We have purchased doughnuts from North Myrtle Krispy Kreme for years. The filled doughnuts are terrible now. We bought a dozen this week and might as well bought plain doughnuts! There was little to no filling in any doughnut! This is probably the last we will buy from them! Since Covid, this Krispy Kreme store has hit rock bottom! We go to the original Krispy kreme in Winston Salem, NC and they are great. So are most others! Prices have gone higher and quality is terrible! No wonder few customers Are there when we went! I like this diner. I dropped by for some tea to go with my lunch, and a good, safe place to enjoy them -- and Krispy Kreme delivered! I found the restaurant to be clean and accommodating, with smiling, personable staff that were quick with my order. Then, armed with my hot tea, I proceeded to the sun-struck patio, where I had my little picnic with the company of a good book, watching North Myrtle Beach hum by on Highway 17. And finally, once I was done, I found the men's room to be as clean and satisfying as the rest of the place. Life was good. Peaceful contentment. A kind of Zen. Severely understaffed!! 2 people working and line is wrapped around the building and down the street. Drive through only. Only option is glazed. No other doughnuts available. No coffee or drinks available. Music is blaring inside when you pull up to window - speaker doesn't work so you just pull up and tell the guy how many. He did stop to let in a friend who knocked on the window and talked for a few minutes. It took 30 min to get a dozen - I would have left but I was trapped in line. Ridiculous!! The great thing about a chain is that you know what to expect. Things are never great, but they're also generally never awful. Usually. I'm fairly certain that re-using coffee grinds is a cardinal sin, but that's what they were doing here when I stopped by. It was impressive that they managed to make coffee taste so bad. I don't understand the Krispy Kreme obsession - to me it just tastes like sugar coated blandness, but whatever. That's a thing people like. But no one likes twice-brewed coffee. Fun fact: they had a bunch of milk cartons lined up on the counter, aka not being refrigerated, while I ate my donuts and caught up with my work emails. This place is crowded when the sign is on, but the staff is used to it and handles the influx well. This shop has the big doughnut machine visible through big plate glass windows - my 5-year-old loved it! I will start with saying the donuts we received were great. We got a bad batch from another location earlier in our trip and were hoping it was a low oil temp fluke. We had to go through the drive thru since the lobby was closed. Instead of picking out our donuts, I requested 1 dozen assorted with no fruit flavors. The employee stated they did not understand my request, so I repeated it with some more detail. He then told me they didn't have any fruit options. Ok, then no problem. Went through the window because dining room was closed due to short staffing. Presented coupon but was told it didn't qualify. I told them I thought any dozen qualified. Since almost all the Krispy Kremes have left our fair Chicago area, this is the first KK I have had the pleasure of visiting in probably about 2 years. The doughnuts lived up to the majesty I have remembered. Not that I am particularly proud of this fact, but I probably polished off 3 of these treats in about 3 minutes. Oops! Just a warning that the posted prices are not what you're being charged. I ordered a donut and a small cappuccino, which should have totaled about $3.30 according to the signs. The young guy at the register said $6 something. I reiterated my order, thinking that he heard it wrong and told him that it wasn't $6. He called over a woman who reran the order, and made change from the ten that I had given the young guy. I looked at the receipt, and they charged me $2.49 for the cappuccino when the board said $1.69. I'm almost speechless. So we went to our local KK for some hot-n-now and a mixed dozen like we do a couple times a week every week. We've had stale doughnuts, hard doughnuts, good and poor service but tonight they reached new highs in... doltishness. My wife yelled out "we are ready to order" and "hello" a few times and finally we hear some ask to take our order. As my wife starts to order we hear "It's my birthday" come across the speaker. We look at each other and my wife replies happy birthday and says we are ready to order. First a dozen glazed and then we want a mixed dozen.. 6 lemon filled and 6 custard filled with chocolate icing (our usual order). "We don't have lemon filled." So we changed the order. 6 chocolate iced custard filled, 3 cake batter, and 3 strawberry. the reply. "You can't get that. You got to get 6". Ok so... 6 strawberry and 6 chocolate iced custard filled. The reply "we don't have strawberry". This is where it really started going down hill. It's like my wife or the person taking the order were speaking different languages but oddly enough it was English. When my wife said chocolate iced custard filled the reply was "we don't have sprinkles". My wife NEVER said anything about Sprinkles! No! That's not what I said. Simple 6 custard filled chocolate iced, 3 apple filled, and 3 cake batter. (We finally got past the 6 doughnut minimum). So over 20 minutes of our lives and $21 wasted away we got a deformed hot dozen, 3 glazed with chocolate icing, 3 apple cinnamon and 3 cake batter. Still not exactly what we ordered but since the person taking our order didn't speak the language or didn't understand or was otherwise occupied celebrating his birthday or whatever... well, looks like Dunkin just got a couple new customers! Best advertising they could ever hope for is this location of Krispy Kreme. Seriously, whoever owns this franchise (it has to be a franchise) should invest in some training for the management and staff. You are only making it because this is a tourist town but you are giving Krispy Kreme a bad name across the nation. read more

Pulled at the drive through with 7 minutes til closing. Young heavy set African American girl comes to the window & gives the notorious "we're closed" hand gesture. As I begin to tell her she still has 7 minutes til close, she asks me to repeat myself. So I do She then proceeds to tell me "they go by their time inside". I tell her there's no way our (mine & Krispy Kreme)clocks have that much of a difference in time. My fiancé pulls off at that point. I run a business & my employees know if a customer walks in the door with 1 minute left of operation, you serve that customer. Poor operations, poor oversight & poor management here. Didn't think it was possible to get a bad KK doughnut. Ordered 1 dozen . 1/2 chocolate iced and 1/2 glazed chocolate cake. I can't imagine how the doughnuts could taste somold...but they did. Chocolate icing missing in areas. Very cold as if they had been refrigerated. Didn't open box until we were back at hotel 4 mikes away. Really should have taken them back. Sunday nite, 20 minute drive, 20 minute wait in line, 1 dozen assorted only this time I ask for 4 cream filled and be sure to check them. I don't like lemon filled. Son in law gets a dozen regular and 2 glazed cream filled. 20 minutes back to condo, 20 minutes for elevator and....now we got 6 lemon filled glazed donuts. Monday nite I take back the 4 lemon donuts which I cut open and asked what they were going to do about this situation. they gave me 4 glazed cream filled and said I could cut them open and check them if I want.
