Prepare to do a lot of reading... Unless you're a simple eggs and toast kind of person. However, if you're like me, I like options! But 5-6 menus for 2 people is a bit much. There has to be a way to consolidate these menus. I felt kinda bad for the guy disinfecting the menus by the hostess stand. That guy definitely doesn't get a break. Anyway this place has stellar reviews and we wanted to check out a new place for brunch. Kristof's is located in a strip mall. We lucked out on a Sunday and only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. We were handed several menus- I believe 1 for breakfast, 1 for lunch, 1 for specials, 1 for sweet treats. Here's what we ordered: Drinks - I wanted a Bloody Mary, but was told they are made with wine and not vodka. The waitress described it as "very different" so I went with champagne. The champagne tasted more like cider so I went with water. Chicken & Waffles - Described on the menu as a bacon and pecan waffle (Mmmmmm) topped with fried chicken and served with hot sauce syrup (yes!!) and pecan butter. That description was all it took! However, the execution was a little different. The chicken was good, but the waffle was missing something. I used A LOT of the pecan butter (which was pretty amazing). I basically dunked every piece into the pecan butter. The syrup was just regular syrup.. not hot sauce syrup. I may have had high expectations based on a place I once visited in Atlanta that made a similar dish and it blew me away. I was hoping for those same flavors and was left pretty disappointed. Kristof's Kroissant - Croissant stuffed with 2 egg omelette style with your choice of fillings with one side and we chose breakfast potatoes. It was good, but not great. Overall I wouldn't mind coming back and trying other things on the menu, but I would not wait a long time outside to eat here. Kristoff's is found in a strip mall and it is a moderate sized diner. I'm not sure the name Cafe is appropriate for what services and food they offer, it's definitely more diner food with some pastries that they sell inside. My boyfriend who was with me was disappointed in their lack of Cafe style drinks (such as espresso and specialty teas) but they do have an abundance of typical diner drinks such as bloody Marys and mimosas. We had to wait about 35 minutes for a table for two, not surprising on a Saturday morning around 11:00 a.m. The staff was extremely friendly and nice and was right on point with our wait time. Unfortunately, something that seems to be a common occurrence in the South Florida area, it was a tad warm and musty inside. So after waiting outside for 35 minutes, we came into the restaurant with little relief from the heat. Once seated, we were given three different menus to look at to make our decisions for breakfast. One was their typical everyday menu, the next was their specials menu and the third was a sweet treats menu that, annoyingly, listed sweet treats that they only carry during certain months of the year. This could be a marketing tactic to try to get you to come back during other times of the year, however to me it's a little more frustrating than anything. I ordered the steak omelette and my boyfriend order meat lovers biscuits and gravy. Now, in my experience I don't expect much quality from diner food and that's exactly what you're going to get from kristoff's cafe. Mediocre diner food that had to be salted at the table with mediocre flavors and not very fresh ingredients. Something akin to going to Denny's or IHOP. If you're the kind of person looking for unique and intricate flavor profiles with beautiful dish presentations with a limited menu to keep ingredients fresh and of the utmost quality, you're not finding that here. There was a mix-up with our order but it was well taken care of by the staff. I think they do have wonderful customer service here. Overall I probably would not be returning to kristoff's Cafe simply because I prefer better food. But I could see the draw to this place after a late night of drinking or whatever kids are into these days. read more

Well - maybe Kristof's had built high expectations, from previous visits... and just watching all the people who arrived with us getting these beautiful plates served way ahead of us increased our irritability at not getting our order... it took a long while! Ok so to begin: there was a line, but they moved it quick. We waited at most 15 minutes and were seated, our waitress was super cordial and made her way to us after waiting on 2 other tables (seated minutes before us) ...the place was busy busy busy! And we were ready with our order. The restaurant is in a strip mall and is small for all the traffic it gets! That's because it is good: usually! I've been here before ! I reccommended it! So... we ordered a simple scrambled egg with hash brown and sourdough toast, a country fried steak with 2 eggs over easy on a muffin and a side of their famous banana bread- and coffee. My scrambled eggs were so disappointing. They were old and dry but I just ate them so I felt I couldn't complain- they took forever to get to us! We were on our 3rd coffee. We called the waitress and asked for the banana bread ahead so we would be less hangry! The people who sat with us were chomping away happily... and we were watching them... and then my sad scrambled eggs and strange hash browns came, oh well. The toast was great! I liked their sourdough toast: yummm. The country fried steak was also good, so was the gravy and the muffin it sat on: so I got a bite of that as well. (Thank goodness he shared!) Anyway: don't get the scrambled with hash brown. I do not reccommend them. The banana bread with the special butter cream was good today: seemed a bit greasy or over baked, but tasty. Wow! I can say so much about this breakfast restaurant. I found it researching online to see what breakfast spots were near me. I saw that this place had some good reviews so my husband & I decided to try it. There was a little bit of a wait when we first went but it went fast and we were seated within the time they told us. Finally we were able to check out this local breakfast/ brunch spot. As a note they are very busy Saturday mornings; there was a line out the door the entire time we were there. Our wait time was around 20 minutes because we wanted a booth. There is a large selection for breakfast. I had built my own omelette with all the veggies and my boyfriend had the steak omelette. They come with your choice of side; I picked the potatoes and he choose oatmeal. The omelettes were very fresh, light and delicious! The potatoes were amazing!! Great breakfast spot! Its super busy but the tables turn over fairly quick. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage links. The sausage here are succulent, and perfectly cooked. I know it's bizarre to rave about this side item, but anywhere else the sausages come all shriveled. The gravy was pretty good and I liked the consistency. Everyone makes you feel welcome and from what we could see there were a lot of regulars. I ordered the Not So Benedict and my boyfriend got the Country Fried Steak. Our only complaint was the biscuit which we both thought was super dry (and dense). The sausage gravy was good as were the hash browns. I love the food here, it is always reliable and tasty. The menu is large featuring a variety of breakfast speciality items plus they offer weekly specials. We got here right when it opened because it gets so packed and there is a wait as the morning progresses. We arrived with a stroller (a small travel stroller) attached to our infant seat. We were told "we don't allow strollers..." we looked at the hostesses confused. There were still a lot of empty tables and there were 6 of us. Easily we could have sat at a four top and two top in the middle of the restaurant and slid the baby stroller in between the two tables. There is not enough room for a server to walk through this area regardless. The hostesses said they have to ask their manager for permission to seat us. The hostesses asked if we could use a high chair...which is not possible since my daughter is an infant and can't sit in a chair on her own. Then the hostesses proceeded to move a couple from their table and started pushing tables together. We stood there completely astounded at what was happening! Would this restaurant deny service to someone in a wheelchair? Likely no, due to ADA protection laws. But to almost deny us service with an infant that can't sit up on her own, not cool. Kristof's never fails to disappoint! We arrived at 8:06 am and mind you, they open at 8:00 am and they were already full except for a table or two. We lucked out and were seated right away. They always have a different menu listing their Weekend Specials but we opted for items on their regular menu. As we were waiting to order, the table behind us got an order of something coated with powder sugar in a cute little metal basket. We asked our waitress what that was and she told us it was funnel cake fries. Well of course we had to order that! Let me tell you, they were DELICIOUS! I would highly recommend that you order them! As for our food, my husband ordered the Not So Eggs Benedict which had biscuits, eggs, bacon, hash browns and gravy, & I ordered the Banana Caramel French Toast which had bananas, pecans and caramel sauce. Kristof's was recommended to me by a friend, so I knew we had to come for brunch! We arrived at about 10:30 on Sunday morning and put our names on the list because there was a line of people. It's a fairly small space, and we all know what brunch is like in south Florida, so we were ok waiting! However, when it was about 11:45 and we saw people who had arrived WELL after we did being seated, we felt the need to step up and see what the deal was. We were only a party of two so it's not like they needed a lot of space for us. They said we were next up and they were just clearing off a table for us, so we waited patiently. Then they told us we had to wait outside because there wasn't enough room inside for us to wait. I figured since all they had to do was wipe the table for us, we would be out of the way in minutes anyway, but rather than arguing we stepped outside. It was when they came out and took someone else inside to seat them that I really got upset! We went back inside to ask again, and they FINALLY seated us at the next available table. Once we were finally seated, it was smooth sailing. I ordered an iced coffee and was excited to find that they used frozen coffee cubes (a small, but amazing detail)! We started with an order of the banana bread, which came with a side of pecan butter. DELICIOUS! I ordered the "not-so Benedict," which despite its name had almost nothing to do with a an eggs Benedict. However, it was an amazingly delicious dish of biscuits and gravy with eggs and potatoes. The portion size could have fed a small family, so bring your appetite! My mouth is watering just remembering how great it was! Kristof's wait staff works as a team unit, so rather than having one server responsible for our meal, we were helped by many servers throughout. I didn't mind this method, although we were asked by no less than 4 servers if anyone had taken our drink order. It didn't bother me, but definitely something different from most restaurants! Overall, I would come back to Kristoff's for the food and waitstaff, but I would make sure to come on a day where I had a few hours to spare. This place!!! It's like an old time, small town diner. We were there lunchtime on a Wednesday and saw people grouped outside the door. Then we walked in and saw a small room jam packed with tables, jam packed with people. We were lucky to grab 2 bar stools at the 5 person counter. We absolutely had THE greatest lunch! Home made yellow split pea soup. A tuna melt that was amazing with caramelized onion and Swiss cheese on toast. A patty melt on crispy toast with some great cole slaw. Stopped in for breakfast during a trip to Fort Lauderdale and tried their brisket benedict which is a special on their menu. Didn't get our server's name but she was fantastic. She was able to answer all of our questions and made some suggestions as well. Took the breakfast orders and came back with some good coffee. The dining area is huge and looks like a dance floor but found out it was a necessity to remove tables to comply with pandemic concerns. The brisket Benedict was great, lots of brisket and flavorful. We discovered this spot looking for brunch places in Broward. We live in Miami and tipically brunch in the area but we had things to do up north and decided eat over there. Don't let the exterior of this place fool you, this is a hidden gem! Seating 3/5 Once you conquered the 45min - 1hr waiting time (kinda pain in the neck but they take your number and call you. I would recommend to stay close because when it's your turn it gets messy assigning tables and you may get skipped once or twice - regardless the waiting/seating process, it is all worth it! You don't have a dedicated server, they all buss all the tables, which is great because you always have someone around. Oh my goodness!!! I did not expect such a fantastic, over the top experience from such a simple breakfast so I didn't take pictures. I was trying to eat healthy so just ordered the egg white omelette with onions, spinach and mushrooms but wow! Could taste the butter in each bite, did not expect that at all. I split this with my husband, and it was the perfect amount (we don't eat too much), came with a choice of several sides , we went with the potatoes and chose the homemade biscuits which weren't fluffy but delicious! Thankfully we had enough room for the homemade banana and walnut bread which was DYNAMITE!!! Service was spot in although the place was crazy busy even for a Thursday afternoon abs the prices reasonable. Love love love this spot! I have been coming to Kristoff's since 2018. It is a gem of a breakfast spot. I will say most likely there will be a wait, but it is worth waiting for the food and the service. Michelle, who we now ask for as our waitress is amazing. She is very friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, just can't say enough nice things about her. However, today for the first time I am sad to say, that we were treated disrespectfully by a rude waitress who was handling the front desk. My daughter and I walked in to write our names on the list and Deborah 'shooshed' us out the door then closed the door behind us and left us waiting outside. I thought okay, she's coming back, but she didn't. Another patron walked in a bit after me. Krystal, who was now attending the front desk added her to list. I then had to tell Krystal that we had been waiting outside for Deborah, who never came back, to put our names on the list. As I am talking to Krystal, who is very nice, Deborah rudely interrupt us and asked me if I had a ticket. I had no idea what she was talking about. She then grabs the handheld machine from Krystal's hands and walks outside. I am standing there in disbelief. At this point I just told Krystal that we would take our order to go. I wouldn't have ordered AT ALL, but I had promised my daughter her favorite food order. So, we ordered and waited outside. About ten minutes later, I walk in and Deborah again is near the front. I asked her if we could have a cup of water to go. She looks at me and says, No, that they can't do that but if I wanted a bottle of water that the charge would be $1. I said no problem, got my food and left. I am so upset to leave a review like this on a place that is so delicious and has been part of our family routine.
