I'm not sure if it's short staffed or not but this location basically closes when they feel like it. I've been there at different times during the evening and night because I know the times showing online are not updated regularly. Still, they are already closed no matter what time I pull in. The outside lights are never on and they never answer the phone so it's no way of knowing what's what. I live on the opposite side of town so I only visit when I'm near but with this already being out of the way, that may change. It's just not worth it. read more

Krystal is a restaurant I see mostly / only in the south but not too far into southern Florida. In north Florida, Georgia, Carolinas pretty much they are easy to find. Well these Krystal mini burgers were like a staple for young kids who didn't have much money and loved to eat mini burgers. So... when I want to feel like a kid again just buy a dozen or so Krystals and it takes me back about 2 decades or so. While this is not the best food it's cheap. There was a Krystals in Fort Worth off of N Beach St, but it closed down and was replaced by Dickey's BBQ. Bleh. Waited 25 minutes inside, just for someone's order in front of us to be messed up. Went out to try the drive thru as there were only 3 cars in it. Haven't moved in 15 minutes. Just sorta ridiculous. I get it, working fast food isn't easy, I've done it plenty of times. However, I just don't see the urgency while I'm here. KRYSTAL... I guess one either loves or hates them? I cook a great deal in my spare time and freely admit to often being a food snob. That said, being a child of the 70's, I still find myself craving the occasional fast food. Krystal has always been a RARE and unique choice for our area. They used to have more stores here about 15+ years ago? Being from St. Pete, I was very happy they opened a S Dale Mabry location! Then they CLOSED! So this location is now my nearest to get my fix. In the North, they have White Castle. In the South, we have Krystal. Their humble little sliders are so very satisfying when one gets the craving. Of course, like WC, they are also legendary for being a great ending to a night of heavy drinking! For me, it's the Krystal "Chik" that is the stand-out here. NO mystery-McNugget-meat, just 100% chicken breast with a little mayo and a pickle slice. It's fast food perfection, sort of like a Chick-Fil-A "slider!" Today I was looking for something different, perhaps nostalgic, basic comfort food. Krystal Burger is similar to a place we visited when I was growing up that was considered a treat. My visit today was exactly what I expected. No frills sliders. The best part of my visit was that customer service was breaming as you entered. The people working there were genuinely eager to greet and help you with your order. Immediately as I walked I was greeted with a warm hello and a full smile; with a couple of friendly comments about the sports logo on my shirt. They politely offered me an upgrade to large (be careful, large is 44 ounce soda so there is a lot). They even brought my meal to my table and cleared the table after I was finished. I only ordered the basic Krystal Burger, fries and soda. The burgers were hot and the buns soft practically melting in your mouth. Garnished with pickle and onion with a dab of mustard (my one complaint ever since I was really young, regardless where, never enough mustard) which adds that pizazz. This whole combination is a bursting explosion of flavor of warm spiciness. The only negative was the dining room did need some maintenance attention to improve the overall appearance. read more

While traveling back and forth from Clearwater to Moffitt for 10 days, I saw a Krystal in my travels. I'm from Michigan and remember White Castle burgers very fondly and just had to stop . I've ended up stopping 4 times in those 10 days and every time I stop, whether drive-thru or walk-in, I am met with awesome customer service as well as delicious little burgers from heaven!! I was very surprised when I dropped by the Krystal drive thru last Friday night on my way back from Busch Gardens. I was shocked by the quality of service which I have just missed from other fast food establishments in recent years. Staff are fast, friendly and very polite. I am lucky at other fast food places if I can get a smile anymore, let alone a thank you. Ah... Krystal. A place I don't think I've ever actually been before midnight. After a couple of cocktails, nothing tastes better, and if you get a few extra, and seal the bag to retain moisture, they microwave to almost the exact same taste and texture as when freshly made. Today I had one of the worst customer experiences of my life at Krystal TMP008 (2625 W Hillsborough Ave, Tampa) on March 19 around 12:20 pm. The dining room was closed with no signs informing customers of this. I had to wait 20 minutes or more in the drive-thru line and then was informed abruptly there were no chicken strips. But the reason my experience was truly terrible was the complete lack of customer service by the drive-thru attendant. I asked for the Krystal burger with ketchup only (for my children). The attendant said the burger had to come with onions. I said fine and proceeded to tell her that I didn't want mustard on the burger. She brought up the onions again, saying the burger had to come with onions and that I could scrape them off. I said fine, and reminded her that I didn't want mustard. She would not acknowledge my request and kept arguing about the onions. She would not listen to me and became extremely belligerent no matter how hard I tried to reason with her. Finally, after repeatedly yelling at me about the onions, she said that she would not serve me. So after all that waiting, I had to leave. It is apparent this location employs personnel that should not be customer-facing and that it fails to adequately train personnel. This would rank in one of my top 2 worst restaurant experiences in my life. We had to try this place out after hearing about their all day happy hour event. I guess it's just the fact that we've had White Castle many times before that this place just could not cut it. We tried out four different types of sliders just so we wouldn't be short of variety. Ordered out 3 plain krystal burgers, 3 double Krystal with cheese, 3 chili cheese Krystal burgers, and 3 bacon with cheese burgers and an order of chili cheese fries. The regular krystal sliders did remind us of White Castle burgers but the other 3 kinds just tasted too salty. Their bacon was pretty big to be put in a slider but was also salty. The chili was also so salty on the burgers and fries that we didn't even get to finish the fries. The cheddar shredded on top of the fries looked like they just put it on top without even trying to melt it. We ordered 2 drinks and wanted the sweet tea they had at the drink counter but it ended up all out. The burgers lately have been a hit or miss. Sometimes the buns are so steamed that they taste mushy and wet, like soggy bread. Sometimes they are fresher and good. I always get the chili cheese pups. Mini chili cheese hot dogs there are the best! I highly recommend the chili cheese pups when you visit. They've had this deal for a while 5 items for $5. This includes their drinks, fries, chili, and all sandwiches. I obviously get five chili cheese pups...LOL read more
