Bad Management. We told them they had a wet floors and that they felt slippery as soon as we got there. Then after having a round a couple rounds of sake shots between 3 people, we were cut off because the manager said he saw one of us slip?? I remember the good old days when the tuna was red and not mostly pink with some red hemorrhaging through it. The quality of the fish they sell in their sushi has plummeted since opening. I also ordered a vodka cranberry and they used pure cranberry juice which is EXTREMELY tart - probably because it was cheaper. It was undrinkable. Our waitress was VERY attentive, almost too attentive, but once she mentioned it was her first day I appreciated her effort. My favorite dish here, which I forgot to take a pic of, is the mango salmon appetizer. It's so sweet and tasty! I would return just for this dish (maybe even get a double order as a meal?) Otherwise the rest of my sushi was just above average- rolls and pieces of fish seem smaller than other places nearby. Had a coupon from the mint magazine, so that made dinner reasonably priced. We had a really nice lunch date at Volcano Japanese Cuisine! The restaurant is modern and beautiful with some unique touches sure to wow your friends on instagram. It was our servers first day on the job and while it wasn't completely smooth because of that, she was friendly and still did a good job. We got the Volcano sushi roll which looked amazing set on fire but was also delicious. My wife liked the veggie roll. Miso soup was good and my wife thought the salad had the "good" ginger dressing. We both got the hibachi lunchtime meals. The steak was small in portion and a little overcooked but probably appropriate considering the lunch special price. If you are far sighted like me, walk with your glasses as the menu is extensive and all the items are listed in tiny font on a double sided menu. We were impressed with the presentation of the Volcano roll. Unfortunately we were not as impressed with the fried rice from the shrimp Hibachi which was a bit chewy. The fires starter roll was on par with other Sushi restaurants. We ordered sweet tea as our non alcoholic drink but were not offered refills. This is not an issue for me but it seems that other competitors often offer refills. The Salmon sashimi was fresh but we overheard another customer stating that the wasabi had no kick. I didn't believe her at first as tried it on its own and she was right! The ambience was modern and inviting but it seemed to outshine the standard that we were expecting for the food. Do not order hibachi from here! The steak and chicken were both overcooked, very dry and hard to chew. When I asked if the protein could be changed, the manager took the entire plate back. This place is behind Fresh Market. The building is very nice and fancy inside. Our server brought us a pitcher of water, which I thought was so nice to have. He was very nice and attentive throughout our meal. Pretty big menu so there is a lot to choose from. It is a little pricey and I noticed the hibachis have some up charges to them depending on what you want. Soup is not complementary, but I think it was only like three dollars. It was okay, it had a really strong beef like taste. The sushi was good. We got Angry Bird, Philly, Yum Yum, and Shrimp Tempura. There was also a $10 off coupon in the mint magazine we used. Located behind Fresh Market, you won't see it from the road on Atlantic. But, nice cute spot. Lined with booths and some bar seating. The old schnitzel place. We went on a Saturday afternoon about 1pm. I like that they're open for lunch. Some sushi places aren't open until after 4pm. Food was delicious. I was surprised they said they didn't have Ramen, though (yes, it's on the menu). Oh well, might have to go back and try it next time! The fried rice is delicious. Shrimp were a little hard, but good flavor. Scallops were thinner than I'm used to. The flaming volcano roll is yum. Although, I'd probably do less of that sauce. It was good, but a little sweet for my taste. The sushi alone was good. Maybe go light on the "lava" next time. My godsis got the Sexy on the Beach roll, she liked it. Desserts were all kid approved. I went with the mochi ice cream. Just the perfect amount and flavor. Yummmm. As for the service, it was good. The waitress was a little hard to understand sometimes. And when we asked for chop sticks, they said, "look in the drawer." I was fascinated that they had drawers at the front end of the table. Came here on a Saturday morning right near open and there was still a table that beat us in. Restaurant is pretty nice and has many TVs if you need something to watch while you eat. The bar is also clean with many options. Service was a bit slow but the restaurant had just opened to be fair. The poke bowl was delicious, the fried onions on top were fresh and added so much flavor and there was plenty of ahi tuna and salmon in the middle. My mom got the steak hibachi and the flavor and presentation were both great! We ended with the banana tempura which was very good and reminded us of the Filipino dish Turon.
