Krispy Kreme is a fun place to stop by for a sugar charge. We tried the the three piece custom assortment, with a filled chocolate doughnut, a chocolate with sprinkles and a cake batter. The cake batter was the special offering. It was very sweet, but did taste a lot like cake batter with a rich vanilla taste. We paired our treat with water, but I would have gotten a coffee. The service was fast and friendly, and they were pretty busy that evening. One thing I did notice was that some of the tables were sticky, and we had to move around to find one that was clean. Since we don't have a Krispy Kreme where I am from, we make it a point to always stop to pick some up when we're out of town. Unfortunately this Krispy Kreme did not live up to its expectations. The light was on as we pulled in so I thought we would be getting fresh warm doughnuts. This was not the case. The doughnuts I received seemed to have been sitting for some time. They were not even soft. They were more on the dry side. I will not bash Krispy Kreme because of this but they do have to do better. I have never had any issues with their doughnuts but this time they did not live up to expectations. I was so excited to see the "Hot Doughnuts " neon blazing as we approached the Krispy Kreme on IH10. And, yes, the doughnut was a delicious, fresh, sugary pillow of goodness on a cold day. The beauty of that start was quickly shattered by the rubbery, tough, tasteless bread of the kolaches we ordered. It must be the microwave that was the very efficient killer of what should have been a tender kolache. Once I was able to muscle through the hard exterior, the insides were too minuscule, too hot and too burnt, again I blame the microwave, to even finish or enjoy. I know Krispy Kreme struggles to stay in business in this day of low carb, no sugar, high protein diet mania, but its version of a kolache is not a way to compete. read more

Currently the lobby is closed to customers, so you can't get the "how it's made" for the original glazed. Drive-thru is currently the only way to order and pay for your food. When a promotion is happening, expect an extended line of cars from the drive-thru and a rather long wait. Note that multiple people can redeem a promotion (they have an app now) for the same car; the promotions will be rung up separately. Since it's fall, pumpkin-flavored donuts are the seasonal items. They ran out of pumpkin spice cheesecake filled, so I can't evaluate that, but the pumpkin spice cake donut is a must. Other regular recommends include all of their cake donuts and their chocolate glazed (Friday only). If you ever go abroad, specifically Asia, get the matcha donuts. Krispy Kreme USA please get with it (jk lol). I'll be coming back for those seasonal donuts (and the sour cream which was apparently out) - also to watch that donut making machine! read more

I always enjoy watching the machines make the doughnuts. Every one likes a free doughnut as well. We specifically went in to try out the new pumpkin spice cake doughnuts!! They were worth the drive. So yummy. This particular restaurant is a bit in need of some maintenance. From the outside it is not clear whether or not it is even open. We've been going to this specific location for years. It was a favorite treat of my sons. My favorite donut comes out in the fall, pumpkin spice. There was a time recently that my family and I were driving by and we saw the hot fresh light on. This motivated us to go get our free, hot, glazed donuts and pickup two dozen donuts. We had friends staying with us so we thought it would be fun to share with their family donuts to share with them. We had not expected to stop here so I did not have the necessary medical equipment for me walk into the store (walker). Also my pain level was extremely high. For these reason my husband opted to make our purchase via the drive thru. We placed our order and pulled up to the drive thru window. We were quickly greeted by an employee who processed our payment. We waited a few minutes and the employee returned with the donuts we purchased. As my husband accepted the boxed donuts he asked the employee "Are the free donuts in the box?" The employee explained "The free donuts are only for people who come into the store." My husband (who is always polite, always kind) explained "Its not physically possible for my disabled wife to get into the store. The only reason we decided to come and purchase donuts was because we wanted the free freshly made glazed donuts." Long story short, the employee would not make any effort to accommodate us based on my disability. I was absolutely shocked that the employee chose to fight with us over something so trivial. I can understand not wanting people to tie up your drive thru with free donut handouts. I also understand that the free donut offer is to help generate more sales. I'm sure there's a correlation between higher sales point occurring inside the store. Trust me I get it. But there's also an entirely necessary factor called customer satisfaction. We had explained to the cashier that the only reason we purchased our two dozen donuts is because of the free hot glazed donuts being offered. We explained that it was physically impossible for me to come into the store right then and yet the cashier remained unwilling to accommodate us. We are talking about less then $1 of expense to the franchise and the employee decided being a right-fighter was much more important then accommodating a paying customer. I don't know if all of Krispy Kreme changed their policy but now not offering a free doughnut makes the experience that much less special. The person that got my donuts was not very friendly and I guess half their equipment was broken, no lattes and only one kind of kolache's left. I understand that sometimes your equipment breaks or you run out of things but please give your customer in option rather than just blatantly saying no we don't have that. For those of you that never had one you must try a Krispy Kreme Original donut! What makes Krispy Kreme glazed donut special is because they stay soft for the rest of their shelf life even when put it in the fridge! The donuts are great tasting too. Each bite, I can taste the dough flavor to it that slowly dissolves in my mouth. I have realized that glazed donuts are the only ones that stay soft while the other donuts with a thicker texture do not stay as soft but nontheless they are still softer then regular donuts. The glazed sour dough is a good example. They tasted so much better when warmed in a toaster oven. A dozen regular glazed donuts are $6.49 with tax included in it, so that is approximately $0.60 a piece. That is well worth it. A dozen combo is $7.49. They close late 10PM or midnight depending on day. They have wifi here and a drive thru. I bought a dozen to bring back to Houston because that is how much I love Krispy Kreme! read more
