I have driven past the place several times and the parking lot has always been full. I finally stopped in to find out for myself why there was always a crowded parking lot. I was concerned about the wait time but there is plenty of seating available. We were seated immediately and in a few minutes our waitress was at our table. Great service! The seafood was soooo good! The Sutchi is a white non-fishy tasting fish that is really good. We tried the combination platter so we could try a little bit if everything and we enjoyed it all! The coleslaw wasn't my favorite but the hush puppies are good. We have been wanting to try this place ,today was that day..the parking lot was packed so we almost left but decided no not this time..the place looks small from the outside but huge with a few back rooms so plenty of room..we started with gumbo and it is delicious..I had the combo shrimp and crab claws, hubby had the large crab claw order..they were so big about size of small chicken wings..the shrimp is lightly breaded just the way I like it and so tasty..as were the crab claws..now I like fries but these were beyond good ..not greasy, nothing was ,but crispy on the outside and like mashed potatoes inside,these were honestly the best I have ever tasted..the Cole slaw was very flavorful as well..and those yummy hushpuppies.. I really wish we had tried this place much earlier instead of some of the greasy awful tasting seafood restaurants we did try..this is our seafood place no need to try anywhere else..plusat the other places I always got a stomachache after eating but not at this restaurant ..oh the seafood is sooo fresh as it is delivered daily and they have fishing boats..we can't wait to go back I hear the chicken tenders are outstanding.. read more

I'm a out of town visitor, but I'm from The New England area and my perspective on Kramers Seafood is relative to the best fried seafood places in the Northeast. My scoring system is 3 is good, 4 is a place worth driving 30 minutes to, and 5 is best in class - a meal that you should experience. Kravers is the kind of seafood restaurant that I love - simple, family style eating. I ordered a three way combo plate of fried tail on shrimp, crab claws, and oysters. The shrimp is the star. If I had the opportunity to go back, I would just order shrimp. The oysters were small and cooked to the point where they were almost dry (the fried oysters at Wacky Shrimp were much jucier). The crab claws were also cooked to very dry. The combo plate had a lot of crab claws and relatively few shrimp and oysters. Also, everything came out on the dark side - which suggested to me that they don't change out their oil during the day (one of the best places in New England changes out their oil twice a day). As I said, if I were to go back, I'd just order a container of fried tail on shrimp and try some of the boiled shrimp. Overall, I'd give Kravers 3.5. read more

On a recent golf trip to the Gulf Shores area, my best friend and I decided to stop in for a quick seafood lunch before round number one. The plan was for each of us to order a bowl of gumbo and split a full order of their fried shrimp po-boy. We started the meal off with the gumbo, accompanied by a big glass of sweet tea. The gumbo had a great flavor with plenty of seafood chunks and served with saltine crackers. I thought it was a bit odd to serve the gumbo in a Styrofoam container...why "waste" these bowls and not use real bowls? A bit odd... Deciding to share the full-sized po-boy was absolutely the right call, as it was actually two whole sandwiches on the same plate! A simple set-up...fried shrimp, mayo, lettuce and tomato on a grilled roll. The sandwiches were literally overflowing with shrimp which were cooked just right (hot and crispy). The bun was a shining star in the concoction, but gave its all trying to hold all the ingredients together, Glad we stopped by here as the meal was both delicious and affordable. read more

If you are in the Daphne area or want to get away from the tourist eating establishments of downtown Mobile, try this place. The seafood was delicious. We had the steamed shrimp. We never had steamed shrimp before! It wasn't what I was use to back home in South Louisiana but it was still just as great. Our appetizer was an order of fried green tomatoes. This is the place to try them! They were cut to bite size pieces and crispy, not soggy and floppy like other places. Like our waitress said "no one wants a soggy tomato". She was right! Our little had a kids hamburger and fries. We brought half of it home for her to finish it later. The waitress was sweet, attentive and helpful. She was kind, funny, and made us feel welcomed to the area. The place was clean. The manager (or owner) stopped by our table to check in on us. Not many places take the time to do that and it is welcomed when they do take the time to make sure their guests are ok. Overall, it was a pleasurable dining experience. The service was good, but the food was a mixed bag. The fried shrimp and oysters were good, properly seasoned and fried. The scallops, either fried or grilled, had poor texture. They were mushy and unpleasant to eat. Frozen too long? I don't know, but texture is usually one of the best things about good scallops, and these were mushy. The fried scallops' coating was too salty, as well. The French fries were uninteresting crinkle-cut things that were not close to being crisp. Overall, the food was just okay. I have yet to find seafood that comes close to the delicious and fresh offerings at Kravers. I have lived on The Gulf Coast for my entire life and cannot settle for less than Kravers now. I always take guests from out of our area to Kravers and they leave in awe of how seafood should taste. Knowing that they locally source their seafood daily from Bayou La Batre (yes, as in Forrest Gump) is telling of the care and pride that they place in each bite. Their Gumbo is so perfect that my mother rarely makes hers from scratch because Kravers is just as good and cheaper than buying the ingredients. Their crab claws are huge and lightly fried (or blackened) to a level of perfection I have never seen. I could list every menu item and tell you how amazing it is, but I don't have time ‍ It is ALL good - no, it is ALL AMAZING! There is nothing on their menu that isn't absolutely delicious. I have family that regularly drive from other counties just to eat dinner at Kravers. Oh, I can't forget to mention their Ranch.
