I liked the clean and modern wooden interior. We order a variety of dishes, but my two favorites were the Som Tum Salad (light and refreshing) and Pad Thai with chicken (great wok hei and lots of flavor!). My husband ordered the Kai Tod (Thai fried chicken) - the batter could have been crispier, I've had better ones at other Thai restaurants. The worse dish in my opinion was the Sizzling Ka-Praw Seafood. The entire dish smelled and tasty fishy and expensive. Would not recommend this dish at all and best to stick to the known Thai dishes. There's lots of reviews that paint Khao as being nice interior/ambiance, but with bland food. I would listen to them. The food looked good, but it really feels like their kitchen hasn't hit their stride yet. I might try them again eventually, but i was disappointed by the service and food this first time around. This place took over the old Rojoz Wraps storefront. The parking situation can be hit or miss, there was a long line if cars for the mcdonalds drive thru that was hindering traffic into the lot. Luckily, we walked so avoided all of that. They were pretty busy, I did appreciate that the staff weren't hovering over us and only came over when we got their attention. We ordered the chicken pad kee mao, pretty standard. It came out and looked really nice, but when I started eating it, it was soooo salty. I don't think I'll be back, just wasn't to my taste. For the food we tried: *Fried calamari - a little oily but crispy with lots of calamari pieces we really loved this and the crunch in every bite *Paratha - this came with a nice yellow curry sauce, also a little on the oily side but if you like fried flakey pieces of dough with a curry sauce this was really yum *Papaya salad - this was very yummy with a nice tang with lots of flavor. Nice fresh papaya and lots of crunch * Thai basil fried rice - This was yummy and standard taste, you could taste the basil which i liked. I wish the portion here was a little larger though * Khao soi - For a noodle dish this was pretty good. It came with these crispy noodles that come with a curry sauce and they were yummy and slurpy * Cashew Chicken - this was actually really yummy, this dish is on the sweeter side and it was nice and crunchy. The roti was too oily but the yellow curry was very good. We ordered the deep fried sea bass. The flavor was good when you got some of the sauce but there wasnt a lot of it to be all over the fish. Also the sea bass didn't have a lot of meat in it. The pork belly we got was good and actually better the next day as a left over. Overall this place is ok. Stumbled upon this place last night after seeing the lot for Siam Station, my usual goto Thai, crowded. Glad that I did because it was a fantastic experience. Got seated for dinner around 8pm almost immediately. Good mix of the classic dishes, spice levels aligned with expectations, really nice ambiance and decor. Mix of inside and outside seating. A bit understaffed, but they work hard to make the rounds. Decent price at roughly $40/pp Had the beef pad see ew, beef pad kee mao, Thai iced tea, and roti with yellow curry. Everything was delicious. The beef had a nice smoky wok hei taste, noodles were cooked well, and both entrees had just the right amount of vegetables. I'd say it was just enough food for two moderately hungry people. I'd love a bit more curry for the roti though. Maybe I'll opt for a full curry order next time. My family made a reservation at Khao Thai restaurant for a Sunday gathering. It is located at the corner of a strip mall facing McDonald's. It was larger and more upscale than I expected. The interior is elegantly designed with bronze, grey and brown hues, laminate wood floors, small trees in planter boxes and exotic light fixtures. Having lived in Hollywood for close to a decade, my expectations when it comes to Thai food are pretty high. Thai Town down there has a lot of variety and many quality restaurants such as Jitlada, Mae Malai, Ruen Pair, Palms Thai, Sapp Coffee, etc. We had a nice corner table for 12 people. The drink menu has sake options, mocktails, Thai iced tea, butterfly pea lemonade and Singha beer but no hard liquor cocktails. I ordered a Mai Tai, which was bright and colorful. It was topped with mint leaves and a Maraschino cherry. The sake blended with the juices smoothly and it was better than expected. We ordered many dishes to be served family-style. We started off with Roti, which was served with a yellow curry sauce. It came out hot and flaky. A nice chewy texture. Next came the Crab Fried Rice. The texture was a bit mushy and the rice was clumped together. The crab was fresh and the flavor was pretty mild. For the next set of dishes, we got the Crispy Pork Belly, Pad Thai, Stir-fried Cabbage, Green Papaya Salad, Chicken Larb with sticky rice and Tom Yum with seafood. On the whole, every dish had nice traditional Thai flavors and the presentation was solid. The prevailing sentiment around the table was that flavor of most entrees was overpowered with salt, especially the cabbage, larb and Tom Yum. About 30% too much salt, in my estimation. The Tom Yum was so concentrated with salt and seafood that it was borderline inedible. It was a shame, because I was otherwise pretty impressed with the experience at Khao Thai. A subtly sweet but not overpowering accompaniment that pairs well with other stir fries and curries as a part of a family meal. - pad kee mao (5/10): wide rice noodles with mixed vegetables. This was okay but i felt like it was too oily for my taste. - stir fried eggplant with Thai basil and tofu (8/10): eggplant stir fried with mixed vegetables and basil in house made stir fry sauce. This was one of the better dishes we ordered. The eggplant is soft and melty but a tad oily. It would also be good with tofu though we chose to do mixed vegetables. WOULD I GO BACK? Not sure. Final Thoughts: 4.30/5 We came here for a simple dinner because there was a boba spot that we wanted to try nearly. Quite crowded for a Friday night. Once we were actually inside, the experience went smoothly. Nothing too notable. Just another casual dinner for my friends and I. Food: Crab Fried Rice: 3.9/5 This is their pan-fried jasmine rice with crab meat, egg, and yellow, and green onions. Seems like a simple enough dish. The seasonings are interesting. The rice has all of the seasoning and they seemed to hold off on all additional seasonings with the crab. To get the best balance of flavors, my recommendation is to mix everything together before consuming. Initially, we just ate it as it came out without mixing, and it was so unbalanced because the rice had all of the seasonings while the crab had none. There's some cucumber slices for crunch and freshness, but I would really prefer the Persian cucumbers. While the seasonings and flavors were there, it was just a little bit too salty for me. I'm definitely not one to salt my food this much, so I didn't each much of this dish compared to the other two. Chicken Massaman Curry: 4.2/5 This dish has chicken thigh in coconut milk curry with potatoes, peanuts, tamarind, and aromatics. They serve it with roti and picked cucumbers. This dish was definitely my favorite. The cut they use is chicken thigh, so it is naturally very tender and just pulls apart. The flavor of the chicken was also nice. That combined with the curry sauce was nice. The roti was crispy and warm. They are a little oily for me, which seems like a normal thing, but I'm just not used to it. The curry sauce was well seasoned and had all of the nice spices incorporated. Perhaps this is not the usual, but I just prefer a thick curry versus a thinned out curry. I think it just coats the meat and I can get more when I dip the roti. Not the biggest concern here because the flavor compensated for it. Pad Thai with Pork: 4.0/5 Second favorite was the pad thai. This is their traditional Thai-style pan-fried rice noodles with egg, tofu, bean sprouts, and green onions. They garnish with fresh bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, and lime. Caution the peanut allergy here. Of note, my friend dislikes bean sprouts, so we typically ask for them to remove that. We chose pork for protein today and it was quite nice. There seems to only be a few pieces of meat, but we had other proteins in the other dishes. The flavor of this dish was really nice and balanced. I like that they seem to use fresh red Thai chilis versus a paste. You can visually see them in the dish too. There is a kick to it, for me, it wasn't overpowering. Menu: Easy to Navigate Their menu looks very simple and their labels/titles are very clear. I like that it is easy to navigate versus some menus looking like a wall of text. Something I also appreciate is their descriptions for each of the items. Helps to visualize each dish. --------- Quality: Made to order These foods came out nice and hot and I did almost burn my tongue on one of them. Not quite ideal, but I like that each dish does come out fresh to order. We did have a little bit of a waiting time, but it seemed worth it in the end. Price: Average Their prices do seem to be average priced items for what is sold. Their portion sizes seem appropriate too. The price range will be around $15 to $20 with a few outlier dishes. This seems normal in the bay area these days. Service/Waiting/Reservations: Simple and fast The service was fairly quick. Note that they do not have a yelp wait list, but they do allow you to make reservations on their website. When we got there, we added our names to the waitlist and stepped out. They were fairly quick with the service and nice overall. Ambiance: Average restaurant Pretty average restaurant. Our table was placed at a very questionable spot though? The other tables seemed like they fit in as a seating table and that's not to say ours was not. It was just placed in a more questionable area. At first, I kind of liked it because we had our own table that was away from the rest of the tables, but my friend pointed out that we are in fact within fairly close proximity to the restroom area. We were far enough and there's this invisible divider, but he was correct about the location being more awkward than anything. Yes, we did have this space around us to ourselves, but there were times where it felt a little off with people just walking in a out of the restroom around us while we were eating. Location/Parking: Big enough parking area This place is located at the corner intersection of Prospect Road and Lawrence Expressway. Cere Tea is located in the same plaza and they have a Trader Joes within the plaza right across from here. The parking space seems optimal. We don't usually have a hard time finding a space here. This place opened up 4 months ago - it is amazing! The food is very unique 5/5 - you will get your regular red/green curry and noodles and rice dishes. But they have some additional section called street food (no veggies dishes in this section - sorry). The cocktails are very unique 5/5 - I liked the sweet kiss, with coconut milk and dragon fruit and sake. The Tom Yum Margarita was also very good. I think they have a beer and wine license, and sake is in that license. Since all cocktails were sake based :) The decor was spectacular! 5/5 new vibe place - logo is super cute. The servers were very polite but seemed over worked. Would be wonderful to get a smile and welcoming feel from them - Asian hospitality, feels like someone is welcoming you home. I came here with some friends for dinner after hearing great things from a coworker a few times. The restaurant looked cute and cozy - nice decorations everywhere. We ended up ordering a few dishes for everyone to try - khao neow moo tod (fried pork), chicken massaman curry, pad see ew, khao soi (egg noodles in curry), som tum salad (papaya), chicken satay and for dessert - mango sticky rice and fried banana w/ice cream. Everything was delicious! My favorites were the som tum salad (something I usually get at Thai places) and the khao neow moo tod. Each of my friends liked a different dish, so it all worked out. The som tum was very refreshing and had a good crispiness to it. The fried pork had a slightly sweet flavor that worked well with the sticky rice and dipping sauce (loved the sauce on the left side!). The mango sticky rice was nicely presented with blue sticky rice (pea flower) and tasted wonderful. Service was quick and friendly and everything was presented in such a beautiful way. This is my new favorite Thai restaurant! I'm still dreaming about their fried eggplant dish. Honestly every dish was such a hit except their Khao Soi noodles (but honestly no one has mastered that outside of Thailand, to my knowledge). All my friends thanked me for dragging them here. It took a little while for the waitresses to greet us, but we didn't mind too much. However, when we were greeted, our waitress gave half our table warm water and half cold cucumber water. All of the waters were in the same glass, which made me think it was a mistake of some sort. For food, we ordered the roti, crispy pork belly, stir fried eggplant, yellow curry, pumpkin curry, pad see ew, and khao fried rice. The roti was ok. All of the pieces were pretty greasy, but it was still enjoyable. The curries were also just ok. For me, they tasted a little bland. The pumpkin curry didn't have a strong pumpkin flavor, but the spice level was perfect. I don't LOVE spicy food, but the medium spice was just the right amount. If I come back, I'll definitely ask for medium spice for all my dishes. The pad see ew was good but nothing special. The standouts were definitely the stir fried eggplant, khao fried rice, and pork belly. The eggplant had good flavor; the fried rice had a good amount of veggies/meat; and the pork belly was cooked perfectly, with flavorful sauces on the side. The workers were attentive and pleasant and it is definitely a nice environment for any occasion. The belly pork was tasty and juicy with a nice crispy skin. The pad Thai was a winner as well. The yellow curry was very tasty and creamy in flavor. For appetizers we had fresh spring rolls and my wife and son loved them! Crispy vegetables surrounding shrimp wrapped by a rice wrapper. How yummy! The Roti was light and airy and TASTY! The service was wonderful! Super friendly people work there all had smiles on and were very nice to talk with. Ambiance is very comfortable and inviting! This is a newish spot on the Saratoga/San Jose border that i was really excited to try. It's located in a strip mall across from the future costco site on Lawrence and Prospect. We came in and were greeted relatively fast. They were clearly understaffed as people were running all over the place doing whatever was needed like bussing, delivering food, making drinks. Fortunately everyone was friendly and the vibe was good so it all turned out ok. The decor and space was super nice and clean. They did a great job with the remodel. Getting our orders in took about 10 minutes but once the food began coming out the rest came pretty fast. The food itself was pretty ok overall. While the crispy pork belly was not crispy the dips it came with were tasty. The papaya salad was large and generous. Curry was ok. Overall happy with the food but definitely not blown away. We will def try again once things get a little more settled. read more

Glad to have a local Thai eatery by us. I stopped in on a Friday night early enough to beat the dinner rush and was seated promptly. Khor Moo Yang (Grilled Pork Neck) The pork neck was fatty and tender at the same time, served with sticky rice and two dipping sauces. The slices were cut thinner than I like. I used to order this in SF at Ler Ros and theirs is my favorite. I was expecting a bit more depth of flavor and between the sauces, I preferred the sweet plum sauce over the spicy one. Overall: 3/5. Pad Kee Mao with Chicken Flat noodles with sweet basil and bell pepper--this dish felt like Pad See Ew's bolder, more flavorful cousin. It had elevated savory notes with a light spicy kick. This has been my go-to dish lately, and they did a solid job. 4/5. Chicken Massaman Curry This was my first time trying Massama curry and I was intrigued by the tamarind. The flavor leaned heavily toward star anise and five-spice, and I didn't get much coconut richness. The chicken arrived as one large piece, slightly cold, and without a knife to cut it. It was served with roti on the side. I'd personally skip this next time and stick with the more classic curries. 2/5. I was mid-way through my meal when I noticed I didn't have chopstick. They have tiny plates for cucumbers and I felt like I was trying to harpoon my cucumber pieces with their heavy fork. Since they were in soft opening I landed on a 3.5. I'd probably come back--this spot is close by, the flavors have potential, and I think they just need some fine-tuning as they settle in. read more

I believe it's from the same owner(s) of Khaosan in Campbell/SJ. Open for takeout, indoor and outdoor dining. M E N U Northern Thai Cuisine (not as spicy as Southern Thai): Apps, street food, soups, salads, curries, rice + noodle dishes, entrees, etc. Soft opening promo: Complimentary Thai Iced Tea. Tea flavor wasn't strong but hey, it's free. The pickled cucumbers with red onions were refreshing while the sticky rice provided a good neutral base. * Pad See Ew: Pan-Fried Flat Noodles w/ Chinese broccoli, carrots, egg, dark soy (Beef-$19.95): https://tinyurl.com/2fmuhbtt - Price varies, depending on protein chosen. While the savory sweet flavor was on point, the flat rice noodles were too wet and didn't have any wok hei (smoky char). Beef was on the tough side. * Pla Neung Manao: Whole Steamed Asian Sea Bass w/ lime, garlic, chili ($35.95): https://tinyurl.com/4vnn6u4s - Takes 20-30 minutes to prepare The sea bass is steamed, placed into an elevated pan with a flame underneath, and the sauce/broth is poured over. Legit bold Thai flavors - mildly spicy, sour, citrusy, garlicky, and herbaceous. The sea bass was overcooked for my preference tho and could have use less steaming time since it continues to cook in the pan. Rice is a must to mellow out the flavors. Maybe you need to ask but I didn't see any Thai condiment caddies: dry chili, chili in vinegar, chili sauce, etc. S E R V I C E Friendly and warm Thai hospitality. Our sweet server even offered water to the pups. Arrived before the weekend lunch rush, pretty prompt food service. A M B I A N C E Modern and minimalist with a semi-open kitchen. As an Indian vegetarian, thai food is always our family's first choice. We have a goto Ghai place, but this time wanted to try a new one and found this. Looking at the great reviews, we were very excited to eat here. Place is very clean and gives an upscale feel. The bar area and open kitchen gives a great modern vibe. Vegetarian menu choices are standard, so we ordered a curry, noodles and Khao Soi. We ordered medium spicy. Order came pretty fast and we dug in. Loved the noodles (that were a tad spicy for medium), liked the Khao Soi but I'd say I have eaten better. Green curry was good as well. All in all average Thai Vegetarian options. read more

A new Thai Restaurant named KHAO Thai Restaurant at 18562 Prospect Rd, Saratoga, CA 95070 is having a soft opening from October 24 thru October 29 with a grand opening on October 30, 2025. My wife and I tried this restaurant and were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The restaurant has been fully remodeled and looks fantastic. The restrooms are really nicely designed with a separate wash station. Everything was spotlessly clean. We ordered: Pineapple Fried Rice Pad Thai Pork Kohl Sol Butterfly Pea Lemonade Everything was cooked to perfection. The taste was incredible and not too spicy (they do give you a side serving of sauce which was really hot-but delicious). The Khol Sol (a soup with krispy noodles) really tasted different than anything I've tried. The lemonade was a bit on the strong side but really good. Pad Thai was some of the best I've tasted but the star of the meal was the pineapple fried rice-absolutely yummy with fresh cut pieces of pineapple, cashews, peanuts, and other items. I was told this is a family owned restaurant and not a chain. The service was stellar as everyone helped out on serving us. I did recommend that they offer sticky rice with mango on the menu. 4.5 Everything was really tasty. The larb was probably the best i have tasted. The flavors were vibrant and everything fresh. Penang curry was good as well. Good flavor. We got mild but will probably kick it up next time. We were not a dan of the crispy curry noodles. The texture of the noodles reminded me of the old "school cup of noodles." The actual curry was good tho. Lastly, the service was excellent and they were playing pop music for background noise. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. read more
