First time here, I was a bit overwhelmed because it was sooooo many options to choose from. I ended up getting the Krunchbox 6pc nuggets with wedges and a biscuit. And I also got the 5pc wing with biscuit. Overall the chicken was a bit too salty but very flavorful. The wedges were good and the honey biscuit was great. I was craving some fried chicken for dinner, but really did not want anything boned in. I have seen this place many times when I filled up gas at the ARCO nearby, so I decided to give this place a shot. There is no place to dine in and everything is take out (makes sense for Covid). They have an electronic menu while also paper specials plastered everywhere near the register. They do have a special combo to add a small side and a drink to any meal. (And this is actually cheaper then purchasing their chicken sandwich combo meal). Chicken Sandwich: Because of the honey, this is a little sweet. I like sweet though, so it does not bother me at all. It was crispy and crunchy, hence their namesake. And the price was fair for the amount I got. Comparing it to other chicken sandwiches, I found it quite tasty. Fries: They offer potato wedges here. They were crispy as well. Sucks that only ketchup is free and you have to pay extra for the other assorted dipping sauces. Coleslaw: A bit creamy for me. My expectation was that this was a crispy chicken sandwich and mostly sandwich kind of place. Yelp review prompt has this right: the definition of hole in wall... I don't know what they put in their batter, but the product lives up to the restaurant name, crispy and crunchy even after it got cold. Juiciest white meat and the moisture did not sog the coat. Loved the honey biscuits that struck a good balance between sweet and salty, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Didn't think much of their fries/wedges, these did not stay crispy crunchy. Krispy Krunchy only has one flavor of chicken. The products are not spicy but the Cajun can still give you a little kick. A little bit too salty IMO but still finger lickin good. All the chicken seems to be fried on demand so the wait was a little long, but well worth it! No dining area, and they glass fenced their service area and customer area and marked 6ft slots to protect their employees and patrons. read more

My brother worships fried chicken. I think if it's legal for a man to marry a bucket of fried chicken, he would! One early morning not long ago, at 1 am in fact, I received a text from him about the 25 for $25 deal at Krispy Krunchy Chicken. Now that's mad chicken love! To satisfy his craving, we agreed to hit up the new Krispy Krunchy Chicken in Pittsburg on 01/31/2020. This place is located next to the Arco/ampm store at the corner of W. Leland and San Marcos, on the west end of town. We walked in at around 6:30 pm and were greeted by the lady owner. The interior was spacious, but there was no seating accommodation available for customers. Being new, cleanliness was impeccable. Besides the regular staff, there were a few workers putting the finishing touches to this new enterprise. I got the Family Meal ($28.99), which came with 12 pieces of chicken (mix), 6 Cajun tenders, 6 honey butter biscuits, and family size fries. I also got a large jambalaya and mac-n-cheese ($3.99 each). My order was ready in just a few minutes. The food withstood the 25-minute drive home. The chicken was very good. The skin was very crispy and the meat was juicy and flavorful. Seasoning was injected into the meat and it was visible when I bit into it. Judging from the color and taste, I'd venture to guess that two of the main ingredients were celery salt and paprika. The tenders were made with white meat and they too were juicy and delicious. The biscuits and jambalaya (made with sausages and chicken) were solid. The only thing I was lukewarm about was the mac-n-cheese. The taste was very ordinary. The staff was friendly and the service was swift. We quite enjoyed the food and agreed that it's vastly superior to KFC and Church's and slightly better than Popeye's. For fast food fried chicken, this is a great spot to get it. Hopefully they can maintain this level of quality over the long term. This fast dining store is located right off the San Marcos freeway and has one of the most savory chickens in the area! It really is "Krispy" and "Krunchy". I came in near closing (they close at 10pm) and they still had everything available to order. I was pleasantly greeted at the register and the service was beyond my expectations! It was a pleasure to get to quickly meet the Manager of the store and have a genuine short conversation. Compared to other locations I've visited that's been mostly gas or liquor store based, this location also have things on the menu you may not typically see at other locations, such as assorted desserts, drinks and extra food offerings. This being my first time at this particular location, I wanted ironically to try something different....So I went with the fried shrimp, 10 piece that came with a honey butter biscuit and an order of chicken cracklings. Allow me to tell you about them.... 10 Piece Shrimp with Biscuit $10.99 - Well, these are good "Yelpire" They're battered rather than breaded, and the seasoning is almost like a Cajun style that gives a mild spice and compliments the plump shrimp used. With some fries, this is more than enough to be a meal of it's own. Oh, and the Honey Butter Biscuit...."Churches" has good ones, here they're grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!! In the words of "Tony" like one honestly isn't nearly enough, buy at least 4 lol. Chicken Cracklings $3.99 - These where good, but hardly chicken cracklings. Basically they were popcorn chicken with very little attached skin. I wasn't to upset though, especially with them adding the cajun seasoning sprinkle upon request. Just wish it was more like actual chicken cracklings with the crispy skin. But they're still solid. Overall: I've had the "Krispy Krunchy Chicken" before and it's amazing, although on this visit I didn't get any. Definitely a notch above the competition. Shrimp - ZERO outta 5stars They tasted freezer burnt and like your basic no name brand frozen shrimp. There was no seasoning whatsoever. Jambalaya - 3 outta 5 Nothing to write home about. So I kept seeing people post about chicken from Arco Gas Station. Let me tell you, I was really skeptical! The other night there was another post about this chicken with photos and it looked pretty tasty. Turns out that the gas station chicken is from a chain called Krispy Krunchy Chicken. The closest place for me to get this chicken is in Pittsburg, and I was way too tired after work to get on HWY 4 for chicken. I looked them up on DoorDash, and they do deliver. This was my first experience using DoorDash during the pandemic, I've been picking up all food directly from the restaurants. I have to say, my Dasher, Charles, got the chicken to me in twenty minutes! The chicken was still hot, krispy, and krunchy! It was really tasty and so were their honey-butter biscuits. Gas station food elevated to a new level! I was pleasantly surprised by KKC. I came here on a weekday at 6pm. There are foods on the stall, but you'll be asked if you want it fresh; if so, expect to wait 15-20 minutes and it's piping hot. The seasoning of this place is ON POINT. It's better than KFC and while the texture is different from Popeye's, it's more flavorful than just salty. The prices are reasonable. They stuck my fresh chicken pieces into a paper bag and it made my whole car smell heavenly. There was a bit of grease forming through the bag. At home, the chicken was krispy, krunchy, and flaky. It doesn't have that crumbly look that Popeye's does, and the meat remained super juicy. The biscuits are also really good! They're a bit small and less dense and different in texture from that of Popeye's and KFC, but they have butter and honey on them, which just goes so well. For some reason, my receipt said they were blueberry biscuits, but I don't even think KKC sells those. The service was decent enough and I definitely recommend getting it fresh because the food in the stands looked kind of crusty. I wonder how their jambalaya is? The photos don't look too good, but I am very sold on the fact that KKC does their crucial items, chicken and biscuits, better than major fast food chains. read more

My sister-in-law mentioned she likes to buy fried chicken here so I thought I'd give Krispy Krunchy Chicken a try. It is located next to the Arco am/pm gas station. Service was pretty quick as there was no line. They have signs to remind customers about social distancing and to wear face coverings in the restaurant which I appreciated. We decided on purchasing a 16-piece mix chicken to go. The price was $21.99 which wasn't bad. Upon opening the container, I was expecting crispy, crunchy fried chicken. When your brand says crispy and crunchy, you expect just that. Although it was moist, seasoned well, and you receive good size pieces, the chicken wasn't very crispy or crunchy. The texture reminded me of grocery store chicken in the deli section. Was I disappointed? Sort of. I was looking forward to all the feels you experience when you eat fried chicken...where every bite you get texture and crunch. The batter wasn't what I was anticipating. Every-time I drive home for the past 6 years, I look to my right and I'm like, when are they going to open a chicken place in that gas station!?! You thought traffic was bad now?! Once you enter in the store, the left side of the store contains all the food, and the right side for the moment has the desserts. The food on the left side of the store is all the pre-made chicken. I ended up ordering 10 chicken wings, 8 dark pieces of chicken, 3 biscuits , 2 chicken sandwiches, and a Oreo pie (wish the crust was made out of oreos). Overall reaction?! I"m coming back!!! I'm a sucker for fried chicken, and this is by far the best there is Bay Point has to offer. Only other place I can find any fried chicken is in Safeway, sometimes McDonalds when they serve the wings. The chicken I got wasn't oven fresh, but good enough to enjoy. I love the blends of spices the chicken has to offer. The wings and the dark meat hit the spot. The chicken sandwich however, disappointed me. I felt like the sandwich was in the bag for an hour or so, and all the heat from sandwich created a bunch of condensation which made the sandwich soggy when I got it. I nuked the sandwich an extra 30 seconds and the sandwich was decent to eat. The honey biscuits where unfamiliar to me and I loved it! I do think they shouldn't be tossed in with the chicken! I can foresee the biscuits becoming soggy as well if the chicken came right out of the oven. Hopefully overtime the quality of the chicken stays consistent and doesn't degrade over time! IF that was suppose to be poured over the chicken put it in bigger cups, there was barely any sauce. The fries were soggy and unseasoned, but tasted fully cooked. The chicken sandwich was tiny and looked crushed. The bread was stuck to the chicken (was it microwaved or just not freshly made). I mean I only seen this happen in fast food restaurants that reheat their food or food that is under a heat lamp or heater like hotdogs in a movie theater for hours. Paid for a mix bucket and got only 2 pieces of white meat when it should have been 4. Guess it's too difficult to get people that can count of care much. Dark meat was cooked and tasted great.
