First I want to start with, the service was great and the place was nice and clean. My ribs were a little dry but they do serve you a full rack which is hard to find anymore. If you like being treated rudely this is your place. After a while we found out the guy who was the biggest jerk near the bar was the owner. I have been to the saloon part a few times about a year ago. Yet this last Sunday I went to eat here. The ribs were awesome the red beans and rice with sausage pieces rocked and the mac and cheese like a grandma would make. This is my new favorite BBQ in the Syracuse region. Also my fiance and I am are having our rehearsal dinner here since we both were impressed with great service and great food with lots of space up stairs for our event. We have ordered take out several times from Krabby Kirk's. It has always been decent, until last night. Ordered a catfish sandwich. When we opened it it was a piece of cold overly breaded fish. No bun, lettuce or tomato as advertised. The side was BBQ baked beans--they were freezing cold and looked like they were scraped from the bottom of a burnt pan--inedible. The ribs were good--the side of beans again inedible! The side of coleslaw was good. Overall we were very disappointed! read more

Don't GO! We went there for lunch, ordered a sandwich with an extra piece of bacon (additional charge). It was raw. When I asked, the waitress said it was smoked and was okay. I asked to see the person (cook, etc.) who put it on my sandwich and bring a similar piece of "smoked" bacon. They did, I asked that they eat the "smoked" bacon. They refused!! Wed afternoon. 5pm. I'm the ONLY patron in the bar or the dining area except 2 people picking up to-go orders. I order wings and then explain to the bartender that I am meeting someone in 15 minutes so could she put in the order for the wings first, then, when the wings are served, put in an order for the pulled pork quesadilla. I even explain that I am mtg someone and want the quesadilla for he and I to split. I say to her: "Sound like a plan?" She says: "Got it." 10 minutes later she brings the wings to me, along with the quesadilla. "Sorry" she says, "the plan didn't work out. If you want, I can reheat the quesadilla when your friend gets here." Even better was when I was paying my bill ($20.97) and I gave her $25...she asked me if I wanted change. With the lousy servce I rcvd and she basically is asking me for a 20% tip??? Ironically that my wife arrived with her girlfriends eating separate fm me and my friend and when she came home later, she started telling me of the lousy service she rcvd and the lousy service that the table behind her rcvd--and she didn't yet know of my experience! I've had sub-standard service every visit--good luck Kirk--but you won't succeed in Camillus if this is what you provide to your customers. . read more

My wife's chicken was rancid! The good: The atmosphere, BBQ beans, and the BBQ sauce. The bad: I ordered tonic and lime and my wife ordered soda with lemon. The slices of lime and lemon where so thin I could see through them! My wife's cucumber salad was mushy and she wouldn't even try it. Her ribs were dry, and her corn bread had a funny taste (we both tried it), but my corn bread was somehow OK. I have a smoker and I've smoked brisket a few times. They advertise that their brisket is smoked for 13 hours but there is no way it was smoked for even one minute! It had no smoked flavor at all, and there was no evidences of a smoke ring. The ugly: My wife's chicken (she got the combo platter) was rancid! She thought maybe it was from the corn bread when she first ate it, then I tried it and spit it out. It was literally rancid! We should have known it wasn't going to be good when the food was served within 5 minutes of ordering it. The only reason I gave Krabby Kirk's one star is because I can't give it a negative number of stars. NEVER AGAIN will we eat there. The person who wrote it is the best BBQ in Onondaga county has never been to Dinosaur or Limp Lizard. There is absolutely no comparison. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant several times and it has been ok. Last night there were 3 of us. I got the prime rib sandwich, with mac and cheese. The mac and cheese tasted like it had too much flour and no cheese. The prime rib was cool and I took 2 bites. It tasted like there was something wrong with it. They offered to give me something different but that meat made me loose my appetite and I didn't care to eat more. The other meal was bbq and it was all greasy. All sauces tasted watered down. I assumed I would not be charged for a meal that was inedible. However when our check came it was on there. We questioned the waitress about it being on and she said she talked to the manager about it and he said no discount. We called the manager to our table and told him that it was awful and we didn't expect to be charged. He said the owner did not allow for any refunds on foods. We asked to speak to the owner but he never came to the table. He was hiding somewhere making pizzas. The other waitress told us he was not there but we saw him earlier when we came in, so obviously this something they are told to do. Two of us ended up sick after this meal. This restaurant has gone so far downhill and had about 10 patrons in it. This included bar and restaurant together. And on a Friday night with live music. This treatment is the worst I have ever had in restaurant - the manager argued with us instead of saying I am sorry that you didn't enjoy it. Never an apology, after we complained, the waitress put the check on our table and didn't say a word, and the owner never had the nerve to show his face. And by the way if this is the best BBQ you have ever tasted in Onondaga County - you need to go to Dinosaur. read more

Young waitress was extremely inept. I was there with a small group and she scribbled our orders down on small pieces of paper. Of course some came back wrong.One of us ordered a burger with no cheese and it had the cheese on it when she placed it on the table. I ordered a julienne salad and actually got the southwestern salad with the smoked, grilled rib meat on top of it. When I brought it to her attention, she just smiled and told me that it was a julienne salad, all their salads were like that....???? The fact that they refused separate checks for us didn't help either. The food was "adequate" but I really wasn't that happy with the experience as a whole (except for the people I went there with). I have eaten Krabby Kirks food many times and it is very good, I have not eaten in the establishment but always had ordered on the phone for a pick to take home. Well, every time I did this-the order was messed up in some way. We would not get our sauces, the next time they got the side dishes wrong, next time they didn't give us our side dishes at all. Every time we called for an order we would ask for the Buffalo Burger(-my daughter never had one and wanted to try one) they didn't have it-they were out of it and did not know when they would get it in. We were upset that these things were happening every time,who's in charge there? does anyone check the orders and make sure they are done correctly? If you want people to come back and keep them coming-you need to get some order in there and stop with the mistakes every time. I can understand the one or two times but everytime? it's annoying and it's too bad because the place has great food and it's nice to have a different BBQ place with different food in the area, especially in the winter time(different taste to have in the season),do not know when I will go back. Went to Krabby Kirk's on Friday and had a fantastic meal. They serve their pastrami sandwich at dinner time and it was out of this world. It was served on a special made dark rye bread and it was tender and tasty. My wife had the smoked chicken which was juicy and so tender that it was falling apart. The brined chicken had been smoked for several hours with hickory wood then chargrilled with barbecue sauce till the coating on the chicken was carmalized- absolutely delicious. Betty finished up with collard greens that were perfectly cooked and had a spicy liquid flavor. My son finished his meal which was called the Beef Brisket Bomber. The Bomber was topped with hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and sauteed mushrooms. And of course, we used Krabby's homemade barbecue sauce to top it off. All in all, our meals were superb. The waitress brought out the cook so we could compliment him on his work. If you are into barbecue then Krabby's is the place to go. It's not a steak house but a slathering smoke house. read more

My wife and I ate there Friday evening 16 Dec 11. She had pastrami sandwich (not listed on the menu) which was good tasting, but.not warm. I ordered brisket sandwich which was also tasty, but absolutely cold! Her sandwich was served on a plate, mine came in a plastic basket with a paper liner on bottom. The sandwich was too big to pick up and the paper was soggy and decomposing so cutting and using fork was not a good option. Even the two draft beers we tried were semi-flat and tasted weak. The place was moderately busy so we were relegated to the "annex" which was very cold, quite dark and totally devoid of decoration or ambiance. Every patron in the annex was wearing a coat. Disappointing experience, no atmosphere, Would not go again and will not recommend to friends. Owner came through and said "something is wrong with the heat - sorry" - though at least he would have offered a little something more than sorry! Not looking for a free meal, just maybe some chips or something small as a gesture. If you still decide to try it, eat in the small front bar area where you can at least see what you eat and be a little warmer. The room behind the bar appeared somewhat nicer than the annex, but was also uninviting. read more

As a nearby neighbor in the Village of Camillus, I like to support local businesses, so ate several times at Krabby Kirk's after it opened. I also used to recommend to friends to go there. The food was ok. Unfortunately, I will not go again, not because of the food, but because of negative impact it has on people living within the Village of Camillus. If you are anywhere near the center of the village on a spring/summer/autumn evening, you will often hear the noise from bands, karaoke, and rowdy patrons, especially from the back deck. Often the drunk patrons come out onto West Genesee Street, and make considerable noise, as well. It is frightening to know that these people then drive through the village to get home, inebriated. Not to mention that they also have a "Biker Night", and the noise from the motorcycles coming and going adds another level to the noise. The noise often goes on until the bar closes. When the noise level from a local business disrupts the surrounding area, keeps adults and children from sleeping at night, and inappropriate behavior is not uncommon for it's patrons...there is a problem which needs a solution. For village residents, this bar is often a loud and disruptive part of the community. It is a shame, because having good quality local businesses makes for a healthy community. Sadly this business has two personalities, a relatively positive one during the day, and a disruptive, noisy, negative one at night... read more

The layout and ambiance are great, also great food and the best french fries I have ever had! The problem is, if you stop in for a drink at the bar, none of that will matter. The bartenders are rude, make no qualms about it even when called out on it, and will ignore you until they rush you out. That is, unless you are a single man. Then they will work overtime for your tips. But if you are a woman or a couple, don't even bother sitting down at the bar. Our bartender literally greeted us with "what do you want?" and she actually managed to take it downhill from there. read more

Was in town for SuperDirtWeek 2012, Passed by Krabby's Kirk's Saloon and Just had to stop the smell was unbelieveable. I had a bacon cheeseburger w/ and side of French Fries, Burger was juicy and fries we great, my buddy had a Brisket Bomber w/ and side of Mac and Cheese, Awesome food and the Mac and cheese is wounderful, just like mom used to make. We ordered the alligator bites as an appetizer which were delicious. However the portion is insultingly tiny. I would be surprised if there was even one ounce of the product on our plate. The Brisket was so dry it was almost inedible. I do not prefer their baked bean recipe either as they taste sour and over-spiced. The BBQ sauce bottle was sticky and overflowing. I have eaten here twice and both times the food was subpar. It's pretty clear that most of the menu is frozen, food is over salted, the brisket is tough, but the BBQ sauce is good. The service was good, great atmosphere but desperately needs a new cook. Instead of this establishment taking constructive criticism, the owner became defensive and called my family liars. You know when you have not been back to a restaurant in a long while, but you really don't remember why? I decided to give KK a try again after at least a year. I had done one or two takeouts in the mean time, but no dine in. Last night I decided to stop in and grab dinner at the bar. The place was nearly empty at 6pm. Two guys at the bar, a table of women in the back. I ordered the beef brisket bomber with BBQ beans and a beer. I was surprised when the sandwich came at how small the portion was. Now this is one sandwich I had before as takeout and was so impressed with its size I deconstructed it and tossed it on the kitchen scale to see how much cow I had gotten. I do not remember the numbers, but it was almost double the meat that was sitting in this sad thing in front of me. The "thick cut bacon" was there, a meager two slices, and it was dry and had that "fresh from the fridge" taste to it. Not impressed. My only hope was the beans...they did not save the meal. While flavorful, they were, while not "hard" let's just say "overly firm". They could have cooked a while longer. Well, looks like my next venture for BBQ will be to give Mo's a try, or head in to Limp Lizard. It is a shame, because Kirk's is close to home...but I will find another place for my BBQ westside. read more

We recently moved to the area, and saw ads for this place on TV and have driven by dozens of times before we recognized it. We love bbq, so we stopped about 2 weeks ago on a Monday but got to the door and saw the sign that it is closed on Monday. On this Saturday night my wife wanted to go out to dinner and insisted we go here. It is a large place, with a big 2-story deck in the back. It was dinner time, but there weren't many people there dining. We went inside and sat at a table and were promptly greeted, we ordered drinks and given menus. There is a good variety of BBQ dishes, and combos, many of them have brisket in some form, which my wife was craving. So as we settled on our choices, the waitress returned for our order and THEN informed us...they were OUT of Brisket! You have to be kidding..A BBQ place that doesn't have brisket, which is in like a quarter of the BBQ menu items, on a Saturday night?! And they are still in business?? OK, so she ordered the 1/2 chicken and I settled on what was supposed to be a 1/2 lb. burger. Our food was promptly served, and she thought the chicken was very tasty. My burger had a decent taste, cooked to order but was nothing special, the 1/2 lb. must include the bun and trimmings...It came with fries which were a bit on the soggy side..so it was a disappointing visit to eat at a place promoting BBQ and then not being able to deliver what it promotes. Service was good, the waitress was attentive. Sorry Krabby, but your name reflects how we felt. We won't go back, there's better places that deliver what they advertise. read more

We stopped here on the advice of a friend and ended up being quite disappointed. The place is quite attractive and our waitress was exceptionally nice. The food, however, was a letdown. My husband had the ribs which he described as mediocre, the potato salad which he described as fair, and the mac and cheese which he actually liked. I, on the other hand, had the grilled chicken sandwich, which came to me practically raw. I've been served undercooked chicken before which was pink inside that I've had to send back, but this was RAW in the middle. Once I sent it back and it came back to me cooked, I managed to eat it. Plus, I found their BBQ sauce to be too spicy for my taste, so I found myself scraping it off the chicken before I could eat it. I also had the baked beans which seemed to have lots the same spicy sauce so I wasn't fond of those either, but that is a personal taste issue. HORRIBLE PLACE!!! Looks can be deceiving and this is exactly the case when dealing with Krabby Kirk's. The bar and restaurant area itself looks like a nice place, however, food and owner are extremely disappointing. Be wary of reviews for this place on any site - I was sitting at the table next to the bar and heard/watched the owner tell his employees to make up names and write positive reviews with 5 stars because of the negative feedback on his Facebook page. What a sneaky and underhanded thing to do to try to get customers - here's a thought just make good food and deliver excellent service and the crowds will follow I promise! We ordered a catfish platter which was absolutely horrible, a chicken sandwich, and a pork and brisket platter. The amazing thing was even though it was clearly not busy here with only two tables in the entire place, our food came out in record time... but way too quickly. When I asked the waitress how it was so quickly I was informed most of the food is just heated up. This place is a joke and it is an insult to our region to read that Krabby Kirks is as good or better than Dinosaur BBQ. Trust me when I say that McDonalds Mcribs are better then this place. read more
