your needs. Drinks was alway refilled and server was attentive. Our food was awesome. Taste fresh and they were perfectly matched with their respective sides. Dessert was a nice way to end the night. The food is 10/10 and reasonably priced. The service is always very friendly and helpful and the decorations in the restaurant are perfect. It's a must see and one of the best restaurants in Jax in my opinion. read more

After you come here you will continue to crave it. I would highly recommend all 3 items I tried, but Japanese Beef Curry was my favorite - super savory and comforting. And the Strawberry Ube Cream Sando really just tastes like strawberry shortcake but it's still fun! read more
