We recently visited Kovai Cafe, a place that has been much hyped, but unfortunately, our experience did not live up to it. There are far better restaurants in the Bay Area. Food: Rava Masala Dosa - was crispy and well-cooked, but the masala lacked salt. Additionally, the green chutney tasted stale. Medu Vada - was disappointing, it was served cold. Roadside Kalan - had an okay taste but was excessively oily. Service: While the server was friendly and accommodating with our requests for extras, the feedback process was disappointing. When I approached the billing counter to provide feedback, the person there was defensive and unprofessional. When I mentioned that the vada was served cold, the response was that we should have informed them immediately, and since the kitchen was closed, they offered a 30% discount on the vada despite us only consuming 25% of it. Ambience: Overall the ambiance was pleasant and the place seemed kid-friendly. However, the food quality was average, and the service, particularly the handling of feedback, was subpar.
