There's lots of reviews that paint Khao as being nice interior/ambiance, but with bland food. I would listen to them. The food looked good, but it really feels like their kitchen hasn't hit their stride yet. I might try them again eventually, but i was disappointed by the service and food this first time around. Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) 6.5/10: Seemed relatively healthy for what this dish is, but gosh the flavor was just wrong. This is one of those foods i just love, so it felt weird trying to eat this rendition. Fried Rice with Chicken 6/10: Bland. Zero wok hei. i don't know, if they tried branding their restaurant as a "healthy" thai shop, i might be more inclined to visit, but their positioning was off trying to identify as a standard thai place in saratoga.

First time trying the place. I saw that Rojo Wraps closed down, this is the restaurant that replaced Rojo Wraps. Food was great! Service was prompt. Love the ambiance, clean and classy. Will go back definitely.

My friend recommended this restaurant, and I'm so glad I came. My first impression was that the place was nice, clean, and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered takeout, including the Green Curry and Thai Basil Chicken. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making the experience even better.I will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. I can't wait for my next visit

I ordered a lunch special and a pad see ew off the regular menu. Both tasted good. I like that it is less oily compared to other Thai restaurants. Flavor was on point. Pad Thai was not too sour. Portion is perfect too! I picked Thai tea with my lunch special. It was not overpower with condensed milk sweetness. Staff is friendly and attentive. The place is quite big with plenty of tables. Decor is new and clean. 10/10 will return.

Kai Tod, 50/50 breading to meat ratio, small amount of meat before breading and frying.

Came here last night with the family after taking pictures. The restaurant itself is in a decently clean plaza, the decor inside was modern and was pretty clean overall. For food we order the roti, pad thai, moo dang and the kai tod. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the pad thai, so I won't be writing a review on that. The roti was probably the best thing we had The curry sauce that came with it was great along with the pickled veggiesI would recommend getting this. 5/5* The kai tod (fried chicken bowl) was good, but portion size was a bit underwhelming the amount of meat that my brother-in-law got was probably half a chicken breast but they were definitely generous on the fried rice on the bottom. 3/5* Finally the Moo Dang, my fiance and I shared this dish and I can say that it was a bit underwhelming. The meat was not juicy at all, a bit on the chewy side, and they essentially put red chasu sauce all over the meat. The fried rice lacks wok flavor if that's what you're looking for and I'm not sure I would recommend this dish 2/5* Ambiance: 4/5* Service: 4/5* Food: 3/5* My rating is solely on the food and not service and ambiance, but add those just for a general sense of the the establishment. P.S. this place charges you 20% for a service fee for parties of 6 or more whereas the norm should be 18%.

This place took over the old Rojoz Wraps storefront. The parking situation can be hit or miss, there was a long line if cars for the mcdonalds drive thru that was hindering traffic into the lot. Luckily, we walked so avoided all of that. They were pretty busy, I did appreciate that the staff weren't hovering over us and only came over when we got their attention. We ordered the chicken pad kee mao, pretty standard. It came out and looked really nice, but when I started eating it, it was soooo salty. I don't think I'll be back, just wasn't to my taste. My partner also thought it was salty and his tolerance is higher than mine. His initial few bites were fine, but at the end, he agreed with me that the dish was too salty.

Always a pleasure to find amazing new Thai food in the South Bay. One of the things that i've always liked about living in the Bay Area is the amazing amount of great food you'll find in strip malls. Khao is no exception. Plenty of parking, a beautiful dining room, great drink options (try the sake), and excellent cuisine at a fair price. A welcome addition to the San Jose/Saratoga/Campbell dining scene. Go here. Eat here. Thank me later.

The service and atmosphere were nice. We had reservations but it wasn't really necessary. The food was ok. Pad Thai was a bit too sour for me but my daughter liked it. The roti was too oily but the yellow curry was very good. We ordered the deep fried sea bass. The flavor was good when you got some of the sauce but there wasnt a lot of it to be all over the fish. Also the sea bass didn't have a lot of meat in it. The pork belly we got was good and actually better the next day as a left over. Overall this place is ok. We wouldn't drive out for it though.

Sat outside at Khao Thai in Saratoga and had a really nice experience overall. The patio is a nice setup--perfect for a casual meal. Food was solid across the board. The pad thai was well-balanced, not overly sweet, and had good texture. The green curry stood out with a rich, flavorful sauce and just the right level of heat. Also tried the basil chicken, which had a nice kick and fresh taste. Service was friendly and efficient.

Stumbled upon this place last night after seeing the lot for Siam Station, my usual goto Thai, crowded. Glad that I did because it was a fantastic experience. Got seated for dinner around 8pm almost immediately. Good mix of the classic dishes, spice levels aligned with expectations, really nice ambiance and decor. Mix of inside and outside seating. A bit understaffed, but they work hard to make the rounds. Decent price at roughly $40/pp Had the beef pad see ew, beef pad kee mao, Thai iced tea, and roti with yellow curry. Everything was delicious. The beef had a nice smoky wok hei taste, noodles were cooked well, and both entrees had just the right amount of vegetables. I'd say it was just enough food for two moderately hungry people. I'd love a bit more curry for the roti though. Maybe I'll opt for a full curry order next time. Looking forward to the next visit and exploring the rest of the menu. Khao Thai, you've got a new regular. See yall soon!

My family made a reservation at Khao Thai restaurant for a Sunday gathering. It is located at the corner of a strip mall facing McDonald's. It was larger and more upscale than I expected. The interior is elegantly designed with bronze, grey and brown hues, laminate wood floors, small trees in planter boxes and exotic light fixtures. Having lived in Hollywood for close to a decade, my expectations when it comes to Thai food are pretty high. Thai Town down there has a lot of variety and many quality restaurants such as Jitlada, Mae Malai, Ruen Pair, Palms Thai, Sapp Coffee, etc. We had a nice corner table for 12 people. The drink menu has sake options, mocktails, Thai iced tea, butterfly pea lemonade and Singha beer but no hard liquor cocktails. I ordered a Mai Tai, which was bright and colorful. It was topped with mint leaves and a Maraschino cherry. The sake blended with the juices smoothly and it was better than expected. We ordered many dishes to be served family-style. We started off with Roti, which was served with a yellow curry sauce. It came out hot and flaky. A nice chewy texture. Next came the Crab Fried Rice. The texture was a bit mushy and the rice was clumped together. The crab was fresh and the flavor was pretty mild. For the next set of dishes, we got the Crispy Pork Belly, Pad Thai, Stir-fried Cabbage, Green Papaya Salad, Chicken Larb with sticky rice and Tom Yum with seafood. On the whole, every dish had nice traditional Thai flavors and the presentation was solid. The prevailing sentiment around the table was that flavor of most entrees was overpowered with salt, especially the cabbage, larb and Tom Yum. About 30% too much salt, in my estimation. The Tom Yum was so concentrated with salt and seafood that it was borderline inedible. It was a shame, because I was otherwise pretty impressed with the experience at Khao Thai. The service was patient and friendly, even as it started getting busier during dinner service.

First time here, and both the service and food were excellent! The lunch Pad Thai could choose spice level and came with iced tea. They were so welcoming to my dog and gave him some water. Highly recommend!

SERVICE - located in San Jose near the westgate shopping complex - large parking lot in front with plenty of spots - interior has ample seating to accommodate large or smaller groups - no wait on a weekday evening - service is good and was able to give us information regarding allergens - food served relatively quickly - ambiance good for a semi casual meal MENU - standard Thai selection of starters and entrees - vegetarian/vegan options available - average price FOOD - yellow curry with tofu (7/10): carrots, potato, onion, and tofu in a creamy coconut curry sauce. This was the only curry that did not have fish sauce. It was creamy and rich with a good amount of vegetables compared to curry sauce. - pineapple fried rice (8/10): fried rice with carrots, peas, pineapples, raisins, and cashews. A subtly sweet but not overpowering accompaniment that pairs well with other stir fries and curries as a part of a family meal. - pad kee mao (5/10): wide rice noodles with mixed vegetables. This was okay but i felt like it was too oily for my taste. - stir fried eggplant with Thai basil and tofu (8/10): eggplant stir fried with mixed vegetables and basil in house made stir fry sauce. This was one of the better dishes we ordered. The eggplant is soft and melty but a tad oily. It would also be good with tofu though we chose to do mixed vegetables. WOULD I GO BACK? Not sure. It's a decent option if you want Thai food in the area but i would not go out of my way to seek it.

Our favorite dish was the pad thai with chicken. Tamarind sauce was spot on for pad thai. We loved the tanginess was perfect. After our meal it was surprisingly difficult to find anyone to attain boxes for our leftovers let alone pay our tab. Owner is friendly and respectful. For me, a great marker of excellent Thai food is the meat quality. We did chicken and ground chicken for our entrees and both tasted fresh and well-prepared and they were very generous with their meat portions across pad ke mao, their tom yum fried rice, and the panang curry. The chicken satay was also especially good. Of the entrees, I have to give the edge to the pad ke mao; their stir fried proteins are next level. Definitely will be trying this spot again, I'm excited to try their pad see ew and their basil entree.

AN OFF DAY 4.0…read more It seems like finding excellent Thai food is becoming more difficult these days. This place is probably one of the better options in the area. We enjoy coming here, but our most recent visit left us a bit underwhelmed. We ordered Thai Iced Teas (which were unfortunately served in clear plastic to-go cups), Mama's Egg Rolls, Crab Fried Rice, and Panang Curry with Beef. The standout dish was the Crab Fried Rice. We couldn't see any noticeable chunks of crab, but it was wonderfully seasoned. Where they fell short was in the service and ambiance. Within a minute of being seated, a server stopped by to take our order. When we asked for a little more time, no one returned, and we eventually had to flag someone down. During our meal, no one came by to check on us or ask how everything was. Perhaps it was because there didn't seem to be an assigned server for our table: one person took our order, another delivered the food, and someone else brought the bill. After finishing our meal, we sat for quite a while waiting. Fortunately, we weren't in a hurry. We eventually had to wave someone over for boxes and our check. As for the ambiance, the decor wasn't the issue. It was the loud music coming from the kitchen competing with the music playing in the dining room. The combination was distracting and not particularly pleasant. Unless they are intentionally going for a "street food" vibe, it's not something customers should have to experience. We will continue to dine here, but hope management takes note and makes improvements in these areas.

No need for a reservation Sunday during brunch but it's good to make one just in case. I arrived at 12:30pm and outdoor seating was full with two parties seated inside. AMAZING! So fluffy and hot-- everything you'd want in a pancake. I don't like ricotta much, especially on pizza, but they make it so smooth like a liquid icing but creamy yellow with yuzu essence. They're known for these for a reason. Corn ribs were DELICIOUS! Buttery and savory with a creamy aioli dip. I ate three pieces and could've eaten more. *Could've Been Better: Chicken noodle tomyum soup barely had any shredded chicken. Maybe some chopped chicken cubes would've worked out. It had typical noodles for chicken soup. It was also not sour or spicy like typical tomyum. All sweet and tomatoey. Tofu Scramble needed more seasoning? Potatoes were good. I should've tried the house marmalade on the bread. They keep some in the little jar on the table. Darla French Toast was excellently executed. Picturesque. It tasted more like bread pudding, slightly undercooked in the middle and would've been great with a crisp exterior for texture contrast. Service was fine with polite smiles. They leave you alone for the most part. Little vase of flowers is an adorable touch. There is parking in the back but good luck on weekends. Great place to walk around and explore local shops.
